To cut to the chase - this is a great whisky! Read on if you want more detail...Lovely bottle - really heavyweight and classy looking. Lovely bronze colour in the bottle and the glass. The nose is subtle & classy - sweet with a little citrus zest. Quite 'rummy' actually. Not overpowering at all, but very fragrant. The taste is fairly sweet with a nice oaky mouthfeel following. It has that typical Canadian taste to it, but oh so smooth and mellow. On the finish the sweetness dissipates and leaves a lovely dry and slightly (but not overly) astringent aftertaste which serves to balance out the sweetness well.Overall, I'd say this is an excellent whisky. Sweet, woody, fruity. This tastes like Christmas in a bottle! The 18 years haven't overpowered the whisky with wood, but just smoothed everything out. It's also excellent value - try and find another 18yo bottle of ANY spirit for anywhere near this price, I challenge you! This will appeal to Canadian whisky drinkers of course, but if you've not had any before then I'd liken this to a decent cognac, or even a good (dry) aged rum (like Mount Gay XO, for example). It has a lovely fruity sweetness to it that is subtle and just great. Try it - I'm sure you won't be disappointed. And anyway, you can always have the bottle ready to show off at dinner parties and look like a Dandy! :)

I'm into my dark spirits, my favourites being single malt whiskies, preferably Scotch (although Japanese ones are often pretty special). This is my first Canadian whisky, and if I had been doing a blind taste test I would have sworn it was rum. This is why it lost a star for me as it wasn't what I was hoping for. It got 4 stars though, because it tastes like my favourite rums- fruity, dry and quite complex- such as Santa Teresa 1796 and some Foursquare rums. Actually I've just checked the prices of those rums out on here and they are more expensive than this whisky so maybe 4 stars is unfair!

My favourite Canadian blended whisky which isn’t available on the high street. Expensive but got mine at a reduced price.
