We travel by car quite a bit with my boy (a 5yr old springer) in the back seat. I've always been concerned about his safety in the event of an accident but, despite having tried several products over the years, I've never been able to find a harness that he would accept. Until now. I am amazed at how well my furball has taken to wearing it! No fuss, no fidgeting, no cringing or dragging himself along the ground to try to get it off. Yes it took a little acclimatisation, but even so - amazing! I am thrilled with this harness, it's a great buy!!The harness goes on without any drama; just slip it over your dogs head & fasten together the plastic clips on either side. It's easy to alter the size to fit using the two slides above the clips. Its strong, being made of seatbelt strapping thru-out, but comfy, being lightly padded under the belly & over the shoulders, & more so at the chest. A loop of seatbelt strapping comes out of the top (or back) of the harness which has a metal piece at the end which fits the seatbelt clips in both my Hubby's VW Golf & my own aging Ford Fiesta. Alternatively you can slip the seatbelt of your car thru the loop on the harness & fasten it as normal. My boy is on the big side for a springer so I got a Large; we've adjusted it so its as small as it will go & it fits like a glove. Measure up first & trust the sizings given in the product description - they're spot on.One negative aspect to it. The packaging says this product as a walking harness; fair enough, you can attach the lead to the seatbelt fitment. But it also says you can leave it on while the dog is exercising off the lead. This is all well & good if your dog is calm or lazy, but mine bounds about like a loon & dives thru hedges! A lump of metal flapping about on the end of a length of strapping is hardly ideal in these circumstances. Since this part is not removable, we've learnt to carry a strong elastic band so we can wad it up out of the way.

Initially I bought a Small version of this harness for our Swedish Vallhund puppy aged 12 weeks. The Small size turned out to be too big at the moment, so I bought an Extra Small too. Both harnesses are very well made and appear to be well thought out. I have not had the chance to try the harness out in the car but have tried it on our puppy to get the adjustment right. With the Extra Small size it is immediately obvious that the part going round the dog's neck is very small and it will only be a matter of a week or two before the puppy's head will be too big to go through although the chest part will be generous for some months. There is no adjustment to the harness where it goes round the neck.A Swedish Vallhund in size is similar to a large Corgi but on longer legs but the head is fairly narrow, so it is a surprise and disappointment that the harness is not adjustable around the neck.We will however carry on with these harnesses and see how things work out.My purchases were made through Mr Pets who have been very quick indeed in sending out the items and I would certainly not hesitate to buy from them again.Added 15 August 2011: Our puppy is now 15 weeks old. The Extra Small harness is now too small in collar size and is very difficult to remove although the chest size has quite a bit of adjustment left to go. The Small size harness is still far too large to use. We are now left unable to use a safety harness in the car. This of course applies to our dog only and your experience may be different.Added 16 September 2011: Our puppy is now nearly fully grown and the two Clix harnesses have been discarded. We bought an Ancol harness which is in constant use as it is far better designed and far more adaptable. Trial and error can be rather expensive! We would recommend that others should take a serious look at the Ancol harness before making a decision.

I have had this product since 2012, so it has been given a thorough testing. I have a border collie that LOVES to walk, run, chase, pull - you know the score. Before I bought this, she had a normal collar and lead. She pulled so much with those, and either choked herself and gasped for air, or became Hairy Houdini and escaped her collar. When she was in the car, she would pace back and forth across the backseat - fur and slobber flying, but happy as a lark just to be going somewhere. So we bought this to solve both problems. When this product arrived, we found it extremely easy to fit on our dog, and easy to adjust to be snug. We tried it in the car, and while it snaps in well, she still was able to move about and stepped on the buckle and released herself. Yes it works - but perhaps better suited for a calmer dog. (now we have a cage in the back of the car by the way). BUT - this product is EXCELLENT for walking her, and we have been using it ever since. It is still in good shape and the connections are still tight, despite daily use. We use our normal retractable lead and connect it to the car buckle end. No more leaning dog when walking!! Its so much easier to control her and she is happier (and can breathe better for it). My partner and I highly recommend this for any dog owner.

I had to be careful when buying an in-car harness for the dog as looking at reviews of other products; most of them seem to be horribly undersized. Not this one though! It's a product for large dogs and it fits my large dog perfectly. She's a 26kg boxer and it fits comfortably and snugly around her bulky frame, although I think anything larger may be pushing the limits of what the harness can handle. The harness itself is very strong (made out of similar material to a seatbelt funnily enough) and the padded area is nicely cushioned and well placed at the top of the ribcage. It's really easy to fit as well, all you need to do is slip it over the dog's head and do up a couple of clips at the side and it's on.Can't testify for all cars, but the seatbelt buckle works in a current generation MX-5, in case anyone has the same car and is thinking about buying it.Only negative, as stated by other people, is that the seatbelt buckle can't be removed, which means it can't be used when the dog is roaming free without a lead as the buckle flaps about and scrapes on the ground. Still, having it removable would probably have compromised the strength of the buckle and in an emergency stop; your dog would probably thank you for having as strong a harness as possible.

I bought the large size Clix harness for my adult male German Shepherd. I really love the design of this harness, it seems really sturdy, it's very straight forward to use, and the design is just exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately this harness was just too small by several inches. I adjusted the straps to full stretch and only just about managed to click it together around my Shepherd. It was extremely tight, to the point that he couldn't actually manoeuvre his front legs to get up steps or stairs, and it was almost cutting into his flesh just underneath his front legs. I just needed a few extra inches of strap and it would have been a perfect fit!My German Shepherd is a little larger than average at 48kg - he is a very fit and healthy dog, not overweight, but rather tall! The design of this harness is so great, that I truly WISH the manufacturers would consider an XL size for those of us with larger dogs. This would also be of great benefit to owners of giant breeds such as St Bernards, Great Danes etc... as this harness is after all marketed as both a car harness and a walking harness. If this review makes it to the eyes of anyone at Clix, PLEASE introduce an XL harness. I'll be first in the queue to buy one!

We bought this to keep the dog safe, and to avoid being fined, as legal requirements here demand that dogs are restrained in cars. The harness part is snug and comfortable, with a wide, padded front section that is almost like a breastplate for the dog. She is very good about having it put on, although she is not 100% happy about having anything slipped over her head, and seems very comfortable and happy once it is fastened (two clips, one under each 'armpit', the same style as those on child harnesses) Unexpected benefits are that she settles more easily and is more relaxed in the car than when she is not wearing it - maybe because she doesn't feel as if she could fall off the seat - and shewalks calmly and doesn't seem tempted to pull on the lead when she has it on.The only slight disappointment has been that she can wriggle out of it, and does do so if we leave her in the car, for example while unloading shopping. Having it anchored to the selt-belt clip holds one end still and gives her something to pull against to do her Houdini act. She never tries to any other time, so I would not hesitate to recommend the product to anyone who wants to keep their dog safe and secure in the car.

I recommend this product because it fits directly into the car seat belt connection allowing some room for the dog to sit or lie down but does not allow the dog to slowly move forward bit by bit as other dog harnesses do when they are attached to the strap of the seat belt. The benefit of this, is during an accident the dog will not be thrown as far as with harnesses which clip onto the seat belt strap and of course if they slowly keep moving forward allowing the seat belt to move forward then there is not much point in the dog wearing the harnesss as it will not protect. Only by a harness which clicks directly into the seat belt connection. Also, this prodect has a thick and wide strap at the front so does not dig into the dog during an accident, and the material is of the same quality as a seat belt strap for you and I, so will not snap. Also, you can click the lead directly onto the harness when you want to let the dog out for a pee or a quick walk, so you don't have to take the dog in and out of the harness.Keep your dog safe.

Excellent harness to make sure your dog is safe in the car. Nice padded front and neoprene on the straps helps everything to stay comfy. I appreciate that the the clasps will only work one way which helps stop putting it on with a twisted strap. I have a 9kg Fox terrier and ordered the small which fits perfectly. Her chest measured exactly what the extra small goes up to, but remember you will have to account for some ease in the straps, which is why I went for the larger size. Some have commented that the strap is too restricting, but this is what it is meant for. There is no point ihaving a longer strap so if you have to stop suddenly your dog will still end up hitting the seats! Mine can sit, stand, lie down and turn around quite comfortably in this. I put the car seatbelt through the strap, I don't plug the strap in. She even likes leaning forward and having a a wee snooze in it! It is the only harness she has not been able to wriggle free from and she wears it without protest. Very happy with this purchase!

Brilliant design! My very safety conscious, mountaineer son was very impressed by the safety features in this harness. It was time my retriever pup sat on the back seat of the car as he had outgrown his crate in the back. This harness does the job perfectly holding him comfortably and securely in his seat. However, I did have one incident when he just reversed out of the thing by flattening himself and pulling back. He does not like going in the car as he gets a bit car sick so I have to make him get in. I don't think he realised he had freed himself and I quickly got it back on him, now I give a slight lift when I have to "persuade" him and there is no problem.I use the short strap to hold him when learning to walk close on lead.I also keep it on him when he is running free but think that once he is fully trained the extra strap on the back might be a bit restrictive and will need to take the harness off then.So absolutely wonderful as car harness and in training but maybe not the perfect walking one.

My Border Terrier is a bit overweight, 2 lbs approx. and is on a slow diet to reduce the extra weight. So, I bought the medium harness as I have medium in other brand and the other brand is a tad on the small side, so I assumed that my dog would require medium in this brand. But the medium was too big even on smallest setting.I have since purchased the small size and that is fine. It is also a good price for the quality, well made, generously cut, strong and sturdy. My previous brand is flimsy in comparison yet around the same price. A new one of that recently snapped on first usage, replacement did the same, so I researched other brands and found this one.I am very pleased with it.The chest part slightly padded so more comfortable for the dog, and easy to put on and off. Easy to use in the car and holds the dog secure but a little leeway for the dog to move around a bit. I had no trouble fastening it in my car. This harness also doubles for walking.

The harness is fully adjustable, (we have a medium to fit our beardie) and it clicks straight in to the seatbelt buckle so it's fast and easy to switch seats. The seatbelt webbing is ideal and the padding good, it fits easily by putting it over the dog's head then clipping together each side together at the top.The seatbelt length is sewn directly on to the harness which means it's not reliant on an extra catch which could fail. The downside of that for us is that when you're out of the car there is no system to fold the seatbelt metal tongue and webbing away. You can tuck the metal bit (tongue) in to a small opening on the top of the harness but one good dog shake and it comes free.If you attach a normal length lead to the seatbelt metal tongue it becomes too long so we've used a very short (as in almost just a handle) leash to clip on to it once we're out the car.We like it as a seatbelt system, we use an thinner harness for ordinary walkies.

I was very pleased, fitted my 2 poodles a treat once I adjusted them to fit nice and snug, got into the car plugged into seat belt and to my disappointment would not stay clipped into the seat belt clip, I already have other seat belt clips so had to use those and clip that onto the new harness which I do find it gives our dogs to much length to be safe we have a 4x4 Kia Sportage I did notice on the leaflet it wont clip into Volvo cars I will have to think of another way around of using this harness to clip into the back seat of the Kia so please any one that has a Kia Sportage it will not clip in hope this advice helps .Hi all just reread travel guide hint number 3 method for attachment you can thread seat belt through the connector strap if you are unable to plug the connector strap to the car seat usual attachment point , great sorted hope you all understand what I have written 10 out of 10.

This certainly seems to be a good quality harness and it clips into the seatbelt nice and securely. It looks comfortable for the dog and he never seems to have any problem while out walking with the harness on.Let's hope I never have to find out if it actually works as expected in an accident.A couple of things to note:The loop to secure the clip when the dog is out walking seems a little loose and I don't think will hold it for long if the dog is very active. My Lhasa is quite lazy, but I still had to reinsert it into the loop half way through a 20 minute walk. The collar is not adjustable, so you need to be sure to buy the correct size for your dog.I checked the manufacturer's website and bought extra small for our Lhasa as that was the size listed in the guide and although the body straps would have been OK, the collar was far too small. The small harness was a perfect fit for him.

I like this product very much have been using the extra small one for my Border Terrier Pup from 8 weeks old. She's now thirteen weeks old and I'm just about to order the next size up because, although it still fits round her middle, it's getting difficult to put over her head. The harness fixes into the safety belt clip rather than round the safety belt itself which I prefer. The puppy can't chew at the car safety belt and it's really quick and easy to click her in position.Another reviewer mentioned that this safety harness doesn't stop the dog from falling into the foot well and I would agree that this could be a problem. However, with our car I put cushions behind the front seats to prevent this from happening anyway. The puppy has got herself a bit tangled in the strap and I've had to unclip it a couple of times to sort her out. She can sit and lay down comfortably with it on.

This is a Brilliant Product ,I own a 2 year Whippet who was nearly always sick when travelling with me in the car.Since buying the harness this is no longer the case . Wearing the harness means he is now secure in the back seat of my car ,he is able to sit ,stand or lie down comfortably but no longer has to "fight" against the movement of the car .I also think the dog himself feels more secure wearing it and therefore more at ease while travelling. The harness is well made from quality material, easy to use - it has its own seat belt buckle that slots directly into the car's seat belt holder, and comfortable for the dog to wear .I bought the medium sized harness for my Whippet ,but he is on thehigher limits of size for his breed so would recommend other whippet owners buy the smaller size,or measure the dogs chest to ensure you get the right size .I highly recommend this product.
