This litter box has only just arrived so can't comment yet on its working status. It is smaller than I had expected although it will be okay for my cat, she is not particularly large (except around her stomach!). The litter tray I am replacing is much bigger though so she won't have as much room as she has been used to, particularly with the cover of course. I wanted a covered tray to help keep the dust levels down, but I'm not sure this one will be what I was hoping for in that respect, although it will no doubt reduce the dust a bit. The back is very high, but the front is low and with the flap open (as it will be for some time at least)my cat will be kicking the litter out of the gap with even slight scratching about - never mind when she really goes to town. The whole thing arrived undamaged - I was concerned after reading some reviews - and sits together very neatly. I found the two side clips extremely difficult to close and hope I will not have to be taking the box apart very often as I think they will not stand very many openings and closings. There is also no carry handle. From what I had read, I had the impression that the "handle" was a sort of solid finger grip inside the recessed part on the top. However, this is not a solid grip as such. It is the crossbar of the top bit that lifts up (where the filter goes), and so this is very dodgy if the tray is filled with litter as the weight is being borne solely by the little nobs that fix that part of the lid to the box. I have lifted it but extremely gingerly. The bottom of the tray is quite thin but it will serve the purpose with no trouble I should think. The whole thing is very neat looking indeed, much nicer than my previous tray and takes up much less room in my tiny bathroom. I think it is very good value for money. What the old girl who will be using it will think still remains to be seen, and I may update my review after she has had a few days to get used to it.Update: My cat changed to this new litter box without concern, but I am not happy. She doesn't have enough room in my mind to move around freely inside and the height definitely isn't enough. She goes in and does her business and reverses out again, which is making me feel guilty as this is obviously not ideal in terms of her ease and comfort. As I said, she is not a big cat. Also, to my surprise and dismay, there seems to be more dust now than there was with my open litter tray. When I clean out the mess there is a cloud of dust inside the box that is choking even to me, so goodness knows how my cat is affected when she is scratching. No wonder she nips in and reverses out. So the litter box looks lovely, but for me it has nothing else going for it at all.

The door to this product isn't the best design of its type; the "cat flap" entrance hangs a little open, which would be a problem for people wanting this tray to prevent smells and litter tracking. I solved this issue simply by mounting the door back to front, curved side INward. This lets the door hang more like it is designed to, and close more fully. The tray is a decent size, would suit medium to reasonably large cats, and the whole front panel lifts for ease of checking, scooping and filling. Not certain how helpful the carbon filter provided is, but you could always purchase alternatives. The plastic is high-shine, which looks fine but will show any scuffs or scratches after time.High shine plastic will also suffer over time when exposed to urine time and again,so owners can expect white "staining" inside the pan, which is totally normal and you won't see anyway.Overall an affordable tray of this design, as they can run pretty expensive. Pair with some enzymatic litter box cleaning products and decent litter and it'll do the job!Note: for cats to whom this type of tray is unfamiliar, begin by offering the product without the lid, then with the lid but without the door, and so on, to get your cat used to using it. If you rush this step, many sensitive cats will start eliminating elsewhere because it freaks them out.

We have a cat that is determined to stay indoors, unless it is the summer when she joins us in the garden. We had an open litter tray for a few years, and it largely served the purpose - except for occasional 'accidents'. However, as our cat has advanced in years, the 'accidents' started to happen with more frequency - and were amazingly 'cat'astrophic. In that, our lovely, sweet kitty was spraying the wall by the tray with the power of a fire house. It was going everywhere. So, I looked around for something that might be a bit more enclosing and after reading a few reviews, decided to settle on this one. We could not be happier! Our cat is perfectly happy doing her business inside the cat toilet.Smells are largely kept inside, even though we don't actually use the cat flap door bit. And, our walls are now kept perfectly dry. Win-Win all around. Highly recommended.

Great cat toilet. The first one came broken but a replacement was sent out straight away.I already have one hooded cat tray (different brand from argos) and after recently getting a kitten and having my older cat interact it was clear a need for a second hooded tray was needed as they were both starting to kick litter EVERYWHERE and it was making the room smell. This tray is deep, and the back is very high, so this is good for cats who like to kick litter about so it doesn't escape, and would be good for kitties who like to spray or wee up the back of the tray (luckily both my ladies squat nicely)The flap area has a grey bit on the lid which lifts up to create a wider area to enable cleaning the tray out without complete dismantling. The only drawback is that the flap doesn't close completely so the smells still escape.

I'm new to hooded litter boxes and this has changed my life. I liked it so much that I bought another one for my sister in law.My cats are hesitant about the flap so I leave this open (this wouldn't be a problem if your pets know how to use a cat flap) but the closed design still ensures that litter isn't thrown out everywhere. There is an air vent at the top where you could slide in a 'filter' to reduce odours that escape. The opening is large enough to comfortably scoop out poop without hitting your arm on the inside.

I hate having a litter tray in the house but my cat is 18yrs old now so had to start having one again.I wanted one like this to keep the smell inside and so I don't have to look at the litter,My cat has never used a cat flap, so knew she wouldn't just go in there, so I have used it to feed her with for a few days first. I show her the food then pop her dish in and she gingerly goes inside for it.Its easy to clean as the whole lid comes off and the flap is also detachable if your cat isn't keen.

Got it in the sale, unsure whether my cats will want to use it. It was slightly fiddly to clip it on first time but no problems since. The flap as well as the filter part can be pushed up which was perfect for me. Left it open for few days until I was sure the cats will use it. The flap could be slightly bigger as it leaves a gap but it might be to allow your pet to get out easier. There's no smell coming out of it and even the 12 week old kitten can easily get in and out.

Excellent litter tray. When we got our kitten we bought a traditional style litter tray. Big mistake! Yes it was cheap but OMG the kitten scattered the litter the full length of the kitchen everytime he went. Bought this and he took to it straight away. We were a bit worried that the fact that it was enclosed would stop him going in. Nope filled it with litter and he went into it right away. We did have to take the door off though as he didn't like it on.

We got this two months ago and it's working great for my 5 month old Persian. However scooping is a mess unless you lift the entire lid off, so we're not clicking it shut just in case the plastic closures that connect the lid start breaking, but it's still working fine like that. Minimum 10kg litter recommended also but a litter mat because while coming out the cat can make a mess.

Excellent value for money. Easy to put together, looks nice, and keeps the majority of the mess and smell contained. Obviously you'll still get some kickback of cat litter and you'll still be able to smell a little but it's much better than the big standard cat litter without a hood. My kitten loves to use it and spends a good 10 minutes in there at a time.

It took a while to arrive but looks great, nice and roomy as well as easy to scoop and empty. Read various reviews saying the door is a few inches shy of lining up with the front, which I thought too at first - until I realised that I'd hung the flap on back to front. The lip needs to point outwards and then it's a good fit.

Good sized kitty litter - and useful flip top to help you clean out. However the 'door' / flap doesn't hang flush with the tray so there's a gap between the tray and the cat flap. I thought this would leak smells, but TBH I haven't really noticed anything. Cat flap swings well so my cat can get in and out easily.

This is a good sized and good quality litter tray which has a flap on the top which can stay open or closed. My cat wasn't understanding that it worked like a cat flap so I lifted the lid properly and now she uses it all the time. I am no longer cleaning up spillages either. I am happy with this purchase.

I paid £1.99 for the lime and green as an add on item! I bought it purely because of the price. I wasn't expecting much, but I'm so delighted! It's a great design, and the cats love it. I didn't bother put the swing flap on as I never put it on the last tray either. Defo an amazing buy! Recommended!!

I bought this because it was fairly cheap. It's sturdy, nice and big and the cats weren't troubled to go in there. It doesn't conceal the smell of cat poo as well as I hoped but you are able to lift the little flap up to use a poop scoopOther than that. A very well made cheap product.
