Amazon are forever surprising me with their new product lines and where there used to be just AmazonBasics, there are now so many different product lines it can get quite confusing. I've tried quite a few over the last year and have says found the products good value and very good quality. Lifelong (an Amazon brand) is a fairly new product line this time for pet dogs and cats. This review is for the 'Lifelong Complete Dry Dog Food with Salmon & Rice'.This dog food comes in a large re-sealable (with an inner ziplock bag) 15kg bag. I have to admit at first glance it appears to be quite expensive at £40.50 (price at the time of review) per bag. However this is a good quality food which has quite a few added ingredients to keep your dog healthy. It has natural prebiotics for digestion, glucosamine and chondroitin for healthy joints, taurine (which is missing from a lot of dog foods) for eye and heart health as well as various vitamins and fminerals (vitamin A, D, C, E, most of the B vitamins, biotin, zinc, manganese, calcium and omega 3 from the salmon) for skin and coat. It also contains 26% protein with only 3% fast content. As you can see this food is well balanced and nutritionally complete. This particular food is for the larger dog breeds so my taster for this is my son's two year old lurcher Keelo. As anyone with a lurcher will know their two main passions in life (other than their owner) is running and stealing any amount of food that they can. This is of course is food they shouldn't have, like the steak left out for defrosting, anything that's edible out of a bin even your complete plate of dinner if you turn your back even for one second. However when it comes to their own allowed food they can be quite picky. My son's lurcher is true to form and doesn't particularly like his own food preferring to graze throughout the day rather than eating it one go. My son has never purchased a food as expensive as this one for his dog before and had high hopes that this might just be the food that his lurcher relishes.IThe nibbles are round and a good size, they have a decent smell (quite meaty rather than fishy) and the daily amount for the weight of my son's dog is 350g. So this sack of food should last for around 42 days which works out a little under £1 a day which isn't too bad considering.INow for the taste test...My son filled his dog's food bowl with the required amount of food and called Keelo for dinner. In he trotted, up to his bowl, sniffed and promptly...walked away. Oh dear, not a good start. My son had an idea, he poured some of Keelo's food into one of the cat's bowls (his dog always steals the cat food). Keelo went straight to the cat's bowl and woolfed the lot down, he then ambled on over to his own bowl and eat about half. My son carried on feeding his dog with this food during the last week or so and although he doesn't eat the whole bowl straight away, he does finish it quicker than any other food he's tried. My son is happy to continue buying this dog food for his dog especially as he has noticed a reduction in loose stools which was a bit of a problem with other brands.

Lifelong Complete Dog Food SALMON & RICE for Adult Medium & Large Breeds -15kgLIFELONG is another new dog food from Amazon, and it is made in Spain. This particular variety is designed for MEDIUM & LARGE breed ADULT Dogs. My testers are my two rescue dogs. "Amber" (a 14yo Mongrel) and "Maisy" (an 8½yo Irish Border Collie). They are both within the weight range for Medium Dogs, and as usual, are both eager to help taste testing!• Yet again, Amazon has come up trumps with this packaging. It is BRILLIANT! The food is packed in a sturdy plastic sack, which is easily opened by pulling off the protective flap, unzipping the opening of the sack and then just pulling apart or slitting the inner sealed top.Re-seal by closing the sack with the zip lock! Perfect!!• On sniffing the food it smells tasty, (a bit like fish and chips) but it is not too strong or overpowering.• The kibble is round shapes like Smarties, but a bit bigger. There is hardly any smell left on your hands and no residue, if you are putting the kibble into an activity toy for your doggy friend, rather than pouring into a bowl.• There is a Daily Feeding Guide printed on the side of the bag, which goes by the weight of your dog. This can obviously be adjusted to suit your dog as required.Dogs weighing 10-15kg Feed 170-230gr per DAYDogs weighing 15-20kg Feed 230-280gr per DAYDogs weighing 20-25kg Feed 280-330gr per DAYDogs weighing 25-30kg Feed 330-380gr per DAYDogs weighing 30-40kg Feed 380-480gr per DAYDogs weighing 40-50kg Feed 480-560gr per DAYDogs weighing 50-60kg Feed 560-640gr per DAY• There is other useful information printed on the bag, including the all-important list of ingredients. The information is multilingual.• This LIFELONG SALMON & RICE dry Dog Food has a Protein content of 26% with a 16% Fat content. It does contain Maize. Chicken is also included.• There are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives in it. This well balanced complete food for our doggy companions contains Glucosamine & Chondroitin to support their joints. Biotin, Salmon & Zinc is included to assist in healthy skin & coat. Taurine is added to aid healthy eyes and heart. Natural pre-biotics aid digestion.• The kibble has a reasonable crunch to it. "Maisy" always crunches her food but this one did not sound quite as hard as others. Both the dogs loved it and neither of them experienced any digestive problems – just looked for more!IMPORTANT - please remember that when changing over your dog's food, you need to do it gradually, by slowing introducing the new food into the old and then to gradually up the quantity of the new food, and thus reducing the quantity of the old food.Lifelong Dog Food from Amazon is, in my opinion, a good quality food, which I have no hesitation in recommending.

My friend has two dogs so kindly agreed to review this.Life long Complete Dry Dog Food for medium to large Adult Dogs, chicken and rice. The dogs knew something good was coming there way even before the postie knocked on the door. Once the parcel arrived their tails swished around and they sniffed at the box and then the packet excitedly. They don't show that much interest when their usual dog food comes through the door. My dogs absolutely loved this dry food, although I've not yet found a dog food that they wont eat. However as an owner its good to see it has no artificial colours, flavors or preservatives added. It does also have ingredients that claim to be good for coat, muscle, bones, prebiotics to support sensitive digestion that is developed by nutritionists and checked by vets.Although my dogs can eat fish I know many cannot and yet fish is often added to what are described to be meat flavoured. I was therefore pleased to see that this did not appear to contain fish. Always a bit disconcerting to see how little percentage of meat are in these dry foods but as far as dry foods go this certainly seems to be one of the best ones they have eaten. The plastic packaging keeps it fresh but of course it would be good if a more environmentally packaging could be used. It was a good quality plastic bag though as I had a flood in the area where I stored food and thank fully it didn't effect the dog food at all, whereas a heavy card type sack would have been ruined along with the dog food. Its made in Spain so depending on what happens with Brexit it may become more expensive or difficult to obtain. I guess as far as environmental footprint ideally it would be better to be able to buy food of similar quality without having to have it imported. It has a reusable seal which I like, it looks a little more robust then a different variety in a smaller packet of food my dogs trialed so I will be interested to see how long this one lasts for.

When I added some of thIs Lifelong to my dog's food bowl, he sniffed at it, and walked away. I was rather surprised as I have previously purchased Lifelong for cats, and they all love it. They also love this Lifelong dog food, which isnt altogther surprisIng as the ingredients (aside for protein levels) look identical. As soon as he saw the cats descend on his bowl he came back for another go, and finished the lot.He is used to another brand of dried food mixed with gravy and wet food, but it is an extremely expensive combination, and we had hoped to replace it with a single dried food. So, he seems to really like it now, but whether we can use Lifelong to replace his existing diet completely is another matter.Ingredients wise it is very good quality, and well balanced. It is available in much larger 15kg bags which works out a lot cheaper, so we are hoping his enthusiasm will continue. He's a fussy dog, and I dont take his initial reaction to be a reflection of the quality of the food at all. It is an excellent product, and although more expensive than supermarket own brands, it is a lot cheaper than a lot of other premium dried dog foods.I am going to persevere and switch him over to Lifelong gradually. Not only is it a lot cheaper than his existing food(s), I'm sure it is a lot better for him too.Day 2 - He obviously wasn't sure at first, but wolfed the whole bowl down in record time this morning. This is encouraging, and based on this the Lifelong for dogs definitely deserves 4 stars. Hopefully there will be other varieties in due course, just to offer a bit more choice.

I've had a bad experience or few changing our pets' food, and know the drill - introduce small amounts, over a week or so, increasing the amount of the new food and decreasing the old. So far in 3 mixed meals, there's been no adverse effect, though Bella has drunk quite a bit more than usual, but this could also be because the heating is on.The smell obviously can't be detected whilst the bag is sealed, but once it's opened and you've resealed it (there's a pretty decent zip), there is a fairly pungent odour that emanates that seems to be attractive to the cats more so than to the dog.In terms of the composition? It's comparable to similar foods from the 2 main big name brands in the UK,though not the more specialist ones. For anyone on a budget, especially if your dog takes to this as well as our weekend buddy did, you'll be happy. The only slight moan is that when Bella goes home tomorrow night for the week, we'll have to send some with her so that she can continue to get used to this, and had the food been in smaller bags, it would've been easier and handier to transport. This large size bag means you do get a decent quantity, and you don't have to lug it home, but the whole thing won't fit into one container, and you need storage space for it. Something to consider if you don't have much space.

The Amazon Lifelong dog food -Salmon and Rice variety - is contained in a resealable zipped bag which is handy when considering the large size pack. The food is quite expensive when compared to similar on the market but as the old adage goes: one gets what one pays for, and the ingredients of Amazon Lifelong are high quality stuff. For example all animal ingredients are fit for human consumption. My dogs have been introduced to the food as advised and there has been no adverse reaction. Normally we keep their dog food in a bin, but it was partly full with other dog food; my husband had fed our two dogs taking the food directly from the bag but inadvertently did not zip it closed.A little later we looked for our German shepherd and found him in the utility room with his head in the bag of Amazon Lifelong Salmon and Rice, helping himself! Suffice to say, I think he loves the food!As I think it is a little pricey - 4 stars. This review also applies to the Chicken and Rice variety of the dog food in that although it could be deemed rather pricey, it is a high quality food for dogs. Needless to say my dogs make a bee-line for their food bowls as soon as it is served!

Our dogs absolutely love this complete dry dog food! even the cat has attempted to climb in the bag to get her fill whilst it was open. (She didn't appreciate being unceremoniously removed from gorging herself on kibble but I'm sure she'll get over it) its been empty bowls all around which is definitely a good thing - long may it continue! The bag itself is resealable, it has a ziplock fastening at the back, at kibble level when the bag is stood up. This is definitely a bonus feature and will make me much more likely to recommend and to purchase from the range in the future. So why the four stars and not five? I don't find the ingredients to be of a high enough quality to give five stars. In the long term I don't want them to have so much grain and maize. I'd also, ideally, rather they had meat that was from a purer source as the main ingredient. 'meal' tends to be all sorts. Buts it's a bit of a minefield with kibbles unless you're spending mega bucks which not everyone has.All in all I'm pleased with this kibble and given the packaging and the dogs enthusiasm, will be buying it in the future for them

There is a lot of food here and it stays fresh as the bag has a neat zip on the back to seal it. There’s no odour or smelly tins to rinse, and it’s in nice little nugget shapes which my dog crunches on. I serve it as is, with no other dog food. This is Amazon’s own brand of dog food, and they have done their research with this product being developed by pet nutritionists and checked by vets. It claims to provide 100% complete and balanced nutrition, with the predominant ingredient being chicken. It contains 30% fresh chicken, meat and animal derivatives – considerably more than canned dog food.It contains natural prebiotics to help with digestion, plus glucosamine and chondroitin for joints.Taurine has been added for healthy eyes and heart. Also boosted with linseed for shiny coasts, zinc and biotin. All natural products or bulked out with soya, barley or dairy.Does my 4 year old Corgi like it? Yes, very much and he’s looking fit and healthy on it too. It’s obviously flavoursome, because he eats it all – with the tinned dog food, he often leaves it and it goes off. Recommended.

This is a budget dog food, rather than a top notch or mid-range one - but does seem to be a hit with my brother's mid-sized dog. My little dog (a miniature dachshund) wasn't interested in this at all - she's completely uninterested in chicken as a meat on its own, and its presentation in this kibble didn't inspire her interest at all. As far as she's concerned, chicken is not food. Suits me fine - it's consistent, and at least she's not interested in the live chickens in our garden either! - and my brother's bigger dog will usually eat anything my mini beast won't.My brother's dog is a 9 year old black lab/King Charles cross with a sensitive stomach. He loves this as a change from his regular food.Swapped in slowly, as a variant rather than replacement for his regular food, he's had no digestive problems at all. The food comes in the form of little, uniform kibble pieces that can be eaten easily wet or dry, for textural variety and the sack has a practical peel off opening section that reveals a ziplock fastening to keep the food nicely once opened.

We tested this out on our two senior dogs who are both well within healthy weight range and thanks to maintained activity get hungry on a low calorie senior food so we feed them regular adult kibble with a wet food topper. This is a good sized kibble, not too small to be pesky with bigger teeth and gums and big enough to give a satisfying mouthfeel for the dogs, with smaller kibble they tend to feel full slower and eat more. It is oily but not too pungently scented, i must say my dogs prefer a oily kibble as opposed to super dry so this is a benefit for them.My greyhound thought this was brilliant food and went investigating the labmuddles bowl immediately and was told where to go as she was very much inhaling it too. This seems to go down well and they were happy throughout the day with no tummy upsets after trying. This is good nutrition for the price, some competitors in the price bracket are not as high meat content and depend on gluten based grains to bulk out the kibble whereas this is more rice led.Overall I would buy this again.

My old hound is generally fed a dried dog food like this. Although I do like to give him a bit of variety and will give him scraps and canned dog food every couple of days. Most of the time, I feed him the working dog dry feed that you can buy really cheaply in Aldi and Lidl. This Amazon feed with salmon and rice is aimed at medium and large dogs-which he is- and not surprisingly, he wolfs it down with gusto! After saying that, he wolfs nearly everything I give him down with gusto so I can't really offer an objective account of his personal preferences when it comes to dried food.I have however, also given my cats Amazon's dry food and they certainly are a lot fussier than a dog and they like ther Amazon mix so all I can say is,Amazon dry foods are obviously tasty enough! The makers do offer the usual claims re vitimins and minerals but I'm no scientist so its all Greek to me. Overall...an acceptable and reasonably priced dry feed.

Provided in a resealable bag, I'm very pleased with this 15kg Amazon Brand - Lifelong - Complete Dry Dog (ADULT) Food with Salmon & Rice. All three of my large German Shepherds eagerly devour the food straight from the bag. The ingredients appear to be of extremely high quality and the smell of the small dry pellets is not too strong for the human nose. After a few days of using this Amazon brand food my dogs do not appear to have suffered any adverse reactions. Their coats continue to shine, their stools are normal, no flatulence or sickness and all three dogs leave empty bowls at each mealtime.I always ensure that fresh water is available when dry food is being consumed and I have noticed that each of my dogs drinks quite a lot after each meal, but this is not unusual. I have no hesitation in recommending this product, although the price is quite high compared to similar dog foods.

This food is a 26% protein mix, which is higher than you will need if your dog is not a working dog. If he/she is very active then this will be ideal. However, this is only 5% salmon, the remainder being chicken, corn and pea protein. Its a bit misleading to call this kibble "salmon" protein when the salmon content is that low. This is a large pack which will keep most large breeds going for roughly a month. The fat content is 16% again quite high so you will need to keep a watch on your dogs weight. Its never a good idea to play around with a happy hounds diet too much once you get them settled, but the process of getting them onto a food they like, and on which they flourish, can be quite a lengthy one,so if you are in transition, this will be worth trying for a large active breed, but do remember to transition slowly over a week at least, and better if ten days

Giving this to our Boston terrier and first impressions when trying it out was that one bowl got half wolfed down the rest left. Now at least he even tried it without totally pulling his nose up at it. Which if you knew him you would say a miracle. No nasty dog food smells come from this with it being dry but not a really meaty one either. Now chicken he loves rice bit hit and miss but for some reason he’s now decided that one bowl was enough and will eat bits of it if given as treats when usual treats have been scoffed already. The price works out well and a good one that is if your furry friend likes it. A resealable bag to keep it fresh and no you wouldn’t think it an amazon brand one but another well known dry dog food.Yes some dogs will eat anything unfortunately ours isn’t one of those dogs well apart from his beds and cuddly toys.

I have tried a number of Amazon brand products and every single one of them has been outstanding. Amazon Solimo dog food, amazon cables, razors, computer mice. All of them better than anything else on offer at much higher prices. This dog food is another great example. I put a large bowl of dog food out every night for a family of foxes that live at the bottom of my garden and they love this food. As another reviewer has stated cats seem to like it as well which is weird. I saw my neighbors cat at the bowl the other day and I think he was eating. He is a scrounger so I think he was eating it. My own cat doesn't fancy it but that's not surprising. However for canines I think this is really great.I tested a bowl on my neighbors dog and he liked it as well. Keep up the great work Amazon.
