Can't wait to trail test this! My wife and I have two hiking backpacks, my old Kelty Red Cloud, which is similar in size and fit to this one, and an external frame pack. I'm wholeheartedly a fan of internal frame backpacks--the external frame rubs on my shoulders and doesn't feel nearly as comfortable to carry and wear. But this Osprey has awesome ventilation and molds so nicely to your back that I can tell its going to be a great pack. My one minor complaint about internal packs was the lack of ventilation, and just accepted the fact that my back was going to get really sweaty on any hike. The entire Osprey Atmos pack is open and ventilation with this really awesome system of webbing that will allow airflow back there. The best of both worlds! A well-fit and snug pack, with breathability.Although the Atmos is the men's pack, my wife found that it fit her perfectly, at the right size and shape for her shoulders and hips. Perhaps the women's pack would be an even better fit, but she liked this one. I thought it seemed a little narrow in the shoulders for me, and sits a little higher on my waist than I expected, even with the anti-gravity adjustment all the way up. The antigravity adjustment raises or lowers the shoulder straps to the right comfort height for you. I'm not a particular big guy--6'0 and slim, but I still think this would be a wonderfully comfortable pack to wear, and it has a close profile, so you don't have a huge span protruding out of your back, which is great both for traveling and also for going through tighter trails in the wilderness. All the requisite load lifter straps, adjustments, tighteners, extra hooks and loops cover the bag, with plenty of smartly placed pockets and pouches for stashing and organizing your gear. The sleeping back compartment is spacious and the main compartment also has plenty of room for your gear, for a longer trek. Everything seems sturdy and well made, and completely thought out.

I’m a 63 year old who loves the outdoors and wanted the best, multi-day/weekend, highly functional and durable backpack within reasonable cost. I’m not doing thru-hikes so a heavier but durable pack was my goal. 2021 brought the new Aether 65 vs the older Atmos 65, both of which were my leading candidates. I settled on the older Atmos 65 because of the very positive YouTube reviews and the fantastic price just recently posted on Amazon in February, 2021....$239.00 brand new! My Atmos came today and to my surprise, it DID come with an included rainfly! Note that rain fly’s do not normally come with the Atmoses? The medium is a 65 liter pack weighing in at 4.56 lbs, so it’s no ultralight. But here’s why I settled on the Atmos 65:1. Anti-Gravity suspension/harness system - makes it feel like you’re carrying less weight than you actually are.2. Durable & Flawless construction - heavy duty quality zippers, durable outer material, and overall build (like a tank!)3. Great pockets & just the right amount of storage - 2 external storage pockets on the front of the pack is a winner! Also, trekking pole and dual ice axe lashings.4. Dual side pockets are large/deep enough to fit a full-sized, Grayl water filter flask.5. Removable brain and integral weather flap.6. Included rain fly & dedicated rain fly pocket. - You can also use this pocket for other item storage while stashing the rain fly somewhere else if you wish.7. The high vis, neon green interior provides great contrast when looking for items in low-light conditions.8. Osprey’s Almighty guarantee, lifetime warranty - 2nd to none! Conclusion: Although an older design, it is a proven pack with hundreds of satisfied users. It is a highly durable pack which will no doubt, stand the test of time. This is the best multi-day backpack, ever, imho!

This pack replaces an old pack with a metal frame from the 1970's, so for me, it is like going from a broken down truck to a Lexus. Watch the video on the product page--I won't even attempt to describe all the various pockets and storage areas on this pack. It's got a place for everything. But my favorite thing about the pack is the design. Empty it weighs about 6 lbs, full it varies, but the hip belt rests on the hips so that your hips are bearing a lot of the weight of the pack, rather than your back and shoulders. It makes the pack feel so much lighter and so doesn't stress your body as much. This pack is intended for use on a weekend up to 7+ days. The sizing of small, medium, large and extra large have nothing to do with the size of the pack but a neck vertebrae to hip line measurement that makes it fit well. Go to the Osprey website to see how to measure and order the corresponding size you need. This is an essential step for enjoying the benefits of this spectacular pack. There is also netting that holds it away from your back and straps that are well-padded and adjustable as well. The hip belt adjusts as well. This pack is guaranteed for the life of the original owner. If anything breaks, they will fix it or replace it. But don't expect to collect on the guarantee anytime soon. This pack is so well made. The Osprey Atmos AG 65 pack is expensive but worth the investment. If you camp out for a few nights instead of staying in a Super 8, you've already paid for it. Five stars without any hesitation.

Difficult to believe that a backpack can be comfortable but this one is, much more so than other packs due to the way the hip belt literally grabs you and takes the weight directly to the legs. Only a few days walks so far but the difference is amazing. Hopefully it will see me along the Pennine Way.Now back from the Pennine Way and I can really recommend this backpack. I had to spend a little time getting the perfect fit for my back, it is a matter of adjusting and readjusting, but when I found it, I could tell immediately. The included raincover worked very well. Nothing got wet inside, although I did use a liner bag just in case. The way the bag is held allowed air to pass along the back and as long as I was not wearing waterproofs I did not have a sweaty back.It is a big bag and managed to take all the kit including a tent inside the bag. When the tent was wet I used the ties as the bottom of the bag. I carried 28lbs, in comfort the whole way.Actually, the bag was maybe too large and I could have used a smaller one but I cannot fault it any way.

Have to say, This is one fantastic piece of kit.I don't even know where to start with this Ospray. The amount of pockets, holders, straps and fasteners on this thing is crazy. Theres always a place to fit something, seems like they thought of everything. I purchased the Ospray 3Ltr Hydraulic Reservoir for mine, thers's a designed compartment for this in the backpack, which fits perfectly. You can adjust the strap height on the shoulders, you can adjust the waist straps, the list goes on.All in all a well thought out, brilliantly designed and tough backpack. Would I reccomend this.. ABSOLUTELY you will not be disappointed.

Had a few traning hikes with the backpack, not fully loaded yet, but with a total weight of approx 10kg did not find any issue's or problems. So no back or shoulder problems.Like:- Comfortable backback- Good adjustment possible- Side bottle holders easy accessible when wearing on you backDislike:- Only toploader, no zipper on frontpanel making it harder to load the backpack- Some adjustement traps too long and need to be stowed (or cut-off).

I have not found anything I have not liked about this packI am a big man at 19 Stone, and this fits like a glove, When walking in warm conditions you can feel a breeze on your back with no sweat, unlike all the other Packs I have bought.Generally I carry around 30 pounds (13.61 kilogram) off camping gear unless its real cold, and this Pack seems lighter somehow. This backpack will be with me some time.

As all the reviews have indicated this is an excellent bag. The hip belt is fantastic and all the compartments are of a good size.I have 2 small issues. The hip pockets are good but require two hands to close them. The shoulder straps absorb rain and once you take a waterproof off the straps make your clothes wet.Having said that this is the best bag I've ever owned.

This is the best backpack I have had and you can tell they put a lot of effort in. Something I wasn't sure about was the detachable extra pouch on top but if you fill it with clothes it doubles as a pillow and I invert it so its waterproof down and can sit or kneel on it when doing astrophotography so I'm not directly on the grass it has a lot of extra uses!

The only thing I could complain about is the fact that the Osprey packs do not come with rain covers. However, since I knew that going in, I ordered a separate cover from another vendor at a great price. Osprey offers a brand name rain cover with the cool logo but the price is prohibitive. I'm not hiking the A/T to look good; it's all about function.

I recently used this pack for my Tour du Mont Blanc trekking trip. 10 days of trekking through the Alps with about 16 kilogrammes of camping and essential gear on board. I could not be more pleased with this pack. I saw a lot of them during the course of the trip which confirmed to me that it was a great choice. It was very comfortable.

Perfect and comfortable for backpacking, can fit loads of stuff. In terms of flying to a destination, the frame is a little large, and does not fit in most overhead compartments in a plane. However, I would not trust this bag in a checked hold, as it has lots of straps that could get caught on something and broken by airport staff.

I have been in the scouts for years, was in the army reserves and often go on hikes and camping trips and I have to say that this is the most comfortable, most well made and sturdy bag.It hardly feels like it's on your back and is perfect for anyone who wants to get into camping/backpacking. Would definitely recommend!

Nice bag. Fits well on your backI’m 6”1 16stone got the larger sizeI’m not sure if it’s the bag but it’s seems a bit small on the in side I’ve got the 65lt and I’m finding it hard to fit my stuf in around where the back frame is, might have to lose a few items!!! Not like my old rucksackBut overall nice piece of kit

This bag has been brilliant. Those who are experienced trekkers may find this bag uncomfortable at first but by adjusting the bag you will find the perfect setting for yourself dependent on the load. Additional pockets at front very handy for items that are required regularly like phone, wallet, money and passport/ID.
