My cats could smell this from within the intact packaging - one came and sat on the bag once it was unpacked. And, the minute I opened the food, they came running. I am glad to say that this is not one of the more pungent foods which turn the human stomach, and yet clearly there's something in it that's attractive to our 3 cats.It is very greasy - I dished up some of this by hand, and had to wash immediately. And, the cats were washing their mouths and doing much licking of their chops, so it's clearly tasty. All 3 have eaten and toddled off to sleep - it's a cat's life, lol!For a food described as Salmon and Rice, I would have expected salmon to be the main ingredient, based on how human foods are labelled in the UK. But, this has 18% chicken derivatives (meat and other body parts that have been mechanically harvested), 18% rice and only 5% salmon, but with an explanation that the salmon is fish and fish derivatives. I was reassured by the fact that the meat and fish items are derived from animals that are fit for human consumption, but there's not enough for me to class this as a high quality food. The food is on a par with supermarket-own brands, and budget brands like Go Kat and KiteKat, but it's not as good as Iams, which is the staple in our cats' shared bowl. They have sachets 2-3 times a day, and have a communal bowl that gets topped up and they eat freely, and all have attacked this. I think this is down to the fact that I buy 3kg bags of Iams and open one at a time, and eating the same thing day in, day out can be tiring, so they jumped at the change in variety. Because this bag is very solid and has a good zipper, I don't need to decant it, and I will be alternating bowl refills until this is gone. The most important thing for me is that this is one of the few dried foods that hasn't caused an adverse reaction in our cats. The last one we tried, Amazon's own brand, Solimo, had horrendous effects and we had to cease feeding it to the cats. I was wary of trying this, but the cats seem to love it and so far so good.I am not sure I would buy it at this price, as it is around the same price as Iams, which I tend to buy on offer. I don't think it's worth it at this price, given the inferior nutritional value compared to Iams, but I would consider it from time to time if it were about 2/3 of the current price, if only to give the cats a bit of variety in taste. And, the biscuits are a good enough size and not too hard, so that even our cat who's had recent dental surgery for his old, damaged teeth (he's a stray we've adopted) hasn't found this hard to eat.

Let me be clear: in our house, the two cats rule the roost. With regard to cat biscuits, they have their staple senior Royal Canin or Iams on hand twenty four hours a day at their main feeding station in the kitchen, but they also have a big bowl of biscuits, usually another variety of regular or senior food, in the bedroom for midnight snacking. Sadly, we regularly change the bedroom biscuits to give them a bit of variety. So, when we had the opportunity to try these new Amazon biscuits, we filled the bedroom bowl with them. The Amazon biscuits are a complete food and the amount recommended for the daily meal of an average cat is in line with other producers. Now,the content of the biscuits is a bit more cluttered than what’s in their usual Iams, as well as their occasional Canagan brand. The meat content is considerably less than Iams and, whilst they don’t contain the horrible “various sugars” found in Felix or Whiskas wet fare, they do have poultry fat and other additives. Like the Royal Canin, they are bulked up with maize and other vegetable derivatives. I’m sure this vegetable matter isn’t detrimental, but I do prefer the less grain more meat approach of Iams and other brands...cats are carnivores after all. The ingredients may make me have a few reservations about this hard food, however, the biscuit monsters who are in charge of what they will and won’t eat really liked this new food. Now, they often love something new for the first and second meal, and then turn their backs on it decidedly after a third or fourth attempt to persuade them to eat it again. They have been given a bowl of these with their Royal Canin and Iams for the last week and they have continued to eat and enjoy the biscuits every day.For the cats’ servants, these biscuits are a little less smelly than the others, but that is probably due to the lower meat content. I’m happy to feed my biscuit monsters this new food, but would probably continue to give them a food with a much higher meat content and less grain as their main biscuit.

Yo, catfans – this is the second big bag our “owners” have given us to review. Like the previous one, this is from some country called “Amazon”, but with us it’s the taste and texture that matter. There are four of us, two aged 12 and two aged 10. We have a sachet each of wet food every morning, and a communal bowl of dry food left down during the day. This one smells good, and we’re all wolfing it down eagerly (even the fussy one of us). It smells OK (our “owners” said so too, though who cares what they think, so long as they deliver the goods) and the shape is unusual – little oval pellets. As we’re getting on a bit, our teeth aren’t what they were,so small pieces like this are kind to our teeth.Even for four of us this huge bag will last an awfully long time (we gather it’s re-sealable) – our “owners” have the decency to give us alternate flavours each week, so if this one’s doled out on the same basis we’ll still be eating it in four months’ time. Could be worse, I suppose. Our “owners” have right of reply, so here goes:The other variety mentioned by our mogs was Amazon Solimo. In some ways this new variety is better: chicken and rice is a good blend, there are all sorts of additives such as glucosamine & chondroitin, which are good for older cats, and the claim of “no added Soya, Wheat, Barley or Dairy” is reassuring if your cats have, or may have, any allergies. The cost has just gone down below £20, so it’s pretty good value. It will last a long time (and take up storage space) even if, like us, you have several cats. There’s no option to try this out on your cats with a smaller pack, as Amazon don’t offer one at present.

This bag of cat food made me smile on arrival, as the cat model on the bag doesn't look very impressed. However, our cats have been much more approving of the product. Our cats have two dry foods available most of the time, and then sachets of wet for meal times. Since using this, it has been going down at a faster rate than the alternate dry (currently IAMS). Whether this is the fact it is new is yet to be seen, but we have been using it for over a month now so it seems to be a more of a long term competition. Because of this I'd be happy to keep investing in the larger bag size. Unfortunately the price has gone up fairly significantly since it first went on sale, but it is still competitive with others we buy.For two cats who generally prefer fish flavours, it has been a lovely surprise that they are so into the chicken flavoured dry food. We've had no upset stomachs recently or anything to suggest the food isn't nutritious and doing what it needs to- our boys have had lots of energy. Really the only way to review cat food is by their reaction- so it is a thumbs up from us.As a side note, I was very hasty on the food's arrival and cut open the top of the bag. There is actually a zip lock on the back which can be opened to be able to dispense food and keep the bag airtight. Whilst the food seems fine from opening at the top (the food has a slight greasy feel, rather than completely dry, which has been maintained), for others who has bought the larger bag like me, it is useful to note this handy feature.

This is the food for my cat!I got quite worried about him about 12 months ago as although being only middle aged, he was painfully thin despite a plentiful supply of dry cat food. I made sure he was wormed and started fattening him up a bit with best pouch food for as long as he would tolerate it. Sadly, although he enjoys the occasional pouch of wet food he much prefers dry food and after a few months I was struggling to feed him with pouches. So the bag of this food has proved a great hit and after eating it for more than a couple of months over the summer and into autumn, I can actually call him heavy! He's never going to be a fat cat because he's a very active boy and a dirty great stop-out at night, but he's never looked better. Great coat, nicely muscular, and looking like he belongs to someone rather than a tramp cat!The biscuits are oval shaped and a little oily, leaving an oily feeling on my hands when I throw a handful in his bowl. They're also pretty strong smelling (very meaty). He absolutely adores the flavour and I've never had to look at a half eaten bowl of them! Coupled with the odd pouch of wet cat food he's very happy with his diet.I am really impressed with this cat feed, it's got high quality as a priority. Although it seems slightly expensive, a big bag lasts very well and works out more economically than you might think, given that so far its taken more than two months for my cat to munch his way through it and the bag isn't empty yet!

I have been feeding my cats Lifelong for several weeks, although this 3kg size seems to be a new addition to the range. Ingredients are excellent, and although the price is more than basic supermarket brands, it is a lot cheaper than well known market leaders.I have 5 cats, and they have all come to love this Lifelong dried food. The pieces are round, and about the size coffee bean. They will be easily managed by most cats, although elderly cats, and those with dental problems, might not find it as easy to chew. The reason I am giving this 5 stars is because my cats all prefer this Lifelong to any of the other dried foods I have tried, and any of the wet foods I give them as a treat. In fact, put a bowl of premium wet food down beside a bowl of Lifelong, and they all turn their noses up at the wet food, and crowd around the Lifelong bowl. This is good news for me as an owner, because I can cut down significatnly on expensive wet food, because they will quite happily eat this all day long. So, it may be a little more expensive than my usual dried cat foods, but the additional cost is more than made up for by the savings on wet food. Now that Amazon have started selling Lifelong in smaller 3kg bags it is well worth seeing if your cat(s) loves it as much as mine. If it/they do, then going for a 10kg bag makes sense as it is bound to be more economical.Highly recommended, and I look forward to seeing new flavours introduced to add a bit of variety.

Frank the Cat knows what he likes. Not bothered by organic healthy foods, he is happy on a mixture of Felix wet food and Perfect Fit dry food but I decided to try a broaden his palette anyway. As the delivery driver struggled with the box it was supplied in was reminded that 10KG is a large sack of cat food but will also last a long time and is competitively priced compared with similar products. While the bag is large and difficult to handle there is a small hole in the front which you open seal so that you can get dispense some into a smaller container which is a nice feature. This one has Chicken and Rice but there is also an alternative with Salmon and Rice for extra variety although I am not sure it is necessary with dry food.It has no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives includes Glucosamine & Chondroitin for joint support; Added Taurine for healthy eyes and heart and Biotin, Zinc and Linseed - A natural source for Omega 3 to support healthy Skin and CoatBut none of this would matter if Frank turned his nose up at it but this was not the case. While it will not replace his routine of wet food it was happily picked at between meal times and could even be used to lure him to the Kitchen at night. So with Frank's seal of approval, I am happy to recommend this, I just hope he continues to like it and doesn't get bored of it because as a supplement it will last a long time.

Without wanting to go into the ins and outs of cat kibble ingredients, I can just state that this is a huge sack of cat food - if you are feeding your cat 50g a day, this sack is going to last you about 6 months (but maths is not my strong point so do double check this figure!!!). I wish I had this when we had our feral pack of 10 cats, it would have been an absolute bargain.Anyway, it has a zipper to kind of keep in the freshness, which works to a degree, you could also decant into airtight containers to keep it fresh for longer. The most important thing for me is that the cats love it. Like other users, we have one that picks these pieces of kibble out of her old food, then ignores the old food.Price wise, this compares to the basic cat food like "Go Cat", but I can't really analyse the benefits of the composition as I'm not a scientist. We've had our cats close on 18 years and they have always eaten kibble, I couldn't change this even if I wanted to. This, to all intents and purposes, looks "good", but at the end of the day, I can't control the rubbish my cats eat in the garden (mice, rats, rabbits etc) so I'm happy feeding them kibble. I am more than happy with this huge sack of kibble (which arrived in a cardboard box if that's of interest).

This 3kg Lifelong (Amazon brand) chicken and rice complete dry cat food is suitable for adult cats and is supplied in a ziplock bag to keep it fresh. The kibble is a good size and is quite whiffy(!) which while not appealing to me did not distract my 2 feline testers aged 4 and 14 respectively. With no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives the food does have glucosamine and chondroitin for joint support as well as other additives for healthy skin, coat, heart and eyes. This kibble was certainly a hit with the 4-year old feline who has wolfed it down at every meal time. The senior lady, however, is a bit more picky and can take it or leave it – so she does as the notion takes her!As to quality, it is similar in content to budget brands and is lower in meat content and protein than their usual brand. Having said that apart from drinking slightly more than usual, there have been no tummy upsets or other ill effects but given the senior citizens reaction I will return to their previous brand if only to ensure she eats all her meals as she’s supposed to. What's the old saying "Cat's have staff....!" 4*

The cat food arrives in a bag that can be re-sealed after opening. On looking at the ingredients I note the first ingredient is 18% chicken. The first ingredient will often indicate the overall quality of the food in what to expect and will provide a guide to the costing level the product is aimed at. The first ingredient will be relative to the other ingredients used i.e. colouring, flavourings vs natural products. I note the content on this cat food is good with chicken listed first main ingredient. The food itself is relative small in size, its easy for cats to eat. There is no particular odor noted when opening the food or dishing this out into bowls. There are guidelines in the packet in relation to the quantity that should be offered to the cat when putting this out for them. The bag of cat food was offered to our neighbor who has 3 cats. The cats are fussy about their food, however this food was eaten without hesitation by all 3 of them, I think personally they liked the quality. The effects on the cats have all been positive and no downside in their routine after eating this food was noticed.

My cat is very faddy indeed about his food - up till now I have found only two brands of dry food he will eat, and he won't eat the same variety for more than three days running. I now have three to choose from. The minute I opened the bag his head came up and he started sniffing with great interest. He was at his feeding mat before the bowl was, and that's more enthusiasm than he usually shows for dry food even if he's really hungry. He ate the lot, which again is unusual as with dry he tends to just eat about a third and then come back for more later. And he was as keen on it later that day, and the next, and the next. So as far as taste goes, it obviously appeals to him. The smell is not unpleasant, and there's no mess - unlike his usual foods, though he does scatter this one around he cleans it all up after the bowl is empty. The bag is enormous, which does make me worry he will get bored before its empty, but it also seals very well with a ziplock part way down the bag, so I'm thinking it will stay useable if I give him a week or so break from it. I'm very impressed with this product all round.

Amazon Brand - Lifelong - Complete Dry Cat Food (Adult Cats) with Salmon & Rice (1 Pack of 10 kg)=== THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT ===* The cat loves the taste of this food - he will pick out the kibbles of this one and leave his usual food behind. He keeps coming back for more.* Cheaper than my usual cat food* Smells nice to me!=== NIGGLES ===* The protein and meat content is low compared to the usual cat food I buy* A kilo pack is only going to be necessary for someone who has numerous cats or someone who's prepared to spend the time decanting the food into smaller tubs to preserve freshness (this is what I have done).* Although the zipper on the pack provided a complete seal, there was a slight split in the top of the pack (circled in red in the attached photo) through which air could escape/get in, thereby impacting on the freshness of the product* Even if you re-seal the zipper every time the pack is opened, you'll still be letting in air each time the pack is opened. impacting on the freshness of the productFor sale at the time of writing this review at £19.43 (£26.30).

I’ve used a certain brand for years and although it’s not the cheapest, the contents were always in the best interest of the health of my cats. Although it had continued to get more and more expensive and was on offer less and less. Was searching for some deals and come across this, thought why not let’s give it a try as the ingredients didn’t have a couple of things I actively try and avoid which was a plus already.Although the first order that arrived had a broken seal, Amazon were quick to help resolve this with a swift resolution.I know I know l...The proper way to introduce new food to cats is to taper the mix over a week or two but I have them a little bit to see what their thoughts wereand they both polished off the small amount and eagerly looked at me for some more.I got through the 1st week and found they were actually picking out the new food as a preference ? so I didn’t bother with anymore messing around and just done the switch and they continue to love it.Best of all, it’s a great price, more than half of what I was paying for the same amount so saving some money as well.

‘kay, Misty, 16 and lacking a fair few teeth, is an old hand at reviewing cat food. We have our little ritual, me faffing around with alternatives, her waiting patiently for a little something to keep her going for another hour or so. She’s an old lady who knows what she likes. Basically it's anything Felix - not my fault I got her aged 12 and her habits were set. Try to sneak in something else, like Aldi’s luxury, or Sainsbury’s cheapo, or free-range chicken 80% meat stuff that costs a fortune, and she utterly refuses. So, not an eat-anything kind of cat, and…….She ate this. Managed to gum, and occasionally crack, her way through a bowl with no problems, then went back to bed for about 6 hours,so a success I’d say. See picture of a post-prandial cat!Huuuuuge bag that will more than likely outlast her, and will need careful storage to stop it getting odourless and tasteless through exposure to air. For those of us who like to vary our cats’ diets, and who only have one or two, this is too much, I wouldn’t buy such a quantity.

I get fed up buying individual boxes and small bags of dried cat food. Not only is it an expensive way of buying, but inconvenient. Unfortunately there is currently no indication of price for this big 10kg bag, but as an Amazon brand I assume it will be competitive.I have 5 cats, and two of them are very fussy, but all of them fell on this dried food, and clearly love it. This is a good quality food with balanced ingredients, and although I also feed them wet food as a treat, this would be a complete diet solution. The pieces are small, and the food smells good, unlike some other dried varieties. This 10kg bag will last me just over a month, and I am hoping Amazon will extend the range and offer alternative flavours. The bag is good quality, and thick enough to stop them trying to tear it open. As all five of my cats are enjoying it, I have no hesitation in recommending other owners to try it.Another very good product from the ever expanding Amazon own brand range, and enjoyed by my cats more than a lot of other premium foods.
