We have owned several different kinds of travel mugs. While the capacity of this mug is about mid-range, the performance is top notch. We definitely recommend this travel mug. This travel mug seems to be double walled stainless steel, with a ceramic coating to minimize any metallic leaching into the stored beverage. We have put ice into this mug in the morning and had ice remaining at the end of the work day. Filtered water tastes as good at the end of the day as at the beginning (with or without refilling the mug). The lid unscrews for removal and the revealed opening is about the same width as the interior of the mug, which means adding ice and beverage, such as filter water from a refrigerator, coffee from a coffee pot, or any beverage from a pitcher, is about as easy as adding ice and beverage to a glass or a coffee cup.The lid is the most remarkable part of this mug. A push button pops the lid up for drinking. It seemed like the lid would hit my face, but the design keeps the lid out of the way while drinking. The lid pushes down easily and snaps into place to prevent leaks. Here comes the best part of all. The lid includes a lock to nearly eliminate the chance of accidentally opening the lid. While I still do not put this travel mug into my brief case next to my laptop, I do carry it next to valuable papers, pens, etc.We did notice that after taking this mug in my briefcase to work over several days that the exterior finish has a chip and some minor scratching. Apparently the exterior is not ceramic, which should be much more durable. However, this minor issue is insufficient to affect the rating for this mug. We just need to do a better job of positioning the travel mug to avoid chips and scratches. The size of this travel mug is perfect for a briefcase. Its performance is excellent, keeping beverage cold (or hot) for hours. The snapping lid and its lock mean a very reduced risk of leaking, even when carried in a backpack or briefcase. While the cost is relatively high compared to some other travel mugs, this mug should provide many years of outstanding performance. Five stars for a nearly perfect travel mug.Enjoy!

Kyocera is a well known Japanese brand for producing hi-tech products. When I saw that they produced a double walled, insulated bottle with ceramic lined interior I thought I try it.First of all, what I like is that it’s not too heavy. I’ve held some other stainless water bottles before and many of them weighed much more with the same volume. Granted, it’s not as light as the titanium ones but those sell for multiples of the price. Also, the bottle keeps the liquid cool/hot as expected and the lined interior doesn’t seem to impart any flavor, but then again, neither does the regular stainless interior bottles. I’m not sure if that’s just a marketing gimmick? The quality of materials, fit and finish all seems very high quality. Here’s where it falls short. The top is not smooth towards the end of the turn when you’re screwing it on due to the rubber seal. That means you have to take some care in screwing on the top so that the threads are aligned. Also, the lip of the lid seems to be too close to latch mechanism so that you have to drink with your lips high up on the lip of the lid. I think others have mentioned this as well. They should have moved the latch lower. Finally, the lid locking mechanism is very secure, almost too secure. You have to press hard for the lock to activate. This is either a plus if you like no chance of leaks but a negative if you frequently want a sip and would rather have something easier to open.

There is much to like about this travel mug, but one major problem (major for me anyway).First, the good:* The insulation is great. Expect your hot or cold beverages to stay at the desired temperature all days long.* The feel is great. The matte-finished black exterior, the diameter of the mug, and the ribbed shape along the top make this a comfortable mug to carry and use. Operation feels good too. It can easily be opened and closed with one hand.* The capacity is great. I have another travel mug I have been using. Despite this mug from Kyocera having a smaller exterior, the capacity is actually an ounce more than my larger mug. Now, the bad...and for me,this is a deal breaker:* I find it extremely challenging to drink directly from this mug, especially while driving, for two reasons: first, the lid pops up and obscures my vision if I try to take a sip while driving. Second, the size of the hole and the shape of the "spout" make it a real challenge to drink from. More than once, I accidentally sloshed hot coffee all the way to the back of my throat because I had trouble taking a sip. I won't ever use this again while driving. If your intent is to pour the beverage into a separate mug to drink, then you will be happy with this. Or, if you don't plan to drink a hot beverage while driving, then perhaps this will be fine. But I feel it is a little risky to drink coffee from this while driving.

I generally hold Kyocera products in high regard, which is why I ordered this travel mug. (My ancient Kyocera CD player still works like a champ.)This is a very attractive travel mug that avoids many of the pitfalls of others--its ceramic interior means no bad chemicals; it keeps beverages hot or cold, as advertised (I've used it for both); it won't spill when the lid is closed; and ergonomically it works well...except for the lid, latch and spout. As another reviewer noted, those aspects are poorly designed for driving. But beyond that, just using the mug around the house to keep my coffee hot, I found the shape and position of the spout to be really awkward. The red latch for the lid rests on my lower lip when I drink from it, and the shape and size of the opening are...strange. While my lower lip can't avoid resting on the latch, my nose rests on the hinge of the lid. It doesn't make for comfortable drinking. And because the spout faces the front, it's hard to avoid the lid and the latch by drinking from the side. The shape doesn't easily lend itself to that, as a more symmetrical design would. The grip on the outside is good, though, and there's a lock on the lid, which is good or bad, depending on whether you need it locked down, not just latched.Whether it's worth ~$30 to you is a matter of personal preference.

This is really a good travel mug. It keeps beverages hot longer than any other travel mug I have owned. Being a tea snob, a ceramic interior is a must. All you taste is the beverage and nothing else! I agree the lid is a little clunky, but it has the advantage that you can open and close the mug with one hand.I have tried the Contigo Ceramic lined mug, the Ello Ogden and this one. Here is the order I would rank them:1) This mug2) Contigo Ceramic lined mug. This is a close second as it has the advantages of lower cost and a sleeker lid design. The lid has the disadvantage that it take two hands to operate. But ultimately beverages do not stay warm as long.3) Ello Ogden.Don't expect beverages to stay warm long with this mug. Plus it it easily broken.Update:After 6 months with the travel mug, the latching mechanism for the lid broke. It broke on its own accord without abuse or drop. Kyocera does sell the lid by itself but with shipping the cost of the lid is almost the cost of a new mug! I submitted a query on a warranty replacement, but after more than a week, no one from Kyocera has gotten back to me. For these reasons I am reducing my rating.

I’m a big tea lover and following a few stints with metal lined flasks the slightly tainted taste to my posh loose leaf really wasn’t... well, my cup of tea.I researched ceramic lined options with a good travel lid pretty hard and options are pretty limited here in the UK, so looked further afield and found this one. I was almost put off by the reviews stating the lid was terrible and I’m glad I wasn’t, sure it isn’t perfect but far from 1 star! This is a fantastic flask and has served me well in the few months of owning it so far, both in the car and my backpack while hiking/splitboarding. Tea has still been hot 4-5hrs after the brew, the ceramic lining does it’s job well regarding taste and the flask itself has held up well to bring thrown about (couple of scratches as expected).Cleaning to the bottom might involve a sponge pushed in with a spoon, but that’s no hardship. The lid cleans well and the spring seems robust enough.Highly recommended and worth the import tax if you’re outside the USA, I’m still yet to find something here in Europe of equivalent quality.

First, this is the best looking travel mug I've owned... the smooth matte black finish is beautiful. The cap functions perfectly... locks tightly and pops open with little effort, but without worry of accidentally opening it. Doesn't spill a drop. The design of this mug is perfect. The 'taste' issue that this travel mug claims to resolve by having a ceramic coated interior, is indeed gone. My wife, who is very particular about travel mugs and how they affect her water, gives this mug a big thumbs up.As for it's most important function... keeping drinks hot or cold... it's a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. It works well, but I have other travel mugs, particularly a Thermos travel mug, that works a bit better. After a couple of hours, the liquids in this mug go from steaming hot to hot, while my Thermos keeps the considerably hotter. That said, this is no doubt a fantastic mug, and probably my favorite so far. It works to keep things hot/cold as well as I need it to, the cap works flawlessly, and the overall design in great. Highly recommended.

This tiny-looking travel mug is a jewel of a product. How they manage to keep 12 oz/350 ml of hot beverage hot in this tiny thing is beyond me - but it works every time. The inside is lined with a ceramic coating, keeping any possible metallic taste away from the coffee (a must for this family of coffee snobs). The spout mechanism is dead simple, and just as simple to clean. (The Contigo Twistseal Glaze, a similar product, is also excellent but its spout mechanism is needlessly complicated.) The lid is good at preventing leaking, especially with its simple lock mechanism. The only real downside is that it keeps beverages TOO hot.You really do have to let your coffee or tea cool down for a few minutes in the mug before putting the lid on.Overall this is probably the best insulated travel mug I've ever come across. There's also a 17 oz version, too. Go for it! This one you will not regret.

Hands down the best travel mug I have ever owned. I drive about 50K miles a year between my work vehicle and my personal vehicle, so I believe I have a good idea of some of the creature comforts required with a travel mug. I can fill this mug up at 8AM and still have hot coffee at 6PM! I am drinking less coffee, because you sip on this slower, since the beverage is hot. The ceramic lining makes this a breeze to clean and the beverage tastes better as well. The lock on the lid is handy if you have ever experienced a flying travel mug. At first I was a bit skeptical of the lid, since the lid lock apparatus is in front of it. This is a non issue since the drink lip is placed in a good position. My Grandaughter is three, and we have filled this mug with cold juice and it keeps the juice cold. She is three and loves the mug.

First of all I like the that that it fits in my BMW cup holder. Of course, I'm taking for granted that it is a ceramic costed mug. I also like the fact that it has a lock for the lid. I'm having a hard time with flavor. I have tried several mugs, and not one can meet the flavor quality of an open ceramic, or glass cup for that matter. I am nowb drinking my coffee at home in a double insulated glass mug, and use this mug when I have to leave the house and haven't had my coffee. So far it stays closed, and keeps the coffee warm. Lukewarm after 8 hours. I question the reliability of the lid lock. It is hard to close without pushing in the open/close release button. I have had others fail precisely at the release button, which makes an otherwise perfect mug unusable. We'll see.

This is a very well-designed travel mug, that looks as good as the pictures and performs as the descriptions suggest it should. It keeps ice water very cold for a long time, and keeps hot coffee very hot for many hours as well.Ignore the review pertaining to the horrible lid design. All you do with this mug is rotate it 30° in your hand and it's completely comfortable and natural to drink out of.Personally, I'd prefer a 100% ceramic cylindrical lining instead of a coating...but Kyocera did a great job on this one. Don't hesitate to buy this travel mug if you want your drinks to stay at their original temperature for hours, and don't want any funny tastes from your mug getting in the way of your drink's taste.

Yall. This mug is it. I've gone through so many coffee/tea mugs. Contigo, Swell, Ello, Thermos, Bodum etc. I've tried different models and different sizes. But they never worked. This is the first mug that does not spill AT ALL. It doesn't open accidentally in your bag. It doesn't take on that weird taste that you can't wash out. The ceramic inside makes my tea taste like tea and coffee like coffee. So far it's been amazing. The only draw back I can imagine down the line is that the lid is a bit complex so it may be come mucky in its nooks if you're not soaking it regularly. But beyond that this mug is it for me. Ill probably only replace it if they start offering a bigger size.

I wanted to make iced tea for the next day. I prepared the tea and let it cool down to room temperature. I then put it in this mug and put it in the fridge overnight. That is a full 9 hours. The tea was exactly the same temperature as when I put it in the fridge.I put iced water into this mug (at 7 am) and went to the beach on a very very very hot day. The mug was on direct contact with the sun's rays and heat. Any other mug would have hot hot water. I opened this around 1 PM and the ice was still just as it was that morning.I write those 2 examples to show how amazing this mug is. I am going to be gifting this to people. It works better than advertised!

The 17 oz. size is pretty small for a water bottle, but perfect for a travel coffee container. It has a lock on the lid. (When you can see the red bit under "push", it is locked.) It is really lightweight. The double wall keeps the outside from getting too hot or too cold to hold and decreases condensation, as well. The lid is plastic and it has a rubber-like seal to keep it vacuum packed for long lasting temperature control. If it matters to you, this cup is made in China. You can not put this in the microwave or the freezer. It does not say you CAN'T put it in the dishwasher, but it does say to clean by hand.

I love this thermos. It is dureable (Unlike the double walled glass ones I've tried and broken many times now), is great for tea (with that ceramic lining), and it keeps my beverages hot very well. I kept scalding myself at first before I learned to put my tea into it at the temperature that I wanted to drink, because it insulated so well that it would take hours to cool off otherwise. I like to fill it up at night before going to bed now, and then I can be lazy in the morning and have my hot tea ready to drink when I get up.
