The original one I ordered arrive cracked, but Amazon were cool, as usual, with dispatching a replacement quickly. The block itself is great. I was looking for a knife block to 1) consolidate several of my knives from two smaller wood blocks (which were getting a bit tatty) and a drawer, and 2) coordinate with my bright green themed kitchen. This one fits the bill on both points. The colour is great if you're looking for a lime/green apple tint. The design is great. The bristles let you insert various lengths and blade styles, in whatever position you want. I currently have 6 steak knives, a couple of larger serrated knives, a large paring/utility knife, a longish straight bladed general use knife,3 short paring/fruit knives, and a large chef's knife, with plenty of room to spare. If you're worried about long blades sticking out too much above the top, you can place them in at an angle. It's incredibly handy for stylish, easy access to all my commonly used knives, and probably the best kitchen gadget I've bought in a long while. Spent about £20-25 for it; well worth the price.

Bought this for my mum, who was fed up get nicked when putting her hand into a drawerful of loose knives. She's very happy with it, and it is now a firm fixture on her windowsill. There are two minor negatives which mean I can't give it 5 stars:Firstly, the block is relatively short and so some longer knives have their blades exposed (but they are easy enough to dodge, so not a huge issue).Secondly, the bristles that hold the knives in place have loosened up over the course of a couple of months. This means that the knives aren't held in place as securely as they were at first. It's not a problem at the moment, but if they continue to become flexible then I'd be concerned about the longevity of the block.Overall though,we much prefer it to the standard wooden block and would recommend it to other (especially if you're someone who has accumulated a bunch of knives from disparate sources over the years).

I'd had a knife block on the list for a long time but they either come with a set of cheap knives or don't have the right combination for the ones I already own. Enter the Bodum Knife Block in a variety of sexy colours. We already had a green theme in the kitchen and this went perfectly. The idea is that you stand your knives up in between lots of thin upright plastic straws which means you can have as many knives that will fit, ranging in sizes and shapes. I have a chef's / Japanese style knife which is quite deep so one of them has to go in sideways. I don't mind, it wouldn't fit in any of the others I tried.I have about 6 or 7 knives in it at any one point and they slide out so easily yet are firmly held in place. It's also a decent weight which means there's no fear of it falling over and injuring someone.I think if my kitchen theme changed, I'd get the same in a different colour.

Been looking to change our black knife block for a year since we had kitchen redone, wanted a white one but seemed impossible to find in the shops. Until I searched on amazon for 'White knife block' and here it was all this time!It says "OFF WHITE"in product title but really is as close to white as can be, so I'm relieved as it looks fresh on my worktop and against bright white subway tiles.I knew from the reviews that it is on the 'short side' for long bladed knives, but made it work by sliding my 4 long knives not straight on. See photos. It looks modern bright and more compact than my old one and an absolute bargain compare to wood blocks that cost near £100 or more in kitchen shops.I wouldn'thesitate for a minute if you are looking for something modern and cool.Hope my photos help.[...]

This knife block is quite narrow (which is hard to tell from the image) and you can get a max of two knives in it width wise. Length wise its better, but bear in mind that you may have to have some knives at an angle so they dont protrude. Most other knife blocks of this type are made at an angle and I suspect that is the reason. You can get a max of 12 knives in this... and if they were all large knives I'd say about 6-8. Its quite tall too and because its not at an angle anything you put in it is upright. So, my steel would not fit in as it was too tall to fit under my kitchen cupboards.Looks nice and is stable and stores my knives, but may not be good for someone with an extensive collection or larger knives.

Truly I say to you; look no further.Sleek, sexy and practical design. Makes your kitchen look like a professional (albeit Hipster) kitchen. It looks clean and has a smallish footprint.Definitely recommend this product if you have quite a few blades in the kitchen that you regularly need access to. If you want your knives to last longer, you'd want to avoid storing them inside your drawers with your other utensils. Instead, let it rest, dry and shine on your worktop surface.Big fan of Bodum and this knife block doesn't disappoint - don't forget the detachable bristles that make cleaning the insides a breeze!NB: I currently have it holding over 7 knives. So space isn't a problem!

Most knife blocks I looked at have fixed slots for specific knives. That's no good for us because we have collected a random selection of knives over the years. Also, most blocks are clumsy great blocks of wood and have no place in a modern fitted kitchen! This Bodum one is sturdy (doesn't topple over when getting knives out, which was my first concern) and doesn't look like something my grandma would buy (looks matter!). It doesn't hold our long carving knife, but that has a place in a drawer and we don't use it daily, so it's ok. We've not had it long so don't know how well the internal fibres stand up to continuous use, but for now we are pleased.

It's a very smart and flexible knife block. I bought two to keep loads of knives in, and they look great on my kitchen worktop. It's only really wide enough for 1 knife, so you end up with a row of knives "horizontally" arranged across the block, if that makes sense (as opposed to the "vertical" alignment you usually get in wooden blocks), but I think that actually works better. Will also hold thicker blunt objects like sharpening steels, although you have to force them in a bit, but this doesn't have a lasting distorting effect on the strands within.Very practical, very smart, and seemingly very good quality.

Overall this knife block is great. It's slim, it's compact, it's stylish. It is a bit short, so longer knives (chef knives, bread knives) DO stick out at the top. This isn't really a problem, but aesthetically, it might have been nicer to be just a bit deeper. Because it's so slim, it's also a little bit of a wiggle to get my wide half-butcher knife to fit in. It gets there, it's not a problem, but it's fiddly. Overall I'm completely pleased with the knife block, and would recommend it. I would make potential buyers aware of these two points though.

I had been looking for a new knife block for some time, and had considered a similar item which had the "needles", but which was in a conventional block shape which I don't particularly like.So when I recently found the Bodum block I realised that I could fit all my knives in and it would sit more neatly on the surface in my kitchen. It arrived yesterday and bingo, I just love it. It looks the business, I don't just have to have the number of knives dictated by an ordinary block, and the black looks just great in my kitchen.

Well made item that looks after our selection of sharp implements very well. We have around 12 knives in ours of varying sizes (carving, bread - vegetable) and they fit in without any problems at all. I think you might struggle to put in a large chopper though (like butchers have). We bought ours when it was reduced in price (we paid around £20 with postage) so it was a bargain. Not sure we would've bought it at its full price, not because it's not a good item, more because we're a bit tight with money.

The flexible design of this knife block is perfect for accommodating knives of different widths - just what I was looking for! I would have rated it as a 5 except for the colour description - definitely not lime green, rather as a previous reviewer commented, it is more a dull avocado shade which is ok for my kitchen. However, I would have preferred it in lime green but because of the great design I decided to keep it. I would definitely recommend this design but just be aware of the colour discrepancy.

I looked at a great many alternatives as good knives are so expensive, ended up getting my knives from various sources as and when I could afford them and just buying 2 empty blocks. My kitchen is ancient but everything was painted white so I was pleased to see that this came in white too. I was very pleasantly surprised at what a positive impact the two blocks made to the stylishness and modern look to my 40 year old kitchen as I can't afford to buy things solely because of style alone.

Great! All my knives fit, its fab, I have 10 knives happily sitting in the block, even the bread knife and carving knife (these two have to go in at an angle to cover the blade, but happily sit upright with about 1" blade above. Quite safe in my kitchen, sitting close to the wall. Could be a problem if a small child got too inquisitive, as with any other block. Far and away better than the wooden knife block with a separate hole for each knife. I highly recommend this product.

I opened the box & thought "no way are all of my knives going to fit in there !". How wrong I was. I have fitted 1 x extra large carving knife, 3 x large carving knives, 2 x small knives, 1 x ham slice, 1 x carving fork plus a fully fledged professional steel !!!!! Yes, it will hold a heavy steel too. I still have space left for at least 3 more knives. Despite being rather full it remains sturdy & looking gorgeous. Brilliant product & cracking colour too.
