Absolutely love this little knife, it’s sharp as a razor straight out of the box, I use a diamond sharpener on all my knives and it’s kept it’s edge with just an occasional top up, it’s brilliant to sharpen my sketching pencils and opens any parcel at the flick of a wrist, I also use it to cut my food. brilliant little tool. One thing I’m not quite sure about, and it hasn’t been a problem up to now, is the locking collar, don’t get me wrong, it works very well, holds the blade shut in your pocket and open when you’re using it.That’s the issue, UK knife law doesn’t allow locking knives, that said, there are many fold up knives with a release catch which to my mind could be classed as ‘locking’ sold every day so I’m hoping that if my knife ever comes to the attention of authority that they take a similar view, I’d hate to lose it, it’s become an essential part of my daily carry kit.

I have wanted one of these since 1992, when a buddy in Colorado showed me his, I had never seen one before and was really impressed. They don't sell these much, if at all, in Sweden where I live, but here on holiday staying with my brothers family in BE I finally bought one! I wish I had not waited over 20yrs to buy this knife. It is a marvel of ingenious design! It is light, cheap to make, good to hold, beautiful, sturdy, and can be opened with one hand. You can even lock the blade with the same hand. I do find it a little expensive though (for what it is), and that is probably why I didn't get one before...I have a lot of knifes, and really do not need more, but this is a great buy that I do not regret at all,I really love this knife!

It's an Opinel #6. Cheap to buy, small foldable knife, with a turn locking collar. Easy to sharpen carbon blade, beware, it is not rust proof, so unless you put a patina on it, you need to treat it with oil or similar, or it WILL rust. The blade is delicate and the tip + blade will break easily, if not treated with care. It is not a prying knife, like say a Mora would be. The #6 is a good, cheap knife, which I think is UK EDcarry legal. Cheap enough to lose and buy again. Other blade sizes are available, the #6 is the smallest in the Opinel range.

This knife is small and light enough to be carried in my back pocket without noticing it's there. I carry and use it every day. Being stainless, the blade does not tarnish like the carbon steel Opinels. The design is very stylish with an ingenious lock. One slight drawback of the Opinels is that being of an all-wood construction, the handle can swell if it gets damp, making the knife difficult to open or close until it dries. But at this price, great value for money. Highly recommended.

Bought as a gift for a relative who teaches forest school and needed a small, safe, knife to demonstrate things to the kids. This is perfect for the job. I've seen a few bushcrafters on youtube use and recommend this brand of knives as a staple, and having handled it it definitely seems like it would be a good, long-wearing, knife you could keep for years, the right kind of length to keep in the desk drawer to sharpen pencils etc.

this knife is well good like I used it at work to chop lemons and limes for drinks and it cut my thumb tip clean off which meant a trip to hospital to get it reattached. They said as the cut was so clean that it'd heal fine so that's good. It has a well nice handle and the blade doesn't need sharpening! Cheers opinel if the blade was less sharp I probably wouldn't be able to continue my career as a hand model

These knives are made to an incredibly high standard. I've used opinels all my life. Tried other knives but I always come back to this little beauty! It arrives sharp and stays sharp. The locking mechanism is simple and reliable. This particular one is a good size for an everyday knife to keep in the pocket for all those little jobs that spring up around the house or in the garden.

A great little knife. Locking collar can be easily removed to make it EDC and very sharp. Blade looks a little thin but with reasonable use shouldn't let you down. Stainless and carbon steel versions available. I have the 9 in carbon and this in stainless. The carbon steel needs a little more care, cleaning the blade and regular oiling to prevent rusting.

Very sharp durable blade for its size, opens and locks well and is very light to carry. Only thing is that it doesn't have any of the text on the wooden handle like in the photo, its just plain varnished. Still had the text on the blade. Doesn't bother me particularly but if it's something you're after then just bear it in mind.

As a seaman it's very important to have a good quality reliable knife, and this is just that. It a beautiful well made knife that is perfect for any use within reason. The lock teacher is excellent and very important for me. I would definitely recommend this knife and buy another one if required. Very happy 10/10

Classic design French wooden Handel folding knife.I removed the locking ring, very easily done without damage as lock knifes are not UK legal.Makes it perfect for picnics and garden stuff. The blades are super sharp and ultra thin so very easy to resharpen. Have many Opinel knifes and never disappointed.

Simple locking knife. Brought for my son who's in scouts and its perfect for what he needs. The simple locking mechanism makes it safe and the wooden handle means its comfortable to hold whilst making tent pegs and whittling (and all those other scouty type things they get up to)

Excellent classic little knife thin and sharp out of the box a little stropping and it is shaving sharp,I have used this knife for about a year and I have used it for cutting cardboard opening post cutting leather and even carving pumpkins! Definitely recommend purchasing one

I love it. The only reason why I gave it four stars is because it doesn't have the branding on the wood. I'm sure some people like it blank, but I personally love the Opinel type face but nonetheless the wood grain is nice and everything is exactly what i thought it would be.

I love my little opinel, it's small, lightweight and compact. Doesn't take much space but does the job, of course it not a type of knife I would do batonig with but I do recommend it as it is best value for money.
