You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to buying a puzzle game for your ds. The market is awash with so many similar titles, particularly because the ds is so well suited to the genre of puzzle/logic games. So with that in mind, each game has to provide something original and different to become a stand-out title, and persuade you to part with your money.Does 'Cradle of Egypt' do this?Yes, is the answer. But only just. The premise of the game is simple enough - match coloured gems to make then disappear. In that respect it's very similar to games such as 'Bejeweled' and 'Puzzle Quest Warlords', but where Cradle of Egypt attempts to deliver it's unique selling point is in the adventure/strategy aspect of the game. With each completed level, you are awarded that ability to construct a little piece of the Ancient Egyptian landscape. The more you complete, the more levels are unlocked. The more levels you unlock, the more you can build. ..and so it goes on.This aspect of the game is a cross between a simple reward system, and a (very) basic simcity-esque affair. It could so easily feel like a gimmick, but the balance is set just right, and as the levels tumble you will actually find yourself looking forward to seeing which part of the city/landscape you can build next.Cradle of Egypt, in my opinion is a very good game.It is primarily a puzzle game. But the little extras that become evident while you play really do elevate this title from mediocre to enjoyable - something that is very admirable within such a saturated genre. The only downside I can think of is that the game isn't terribly long. Hence why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. But that really is the only gripe.Overall, if you like puzzle games then you will find Cradle of Egypt to be very enjoyable game indeed, and one that you will never want to trade-in. Recommended.

I just love puzzle games and I was told that the Cradle of Egypt would be a game for me. I purchased it about a month ago and at first wasn't quite sure what I was doing. After a while I realised that you need to clear all the dark blue squares and then get rid of the bug before you can clear a level. I am now on level 20 and cannot get past it. I have been on this level for 2 weeks now and spend every bit of spare time I have trying to master it. 3 times I have almost got it and then my time runs out. I think my husband is now getting fed up with me not talking to him because of this game. I am the sort of person who will never give up, so if this game takes me another year to complete, then so be it.It is a very addictive game and be prepared to lose hours at a time.

We love this game for our DS but can anyone tell us if they have had the same problem with it. We have been on level 20 for weeks and couldn't solve it, but how annoying when twice it has crashed, when i have turned it on it has been deleted nothing there and all games on zero. so annoying. it has happened a few times, is it something i am doing. soon as i switch on and the Union Jack comes on the screen i know it has deleted all the games...anyone else had this happen?? we have 2 of these games CRADLE OF EGYPT and it has happened to both of them on different DS machines - so back to zero we go again!Annie - Hampshire uk

This is a great game for anyone who loves puzzles. I am pretty useless at most games, being in my sixties but this is really great. Anyone who enjoys playing Bejeweled will love this. The levels go from really easy to very challenging. You are rewarded with credits which you can use to buy things like a well up to the pyramids. I have just bought the Temple of Karnak! You get tools to help you destroy the tiles and you need these in the harder levels. It's great fun and I find it addictive. My adult son enjoys it too. Once I realised you had to get rid of the blue tiles there was no stopping me!

Bought this for my niece who wasn't sure about it at first sight as it is not the normal picking for a 9 year old. She really likes puzzles and was very interested in Ancient Egypt hence my reason for picking this as a gift for her. However, once she actually started playing she found she really enjoyed it and wanted to keep playing. My sister also enjoys the game when my niece has gone to bed! There is a battle going on between them now as to who can get the top score.

I prefer the graphics on this version when compared to Cradle of Rome. Both games are just as frustrating and just as addictive. There have certainly been times when my DS could easily have been thrown across the room in frustration. On both Rome and Egypt I got right to the end only to be told I wasn't good enough to become the boss - so you have to start again. Once the swearing subsided I have actually started Egypt again - I must be mad.

I bought the first game Cradle of Rome a few months ago and really liked it. I'm a big fan of this type of game and can easily spend a couple of hours at a time playing it. I immediately pre-ordered this game when I saw that it was due for release and I haven't been dissapointed. New bonus tools and over 100 new levels that I'm working my way through. If you like this kind of game of matching 3 or more jewels then give this a bash.

Cradle of Egypt is a good mix - not too easy, not too hard. Very very addictive. I am not a fan of the action games (age-related perhaps?)but this is excellent. Levels are different so keep you interested. Very good. Only criticism is that the instructions/explanations could be better/longer and the game seems to decide what/when you buy anything with your resources. However, it is easy enough to understand but great fun.

I was very impressed with this game. I got it as a little surprise for my wife (she likes puzzle games) but I haven't put it down myself! At times it can become frustrating (I'm stuck on a level at the moment) but in general it is a really fun and simple game. The building of the Egytian village/settlement thing is a nice little side asepct of the game that rewards your efforts. A really good deal at just over a tenner!

This game is great value for money as you can't quickly finish it, you very often have to go over the same level many times. This can be very annoying and although i've completed all the levels twice i have been unable to purchase the pyramids at the end due to not having built up enough points. I'ts worth buying though, you can easily spend a couple of hours on this game and not realise it, i'ts so addictive.

Bought this for wife for her new DSI XL, hasnt stopped playing since she got it for xmas, so must be good, and its not to easy or to hard for her to play, and still has levels and puzzles to do. well pleased with this particular game. delivery a litle slow, but this seem typical of Console type of games for some reason.Good for any age, and the building of the pyramid gives an extra point from her:)

I love this game! As a 52y old didn't think I would get that into it as has been the case with other games yet this is driving me bonkers!! I am truly stuck on level 15 with loads more to explore!!! I use it mainly whilst waiting to pick up 6yr old up from school after work. In fact both of us actually fight over the ds to do this game. So value for money as both use it!!!

I bought this game for myself earlier this year and when my granddaught (aged 10) came to visit she started playing it too so I bought this copy for her. Up to 4 people can log in to their own game so that makes it good value. It's a game you can pick up and put down easlily so if you've got a spare 10 minutes to fill you can have a quick play.

I had purchased the previous 'Cradle of Rome' so was looking forward to playing its sequel. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this game, especially its added star guest! which appears on every level. This game was not as difficult to play as the first, so subsequently completed faster. Would recommend as it is addictive and fun.

This is the first time that I have played this type of game and I was not sure whether I would like it or not. I have not put it down since I started playing. The main game is challenging but good to play. In the relaxed mode I have just started to get my way through the levels. I would buy another type of this game in the future.
