Bought this as I was bored of spending ages zesting citrus fruit for lemon/lime cakes amongst other things. Saw th eMicroplane recommended in one of Ottolenghi's cookbooks and thought I'd give it a go. Makes zesting fast and efficient a higher quality of zest. comes with a handy cover to protect the sharp side when you're not using it and this conveniently flips to the other size when zesting to catch all the zest if you want it to. Loses a star as the plastic cover turns white if you put it in the dishwasher. Be careful with your pinkies and it's REALLY sharp. Zest with care

This has been a really good buy. The old tall pyramid-style grater was no longer suitable (and clogged fairly easily) so we invested in this. The first thing to say is that it's not a small hand-held device - the total length is about 32cm; the gently curved grating area is about 18cm long and 3.5cm wide. The build quality and efficiency are both evident the minute you start to use it. The grating/zesting is effortless and the clogging is minimal. The removable sliding back panel makes it easy to clean. Buy with confience.

Very nice. Lemon zest is far better with this, and my lemon ice-cream is now fantastic... Works very nice with garlic either, but you have to be careful with your fingers. You wont cut them if you just go slowly at the end.very pratical as well, the lid works as container, and this is an improvement over the premium ones

Fantastic grater - a step up from the standard model in finish and functionality - the cover/food catcher is fantastic especially for Parmesan/general cheese grating

I regret not buying this sooner. It’s sharper than sharp (oops my knuckle), and shreds the zest like an orange like I’ve never seen. Marvellous item.

I have never had a bad Microplane product. Particularly like the safety sleeve which doubles as a collector.

Parmesan, lemon, nutmeg, just perfect. Measurements are useful eg. when grating citrus. Mess free!

Other microplane graders take thinner zest. But it is still great and an excellent tool

The old model cracked up. This is a much better design and should last for years.
