It's way too big! And somehow I got a lead and halti instead of two halti head things i chose two different sizes but one was a lead instead:( the description said would suite certain breeds but I suppose all dogs have different head sizes. Lots of room to make it smaller but on smallest setting it's still massive and goes up over the eyes. I'd say this would fit a Rottie not a spaniel anyway. And so much room you should probaby measure first like I didn't. Also return is more than the product cost in the first place so no point returning will just have to order another two haltis and try to sell these myself.Ok update, now that the dog has stopped trying to turn her head sideways in it due to some great chicken liver pate,it actually pretty much fits fine on the smalles setting. I decide to have a go of the lead and just get us out the door with it and oh y god it was amazing!!!My dog has always pulled since I really badly tried to use a choke chain with her years ago without knowig what I was doing, I turned her into a pulling dog she could have pulled a Sled. Years and years of attempting to keep a all assertive energy (Cesar Milan's advice) while having my shoulder dislocated ..... I went out the door and the lead was very log so while I locked the door I just slung it over like a handbag, across my body. And I literally walked the whole walk with it that way! Hands free! Gave her a heel common about three times and a tiny tug on her nose lead, the other end on her collar ... And the lead around my shoulder! Magic! On the way back I took the lead of and held it really loose and she didn't even try to get ahead of me! I'm so happy I got this for the sake of my back and for my nerves it's so aweful to have a dog who pulls you down the road just feel like everyone is judging you. And much as I have loved Cesar Milan no same person can keep a totally calm energy while being dragged through te town by a medium sized dog.I will actually look forward to walking the dog now instead of dreading it and my back will thank me! I'm going to order another for my other dog who doesn't pull but sniffs the ground a lot and so I can connect them and walk hands free! Wish I had known years ago about these as I often didn't bring my kids with me due to not having enough hands for two dogs and two kids now I will have my hands and my dogs at my heel! I can't believe how well it works!

I like everything. Easy to use. Changed my life. Genius invention. I was just about to give my dog to new home as I am heavily pregnant and she is a very powerful puppy (1 year old) who needs constant training and supervision due to her size and her power. As they are a very strongly prey driven breed, no amount of training at her age could stop the bolt and transfix mode she will go into if she sees what is deemed to her as prey. This device inhibits the behaviour because as soon as it goes on, her psychology changes, she knows she can not bolt because it disables all her power and concentrates the pulling weight onto the bridge of her nose, therefore pulling her nose if she pulls. She doesn't really like it being on I can tell as she mopes about a bit but she gets used to it and over the months i have been able to stop using it for periods as it trained her not to pull and to bolt away less. Her behaviour changed a lot. If I know I am in a high risk situation i put it on, i.e. potential for rabbits, squirrels, cattle of any kind, deer etc when the situation would be dangerous, for example near any traffic if there are also potential prey or stimuli. If you have a big powerful dog and struggle with any aspect of their power/strength in particular situations this is a life saving device. Prey driven bolting behaviours are made almost impossible. Now I am heavily pregnant and SAFE to walk my dog. She no longer has the power to pull me over or yank me about! And her behaviour is utterly different even without it on after periods of use.TIP: use positive training techniques to ensure the dog isn't traumatised by wearing it and therefore will gladly let you put it on or at least not try to yank it off once it is on. I give her the favourite meaty special treats as i put it on and tell her how good she is and then give her more treats as i fasten it and more as it is on before the walk so the whole experience of it being fastened is positive. She will still resist a bit and sometimes try to claw it off, they get used to it if you use it positively.

This product arrived within the time frame specified in the delivery details. It arrived in the typical Amazon cardboard envelope style packaging as it is a slim product. This style of packaging is ideal as it is very easy to open and doesn't require scissors. The product and packaging arrived in excellent condition. With regards to the packaging of the product itself, it is encased in a clear plastic casing, which surprisingly is VERY easy to open. It does not use the old style plastic packaging which is a nightmare to get into but instead, an easy open box style packaging whereby the front simply pops open and is easily revealed and reused. As a whole the packaging is aesthetically pleasing,it has an image of a size relevant dog on the casing and clearly shows how to fit the halti. In addition, enclosed is a small booklet with fitting instructions and tips and tricks for training your dog as this is the purpose of the product. The product itself is black in colour so gender neutral and its strong. It is clearly of excellent quality and manufactured well, very durable and easy to use. The stamps to fasten around the neck of your dog have the ability to be made slightly smaller or bigger should you require it but you should also ensure you buy a size specific one for your dog as the nose band does not. The nose band can be made tighter as it has a small buckle underneath but this would not compensate for ordering an unsuitable size. This product is, as mentioned incredibly easy to fit and works wonders for dogs in training and or those who like to pull. Our dog HATES her halti because she knows she cannot pull us, funnily enough we LOVE the product. It does not harm the dog nor is it uncomfortable for the dog, quite simply it does the exact job it promises and eases the pulling. We have used this product for a few weeks now, and saw effects immediately and are continuing to see improvements. Based on this I am more than happy to award this product 5 stars!!! Excellent value for money!

I've tried a head harness where the leash clips to the back of the head and a loop goes around the muzzle, under the suggestion of a professional dog trainer. However, it led to my dog hating walks and being even more anxious outside. I was hesitant to use another head harness but saw how big the results were in another dog, so I decided to try it out.Overall, this version of the halti is great for directing attention away from distractions or reminding my dog that I'm there so she doesn't freak out. She's highly anxious and will scramble at the sight/sound of cars, rustling bags, etc. With the halti, it helps remind of her of my presence without irritating or disturbing her walk. She doesn't have a problem pulling; instead, she would stop and refuse to carry on the walk. With the halti, I can gently coax her and pull slightly to get her to start walking again. If that doesn't work, I just pull a little harder and usually she'll come and get back into the rhythm.Since she had some prior experience with head halters, training her with the halti wasn't difficult. But she always play-runs away when I take it out for walks! No treats or toys will trick her. So I encourage her to come without pressuring and then instead of shoving the harness on, I rub her muzzle and ears and neck with the harness as a massage. Usually after a few seconds of this massage she will "get dressed" and put on the muzzle without a problem. So far it's made a big improvement in my anxious beagle mix so I'm glad I could find something that helps both of us enjoy long walks together!!Ps. I prefer this over the optifit halti bc it doesn't use a clamp under the muzzle. Instead it has a second smaller loop that tightens around the muzzle when pulled, like a martingale collar. It allows my dog to open her mouth completely (I.e. To yawn or pant with tongue out) whereas the other harness might not allow the mouth to open all the way.

UPDATE 10/2015: The connecting clasp prong broke and I'm not sure how since it happened when we were not using it. That is a disappointment. I will need to get another one.(original review:)My dog trainer recommended this for my very aggressive dog that doesn't respond well to chain chokers even with command practice. I've been using this for just over a month and my dog is so much more behaved after 5 years of working with a trainer on my rescue dog. It has more to do with my anxiety level being dropped because she uses much less torque in her pull and the natural effect of a excited pull gently closes her jaw. I tied the muzzle just slightly tighter to make it more secure on her and keep the lead latch from bumping into her "elbows".She is still resistant to putting it on at times and does the head rub to try to get it off but that is correctable quickly too with the lead and composer of the pack leader (me). We are so much happier for this and I recommend this to any pet owner with a difficult dog to walk and those who need to feel more secure in their dog being around other animals. The key is the leader of the leash to use their skills with their dog and you'll have a much more enjoyable time walking your dog. My dog also seems more at ease because she seems to feel she is better behaved (think about a child who finds a learning and discipline style that suits their personality/functioning). I really wish I had found this Halti before my numerous injuries that made me have to hire a dog walker so I wouldn't get hurt more and putting my dog and others at risk of harm. As I said, you must combine this with a leadership style of training your dog but the effect will take place much sooner than other devices that are harsh or ineffective for your dog. It's not much different than a bridle for a horse. (lol, I have always called my pup a mini pony anyhow. )

We bought this after getting a recommendation from our neighbour who trained their dog with one. We were at our wits end with our 11 month Newfoundland as he was most insistent that walkies meant 'go-go-go!', dragging us, occasionally lifting us off our feet, and pulling our shoulders so that they felt as if they were leaving their sockets. I admit we were a bit skeptical, but it really works. he didn't like us putting it on the first few times, but following the training instructions and rewarding him for sitting like a good boy so that it could be easily fitted worked wonders, as did giving him treats when he stopped trying to paw it off during walks. After only a week,a trip to his favourite walking spot along the canal one sunny spring day finished his disdain for the Halti completely as he forgot to pay any attention to the thing on his head. As for how the walks went for us on our end, well, straight off to bat, he had to be lured with a Dentastick (his fave treat) to get up off the floor and let us take him walkies. When he wasn't trying to stop and paw it off, walks were smooth and comfortable, and have remained so since. We can now take him along as we pop to the shops and carry bags home without it being awkward as we try to get a handle on him, he pays more attention to what and where we wish him to go (no more trying to dash out into the street after a blown leaf!) and he's also learned to sit beautifully and allow more nervous dogs to pass him without becoming boisterous as well as learning to cross streets according to the signal, sitting until the green man shows and he hears the beeping. He is so manageable now that our children are able to walk him on their own. I recommend not waiting and getting one straight off when leash training as we wasted a lot of time, effort, and money on other methods that simply did not work.

After trying different collars , harnesses and trying to train to heal .... when I had good intentions of walking my petite 10 month old border collie pup who is around 15kg for lovely walks , he made walking to the field an absolute nightmare ... I was embarrassed at him dragging me down the street , and frustrated and trying to keep a close lead that my hands would be throbbing not a pleasure at all .....so I used to drive to the field and let him straight off the lead, off the lead he is fantastic on the lead he is a devil!Wearing a collar he would be choking himself but still wouldn’t stop the pulling , wearing a harness turned him into a steam train giving him power to drag me.I’ve researched and looked at all my options ,figure of 8 leads, Haiti’s and just basic training I’m no expert but I tried my best. I was originally put off of the halti because of the nose strap I don’t think it looks kind on the dog. However received the halti today , and had my first walk! Wow what a difference the pulling has stopped straight away! He does try and use his paws to get it off but it was his first time and was no biggy and I think a few more times he will stop that and everyone says this is normal until he gets used to it.I actually enjoyed walking with him today, and he instantly stayed at my side.Afterwards there were no marks on his snout and the fit was perfect I used the recommendation on the chart for the breed, I was a bit dubious as my dog is very small for his breed but it fit perfect , I used the halti training lead so I could clip to the halti and to his collar but hoping in time I can just use a normal lead clipped to his halti. For anyone who has a dog that pulls I can’t recommend this product enough . After spending a fortune on various other anti-pulling aids this is definitely a keeper!

Why did we not use one of these from the start? Our first dog was always good to walk to heel on or off lead, but our second a lab flat-coat cross, has a highly developed tracking instinct in her genes. She will walk to heel off lead, but when we have to use the lead she pulls, to the extent that I have sustained minor tendon damage. We were wondering if we had made a mistake buying her, I had to do something before the damage to my wrists became more of an issue due to the daily injuries. Dog walks had gone from pleasurable experiences to something we dreaded and painful when a lead was involved. We followed the enclosed instruction and fed her treats through the Halti, for a couple of days and put it on her for two meals. On the third day we put it on her for a walk. The transformation was instant, no pulling what so ever, almost like a totally different dog. She did paw at it a bit but gently pulling the lead and a command got her walking by my side again, then a reward for the good walking behaviour. We did get through a few extra treats on that first walk. I can now take her on the lead using literally one finger.Such a simple and humane device. From the dogs point of view I think the Halti may be an irritation at worst, certain no pain or major restriction involved, which is reassuring when she paws at it. I would highly recommend this product to any one who has a dog that pulls excessively, or pulls suddenly in response to certain trigger situations, it quite simply stops the behaviour. If we get another pup or adult dog they will be introduce to a Halti from day one.We had no doubts about the quality of Halti products as we have been using Halti leads for many years. This item mains our faith in the quality of their products.

I teamed this with Ancol Air Hold Padded Collar and what a result!Whilst the padded lead saves you from those painful pull marks on you're had/ wrist. The Halti just cures everything else! I used to dread walking my big Labrador boy. (He's massive and strong and I'm a fairly petite woman) Now I cant wait to walk him, its so easy. I'm not sure how it works, Maybe a combination of "head steering" and having a firmer grip of him but he barely pulls now. And if he does give you a little tug, Its so manageable! Like walking a toy poodle and not my complete bear of a Labrador. This is ultimate for lead training. My boy excelled ain everything else. He's such a good boy, Toilet training took him half and hour,he never chews or steals. He sleeps in his own bed and stays off the furniture. He's gentle and the perfect dog. But on the lead he turned into a nightmare. No respect and he never EVER listened. The Halti literally changed him instantly. He stopped pulling immediately, he listened (he actually realized i was on the other end of the lead). And a major breakthrough: He walks to my heel! we take nice slow strolls now rather than me getting dragged to the park. I LOVE walking him now. I feel more respect and our bond is amazing. I'm never ever mad at him any more.I must note that if your dog has never tried this, He will throw a tantrum (Occasionally he still does). He will try scratching and rolling and running away from the Halti at first (But its very secure and easily adjustable) Has a cool plastic clip so its super easy to slip over his nose. Not at all fiddly. Oh and just as an end note: It looks really smart! He looks mature and handsome and seriously cute (And it washes easily in the machine).Absolutely %100 worth the buy!

I have a 2 year old husky, and I've tried everything I could to have him stop pulling like I'm a sled. I couldn't take him anywhere, yet alone anywhere mildly busy, without me losing my arm. Walking my beloved dog has become one of the biggest stressors of my life, and that in return made me feel like a bad person and that I have failed him and me. This collar was my last hope before getting a dog trainer. And the change is INCREDIBLE. You wouldn't believe it if you see it!! I walked him through a shopping street, TWO dog parks, around my town, anywhere my feet took me. And I come back home with a tired and satisfied pup, because I'm not stressed, he's not stressed, and we're both back to enjoying our most favourite thing; outdoor time together. I got the training lead along side the collar and have attached this to his harness, as I saw that the collar is prone to breaking. It hasn't as of yet, but if it does I'm not going to be surprised as I knew this by all the reviews. Then I'm just going to get another afterwards. Absolutely life changing. A child could walk him. A cat could probably walk him. Getting it on was weirdly easy too, I was expecting a big fuss and a couple of days of training him into it. But I introduced it to him with some mince, and an hour later when it was time to brave the outside it was easy peasy getting it on him. He would try and paw it at first but he very quickly got used to it. Now once I out his harness on, he waits because he knows the collar is coming on as well. I cannot rate this product enough. I finally have the dog that is amazing inside the house, outside too. 100/100 stars.

This is amazing. My dog is very fearful of being outside, she's a rescue and while I'm not clear on her history, I doubt it was a good one. Anytime I took her outside she would freak out, pull on the leash, pull me, try to slip out of her collar, try running into traffic; you name it, she's done it.I've tried so many things; multiple training collars, harnesses, calming chews, treats, etc. Nothing worked and eventually I found a website that recommended the Halti head collar. I bought it, I feared it wouldn't work as I've tried other training collars like this, but I thought I'd give it a chance and I am so glad I did.I spent about a week getting her used to wearing it around the house before venturing outside for what I thought would be another stressful walk. No, as soon as I started walking, she walked with me. No pulling, no struggling to go back to the house, no trying to slip out of her collar, no running in the street. After months of not being able to enjoy a walk with her, I was finally able to. She was being so good, walking perfectly. She struggled a few times and pulled a bit but not even close to how bad it was before using Halti, and when she did struggle, she soon realized it wouldn't get her anywhere so she went back to walking normally. This was by far the best purchase I have made for my girl.Just make sure to get the correct measurements. My dog is a medium size, about 35lbs, and her collar measurement is about 14inch give or take an inch or 2. I almost got the wrong size but thankfully double checked before ordering.

I have a 9 month old Labrador who pulls like a train and had taken all the pleasure out of going for a walk. She took me for a walk, not the other way round. I have had my shoulder wrenched out of its socket, my little finger broken and basically had come to dread taking her out, then my neighbour mentioned the Halti. I'd never heard of it up until that point but thought it was worth trying.I researched a number of anti-pulling devices, leads/halters etc, and decided that the Halti did look to be the best option. When I first pit it on my dog, she didn't like it and kept trying to pull it off. However once I got her outside and she realised we were going for a walk she forgot about it and concentrated on the walk instead. She did her usual trick of bounding ahead, only to realise she couldn't stride off because the fitting of the Halti means that her head would turn back to me when she pulls and she can't go anywhere. It took about 10 yards before she had sussed that there was no point in pulling and she walked quietly for the rest of her walk, and has done ever since. I only wish I had bought this product sooner, my dog is now a pleasure to walk again,I can't believe how effective it is.Once on the walk, she doesn't bother about the Halti at all, has never taken it off, and even if she did there is a safety strap which clips onto the dog's existing collar to prevent them getting away. But I have had no problems, just lovely quiet walks, so I would wholeheartedly recommend a Halti for anyone who has a dog that pulls on the lead.

I love the Halti! I have a super energetic German Shepard mix I adopted from a shelter and she is pure muscle and pulls like a freight train. I tried everything, from numerous different no pull halters, dog backpacks, martingale collars, a collar made by a famous dog whisperer, etc., and this is the one thing that works best for me. It has made the biggest difference of any product and I am now a loyal customer! No, the Halti won't last forever, but what do you expect?! I walk my dog for at least an hour everyday and after three years, I'm on my 4th or 5th Halti at this point. They will eventually wear out (they're not made of steel, they're fabric), but at the price you pay and the difference you'll experience when walking, big deal. The extra clasp that can be attached to a collar does provide extra piece of mind. My dog was attacked by a loose dog on a walk and when her Halti broke from the ensuing scuffle, that extra attachment to her collar kept me from losing her, so I really value that extra piece. Your dog may be a bit irritated on the nose and want to rub the Halti off or rub her face on you from the irritation after it's removed, but it doesn't actually hurt your dog. The nose piece is lightly padded and if you associate wearing the Halti with a fun experience like going for a walk, the small bit of irritation is manageable; just don't leave your dog alone wearing it and don't stand around; get to walking already! It's made to be used with adult supervision and works like a charm if you use it for its intended purpose.

My dog isn't too bad when it comes to pulling, however, getting him to stay by my side seems beyond him (He just wants to be 2 ft in front). I just needed that little extra. His main problems are people on bikes and other dogs. A 1 year old German Shepherd on one side and a 2 1/2 on the other. The older on is calm, however, young max is beginning to become a handfull and it's having an effect on Zeus, who is calm as you like.I researched some aids and decided on this Halti Head collar. I introduced him to it slowly, using treats, and patience. He was soon wearing it no problem. I then took them out. There was about a 10 minute period when he was trying to get it off, but that soon passed.Fantastic piece of kit.Instantly walking to heel with only the tiniest adjustments with the wrist required. The inevitable bike coming towards us, but by this stage he realised that if he pulled, his head would go down and mouth closed. test passed. My issue was when he saw another dog. He was a lot better than usual but when he pulled away from me (Facing me and backing up), the collar slipped from under his chin and ito his mouth. About 1 second later it was chewed through. Bin.Now this may be my fault as it was a little too big, perhaps, but on reflection, I think I could've chewed through it in a minute or so.I will be buying another one as it is not as restrictive as a muzzle and a lot more effective. (I will look for a more expensive, hence, harder wearing one this time)

I always use a halti-like attachment when I lead-walk my German Shepherd as he is still quite young and very strong and impulsive if he either sees another dog or even a cat. He is stronger than I am and I can't hold him otherwise without looking like a cartoon dog-owner as I cling desperately to the nearest lamppost.I have tried different brands and also like the Beophar gentle leader but I have recently bought another Halti and it seems to fit and stay in place best. I chose the red one so that it looks more playful than the black one as people sometimes see a black one and assume the dog must be vicious as "he is wearing a muzzle"!!!! The size 3 needed no adjusting when it arrived - set exactly for him.Although he is a large GSD, he has quite a fine head and neck so the 3 would presumably be ok for quite a few dogs who are smaller than he is. I imagine the GSDs with the beautiful huge heads would need a larger size. The halti certainly gives you more control over your dog (ok, I should have trained him better) but if you are female and small, it's definitely the way to go and if you are male and strong, you will still benefit from using the halti because they just don't pull as much or as suddenly when they are wearing one. I feel that one strong benefit of the halti is that it makes the dog-walker feel more confident that they can handle any situation and when the dog-walker is calmer, the dog is calmer too. I would strongly recommend the use of a Halti.
