I bought two of the Halti Harnesses. I measured each dog as described, and ordered a medium and a large harness. The harnesses fit our two dogs perfectly. We have a Great Pyrenees and an English Springer Spaniel. Both dogs are five years old, and we have had them since they were puppies. The big dog has vision problems, and the smaller dog does a great job of tugging and pulling on the leash. It took my dogs about a week to adjust to me putting the harnesses on them twice a day. I finally decided to just leave the harnesses on from the morning trip outside until after the afternoon trip outside. It took two more days, but then they were completely adjusted to wearing the harnesses. And they stand quietly twice a day to get the harnesses put on.I use a training leash, which has a connection on each end. So I attach one end to the chest ring, and the second connection gets attached to the ring on the middle of the back. The English Springer Spaniel would shake her body to get rid of the Halti Harness, but it doesn't move. She stopped running off to the side, and walks with me without any problems. The Great Pyrenees would stop walking (when wearing the Halti Harness), and try to walk behind me. It is very difficult to get a big dog moving, once it has totally stopped. So I would tell her to "Sit". And then have her sit in that position, until I told her to walk on. She got very tired of sitting, so she finally began moving calmly beside me.It is a few weeks into using the Halti Harness. And I have given it five stars. Both dogs are very well behaved when wearing the harnesses. The Great Pyrenees (with the vision problem) is much calmer and relaxed, as she can feel the harness and the leads. And she knows exactly where they are in relationship to her body. The English Springer Spaniel now walks close to me, and no longer tries to dodge off to the side. She is calm and much quieter now on her walks. It did take a good 2 - 3 weeks to figure out how to make this work for my dogs. And I had to try a few things (like having the big dog sit when she would not move), but it was absolutely worth the effort. These are the harnesses I will be using from now on.

I bought this harness for my 1 1/2 year old male collie, along with the halti training lead in large. he's a relentless puller - he pulls from the minute you leave the front door until you get back again to the point where I worry he is going to choke himself and I come back from every walk with burns on my hands from nylon and rope leads I used to use. he also has a phobia of bikes/motorbikes and rears up and tries to slip free of his collar whenever one goes past. this also frightened me because I was worried one day he would slip free and end up in the road. I don't have any worries now that I have this harness.it's a light weight design that doesn't restrict the dog's movement in the slightest; I even leave it on him when he goes running and plays fetch and he is not bothered by it at all. it also offers amazing control over the entire front of the dogs body thanks to the two rings to attach a double ended lead (I would definitely recommend using the halti training lead as it is superb quality, and I don't think the harness would be as effective if just a single clip lead was used). my dog hasn't completely stopped pulling - which can only be expected as he is still very young and full of energy - but this lead/harness combo has definitely reduced it and made me feel more in control. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I think it has something to do with how the two lead attachments spread the pressure across the entire front part of the body meaning the dog has less power to pull. if you have a dog that loves to pull but you still want to be kind to them and allow their body freedom, I would DEFINITELY recommend you give this harness a go.

I Like this! My rescued Golden pulling girl weighs about 60 lbs with a 29 inch chest. She is trim. Got this in the medium and put it on her today when it arrived--very easy to put on but I placed it on her rather loose. It is adjustable so I can put it tighter. It connects from her chest to her collar with a strap that goes in front of her shoulders to a ring, and there is a small snap on the ring that goes to her collar. The front of the chest is where I connected her regular leash, as this version of the harness did not come with the double sided clips. Where I clip the leash feeds through the ring that snaps to her collar, so if she pulls the least, the chest strap tightens as it is pulled through the ring. She ends up being pulled toward me.I have used the Halti head halter and that worked great but she hated it. She always ended up rubbing her face on the grass trying to get it off after about 20 minutes. Both the Halti Chest harness and the Head Halter work by controlling the front of the dog so when the pull they get pulled toward you. So when she pulled, I wasn't being yanked around. When she went faster, chased after a squirrel or just wanted to go faster, she ended up facing me or facing sideways. Much more of a pleasant walk. Will definitely use. She isn't bothered by the chest harness as she was by the head halter. But both are good for controlling the pulling and making the walk pleasant. Not 5 stars though---she doesn't walk at my side like in the photo. If she did then I would have given it 5 stars.

I have a very strong 5 yr old male chunky Labrador who although generally very well behaved - despite training classes did still pull often when on the lead. I had been using a lupi harness recommended by my vet which made him easier to control, but did little to stop him trying to pull me in whatever direction he had decided he wanted to go. I also tried the Halti head harness which worked to stop him pulling, but which my dog hated, and so took all the fun out of walks. Last year at a relatively young age I had to have a replacement hip, and although fully recovered now I had a big fear since of my dog pulling me over, so had stopped walking him on my own, which was a problem when my husband had to travel away from home over night. So I tried the halti harness - at first I bought size large having measured my dog as advised. This worked quite well but not perfectly as it was too big, so I then ordered a medium. This one was brilliant. Easy to fit . No sign of any discomfort to my dog and combined with the usual heel instruction and a few reinforcing treats, he was by the end of the first walk walking to heel by my side with a loose lead for the majority of the time . Occasionally he will still try to pull if he sees something particularly interesting but in conjunction with the halti double ended lead it is easy to control him and bring him back to heel. I am now confident to walk him on my own again, and walking him on the lead is now a pleasure not a battle!!. l would highly recommend this harness.

I purchased the Halti Harness and Halti training lead together as I was at my witts end. I have a 6 month old Border Collie who is pretty much well behaved BUT the usual collie trait chasing cars, bikes, buses, lorries etc.I already had a harness and 2 leads, one for her collar and one for her harness but still she pulled like a steam train and lunged at traffic..Dangerous for her, myself and any road users. Short of keeping her in the secure back garden I read the reviews for these items on here and thought I would give them a try. They arrived exactly when I was told they would Thank you Amazon, swift and very well packaged. WOW FANTASTIC...what a difference these have made to our walks..Not even at the end of the street and she knew she was staying at my side,no more pulling me, no more getting frustrated and having to stop every couple of minutes to gain control again. It was bliss, she walked beside me and continually looking up at me but not getting hyped up, however she still tried to lunge at traffic but the difference being I was actually in control as she could not actually stand on her hind legs with front paws in the air like a demented animal. One sharp tug and we were off again. The Halti harness and lead give you more control to keep moving and snap her out of it...Very well made and the lead has different lengths and easily adjusted, comfortable in your hand and a very nice peaceful walk..I would recommend these items well worth the money

this is an amazing piece of kit for the price.. i have a beagle and a terrier mix both able to slip a head collar with a tiny head jerk and both very different dogs to walk. Walks were a nightmare of rope leads (so they couldnt slip the collar) choking them as they dragged me often in different directions depending on scent for the beagle - and where the terrier wanted to get to (usually next dog home..).. so i was recommended these. I shopped about and chose these mainly due to price. They arrived next day and i immediately fitted them and took the girls out for a walk. My very first PLEASANT on-lead walk with dogs ive owned for close to 3 years. They instantly didnt pull..because pulling turned them away from their objective.. less than 2 mins out of the house.. when im usually at a run to try and prevent the excitement dragging of the first part of a walk.. and i was walking pleasantly - able to hold a conversation with a friend, AND almost forget i was walking the dogs. They really did instantly behave on the lead as i wanted them to.. walking along at my side. Fantastic.. rope leads are going in the bin.. after 3 years i guess choking them wasnt going to change anything anyway - i always thought they would eventually twig that no pull meant no choking - but nope! Highly recommend.

I am sure that ALL puppies pull at first and I’m also sure that each owner thinks their puppy is pulling extra hard, but if you’ve ever had a beagle you know that redirecting attention to something as simple as a sidewalk can be challenging when they are born to sniff and hunt.. love my Snoop but even his 25lbs of low to the ground pull is hard on me.. (sure call me a baby, but I look forward to the days of a loose leash walk!!) Haiti Harbess that really done the trick so far!! Snoop is smart and determined so when he picks up a scent there is not very much I can do to get his attention UNTIL NOW!We got the black and red harbess and it has the capability to be hooked in the front and back but when we go on our pack walks on Sunday mornings I clip his leash to the front so the more he pulls the more it physically turns him around and back to me. Our trainer recommended this harbess months ago and I blew it off because “he’s a puppy of course he’s goung to pull until he learns not to..” what I learned overtime was that snoop will pull and pull and pull and pull my arm off just to stay on a scent. I caved and got this harness and Snoop and I are both now enjoying our walks! Well, maybe I more than snoop since this really turns him around when he pulls and I see how annoyed he gets lol

I've got two rottweilers, a one year old and a 7 year old. The older one is perfect on the lead, no issues at all. But at 6 months old my younger one was snapped at by a Mally and became impossible to control on the lead, dragging me and my other dog to every dog and person, sometimes putting us in dangerous situations. I tried a made to measure harness, slightly better until she learned she could use it to aid her pulling. Halti head collar was a no go as she refused to get up and rubbed her face until it bled. Half check chain helped a bit. I ordered this in a medium due to other reviews and although she's a big 40kg pup there's plenty of room to grow. Just to give an idea of size,it fits my older girl who is 51kg around the belly but not the chest. I brought this with the training lead. I used the product this morning which I must say is a little ill fitting probably due to the rottweiler shape but we had a lovely walk. She can still but not hard. The correction is kind. She got it very quickly. Used with positive reinforcement such as high value treats and your command of choice I feel this product is worth the monday - baring in mind my puppy's problem was on the severe spectrum. Highly recommend this product for problem pullers, although sizing needs to be reviewed.

Bought to make dog walking a little more controlled. I do notice a difference between using this and using a collar or alternative harness. Would have liked it to be a little more padded. There is small padding on the sides, there is no padding on the adjustable area that goes around the chest.I need to have the harness around the body of the dog quite small. This leaves a long end piece hanging, which I may cut off as it comes untucked and trails along the ground during walks. The clip to open and close then sits on the chest area behind the front legs, which it makes it slightly harder to clip and unclip. The item is sometimes put on inside out and then taken off to correct. The clip to clip it to the collar, gives some reassurance that if the harness should fail, the dog would not be immediately loose. The product is fairly thin and does not look strong but seems to be holding up well and I find worth using, with the improvement in walking. More fiddly to use than a collar alone but walking is more controlled and is usually worth the few extra minutes to fit and remove the harness. If I find a similar product for my small dog that opens and closes on the dogs back and with more padding I will consider changing, until then this does the job.

I really thought long and hard on whether to buy a harness or not. The assistant at the vets said they were not that helpful for stronger dogs but were great for small dogs. My Shar Pei x Staffy is only 17 weeks old and already weighs 14.1 kg so is likely to be a big dog. It took her a while to get used to a collar and she tends to pull particularly if she spies another dog in the distance. I read all the reviews and thought it might be worth giving it a go. It arrived and I must say she hardly pulled at all - as soon as she felt the tug on her chest she stopped - I also thought she looked at me more as she was walking than she had done when she was just on an ordinary collar. The harness is a little big for her and it slips down a little low at the front so I might need to get a small size and use the medium one when she has grown a bit. I'm thinking the difference it has made might make it worthwhile to do that. The only negative is that I'm using an extendable lead and with the fastening being lower and at the front she seemed to get it tangled with her legs much easier than with the neck collar - this might improve when I get her the smaller size but I think it might just be a feature of having a lower attachment point.

Surely a harness will only enable a dog to pull harder? That was my feeling before trying this product. A 2 year old Sprollie that pulls like a steam train the problem. Yes the halti head collar worked but my dog HATED it and would run and hide rather than be eager to go for a walk. First catch your dog! Winter coming, dog still pulling, fear of being pulled over in slippery conditions prompted a desperate search for a solution.Reading reviews this seemed worth a try for the price even though, as previously stated, it went against my thoughts on what a harness was for (huskies wear harnesses to pull sledges right?) I still don't know why it works but be assured it does.It was easy to put on and she doesn't run away in fear of it. Yes, the lead may go tight but she can't get enough oomph to pull you off balance if she wants to go somewhere you hadn't planned on! Yes I did feel it looked somewhat flimsy (bought the small one judging by previous reviews) but it has stood up to the job so far. Have now bought the double ended lead to go with it. Now looking forward to taking her with us more often, even on holiday!

My 9 month old Rough Collie is large, exuberant and afraid of new sounds. This harness improved my ability to hang on to him immediately and he seems comfortable wearing it. He can still pull a certain amount and he can still drag but it is lessened and when he decides to suddenly leap off sideways, I have him under control at the front which stops him. The difference using this harness has made my walks so much happier and more secure. I was a little concerned about having my Halti lead arranged like reins, I thought it would be awkward, but it isn't. I can walk with the lead in one hand, using finger control, a bit like a carriage driver and then switch to both hands quickly when necessary.Best of all my "little" monsters new found trick, when he's over-excited or frightened, of running me round in a circle until I'm dizzy, tying my legs up with the lead as he goes, is now under control and so much more easily stopped before he has a chance to really get going. Also I can pull down on the front "rein" in order to immediately stop a jump up at people, which is great news for everyone.

The harness works well and provides good control for the dog, but I had to exchange the medium for a small as the suggesting size was not accurate. My beagle measured 24" around. The medium harness, even at its tightest, was far too loose. Once we got the small harness and sized it, it made it quite a bit easier to keep my beagle from lunging for all the chicken bones, vomit, dirty tissues, chips, and other rubbish that is always all over the streets. I did end up purchanes the double-ended lead as well and found I like use it. The company notes that the harness will loosen over time, and therefore after fitting you should put in a stitch to hold it in place. I find that a bit annoying, but tolerable. Also, some reviews have noted that if you do not attach the harness to the collar that the dog can slip out, and seemed to have given poor reviews because of this. As the instructions say to do this, and that is how the item is meant to be used, I don't really see that as a fault, and when used properly, I think my dog would have to do some serious gymnastics to get out.

My border collie is 18months old we had him since a pup and never really leash trained him as we trained him to be off lead he cracked that easy enough until we moved house and wasn't possible to go to the fields without walking couple streets away so needed to be on the lead.. He pulling was bad he's a big border collie so after 10mins of walking your arm starts to ache from constant pulling..I've recently been leash training him by using the method of stopping when he pulled and rewarding him when the leash was slack, that has worked but does take forever to get anywhere.. So thought il try this harness and I can honestly say it's worked he now can't pull as hard as he could and using the other method of training aswell he's beginning to understand pulling is not an option..I dare say in couple weeks I won't need this harness as it comes natural to him to walk by my side like he does off leash. Miracle saver for your arms you feel tho you actually got control over your dog not him controlling you.. Worth every penny wish I used this from when he was a pup..

Bought this together with Halti training lead for our two 22kg mixed breed 18-month old mutts. Choosing the right size is a little tricky. One dog is taller but leaner (closer to labrador height) and one shorter but more stocky (need to stoop a bit to scratch her head). The harness is adjustable, and on a Medium harness the smallest possible adjustment was just about right for our shorter pup, and there is plenty of room for dogs larger than our larger one. We've tried nose-based controllers, other harnesses, but this is the most effective to date for our two, who responded very quickly to the new regime. They are very much less inclined to pull now, walking a lot like well behaved dogs for the most part, and we feel more in control and less concerned that they will do themselves an injury when they do make more concerted attempts to get their own way. We bought this on recommendation from a friend with a 50kg+ dog, and we would certainly recommend giving this a go if you are having problems with your pup pulling.
