There are two main reasons for getting the MB-N10. The first is that the Z6 / Z7 body is quite short, and a two or three finger and thumb grip for the right hand. With the lighter Z mount lenses this isn't much of a hardship, however with the FTZ adaptor and something like a Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 on the front, a two finger grip is becoming a bit uncomfortable and the longer grip of the MB-N10 solves the problem. The second reason is Nikon's choice of the EN-EL15 battery size which (again when using the FTZ) is on the small side. Doubling the capacity makes it a reasonable setup to shoot most of a day without a swap-out.The bonus 'nice to have'features are the inclusion of a USB-C charging port and battery status lights.I was reluctant to shell out the £180-£200 for the MB-N10 bearing in mind that similar grips for other Nikon cameras are substantially cheaper and have features that the MB-N10 lacks, such a portrait orientation shutter release. I was pleasantly surprised at the sturdy build quality. It feels very much like part of the camera when fitted, and the metal construction gives a sense of solidity. The price of that strength is weight, it adds substantially to the heft of the camera. One setup niggle I have is the instructions on removing the battery door. The ideograph on the instruction sheet really doesn't adequately explain the process and I spent an awkward few minutes before working out the puzzle.Positives - Grip comfort / on-camera charging / battery life / sturdy constructionNegatives - Price / no portrait shutter release / weightIn conclusion, I don't regret my purchase but I did feel slightly gouged at that price.

A great of noise was made about this grip, because it didn't follow Nikons conventional line up, in that additional controls or features are provided. This is purely a battery grip with built in charger, with battery hot swapping. For me it was about feeling comfortable with the camera in my hand, and the grip was needed for that. It is very well made, and Nikon clearly takes weather proofing seriously. It can take 2 EL15b or equal. batteries, which can be charged via the USB C port on the rear (note only the 15b can be charged in the grip) A battery check light and that's it. So yes an expensive grip by comparison, but it is well made and fits the camera perfectly. But it is a real shame Nikon missed a vertical shutter release, but I have a feeling this is about product line up for future models.

The batter pack fits nice and tight on the camera , so there is no chance of it coming off. Unlike cheap copies I’ve had on other Nikon cameras . There is no shutter button for taking photos vertically like on other Nikon cameras . And you don’t get a batter charger with the holder or a battery , which for the price you should . You can change both batteries with out having to remove it from the camera unlike older styles on other Nikon cameras. I think the battery holder is well made and a good addition to your z6/7 but a little over priced like all Nikon accessories.

This works as advertised, allows fitting of two batteries to the Z6. There are no controls for portrait orientation - its a battery pack not a grip. Its expensive for what it is. Charging the batteries via USB C works and is convienient.

This battery pack does make the camera feel more secure in the hand. It's main feature is that as it holds 2 batteries you can replace one while filming with no stopping or gaps.

Good for additional grip and battery capacity
