First-off, I bought this set at £49.99 which is the RRP on release. At that price, the fact is that this set is about £10 overpriced. I could have been pushed at £45 but at £49.99 it really is clear that this set doesn't warrant that price tag. Now that that big detractor is out of the way, and the reason for the star removal, I can safely say that the set itself is a great one! Its just ashame that Lego chose to price it the way they did.[Some Minor Spoilers Below]We get a bunch of minifigures, most of which we have seen before but there are reasons to pick this up if you already own them. Two First Order Stormtroopers to begin with. We have seen these guys before in various TFA sets and it is never a bad thing to get more of them. Two is a good number for the size of this set, but we do get an interesting accessory. That is, the riot baton-style close combat weapon used by TR-8R in the fight against the lightsaber-wielding Finn during the scene. That has become a memorable scene already, so its good that Lego allow you to recreate it here! Finn is the same old one we got before, he comes with a blaster and lightsaber - fitting for the scene. Maz Kanata is a brand new figure though and she comes with short legs and a fine printed body along with a specially-moulded and very highly-printed head. I have been very impressed with the quality, precision and detail of the prints on these TFA figures and Kanata is no exception. I have a feeling she will become very lucrative on the second-hand market once this set disappears from shelves. To round off the set, we get Kylo Ren. This is not the same Ren as we got in the Shuttle set though, as we now get a human sculpt and hair piece to swap out with the mask piece. This is a great addition and makes it worth picking up this new variant. I am also happy that Lego provide a cheaper way for kids to pickup Ren, as the Shuttle set was double the price of this meaning the main villain was probably out of reach for many kids. Aside from the sculpt and hair, he comes with the same cape piece and lightsaber we saw before but has no printed mask head anymore - just the moulded helmet that is put ontop of a head. It is a little big and goofy, but you can get away with that in Lego. All-in-all, a fine selection of figures and perfectly acceptable for the scene being depicted. Now comes the build, which represents the entrance and a piece of wall from Maz Kanata's castle that she runs as a den for Smugglers and Bounty Hunters - much like Mos Eisley Cantina from A New Hope. This is a well-detailed build and looks very nice as a backdrop for the main action between the figures. There is a very effective colour mix of greys, tans and oranges which give it a very good 'aged brick' feel and add nice detail to what could otherwise have been a plain, flat tan structure. You get a small set of steps up to the main door which slides open from the back. On the way up, there are some studs stored in one of the steps that can be 'pushed' outwards at speed from a lever at the back - allowing you to simulate explosions and debris once the battle kicks off! This is a strange feature though, and I have a feeling the studs will get lost quite quickly. There is a single hanging flag above the door. It would have been nice to get some more, given the scene in the movie showed *a lot* but it does the job at getting the 'feel' of the place. Two tower-like pieces flank the main gate and provide a bit of dramatic style to the look.Joined to the side by a hinge, allowing for rotation to create an L-Shaped or I-shaped terrain piece, is a wall section which ends with a tree. This wall continues the same detailed and mixed construction and has a couple of play features built-in. Firstly, the tree can be 'knocked down' by a lever at the back to knock over and unfortunate figures underneath or provide a bit of difficult terrain to fight over. There are also two separate wall pieces that again are knocked-over by a lever at the back and provide the same functions. These features both help to simulate the dramatic destruction of the castle as seen in the movie when the First Order raze the place to the ground. It also changes up the battlefield a bit and allows you to change the look of the scene as you fight over it - something I'm sure kids will have fun with! There is a final play feature involving a hidden box stored in the wall that you can store the lightsaber in - something anyone who has seen the film will understand.Sadly, though, this is where it ends. There is no more to the building, and at the back there is no interior of any kind. This really is just a facade leading to nowhere. This is why the set I feels does not warrant the price. In the movie, this is a vibrant hub of activity the way Mos Eisley Cantina was and its a shame that Lego wasted the chance to show some of that. What you see is great, and well-done, it just makes me wish they had done more. The set goes together quite easily, but most Lego sets do thanks to the very handy numbered bag method. Rather than dumping a ton of bricks out at once, Lego split the builds into smaller ones which gradually go together. This really helps speed-up the build as you spend less time rummaging through mountains of pieces and more time building. They also split the figures up throughout the set so you slowly build the full compliment rather than getting them all out in one-go. It does add some excitement and helps motivate you to keep building! To wrap-up, this is a great set by any measure and there is nothing really wrong with it. Like I said prior, the star removal is purely down to what I see as too high a price for what we get here. If it was cheaper, my complaint about the lack of *any* interior whatsoever would not have been voiced as it would have been fair for what they're asking. But, at this price, I think there is really no reason why Lego couldn't have included some kind of interior - or instead added a bit more size to the overall structure. Right now, it does feel a little bit like they tacked on some extra money because they knew people would want the Ren and Kanata figures. Wasted potential - that's all my complaint centres around. Aside from that, the backdrop is great, the figures are superb as you always know you'll get from Lego and as a playset this has enough features and figures from both sides to make for a fun and enjoyable play for kids! The figures are also likely to be highly-desirable by adult collectors too. So, a great set - just not so great a price.

This set is relatively small for the price but I'm sure they'll be a big seller either way thanks to the minifigs. My two sons, 5 and 3 have been Star Wars mad for a couple of years and after collecting various sets from the original films it's great to see the new movie and all of the new merchandise that's come with it.My youngest son turns 4 soon and we bought this for his birthday. This will be his first real bigger set of Star Wars Lego of his own. We went for this because he's desperate for a Finn. We're finally letting him make the step up from Duplo after he's looked after his brother's other sets so well without breaking them. They've got quite a collection of sets in various sizes, from small £20 sets to the Ewok Village, the Droid Transporter and the large ships belonging to Kylo Ren and Darth Vader. Although some were around £300 they did seem well priced for the amount of minifigs included as well as lots of cleverly designed moving parts. When you look at the others, especially some of the ones around £20, this does seem overpriced. Luckily it's on sale at £43 from £49 so that's something.

My son really wanted to get this set to complete his Lego Star Wars collection. The model itself is very plain and basic but don't let this put you off getting this. The set actually offers loads of play value and my son hasn't stopped playing with the set since getting it. He likes the fact that you can make the wall collapse onto mini figures and make simulated explosion by pushing a lever to make mini studs explode out of the steps on the base.As parent this has offered a lot of imaginative play for my son to act out the battles between the Rebels and First Order. In my humble opinion, this makes this set well worth getting just because of this. The set comes with a total of 5 mini figures including Finn,Kylo Ren and two stormtroopers plus Maz Kanata that adds a lot of play value to this set.

I got this as the latest addition to an ever growing collection of Lego Star Wars sets. I have been looking to get a Kylo Ren minifigure, but could not justify paying £99 for his command shuttle. Then I saw this set and noticed it comes with not only Kylo Ren, but Maz Kanata too!! MUST HAVE!! The set itself has some nifty little features, which you will be all too familiar with if you have seen The Force Awakens. If you're happy to mix it up a bit, this set also looks great if you back it onto the Mos Eisley Cantina (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00I4IXCAU?keywords=mos%20eisley%20cantina%20lego&qid=1452530812&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1) to give it a bigger feel. I highly recommend this set to any collector and to any Lego fan, period!

Arrived on time but the Lego box was very battered, tatty, worn & had bits torn off. Item should have been listed with damaged box as the box it came in with other items was perfect and so were other items. Disappointed as it was a gift.

Great selection of minifigures, but beyond that most is subpar. The build is just a façade, but a good looking one nonetheless. Biggest let down is the RRP, but I managed to snag it here with over £10 off, so I'm happy with my purchase.

Stand out lego figure with separate hair add-on. The lightsaber is pretty cool and the little material cape adds to the figures look. I would definitely recommend anyone to purchase this for their ultimate star wars collection!!!

Very happy 6 year old son when he opened this at Christmas. Lego mad, so no problem building it on his own. Good size set for the price and even impressed his older brothers.

Fabulous, arrived really quickly and my little boy is absolutely made up with it. Good selection of minifigures and lots to do with the set. Couldn't be happier with it!

The recipient has shown his approval by playing with little else since receipt. And being lego it cant break - its a winner all round!

2.4.2017

Only two sets has Kylo Ren minifigure ... the Kylo Ren's Shuttle which is very large and this one. And this isn't a small set either!

Xmas present selected by Grandson who was extremely pleased to receive it.My own view is that it is lacking in value for money.

11.3.2016

The mini figures are the best feature. The castle is fun but could be bigger for the price.

6.7.2016

Great price unfortunately one piece was damaged but Lego fan so had own spare piece

14.12.2016

Not the greatest build, but great for the minifigures. Wouldn't pay full RRP.
