Ordered this product with Plus Digital USA and was very sceptical that it could possibly be a fake/copy (by no fault of the seller) but many people have said that they have purchased them thinking that they are genuine but have received fakes. The product was tracked every step of the way with DPD and even gave me a 1 hour delivery slot time so that I know when the product would arrive and it arrived bang on time! Fantastic service by DPD!!!I originally purchased a copy version (made by Polaroid) for 55 quid, but after receiving the product that was very similar but not of great quality - very plasticky - and realising that it did not work with my camera and also kept making the green info button flash,I quickly removed it from my camera and sent it back and went for the real thing. The real thing arrived and passed all of the tests that pass it as a genuine Nikon product. The real thing is clearly on another level to these after market grips. It is solidly made, weather sealed, functions correctly, attaches solidly and is just a beauty to use. It makes holding the camera so much easier and the added battery power is excellent (you do not need 2 batteries to run the thing. You can leave the original in the camera and have the grip empty or take the battery out of the camera, attach the grip and put the battery in the grip for ease of charging. But multiple batteries is the real reason we buy these things! But never the less, the grip is useable with only one battery.)It is built with quality materials and matched the camera body perfectly. The only small downside to the grip is the selector to navigate menus as it often goes left if you mean to press up and so on - only because it is quite small. Just be sure you clearly press the direction that you want.I would 100% recommend buying the original even though the price is high. I have used un-official grips before and had no problems on other cameras but due to the way it attached to the camera I would suggest going for the real thing!

I'd been thinking about getting this grip ever since I bought my camera (more than a year ago!) because I have large hands and I found the grip on the D7000 to be just a little bit too small to be truly comfortable - this was particularly noticeable if I carried the camera around in my hand and I never felt as if I had a truly good grip on it. When shooting I found that the stock grip wasn't big enough that I could get all my fingers placed comfortably and I always ended up with my little finger curled awkwardly under the camera body. A fairly minor annoyance to be sure, but I always felt that the MB-D11 would give me the extra space I needed .. at a not inconsiderable cost.Anyway,I finally bit the bullet and shelled out for this grip and a second EN-EL15 battery. The grip is, as you'd expect, up to the usual Nikon build standard with a magnesium alloy body and some weather sealing around the battery compartment door. The locking wheel benefits from a gearing system that allows you to easily exert enough force to fit the grip tightly to the camera body, but there's still a very, VERY small amount of play which is just noticeable when holding the camera in portrait orientation purely by the grip with a big lens (I have a heavy 70-300 on my camera most of the time), but the play is so small that it makes no practical difference to anything. And the good news is that it makes for a much more comfortable and robust grip on the camera. The whole rig feels quite a lot more comfortable as I can now space my fingers along the the side of the camera which helps relieve the effect of a big lens trying to constantly twist the front of the camera down. The extra battery capacity and portrait mode buttons are a nice bonus! In summary, this is a great way to make a D7000 handle a whole lot better, but it's not cheap.

I use the D7000 a lot and I wanted the battery grip mostly for having the correct command and shutter controls when quickly changing between landscape/portrait orientation - the extra battery life being a bonus. If you're buying a grip to look more 'pro' forget it - you're either a 'pro' or not and most professionals I know are adopting a ' less is more' attitude to lumping heavy equipment around if it's unnecessary, so for me, when it's not needed, off it comes.I did start by thinking that the cheaper third party alternatives would do the same job and I bought a Mieke version. It worked OK but never felt tight on the camera and, however tightly I attached it,it only just seemed to be connected well enough for the camera to recognise its existence. I then discovered the reason. The electrical connections on the Mieke are flimsy and, however careful you are in attaching it, the tiny connectors have a tendency to bend away from the strong pins of the camera. It would still work and the camera would recognise it if I gave it a light upward tap when it was on but I don't like shoddy quality and retired it in favour of a genuine one.Having bought the Nikon grip I now remember that you get what you pay for in quality terms. It's heavier, more solid and the connectors are as strong as those in the camera body so it connects properly every time. The controls are more positive and the battery carrier doesn't feel as if it's going to snap like the copy did.I realise money is tight for most of us these days but I feel copies of this grip may be a false economy and I'm happy that, having bought a tough camera, I now have the grip built to the same high standards.

Some twelve months ago I purchased the Neewer battery grip instead of the Nikon original because of the huge price difference. Whilst the Neewer is a great piece of kit and never let me down, I always had a longing to buy the original. I have a thing about copies!! When I saw the original on Amazon, at a significantly lower price than was being advertised elsewhere, I had to have it. Before buying I contacted the seller for reassurance that it was an original and when it arrived I checked it against the Nikon website "how to spot a counterfeit MB-D11" It passed with flying colours.I've been using it for the past five weeks during which time I have taken some 500 photographs.Whilst the functionality of the Neewer is identical to the Nikon, there are a number of areas where the original outperforms the copy. The shapes are almost identical but the Nikon material and components are clearly in a different class. The fit on the camera is much better and the locking wheel provides a much better anchor than the copy, which always rattled, in spite of it being fully tightened. The toggle switch is also much more positive in its operation and function. The big question is whether these points justify the significant premium you pay for the original versus the copies. I feel more comfortable owning the original and there are clearly points of difference (that's why I gave it 5 stars) but I'm not convinced that an enthusiastic amateur like me, will really benefit from the additional investment.

I purchased a second hand version of this battery grip as I was unsure how much I would use it. It is also the first battery grip I have purchased.I opted to buy the Nikon grip instead of a cheaper model as I had read some reviews of people having issues with other grips or where people had bought a cheaper grip initially and subsequently bought the Nikon grip. From my initial use (which has been limited) I am very pleased with it. Not only is it in near mint condition with no marks on it, but I find the additional stability and grip when using the camera is a great benefit, even more so than the additional battery power on offer. The build quality feels very substantial and it fits very securely to the D7000 body.Having both the option to use the standard Nikon batteries and AA batteries is also a positive, particularly if in a remote area without charging facilities. However, I see myself leaving the AA tray at home most of the time.Probably the only annoyance with the design is the requirement to remove the grip in order to charge the battery in the camera. However, given the amount of power the 2 batteries offer I suspect in the long run it won't cause me any real issues. The additional buttons on the grip which mirror those on the body all work very well and make for easier photography in portait mode.Very pleased with the grip and would definitely recommend.

I bought this to help with portrait shooting, and because the D7000 is a bit on the small side for my paws. Given the price at launch I was pretty horrified by the fact that the extra EN-EL15 battery is an optional extra but slightly mollified by the inclusion of the AA isert for 'free'- Nikon must be getting soft in its old age.Build quality is very good and the fit between camera and grip on mine is solid. The apparent looseness of the screw mount when tightened - noted by other reviewers - is likely down to the fact that the locking wheel actuates the locking thread via some sort of offset gearing which has a bit of play in it,so it rattles. In use the grip adds a useful bit of ballast when used with a longer lens and significantly improves the camera's fit in larger hands. I used to use an F4 and I miss the mass. For me the main advantage of the grip lies in this improvement of handling and the added weight rather than the additional power supply per se - a single battery is, after all, capable of sustaining around a thousand shots, enough for most of us I'd guess - so I'm inclined to the opinion that unless you really want the Nikon item and don't mind paying the hefty premium then one of the third party offerings is likely to satisfy most of the people most of the time.

I bought this grip for my D7000 because I have large hands and also need extra power for long exposures of astronomical objects in the night sky.It is interesting to compare with the grip on my Pentax K10. The MB D11 wins in that it has an interchangeable battery compartment enabling the user to switch to AA cells in the event that they drain all their Li ion battery packs. However, compared to the Pentax grip, this is bought at a price. The Pentax has compartments for a spare SD card and and a remote control (little things that are easy to lose); the MB D11 has no room for these with the AAs in.The large knurled knob that screws the MD D11 grip to the D7000 has some play in it when fully tightened.Cannot think why this should be but it makes the grip seem poorly finished. Apparently most/all MB D11s do this and it doesn't cause the grip to be loose so there's nothing to worry about. It has been suggested that this indicates my grip to be a fake but it is not (see comments below).Since buying the MB D11 I discover that there are 3rd party clone grips out there at a fraction of the price. Whether they are any good I do not know.

I named this necessary evil because firstly it makes such a difference to the D7000 handling and ballence. It is made of the same material and so weather resistant. It contours the camera perfectly and turns the d7000 into a bigger monster. I would have to say that canon have done a better job because both batteries fit into their grip and it can be left on the camera. This Nikon takes one battery whilst the other remains inside the camera. That means at some stage its going to have to be removed to change batteries. The D7000 battery life is ridiculously long by the way!The controls work well and even though this gadget is very highly priced you are getting a genuine Nikon power grip. There are grips available by other cheap manufactorers and I have one for my Nikon D3100 however it eats battery life as it appears to be permanantly on. All in all the genuine Nikon grip looks well and complements the wonderful D7000 perfectly. I would recommend this grip especially if you have a 200mm lens or above as the handling on mine increased dramatically. Get one but it's costly for what it is.

Although very expensive for what is essentially a single battery pack grip, it makes a huge difference. My D7000 is now a whole lot easier to hold both horizontally and vertically of course to take portrait shots. My hand used to ache when holding the D7000 for a while as I find the camera quite small and too compact, but using this now removes that fatigue and makes it so much more enjoyable to use.It also adds weight and makes the camera more sturdy feeling when mounted on a tripod. But, it's overpriced and the battery rattles around a tiny bit, though I'm not as bothered by the noise as others might be.It could do with being a bit more secure feeling as there is a tiny amount of play, and also should be able to hold 2 batteries as opposed to just one.I'd but it anyway just to make the camera sturdier, it'll change the way you use the camera completely. I never take mine off if I can't help it (only when taking out the cameras battery).

If you're lucky enough to own the Nikon D7000, you already know that it's a seriously good camera which packs an awful lot of features into a small body. That's great, but if like me you've got shovels for hands then you could be doing with something a little bulkier and that's where this grip really scores for me. It turns the D7000 into a well balanced and much more manageable camera and the shutter release allows much easier switching between landscape and portrait shooting, which I do a lot of in sports action photography. The extra battery life is obviously a bonus, and probably boosts speed by an extra frame/second. Overall there's a lot to like about this grip,it fits well and because it is made from the same material as the camera body, it complements it perfectly and is weatherproof. The only downside might be the price, if you're prepared to compromise, there are cheaper copies, but the original Nikon kit is worth it.

The MB-D11 battery pack utterly transforms the handling of the D7000 which is good anyway but with this attached things take on a vastly more user friendly and professional feel . The stock being sold here is THE GENUINE article so dont let the worry of receiving a fake put you off ordering . Yes its expensive compared to the aftermarket brands but isnt your expensive Dslr worth the outlay for genuine accessories ? of course it is as thats why you bought a Nikon camera in the first place , as you want quality and with this grip thats exactly what your getting ! The ultimate grip for your D7000 without question .

This turns the Nikon D7000 into a well-balanced and professional-looking machine. It accepts one battery in it (note: this has to be an original Nikon battery as it does not like third-party efforts). As you flip the camera sideways, you can now hold the camera more easily without having your arm bent double as there is another shutter button and a controller joystick on it. I have given it only four stars as Nikon have gone way over the top with the pricing, particularly when there are third-party grips much cheaper.

4.1.2013

After looking at alternatives, I bought the MB-D11 for my Nikon D7000 as I considered the build quality to be much the best. As usual for Nikon, the cost is high but you do get what you pay for. So far, the grip has fulfilled all my expectations. It is well made, feels good in the hand, balances the camera nicely and fits firmly. Battery options give good flexibility - the ability to use AA's if no spare/charged EN-15 is available is very useful. An excellent, if expensive, accessory.

I could have bought a third party copy of this but I have heard of the draining batteries and malfuctioning. I also hear that they work well. I dont want the risk of something going wrong, miss an important shot/shots. Plus, its always a risk to your valueable camera.Shop around, I paid £155 for it against a typical price of £229. Paying £40 for a copy sounds good, but not for me. Choose wisely :o)
