I purchased two of these lights in white for my 2 GSD's Jan 27 2015 along with a 25 pack of the batteries that fit these particular lights. Upon receipt (received Jan 29 2015) one out of the two had a dead battery as the packaging that it arrived in was less than ideal. It came in a cardboard sleeve with nothing inside to prevent pressure from being applied and inadvertently activating the lights (Ex. air bags, bubble wrap, or biodegradable peanuts). I returned it immediately and Amazon quickly sent me a replacement which upon receipt was packaged better and worked upon arrival, yay! Or so I thought... I used these lights infrequently over the last 2 months (maybe a dozen times total between the two lights),and when they were used they were great -super bright making our dogs readily visible in fading light or even pitch black darkness. However, this evening I discovered the lights no longer want to stay on. I would like to point out that these lights NEVER got wet and when on, they were used just for a few minutes (long enough for a bathroom break) with the exception of an evening bike ride when each light was on for a steady 15-20 min ea. The lights are still perfectly bright so I don't think it's a battery issue BUT just to be safe I put new batteries in....aaaaand nothing changed. The lights turn on when pressure is applied but as soon as you let off it turns off. One reviewer stated that there was test mode on these lights but regardless of how long I pressed and held it didn't make a difference, they immediately turned off after the pressure was released. I'm beyond Amazons 30 day return policy so I'm going to try contacting the manufacturer directly to see if they will offer any assistance.Update 3/30/15: Received the following response today from the manufacturer, "Thank you for taking time to contact Nite Ize and your input regarding the Nite Ize SpotLit. I’m very sorry that our product did not live up to your expectations. At Nite Ize, we pride ourselves in manufacturing high quality products that stand up to the rigors of everyday use. We will always stand behind our products if a customer experiences an issue or would like a replacement item under our warranty policy. It sounds like you need new white LED Modules to get those SpotLits working properly again (the batteries sit inside of the LED Module). I would be happy to send you replacement LED Modules free of charge under warranty. You should see that package in 1-2 weeks."Update 4/11/2015: Received the replacements today. It was fairly easy to separate the two rubberized halves of the SpotLit and swap out the light module. Both are currently in perfect working order (fingers crossed) but I will try to update if/when any other issues arise. I upgraded my star review back to a 5 (*unless I encounter any other problems of course) because it was easy and painless dealing with the Nite Ize customer service and they essentially sent me two replacements (the light modules minus the casings).Note: I find that a Mr. Clean erase sponge easily removes any grime that builds up on the casing, making it look like new again.Update May 9 2019. All still work great. Favorite use is when we go camping, co-campers get a little jealous and wish their dogs had them to make them easier to locate =) also a handy backup flashlight when the humans light isnt very bright or worse dies. Used to use glow stick bracelets to wrap around their collars but these are so much brighter, stay on better, and last longer.

I just received the Nite Ize clip on light. I love it! AT first I thought it was perhaps too small, but once I squeezed the light(white) on, I realized it was plenty big enough due to the immense brightness of the little light.I put one on my dog's collar, sent her outside and watched her. She walked about 75 yards away and I could see her very VERY well from where I stood. She is a German Shepherd with a good amount of neck fur which did not deter the brightness of the light.I bought 3 of them based upon the good reviews here and glad I did. I might even buy a few more(for the backpacks, friend's dogs, coat zippers, purse). For a little over $5 per light,I am definitely quite satisfied------------------------It's been a month since I wrote my review of this light. I am still quite satisfied. I want to inform everyone reading this review that I had gone to ebay and found these NOT so same lights. They look like they are the same and at the time I found some for $3+ dollars and so bought some for my cats. What I want to tell you is those cheaper brands that I bought are toxic. They stink and when I put one on my cat, his eyes swelled. I am sorry I did not stick to this brand of light as there is NO TOXIC SMELL with the "Nite Ize SLG-03-02 SpotLit Clip-on LED Go Anywhere Light". I don't know if this brand is made in America, but at least it does not smell of toxic fumes like the other brands I bought... which still are out on my back porch in hopes of outgassing.I will definitely buy more of this brand of the clip on lights for my cats and stay clear of the other brands. And no, I have no special affiliation with this company nor distributor.

This SpotLit Clip-on LED is great for using on a dog collar. We evaluated several options including a LED collar and these clip-on lights. The problem with the collar is that the lights are not as bright and they do not go all the way around the collar. Due to this, there were times that the lights could not be seen based on the direction of the dog and/or the collar being covered with hair (Golden Retriever). These clip-on LED lights are bright and radiate outward so that you can still see the light when the dog is facing away from you. They are bright when the batteries are new - we have experienced about 3 months of usage on a single set of two batteries (requires two batteries)- batteries are also cheap - the Nite Ize website sells two for $2.19 and they can be found elsewhere for less (quality may vary). We had initially thought the bright light may distract the dog at night as it does radiate outward from the bottom of the collar - this didn't seem to affect her at all. They are lightweight but do add a bit to the weight of the collar - they do quickly clip on and off. We did notice they are now offering two types - one has a metal clasp and the other is plastic - based on the behavior of our dog, I would stick with the metal clasp - our dog scratches and at times can turn this unit on.Unit is turned on by squeezing the front and back - two modes - solid on and strobe light. To open, you simply peel the back off - it is a tight fitting plastic translucent cover. This is how you would change the batteries.HIGHLY RECOMMEND based on quality and purpose.

You need to make a slight modification to this item for it give many years of use - I know, I've had about four of these now! There's a metal prong in the battery compartment which keeps the batteries under tension and holds them in place. It's not spring loaded and with repeated insertions of batteries and pressing the light to operate it, the prong loses tension. You need to cut a strip of card or foil about 1cm by 4mm and insert the card underneath the prong so the prong can't be 'flattened' by the batteries. This maintains a nice tight fit and works perfectly (not too tight or the light won't work). I've also found putting a very thin sliver of tape or card around the circumference of the battery compartment keeps it snug in the housing. These 'mods' are easy to do and the light will last for years - it is easily the best light of it's kind on the market and the integrated clip is a great idea. My dog crashes through hedges and is always writhing around and it has stood up this and more! Only four stars as I think the manufacturers should include some kind of 'kit' to save making your own.One last thing: please don't use it on flashing mode whilst attached to your dog's collar. I can't think of anything more irritating as they are really bright. They work better - and are much more visible - attached to a harness and enable you to track your dogs whereabouts. During darkness they appear to be ghostly globes which float around the night air of their own volition. This is very amusing when passers by don't realise they're attached to my dog!!!

So, a few days ago, I was out walking with my pack, and we were nearly hit by a car. Fortunately, the car swerved, but it did so into an oncoming traffic lane, which also fortunatley was empty. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my pups or to someone trying to avoid us. As soon as I got home, I immediately went to Amazon, and started looking at reflective vests and lights.I watched the video of the guy with the three little dogs, and I was immediately sold. His video does not show just how far you can see the lights though. As we were walking, I could easily see the dogs with Aaron over 20 feet away, but where it really became obvious was when he was heading back to the house and I was at the park still- probably over 100 feet away. There was my pack, very well lit up, I could see the lights on each of them.Another neat fact, was that the ground is completely illuminated around them where the light hangs. I would say probably 3 feet or so. It's not huge, but without a head lamp of my own, I could see what was coming up on the sidewalk ahead. That was pretty cool. Also, while we were walking I noticed that cars slowed down (I don't care if it was because they were curious what the weird lights were) and two people saw us and walked on the street (their choice not ours), but the point is they saw us and were proactive instead of reactive. If you are considering these, BUY them!!! They are worth every penny. We will be buying two more - one for each of us to put on our jacket zippers.

Over the years, I have purchased a myriad of devices to try to protect my dogs during night-time park visits and travels. ALL will require some tinkering...if your dogs are rambunctious and/or mud puddle rollers like mine. They turn each others on/off while chewing on each other during play. Battery contact issues occur. But the price for these is very reasonable, and they are bright. I purchased batteries in bulk on the bay. Now, I am walking my sister's retriever pup, whose impulse control is non-existent, so the stakes are even higher. As lights go, these are my favorite thus far. I have three each on my two black hounds, one on each side and one centrally ontheir collars. When they are all functioning, you could see them from space. Usually at least one is on by the end of the walk.Compared to one visit to an Vet Emergency Clinic, this is a very minimal investment.I also strongly recommend the Hurrta pet polar vest and micro vest. These have reflective stripes and are bright colors...they never malfunction and are a comforting last line of defense. These run SMALL....my 75 pound black lab takes anXXL - he looked like Burt Reynolds in a cheesy remake of Deliverance in the XL. But he swims in his orange"Great Pumpkin" XXL. I need to take it in. This combo is the best I have found for some peace of mind.I can't keep my dogs leashed all the time. They need to run. But if they see a squirrel outside the park...all betsare off. Hopefully, this combo will protect them.

I bought these lights as I walk my dogs every night, and sometimes it's hard to see where they are going in the dark. These lights are purely for my benefit, not the dogs. One of my dogs is blind, so with this light on his collar it helps me to steer him clear of obstacles and goose poo on the path. The light projects onto the path for a range of about 10 inches in front of the dog (my dogs are around a foot tall, your results may vary), in a soft white glow, and is clearly visible from 30 feet away at least. They also look fabulous - many of my neighbors have come out asking where they can get them. For around $6 it's worth the amusement value alone, as when my little bichon runs her little light bobs around in the dark hilariously,I can't help giggling.I've been using them for about 30-60 mins each day over the last week, and the lights haven't dimmed yet, so I can't really comment on battery life past that.Only two things that could be improved - the light is very hard to turn on, the whole disc itself is a button, and you have to press down hard to get it to click on. Also the little spring loaded carabiner clips that attach to their collars are super stiff, it takes some effort to get them open. So I wouldn't recommend these for anyone with weak hands or arthritis.

This little light is perfect for attaching to a dog collar and clicking on before letting them outside to run around or do their business at night. It is small enough that is does not seem to be a bother to my dog, who will probably have it attached to her collar throughout the day for the sake of convenience. When I do let her outside at night it is easy enough to squeeze it once so that the light comes on. The light itself is very bright so not only can I see her position in the yard, but I can get a pretty good idea of what she is doing or getting into. I really look forward to having this in the future when we take her camping for the first time, as keeping track of a dog in the pitch dark woods seems like an intimidating task.In the future I will probably pair it with an LED lit collar, but for now this little light seems to be doing the job perfectly. I cannot speak at this time about the battery life, but if it lives up my previous experience with Nite Ize products it will most likely far exceed my expectations for a low cost item; additionally, it feels very sturdy - I do not have any concerns about leaving it on my dogs collar indefinitely. I will probably pick up one or two more to keep in our camping gear, just in case, but I definitely have high hopes.

My dog is dark grey and blends perfectly with shadows. These lights are perfect. They're bright, simple to use, lightweight, durable, waterproof, battery efficient, and safe. I use one on her harness and one on the loop of the leash so you can see dog AND person.7 months and the batteries just gave out. The clear has one scuff on it finally, and that's after being in pools, mud, sand, and other dogs' mouths (they do seem like an interesting chew toy!). No dirt or water in the casings. The wire gates are still going strong. It's small enough that it doesn't get caught and bent easily. That also means it's a little hard to open if you don't have fingernails, but it's not a problem for me.Very easy to change the batteries out. Each one takes 2x CR2016 batteries. A package of 2 batteries cost me ~$5 on AmazonThe only condition I haven't tested now is use AFTER prying off the cover to replace the batteries for the first time. The plastic might eventually wear out and fall off or lose the watertight seal. Even if it does, $8 for ~1+ year of safety and convenience is worth it.I love Nite Ize and recommend it to my friends and everyone at the dog park! (Bonus: Nite Ize s-biners have greatly reduced the number of lost camelbak bottles for me.)

This is a great invention! I placed this on my dogs collar so when she needs to go out in the middle of the night she's easier to see in the dark. This all white light will light up our entire back yard and makes the pooch visible from about 50 feet (you can see the light from further, but it's more of a glow). This little light is very durable and has been fully submerged in water (not recommended!) and is constantly being ht by other hard objects (collar and tags). The light was originally very difficult to turn off and on, but became easier after each use.I think this little light would be handy on more than just a dog collar. I believe this would be VERY HANDY for anyone who is a backpacker/hiker.You can latch it on the front of your jacket to light a way. Or, on a key chain, inside purse pocket, inside a tent, etc. The light is the size of a quarter and the clasp that is used to affix the light is easy to fit onto almost anything.Bottom line: this was a solid investment and a good tool for any pet owner, hiker, purse owner, etc. If this breaks, I would not hesitate to purchase this again - especially with what a convenience and workhorse it has been. Solid little tool!

I have two airedale terriers and let them into the back yard at night, where there is very little light. The one loved to sneak over and try to get in the pond, and being so dark it was hard to keep tabs on her. I tried using a regular flashlight, but sometimes the neighbors would think people were trying to break into the house.I bought two of the white Nite Ize and clipped them to both the dogs collars. I leave one on blink and the other on solid. It is simple to keep track of them. They put off enough light so I can see if they are trying to get into anything on the ground, and also to tell if they are going to the bathroom. I think they like them since they are able to see where they are going easier. It isn't too much light as to be a beacon for the entire neighborhood, but enough to be useful. The lights are small enough to leave on their collar all the time. The power button is hard enough to push so they wont be able to turn them off or on while shaking or playing. Make sure to hold the button when you first get them, as to turn it off of the testing mode. After that they stay on fine for 10+ minutes.Cheapest and most useful purchase I have made lately.

These little lights are very bright and grab the attention of anyone wearing them. I have them for my 2 Rottweilers. We live in the rural areas and it's always very dark. When I put them on their collars they glow like the police car (flashing red & blue) They are very bright, they also can be set to just stay on without flashing and the carabiniere is nice to hook on/off.There are only 2 turn off's. 1. My kids can't turn them on/off because they do not have enough finger strength to push the switch on/off. 2. The carabiniere is a bit small to fit around a wide dog collar or dog tag split ring. They also won't fit a pair of jeans because the hook is too small. You'll have to pickup some sort of converter to make them fit a pair of jeans. These are going to be great for Halloween as well. My 4 kids will each be wearing them so I know where they are when running around to get the candy and to fight off the rubber band and staple cutting into their faces from the mask they are wearing.Buy them, they are inexpensive, last a good while and are very durable. This is until my dogs decide they will want to chew them off each others neck when they play bite.

It is a decent light for the price. I have owned several of these same model of clip-on lights and so far none of them have completely died on me... so far only the battery runs out, or I lose them, thus the need for replacements. I have used them on my pets' collars, both my dog (Golden Retriever) as well as my cat. My dog has only once turned off the light from rolling too vigorously on it. It is a little too big for my cat, but the light is powerful enough to see where she is roaming in my backyard at dusk, which is exactly what I need.I will point out that I find it is a bit awkward to turn the light on and off, since to do so, you need to press down very firmly directly on the center of the light.I find this difficult to do with one hand, so I usually have to press it between both hands. Which is fine if the light is by itself your hand, but not as easy to do when you are trying to wrangle your cat, because you forgot to turn it on after putting the collar on... and she is trying to run away... ;) But I'd rather have a light that is tricky to turn on/off, so that it does not accidentally turn off while it is on my pet.

I love these LED collar lights. They're not jarring like the flashing red lights (but if that's your style, there's a flashing red light mode) and they certainly garner attention. It's easy for me to spot my dog and it's easy for others to spot my dog - the glow is visible from blocks away, which makes this an ideal addition to my dog's collar for night time walking. The attention it grabs from passers-by is also excellent, because it gives me time to gauge their reaction to my dog and to decide how I want to proceed. My dog is a rescue and judging by her reactions to certain situations, may have been subject to abuse. So it's very nice to have some extra time to guide her away from stressful situations or to formulate how to go about an interaction with people who are strangers to her.The battery lasts for about a month during warmer months, when I take my dog for long walks (3 to 4 miles), particularly at evening or during the night. My older dog who doesn't get out much can get 4 to 5 months of use from hers. The batteries are really easy to replace in these devices and not terribly expensive.

I use this as a marker while hunting deer in the Mid West. I frequently hunt a fair distance from my vehicle and often hunt alone. Hunting until the end of legal shooting hours, means that if successful I will be field dressing and retrieving the animal in total darkness. After successfully downing, field dressing and tagging a deer, I position one of these at the site so that I can accurately return back to the spot with my deer sled for retrieval. These weigh next to nothing, and I simply clip one on to my hunting shoulder bag, so I always have one available when needed. I do not have to worry about accidental activation with this product.I’ve been disappointed with other designs to find dead batteries when I needed to use them.I have also used this on my dog's collar and it makes it very easy to track him in the yard at night. If I hunted on public ground, I would have one of these in red and it would be on anytime I was moving to or from my stand during the hours of limited visibility. These are a very inexpensive “Life Insurance Policy” for the hunter and his dog or horse.
