I bought this as a first pocket knife for my 13-year-old stepdaughter to use around our forested property, and it's perfect for the price. The locking "collar" mechanism is easy for her to operate, and she loves the color, size, and light weight. She's always got it out whittling on a stick, slicing fruit, or cutting wild mushrooms we find. I like that it actually has a lock which keeps it open AND closed, as it feels a little more safe to me than a typical slipjoint starter knife. I also love that it's a quality little knife with a good reputation for very cheap, so if (when) she loses it, we can easily replace it. It arrived very sharp, and has been easy to maintain as well.

Another wonderful Opinel folding knife. Perfect for slightly smaller hands, but great for anyone who wants a smaller knife to carry in the pocket daily. On my monitor, the color "plum" (or grape) is pretty accurate to that of the product in the flesh. Very attractive.I purchased this from SiteLead, Inc., here on Amazon. Unfortunately, the knife appears to have been handled and perhaps a previously returned item. The blade had finger print and other smudges on it, with the blade edge appearing slightly inconsistent with tiny nicks, as though it had been used. Thumbs down foe this seller's missed quality control.

I heard good things about Opinel and how practical style No. 7 can be so I decided to give it a try. You'll see from the photo, when folded, it's barely bigger than a car key. I love the simple design and it fits great on my small hands. The hinge is tight which is perfect for tossing in my purse... but I hope over time it will loosen just enough to make it easier to open. It came sharp out of the box and I was able to open packages right away. I am now looking forward to getting more so I can give them away as gifts - doesn't hurt the box it comes in makes it easy to stick a bow and roll with it :-)

Opinel knives are all around terrific, especially at the super low price point. I've owned two. They are my favorite folders by far. Bought this one for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift. The handle color is pretty true to the photograph. The blade was sharp out of the box, though I did do some additional honing on a strop. The leather loop is ok, the hole is nice and clean. The blade was pretty tight at first, but has loosened up a bit. Shipping was very prompt, it arrived before Christmas even though I was cutting it pretty close. You really can't go wrong here.

An excellent, just-about right-sized knife. I also have a no.8 and 9, the 8 you don't need as it feels little larger than the 7 whereas the 9 is significantly larger and could potentially get you into trouble as an illegal carry. The blade is reasonably sharp as supplied and although carbon steel is harder and will hold a (slightly) sharper edge it will stain/corrode without attention. This is effectively all you need unless you're a Ray Mears wannabe.

A really nice knife, a little on the small side, but fits in a pocket OK.It is a little stiff to open at the moment, but not too bad. It is really sharp.CAUTION, this knife has a locking blade, therefore, in the eyes of the law the same as a sheath knife or other fixed blade knife. If you are caught with this in public without a very good reason you could find yourself in deep water with the Police.

This knife does the job very well. Lockable blade safer than standard "pen knife". Stainless blade easy to sharpen (due to its shape) and doesn't tarnish/rust (had a similar knife for a few years until I lost it). Handy to have in rucksack when out and about in the hills and countryside.

very nice like the one i had before but the price i was charged for postage was a joke the packageing wieghed twice as much as the knifethe wieght of the knife was 38g the packageing was 96g and i was charged £6:oo for thisso i no longer use auto purchase

it's a great knife, light weight and a great blade. It comes quite sharp and the blade hasn't dulled much with general use so far.Ideal to have in your: fishing box, camping supplies, gardening

I purchased this knife, as i work at a yard full of horses and donkeys, so it saves searching for some form of instrument to open a bale. Arrived in good time, the blade was very sharp!!!

Pretty good quality. Locking is positive, blade is sharp. Maybe not the best stainless 'inox' around and tarnishes with acidic substances.Overall - good for the price.

This is a brilliant affordable penknife, I didn't want a knife that did lots of things just a penknife to cut. It is very sharp and I love the safety catch.

Cool take on the traditional Opinel. The colored handle looks and feels great plus the lanyard makes it stand our from the usual No7.Same great knife.
