Thought I had a good knife last time (a fancy serrated and moulded modern one) which eventually went blunt and I couldn't sharpen it. I have other Opinel knives (foldable ones for foraging and gardening) and they are fabulous so I decided to try their bread knife. It slices through three day old sourdough as if it was a soft piece of fruit, handles bread easily that I've just got out of the oven and is still ultra soft and steamy (most knives make you squash new bread) and it's still razor sharp after daily use for a couple of months. Also it's so sharp you need apply hardly any pressure and now even my husband can cut straight slices of bread! Expensive but definitely worth every penny.

Best bread knife I've ever used or owned. It will cut through any bread, including crusty sourdough, dense rye or something far less substantial like a supermarket loaf with no effort at all. No squashed loaves and if so desired super thin and even slices can be cut - think cucumber sandwich slices. I'm so impressed with this knife that I've ordered another one for my mother as a gift as she's always complaining she's never been able to find a decent bread knife.

I've not owned an Opinel product before but knew of them, and after buying this bread knife I will definitely stick with their products. I noticed the bowed shape in images and realised this would solve the frustrating problem of cutting bread to the base and hitting your knuckles or the worktop getting in the way. Also it cuts really well though I guess I'd expect that from a brand new knife...

I found that I could not cut fresh bread to fit in my toaster with my existing knife. I bought a slicing frame and Optinel bread knife to go with it. Only then did I find how a quality bread knife makes all the difference, and the slicing frame is not required at all.

This is the best thing FOR [never mind since] sliced bread. We like sourdough and other crusty loaves and it just glides through them with a clean cut edge. Miles better than any previous bread knife. I’m just sorry we didn’t buy this years ago.

Surprisingly light but slices like a demon in razor sharp, perfect slices. Even on soft unstructured italic breads, this knife will go through them with ease and without tearing up even the softest loaf. You won't buy another breadknife...

The absolute perfect bread knife. Lightweight but completely solid. Feels great to hold with a super sharp jagged blade. The only downside was a use of plastic packaging when it could and should have been packaged with tough card.

Sharp smooth high quality Bread knifeOnly downside is it its a bit short to use with the Bamboo slice guide we boughtOf the two I think I would opt for keeping using the knife and getting a standard width plastic slicing guide

Really good bread knife, easily cuts through soft, seeded and crusty types of bread. Unusual shape, a sort of semi moon shape. Be careful though don’t make the mistake of trying to hold a bread roll in you hand. Cuts too well!

After purchasing several "breadknives" to replace one that bit the dust after 25 years of excellent service, this one will do the trick. Finally a knife that cuts bread easily and straight!

A very well made knife that makes cutting bread noticeably easier. I bought this in the hope it will last me a lifetime and based on the build quality I think it will.

Best bread knife i have ever used! Not interested in ever buying another kind on my life. Highly recommend. Specially if you eat crusty sourdough bread.

I am so impressed at this knife, it's so easy to cut bread with and I can definitely cut thinner slices than I have with other bread knives.

I use it for my frequent bread machine bakes. It 'handles' beautifully, is light, and slices my daily bakes with very little effort.
