Although this looks like a racing Speeder from the harsh desert planet Tatooine in Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace, this is actually a Speeder from the harsh desert planet Jakku in the latest Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens film. Jakku is a sandy planet located in a remote section of the Outer Rim Territories, being the home of thieves, outlaws, scavengers and Rey - a human female scavenger who trades there some thirty years after the 'Battle of Endor'. Rey dresses in tan, ragged clothes, including a scarf around her head with a visor that was once part of a stormtrooper's helmet. She owns this red Landspeeder which she uses for fast transportation. Apparently Rey's lack of a second name in the film is deliberate,so speculation has it she is probably the daughter of someone or other.Anyway this Speeder is from the new Star Wars VII film released in December 2015. So after viewing, this Rey and her Landspeeder Lego set will be a hit with the kids. It's typical Lego, easy to make for those aged 7+ and even easier to lose bits afterwards, but unless it's Rey's head probably no-one will notice given the run down nature of life & equipment on the planet Jakku. Star wars vehicles, spacecraft and character figures are always cool and sort after by the kids (and by adults 40 years on), so 5* for the Lego set. The model isn't very large at around 5 inches long, but it certainly looks detailed and cool (it's even got the pilots instrument panel and detailed front radiator grills).Rey's Lego Speeder comes with dual stud shooters, twin opening storage hatch/engine bay doors, the side-mounted bag (for attaching the supplied blaster, buzzsaw, electro-binoculars & bazooka), moveable/tilting rear control fins, a grey toilet thing that doubles as a hidden contraband chest, Rey's removable headscarf, and the character figures Rey and Unkar’s thug with a crowbar (presumably a baddie with poor weapon choice). The set's £19.99 on the official Lego UK shop, and often discounted a bit via Amazon. The twin front cannons on the Speeder really fire the little red Lego disks, and turning the rear engine jets opens the two side doors on the front engine bay. There's 193 Lego pieces in all, and like all kits the building instructions are available as a 4MB pdf download from the Lego website. My son thought Lego Rey's speeder looked very like The Whizzing Arrow spacecraft pods in Oban Star Racers (no bad thing). Suitable for kids aged 7 to 12, including my 8 year old nephew who loved it.

Well first up, this is Star Wars and this is Lego, so it's pretty much enough to get any grown man's heart racing. I received this set from my sister as a birthday present (I'm a thirty-something, for the record!) and was not disappointed in the slightest. I have to admit from the image on the box I didn't think it was the nicest set from an aesthetic point of view, but I ended up changing my mind on that front. The Rey mini-figure's very nice; she comes with options of having her normal hair or covering up entirely with the head wrap and goggles. The head also has a smiley face on one side a frown on the other, so with the head wrap off you still have a couple of options for how she looks. The Unkar Thug's a nice little extra as well; as another reviewer has mentioned, a BB-8 would have been nice, but at least the Thug gives you something to shoot down with the speeder's cannons! The set overall is deceptively detailed. I figured it was going to be a 10 minute job, but with around 200 pieces it clocked in at around 40 minutes build time. There are a lot of very small (ie. 1 square/circle) pieces, so for a small child some adult assistance would probably be required, as well as a flat tray to help keep the pieces visible. The build itself is nice and sturdy, with everything holding together well and not falling apart as it was being put together (a problem I had with some elements of the B-Wing).When finished, it's a decent size, stands up nice and stable, and looks nice as a display piece (I'm sure it plays well too!). The front cannons pack quite a punch and are easily powerful enough to blast down the Thug figure. I can imagine the ammo will get lost and vacuumed into oblivion quite easily, but the set does give you eight, so you'll have plenty of spares. And there's a nice little mechanism where the storage doors open by turning the engine at the back of the speeder, which I probably found far more entertaining than I should have done! All in all, this is a great set! So if you're not a billionaire playboy and so unable to afford the Millennium Falcon or one of the other big sets, this little speeder is a nice addition to any geek-cave, and fantastic value for money.

This is the smallest of the seven sets Lego recently released as previews from the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. It features the vehicle itself plus two new mini figures: Rey in her scavenger outfit, with a sand mask and goggles which can be swapped for her hairpiece, plus asinister looking character identified only as Unkar's Thug. Both are up to the usual high standard, with detailed prints front and back. The speeder itself features side flaps (possibly air brakes?) which open when you twist the bottom rear engine to reveal a cargo area, plus a stud-firing gun on each side. The build itself is relatively quick and straightforward, although the frame of the vehicle is somewhat delicate so requires careful application of pressure when building; grown up assistance may be required. There are a few stickers which children may need help placing, too. The finished model is fairly small but packs in some great details - Lego does tend to be rather expensive, especially the licensed sets, but of course the value is in the limitless rebuildability (I think I invented a new word there). This speeder appeared briefly in the trailers for the upcoming film - which, at the time of writing, is all I have to go on, so I can't really say with any certainty how accurate the model is to the screen version; nevertheless it's a fun set that Star Wars fans young and old will want in their collection.

In Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Rey seems to be the intergalactic version of Lara Croft, getting into spills and danger with people trying to steal things from her or just try and bump her off. With danger lurking everywhere in the Empire, a good Speeder craft is required and Lego have created another intricate, detailed but as ever, easy to create model as part of the new range.Rey's land-speeder has everything needed for scouting and defending, including dual stud shooters, opening storage hatch and side-mounted bag, blaster, buzz-saw and electro-binoculars. There’s also a detachable sled with space for a mini-figure when Rey must make a quick escape down the desert dunes!Includedare the all important mini figures Rey and Unkar's Thug who strangely equips himself with a crowbar instead of a blaster. You can rotate the engine to open the storage hatch to store Rey's goodies or use the side-mounted accessories including the sled. Size, I call these the mid ranges, bigger than the Micro models and detailed enough to captivate curious minds, young or old. Built, just over 9cm high and 14cm in length.First impressions when you see the box is quite likely unexcited but with the contraband safe, stud firing weapons and opening sections along with the accessories, Lego have again designed a great licensed model, recommended.

A Lego kit is a great present for a kid, especially as you can get something from a few quid to well over a hundred pounds. Throw in the Star Wars licence and the price for even basic kits can creep up alarmingly. However this sub £20 kit offers good value for money as far as I'm concerned.Rey is a character in the latest Star Wars film (Episode VII: The Force Awakens) and her speeder can be seen in the teaser trailer for the film. How much it features in the actual film remains to be seen, but her character and speeder also appear in the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". Rey is fairly prominent in the new film. The kit is built in two stages, and is a straightforward build. There's a few stickers to apply, but nothing too awkward and the speeder is quickly assembled and ready for play. There are a couple of figures included with the build, including Rey. There are oveable air control surfaces and a neat pair of guns at the front that fire Lego buttons surprisingly well. This is likely to be overlooked in favour of more recognisable characters from the Star Wars world, but it's a fun kit to build and enjoyable to play with. As an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego), I have a fair number of LEGO sets that are pretty large - this is one of the smallest sets I own (if not the smallest), and it is by far my favourite set. When purchased originally it was less than £20, and in terms of value for money if you take build satisfaction as well as looks it is potentially one of the greatest LEGO sets ever made in my opinion. It took roughly an hour to put together, and it’s a great size to pop on a bookcase or on a desk. The Rey minifig comes with a ‘hair’ piece and also her face covering - I tend to keep the face covering on and the hair piece is stored away inside the hidden storage section of the speeder.Unfortunately this set has obviously been out of circulation for a few years, and this has pushed the price up through resellers considerably. Would I buy this set at £40+? I’m not sure - it’s a really nice set, but I think that might be pushing it a little, although I would have a long hard think to myself about it, and I may get it - if Episode 7 is your favourite Star Wars film.Nice little set, but market value may be a little high for me now.

As can be seen from many of my other reviews I’m very much a Lego and Star Wars geek, and unashamedly so. I don’t buy them as investments, I buy them to build once and display forever. Half of the enjoyment for me is the build, the other half is seeing them dotted about the house. This review is for Rey’s Speeder, a craft that appears in Star Wars Episode 7, Force Awakens. The vehicle is a new spin on the various speeder bikes in the Star Wars universe, and it’s a welcome addition. The set comes in under the £20 mark, but you should be able to find it around £15 quite often. For that sort of money it offers pretty decent value and comes with Rey and one of Unkar’s thugs as mini-figures.The build is pretty straight forward but there isn’t too much repetition, something which happens a lot with Lego Star Wars sets. It should take you 30-45 minutes to complete, which is acceptable for the cost.Overall it’s a decent little set and suitable for Lego and Star Wars fans alike, young and old.

Lovely little, not so little, chunky model. People have been critical of this stating it looks slow and heavy but this is the best speeder since the ROTJ scout trooper version. It's got the far, far away galaxy version of a V8 in there and hammers any of those hybrid pod-racers that run on chip-fat and mung beans. And it hasn't got an annoying primary school child with a puddin basin haircut behind the controls. Taking about the minifigures, Rey looks great. The headgear/goggles are terrific and it's great to have the choice of hair/headgear. The other figure is a more elusive character but he has a quality hood but a slightly weak face print. It looks kinda feeble in comic-book robot-ey type of way to my eye at least. But he does have a pearl gold crow bar what more could any thug want?

This is a stand lego model easy to build and with great detail. The age range says 7-12 but I have bought lots of this age lego for my 5 year old Godson - so I think you can be pretty flexible with the age range if the child you are buying for is pretty good with their hands/common sense. One of the other reviews, by Charlie-CJ, goes into far more detail about where this comes in the film franchise - I'm not THAT much of a Star Wars fan but do love a bit of lego. The two cannons actually shoot, although I'm sure not for long as the bullets will easily be lost. Over all another great addition to the Lego Star Wars collection and one of the cheaper ones!A great buy for those already bursting at the seas for the new film.

Loved building this Star Wars vehicle. It took around 45 mins to build... With help from my 3 year old daughter. Without her it would have taken 30 lol.The set comes with 2 bags of lego, instructions and stickers to put on certain pieces.Once complete it is great fun and has opening doors via a turning part at the back of the ship, as well as 2 firing cannons at the front. They fire the little round lego lights and are quite effective! They go quite far...At £14.95 it's a bargain for licenced Star Wars lego. And it has a figure of Rey which is a bonus. She has interchangeable head gear. Can war a mask as well as just her hair. All in all an excellent set.Last pic shows the leftover pieces

My six year-old son and I put this together in about an hour--a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging hour for both of us.We love the look and feel of this speeder and will enjoy it more, I'm sure, after we've seen the movie. But the aesthetic (even down to the stickers) captures the feel JJ Abrams has said he finds most appealing about the Star Wars universe--that it is lived in and, in many ways, a universe that is past its prime and is in decline. This speeder is all that we expect from LEGO. It is interactive both as a model to build and as a toy to enjoy. It has inventive moving pieces and creative uses of space that show LEGO is still innovating.A solid addition to the LEGO Star Wars series.

Are you a collector of Lego or is this for a child? If an adult collector you will love the two mini figures but the speeder will probably not sit on your display shelf, it isn't the best looking piece that has been released. If this is for your child to build they will enjoy putting it together, it shouldn't take much longer than 45 minutes and once built it is quite a solid item, it won't fall apart easily. I will be honest, I didn't purchase it for the looks, I wanted the Rey and Unkar’s Thug mini figures so the rest was a bonus.I probably wouldn't have purchased this at the full price of £19.99 but at £14.53 it is a bit of a bargain.

This is a nice little kit. The only one of the new Star Wars kits we could afford at Christmas as our son already had another Christmas present. Despite being small, it is a very nice kit once put together - the ship is good to look at and has side opening flaps with a compartment inside, in which the little box fits (you can store ray's sand mask in the box I think). You also get the character Rey from the new film, and a baddy. Easy to put together and would make a nice addition to the other kits (he's getting the Millennium Falcon for his birthday so we'll have two Rey's then, but only this one has the sand mask).

You can't go wrong with Lego. My daughter loves Star Wars, and this is a perfectly priced set for a gift. In this case it was Valentines day. Some of the new Lego sets, while nice, are very expensive. It took her about 30 minutes to put it together, but she was really impressed with the stud shooters that actually shoot, and the movable storage containers. The sign of a good Lego is if they play with the finished product. Then you know they have had fun building it and using their imagination to play.I highly recommend this Lego set, and I am sure we will be expanding our Lego Star Wars collection before long.

It's not particularly difficult to assemble, if you follow the purely pictorial instructions. There is a lot of attention to detail, and a range of moving and removable parts to enjoy. it comes with 2 lego characters. One of the two supplied characters has a choice of hair or helmet. There are stick on transfers included to give even better detail. This is obviously a tie-in for the forthcoming star wars film.We were surprised that it came with a few spare pieces, but once we tried out the firing mechanism for its guns, we discovered that some spare ammunition is essential.
