I’ve never used one of these and was unsure about it but it’s easy I I don’t feel unsafe about it in any way since it comes with a nice hand guard that grips the food and keeps your fingers well out of the way. It’s well made and the blade is very sharp. Even foods that are typically tedious to slice like potatoes and carrots are sliced quickly and easily. I like that it’s a simple item. I have a slicing disk for my food processor that does more or less the same thing but I rarely use it because I don’t want to get out a big appliance then wash all those parts. This is almost as quick and not really any more work when cleanup is taken into account.

Wanted something that would not take up a lot of room in a drawer as we seldom use these but it makes the job so much easier when working with a dehydrator. When I opened it, I was skeptical the description said dial on back to adjust the thickness, It was just a pillar that ran horizontally along the back that when rotated it would change to a different side that was closer or further from its center point. but it has worked and the blade is stable and continues to cut evenly and cleanly. The few parts with this mandolin make it easy to clean and store. Would reccomend.

This is light, made of plastic with a plastic grip. Change the width of slice by turning the "lever" on the bottom. It is a piece of plastic the width of the mandoline with numbers 1 through 4, 4 being the thickest slice. Need to put a container under the mandoline to catch the slices. I have used it on squash and onions so far. Didn't do so good on tomatoes. Potatoes were iffy. It does come in real handy for those quick times you want or need to slice something and don't want to get out the bigger machine or use a knife. Interesting kitchen gadget.

This inexpensive mandolin is a great gateway (starter) mandolin if you’ve never had one before. Most of them are pretty expensive. This one has a very sharp ceramic blade so be very careful using it and definitely use the guard that comes with it. Most of it is plastic, but it doesn’t feel too much like cheap plastic. It does work really well, and you can control the thickness of what you’re slicing with four thicknesses (knob on bottom of mandolin; again be careful). Highly recommend!

This Mandoline Slicer is super easy to use, and sharp very very sharp. Its made of plastic and lightweight, It has a block on the back that you turn to get the desired width, it has 4 settings. I have found that the one and two are almost too thin like see-through thin. You don't have to put to much pressure to cut it just glides right over the blade. It comes in handy for making a salad. Clean up is a breeze I just put it in the top rack of my dishwasher.

I love the Kyocera mandoline slicer. It is the best one I have ever used. It's lightweight and easy to clean. I just place it in the dishwasher and dont have to worry about handwashing. I love that it's easy to adjust the slice sizes. This is very sharp but the hand guard makes me feel safe when using this. I used this to prepare zucchini chips and they zucchini slices came out perfectly. Highly recommend this handy and easy to use mandoline!

Glad I read the reviews first. Just looking at the pic, I thought it was a large mandolin, but it's actually just the right size for most slicing jobs. Has a great, solid feel to it. The thickness selector's numbers are a bit hard to understand at first, so I just sliced the same potato after selecting the different settings, so I'd know which one was for thick and which one for thin. Dishwasher safe and stows away easily.

This is super sharp so be very careful when using. It comes with a handguard. The slicing thickness is very easy to change. Underneath is a rectangle that you turn (numbered 1,2,3,4). It raises/lowers the blade so you don’t have to switch out a blade to change thickness. This is dishwasher safe – I put it on the top rack because it is a plastic frame. But I usually just carefully wash it by hand.

What an addition to my kitchen gadgets. This will come in handy when slicing potatoes and more importantly, onions, and any manner of other vegetables. The blade seems to be made of stainless steel and extremely sharp. It came with a slicing guard to more carefully slice your vegetables.

A little flimsy (plastic flexes a lot) but decent for the price. Does the job. One star off for not supplying a protective cover—these things are sharp. I have to store it in the packaging it came in, which ain’t elegant.

This slicer is easy to use and convenient to store. I'm pleased with these features. However, the plastic guard broke during the first use. This is a great drawback. Working with the broken guard is much more difficult.

I was struggling to cut onions thin. I decided to try this utensil based on a rating I read on epicurious. It works fantastic, especially for something that is not grossly expensive.

Very sharp ceramic edges does the job at least for cucumbers but it took too much time on a semi firm tomato. :-(

Extremely sharp, be very careful not to slice your skin. It slices veggies like cutting through butter.

Loved it but be very careful. Sliced a little tip off my thumb. Use supplied holder or special gloves.
