Full marks to Lego for this one, an imaginative playset that picks up on the obsession that many young children - mostly girls - have with TV talent shows. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.As always, there is a clear, purely graphic instruction leaflet supplied, and at the time of writing, an instruction video has just gone up on YouTube.Children under seven or so will need lots of help with this, as there are lots of small fiddly pieces. Ideally, it's best for seven upwards, or for those with siblings ready to assist. Many families really enjoy Lego as a family activity, something that all members of the family can enjoy. This set does have minifigures (Andrea and Chloe, great names)for smaller children to amuse themselves with, while siblings or parents get on with constructing the main set. There is quite a bit of play value in this for the imaginative child who wants to re-enact TV talent show scenarios. This small world construction prompts imaginative play, and creating dialogue between the figures is sure to feature. This particular set has a lot of construction that underpins other construction on top. It's one of those toys where a lot of little bits have to fit together before you see results. For this reason, it isn't really suitable for younger children, there's just too many small bits that have to go together. There are nearly 500 pieces in this, that's a lot.Once it's put together, as well as the main talent show stage, there is also a separate production desk, which will provide additional play value. The playset itself is an imaginative creation, and will prompt imaginative play in the right child. The Lego Friends playsets are tilted more towards traditionally female interests, and it's good to see two female playfigures, with Andrea being the producer of the show.

Having just reviewed the complete mad Lego Movie II Disco Bus Lego set, this set is something of a come-down in price and content, but still a lot of fun. Here we have Andrea who, with her friend Chloe, Stephanie, Emma, Olivia and Mia, are taking part in a talent show. The set comprises a rotating stage that serves up three sets, with loudspeakers, lights, and even a “fireworks” feature that pings out Lego bits. There’s also a, a dressing room, and judge’s desk with voting buttons, camera, and winner’s trophy. Three performance acts are included: drums, magic (with pop-up rabbit) and singing. To add more action, there’s a phone app to provide background graphics for the stage. As a grownup not thrilled by TV talent shows,it was a bit lacking for me, but the children had a lot of fun with this. There are over 400 pieces to assemble - a bit of adult supervision helped things along. There are some tiny pieces in there, so it’s really not for children under the 7-year minimum specified on the box. This is a set that depends on the imagination of the children playing with it; it’s very much a springboard for creative play. An obvious game is to reproduce one of the many TV talent shows, or to use the stage as a theatre. This set also combines with set 41383, which features a motorbike-riding hamster act (oh yes indeed folks!)How much play value a child gets out of this set is likely to depend on their interest in performing arts. For our singing and dancing little ones who go to theatre school, it was a blast.

I find the Friends series to be great for role play activities. We have a few sets at home and my daughter prefers to play with the Friends series over the Disney Princess sets as they seem to provide a larger variety of play. This particular set, while not one of their best in the series, this provides a decent addition to the collection. It is not vastly challenging albeit there are some technic lego parts (fireworks and moving mechanisms) which may need some assistance to put it together. This kit has some nice moving parts to help with the role playing. Different elements on the stage rotate and there is a firing mechanism for stage fireworks. The added magic box with the rabbit is also playful.Friends series has lots of small accessories which my daughter enjoys playing with. It is these small parts which sets the Friends series out. They provide a lot of activity and depth to role playing. This set is a good addition to the series and if you already own the Friends sets, this will provide a good addition. It is not the ideal first Friends set you should perhaps get, but rather a set which you add to the collection, purely from longevity of play.

I love lego, so am very biased in favour of anything lego when writing reviews. This is another great set, allowing you (or your child...) to build a music stage and populate it with instruments and girl band. All the pieces were present and the usual excellent instructions meant this was a doddle to construct. In my children's hands the concerts are more Ozzy Osbourne than Spice Girls (sorry, really out of touch with youth culture, I don't know any other girl bands, please forgive an old geezer his ignorance) but that sort of inventiveness is all the fun of lego. 5 stars.

I (and my 6yo and 9yo testers) love the Lego Friends range. To older purists it may seem a long way from simple bricks but the quality is great and the way the parts fit together positively and smoothly is characteristic of real lego. "Compatible" sets never feel anywhere near as nice to me and its worth paying the extra. This set would tick the traditional "girly" box as the setup lends itself to stories involveing performance and shows. Lots of imaginative play here, as well as the practical skills of setting it up and rearranging it to suit the narrative.

This is a great little (well, big) Lego set that includes the small figures of Andrea and Chloe, plus a cute little rabbit that is part of the magic set. There is loads to do just with what is supplied but you can incorporate other sets to make this an even bigger event, as well as use an app to create different backdrops, although we haven’t done that as yet.I thought interest may abate after the initial play at Christmas but there has been daily interaction which is showing no signs of abating, so I guess some extras will be next on the list.

My daughter loves this set. It was easy to build following the pictorial instructions. There is lots of play value to be had in it. She especially loves the disappearing bunny magic trick and the voting flags for the acts on stage. It becomes even more fun when you put your phone behind the stage to provide music and backdrop for the concert. Lots of lovely little details and well thought out components. My daughter will have lots of fun playing with this. You don't need to use your phone to play with the set, but it does add another dimension.

In a world obsessed with talent shows, it is only a natural progression that Lego would eventually make a set to match the trend.Set aside you cynicism, and this set is brilliant fun. As well as the characters that come with the set you can introduce any others from the Lego kingdom. Endless fun is guaranteed.Build time is roughly 25 minutes, and tie recommended age is pretty accurate.

A fun set with some interesting brick variations end colours and the rock stage format worked well for my nephews- even if one of them started out saying it was for girls only with those colours. The difficulty level is fine from around 6 or 7 if they are fairly experienced Lego builders and we like it

My youngest is a big fan of the Lego Friends range and was delighted to get this. It's a good size set, and great for play/role-play around the talent show theme. It's nice that with this set there are a few interactive parts (such as the rabbit-reveal and 'fireworks' display).

My 8 year old grand daughter asked for this for Christmas., She assembled it easily enough but I gave it four stars because some children might find it more challenging. It came quickly and she was delighted with it. Thank you.
