The Johnnie Walker Platinum is an absolutely superb whisky, and definitely one of my favourites. I purchased a bottle which I have just finished, and will definitely be picking up another. As others have alluded to, the presentation is superb, with a JW Blue style thick glass bottle inside an inventive box, meaning you certainly feel you are getting your money's worth with this premium whisky. Upon tasting the whisky does not disappoint either, being a beautifully smooth sip with a big mouthful of flavours. My whisky tasting vocabulary is not as developed as that of other reviewers so I will leave that arena to them, however I can assure you of a delicious dram. Many reviews on here comment on price however I can certainly say that (currently)at around £65 delivered this whisky is certainly worth that. Flavour wise it is almost on a part with the JW Blue, however despite the premium packaging does not quite match the ceremony of drinking that (as you would expect). Were the price to drop below £55 (in a promotion) you should not hesitate to pick up a bottle or two.

This is a lovely little whisky. It's got a lot of JW's Platinum Label going on but is completely different in the finish. The first sip felt a bit rough compared to normal JW fair but then I took another and my view changed completely. It's got a smoky burn in the finish that gets better with every sip and shares some of the sweet goodness from Platinum.Definitely worth a try but allow for it not being super smooth in the finish and, hopefully, enjoy it just just as much for that! For the comparative costs, if you are considering this and Platinum Label or if you've tried Platinum and are wondering if this is worth a try - I'd go for the Platinum. If you are curious and want to try it though the JW 18 is still definitely worth a try!

This whisky has a very deep smokiness to it which predominates. The flavours within are deep but clouded by the smoke, giving subtle hints of ginger and dried fruits. Ice/water brings out more flavour, including the smoke. It does give a pleasing tingle on the tongue. It is a drink that I would only enjoy on a special occasion as 1 glass is enough to finish/or toast to a night.Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent drink with a large amount of Class with it, but for the price i would much rather spend it on the slightly cheaper Johnnie Walker gold, whose flavours are more pronounced, making it a much easier palatable drink.

Found this by chance after looking for expensive whiskey to impress my partner as he adores all Johnnie walker and has never come across this so I thought I would take the plunge and buy it!I have to say the packaging and bottle itself look first class, no messing around with this one, as with all Johnnie walkers the bottles are lovely and heavy so I thought I got value for money with the look alone. After he opened it and praised me to the high heavens he said it was a lot smoother than he expected and had several friends try it who had never see this label before, which he loved so there you go! Will definitely buy again

I was one of the lucky ones, my seal was not tampered with after reading all the occurrences I was worried! Now onto the dram, this is a great blend, maybe one of the best out there, it's incredibly sweet with a kick of spices although I didn't get any smoke but I've only had a couple small tasters. At £54.99 this was a steal, I would buy again and recommend to most from beginners to experienced whisky drinkers!

Where Johnny Walker's cheaper offerings (Black, Double Black and Gold) seem to focus on a balance of smokiness (reminescent of Talisker) and flavour, the Platinum throws a complete curve ball by comparison. There is no smokiness to be found, but instead there's a complex smoothness of floral notes with nutty overtones, and a subtle long lasting burn in the throat that teases you to take another sup. Glorious.

this is top money for a blended scotch so the expectations will be high. I can't help feeling that the brand, bottle and packaging (probably cost £15 of the total price!) make it a little more special than it really is. That said, it's well rounded, smoky and creamy with some subtle sweeter notes. Not something I would drink on a week night, I'll probably put it at the back for special occasions.

I saw a lot of reviews reg the bottle seals being broken. I believe that the supplier (Diageo) is aware of this problem and is an issue caused in transit. I believe a solution is also being looked at. My bottle arrived today with no problems. I work in the packaging factory for these bottles which is how I know this. Just thought I'd mention this since I've seen a lot of "counterfeit" reviews.

Wow. Ive tried the red, black, and double black and never really thought twice about Jonnie walker all those previous whiskys I've tried have been avarage at best. I usually drink single malts like glenfarclas 15, Glen Scotia double wood, Aberlour Abundah ect..But this Jonnie walker took me back. I was very pleasantly surprised. Amazing whisky. A new favourite for me for sure.

I have drunk a lot of this before it went to the “Platinum” version of the 18yo. This is different, I know it’s a blend and they will change over time for that reason, but, this is not as smooth as I remember by a margin. It still has its sweetness but there is a rounded smoothness that just isn’t there anymore. Maybe this will change in time.

I bought this to add to my collection of johnnie walker. I'm led to believe this is to replace the gold label. I think I got a bargain on this price and I can only imagine this along with my other bottle will go up in price in the future. Some have already doubled in price already since I bought them. Recommendwd for any whisky collection.

For sometime I've wanted to try this version, so went for the plunge. Upon opening the box I notice damage on the inside sadly, never mind. If you want to get a gift for sometime, to wow them, this is one to go for and a bold age, very enjoyable for a novice or whisky fan.

One of my favourite blends. An incredible improvement over the JW Black and smashes the JW Blue in terms of bang for your buck. Quite sweet compared with previous releases but still a superb example of a premium blend. Paid just under £60 on a deal and well worth it.

very good whisky. I ordered Johnnie walker ".platinum", whisky which arrived was "18 yr old" I discovered that platinum has been rebranded 18 yr old. Pity they didn't specify with order to save me time investigating. However the whisky is excellent.

A lovely smooth tasting whisky which once again is kept for a special time.I really liked the bottle shape as well which made it look good I know this shouldn't matter but when a product is quite expensive it helps if it looks good as well.
