My cat is pure black, and this really doesnt help him out in the kitty cat world, or be seen as he crosses the road, never mind how many types of reflective or flashing collars we put on him, as if being black isnt enough to worry drivers,he has the added disadvantage of being born will null road sense so after getting clipped a few times, it was decided the safest thing to keep him safe was to have him as an indoor cat..... (added note, black cats are well known for no road sense and are most commonly kept as house cats)The one main thing missing from any, and all house cats diet is grass, its pretty essential to their diet as they use the nutrients from it to help digest their food and settle their stomachs when they are ill.It also helps them get rid of fur balls too so being stuck with out it is not ideal, let alone can be pretty dangerous as they will try to nibble on your flowers etc too, and most of them are poisonous to them so you do have to watch out for things like that, but this stuff, well it is healthy and natural for the cats. Its full of the goodness, the right type of grass for them and so far seems just like the grass they eat outside, only alot healthier and greener......infact i wish i could have a garden full of this stuff!!!You get the package of mixed seeds and compost complete with a little shallow tray to grow it all in.So off you go!!Pour in the mix and add plenty of water and place it somewhere warm, i used the bedroom window as it recommends that cats should be offered it at a decent height, think it was 3/4 inches, and the cat doesnt go there. Within a couple of days the whole grass mix had swollen with the growth and it was sprouting well, within another few days i had a full miniature garden and wow those seeds are good, like really good. What i have is a tiny version of the worlds greenest garden, the perfect greenest lawn that has an absolutely amazingly soft springy touch to it, did i mention that is a dream lawn in a pot?!lol !!! I have only just offered it to the cat who is , well at present a little confused as to why there is suddenly a garden sat in the kitchen and why one of the kids was chasing him with it ..... but he has had a good few sniffs and im sure that once he gets used to it he will nibble away at it.As an added note this is the 3rd box of cat grass i have tried and the first to actually make it to a good length or germinate properly hence me giving it the 5 star rating.....One thing i would add, there are an awful lot of seeds and in all honesty i think you could probably split it into a slightly smaller tub and use half or similar if you wanted but if you want the full on grown dream garden with the bounce, use the lot ;) Kitty says hi in photo 1 ;)

Prompt delivery; good packaging. I honestly didn't think this would grow at all, as it arrived with a big bag of seeds and a plastic tray. The instructions were a little lacking, to be honest, but I simply popped the seeds in the tray, watered them, and set them on the windowsill to grow (covered with a little cling film to keep the cat off). The whole tray sprouted and grew within a week! Very impressed. Cat was over the moon - nibbles at it, sleeps on it &c. In fact, the cat loved it a bit too much as I did find that it died off after about a month (not sure if I over/under-watered it or if the cat sitting on it killed it off; there were no ongoing care instructions so unsure what I was meant to do to keep it alive once it had sprouted)but for the price I'd buy this again in duplicate and leave around the house for the cat. Great for house cats who don't get outside. Keeps them away from the house plants. Great value for money.

The instructions are pretty basic so I thought I’d missed something. I initially used half the bag of seeds and watered, they seemed quite saturated to me and I worried I’d spoiled them. After a couple of days I decided to add some compost, watered and waited. It was suggested that there would be visible growth after a few days but this wasn’t the case for me - after a week it still looked like nothing was happening. I was just in the process of throwing the batch away when I noticed a few shoots under the top layer so I put them back by the window. A few hours later these had shot up and a few others appeared and by the end of the day the number had doubled. The next day there were even more and they’re shooting up quickly now. For anyone worrying about lack of growth after a week, you might need to hold out just a few more days before it is visible.

It tells you just add water, but it would be much more helpful if they told you an amount of water - the trays must be all one size and they will have grown these themselves before selling them, so I believe they should know exactly how much water is best. They should also say how often to top water up and again, how much. My grass did grow, but I may have drowned it, as it was probably about an eighth of what I expecting from the picture.Well, I obviously didn't drown it. It's only been a few more days, and now it looks exactly like the picture, just with some shorter blades of grass where my cats have been eating it. I would suggest leaving it away from the cats to grow fully,as they had quite a bit on the floor when there were fewer blades. Now they just snack away. I will definitely buy this again.

I got this because my indoor cat was having a little trouble going to the bathroom. He'd always been the way and cat grass had been suggested to me via the vet. It just helps things move a little better and increases the water they take in. It's also a nice wee treat that kitties love, I had to keep hiding this from mine! You don't need to use all the seeds in one sitting, I used half the bag in the tub provided and it grew amazingly fast and as I've mentioned my kitty loved it. He was able to go to the bathroom a lot easier and he seemed much better all around. It just needs light and some water. If you overwater it won't last long as with all plants it will start to decompose but just give it a little often or whenever it needs it and you'll have a wonderful treat for kitty in no time

Product arrived quickly and it is as described. You get a white tray with a mix of perlite and grass seed in a bag. Put the seed in the tray, water and put somewhere warm and sunny. Only just got it so I can't say much about the grass (hence the 4 stars) but after 3 winter days there are already a few seeds sprouting so I think it should work well.Edit: It's now 17 days since I wrote the review and I've raised the rating to 5 stars. Both trays now look exactly like the product image with very thick growth. I have these sitting on the window sill and the cat happily munches a few blades on the way in and out of the window.. she loves it!Hanging my head in shame I must admit I've sneaked a blade or two and they really are suprisingly tasty but we shall never speak of this again!

Brought for my guinea pig. Was a bit confused by the instructions as not really clear. Comes with a plastic tray and a bag containing seeds and a pearlite type mix. Tip the contents into the tray and water. I kept on the windowsill in the sun and after 3 days shoots appeared. Keep very well watered I discovered. After a week I have a tray packed with bright green very thick grass. It just shot up! Piggy was scared of this new green hairy animal in her playpen to begin with and would run away so I cut grass off to feed to her. Now she loves it and toddler off to feed herself whenever she fancies. I'd buy another one but will see how long this one lasts first.Just keep watering and cutting to keep it green and luscious.

I bought this grass for my cat about a fortnight ago hoping I could grow something resembling grass for her by Christmas....well, even my usual ability to kill anything green within about 5 minutes hasn't stopped my grass from shooting up, it's amazing, it grew so quickly and easily and is already a couple of inches tall. Really, no skill or knowledge required for this, empty the packet into the tray, add quite a bit of water (I did anyway) and leave somewhere warm with sunshine (mine is near a radiator under a window). Within a couple of days mine had started to sprout and since then it's just shot up. Great product and so good for the price, I'd highly recommend it.

I put this in a pot over a bit of potting soil and some water, and nothing happened for a few days. But I added more water, and suddenly it ERUPTED! So much grass grew, it was so heavy, I couldn't believe it.However - a massive caveat, which is no the seller's fault (hence still 5 stars). Beware of the affect this stuff can have. It made my cat extremely hyperactive. She was a lunatic for the whole 3 days she was eating this stuff. It gave her boundless energy, which for an indoor cat was hard to cope with, and ultimately lead me to throw the plant away. So, this is excellent cat grass - but cat grass can have odd effects. Your mileage may vary.

i might be being stupid but the instructions didn't mention the need for compost. i wet the seeds (without compost) and they didn't grow, so after a few attempts i sprinkled some compost from another indoor plant to 'activate' the seeds and they grew really quickly.our cat is an indoor cat so this is an essential item for her, other people who say this is useless may have outdoor cats who already get their grassy needs fulfilled elsewhere. our cat was very interested in it and licks and chews the grass, not as much as i had expected but i guess she knows what she's doing.

at the moment I have only given it 4 stars as I have only just received it. It arrived very quickly which earned it 4 instead of 3 stars. It came in a plastic tray with what looked like a lot of gravel with some seeds in it.The instructions said pour into the tray and water well, which I have done. It looks like wet gravel with seeds in it.It says put in a warm airy light place.I have put it on my kitchen window sill.It says after some days the grass will grow and I can give it to my cat.If it grows ok and my cat likes it I will upgrade it to 5 stars.

These is the size after 7 days. I was expecting it to have grown more but I acknowledge that 5 out of 7 days previous was under cold weather alert. It has been gloomy, raining and not much sunlight, even for winter standard. Perhaps that’s why it hasn’t grown as much as I expected. But you do see growth everyday. Just need minimal watering. And most importantly my cat starts eating them as soon as I present it. Would definitely buy again and see if having good sunlight affects speed of growth.

I have chosen this rating because I bought four trays to save on postage but have not yet needed to plant one. The previous tray, which was bought from a pet shop and is of a now discontinued make, is still in use. If kept well watered the trays last for many weeks. They are essential for indoor cats, as they provide nutrients not available in normal food, and also help the cat deal with fur balls. My cat eats the grass every day, and if the new ones are just as good she will be well pleased!

This grass really does grow to a lush full length within about 8 days upon providing daily water and sunlight. My only drawback has been that my cat does not really like to eat it. I am not sure of the reasons but I think part of it is because it is very shallow and when an animal tries to eat from the tray part of the soil content is loosened and can get into their mouth. The cat does love to brush against it and lay by it feeling like it is a part of the outdoors inside the house.

Grew this in my kitchen, under a Himalayan pink sea salt night light, as most days here in Wales have been so dark/rainy there was little light. I watered it with distilled water, a thin stream, and it got thick, green, and beautiful in a few days. My cat has been eating a plant from outside that isn’t good for her. Weirdly, she is not interested in this lush, fab fresh grown grass, yet having it around means she’s given up eating the plant that makes her throw up. Wonderful!
