Fairly easy to install after you figure out how to remove your blanking plates. No noticeable extra noise from the fan on low setting.Extremely easy to mount the drives in their chassis. You can use the screws provided as well as the screw-less system if you want.After using this for a couple of weeks, one thing to note is that one of the screws I used to mount it was a little too long and stopped one of the drives from going in all the way (lesson learned, use the ones they give you).Something else I didn't think about is you can't use right angled sata cables to connect to the back as you'll block off the power socket (only really a problem if you planned to use existing cables you had lying around like I did).Finally,

Really nice little dock. The unit is short and so it first in smaller chassis, plus you can detach the rear fan to make it smaller if you're running SSDs or low-power drives and don't need the cooling. Also the trays don't require screws, the drive locates on plastic pegs and slides in in seconds. Sounds like it would be flimsy but it works well and I've seen many of this type of unit where the trays don't quite line up with the runners, leading to frustration and cursing, not this one. Solid product. Only qualm is the lack of any intelligent backplane to report on drive status of each bay but that's not really an issue for small systems.

Had some older 500gb USB drives which I wasn't using, and decided to use this to build a NAS together with an older desktop PC and FreeNAS software.Fitted excellent into the spare drive bay, would have given an extra star of the fan was completely silent bit sometimes makes a noise when I restart the server and it spins up for the first few minutes. So far no issues at all, great build quality

Nice and compact easy way to expand any desktop with additional storage. I've added it to an HP N54L Microserver, which now has 4x 3.5" WD Red HDD drives, and 4x 2.5" HDD & SSD drives (yes had to add an additional PCI-e card with a mini-SAS connector to 4xSATA)... really easy to install and very compact and expandable NAS running CentOS 7.2.

I've been wondering what to do with all 2,5 inch HDD laying around the house from my laptops upgrades. Bought this rack and put them all inside. Easy connections to the motherboard, easy to identify which HDD has which number with nice blue indicators. Connected, installed the OS and 20 min. later I had very nice looking and functional NAS!

When you have 5 ssd drives, as I do, this is an absolute necessity. Try not to over tighten the side screws, as they can scrape on the draws when inserting them. Add small washers if necessary. I've actually screwed my PC side panel back into place as a result. Would certainly recommend.

I have had one of these since 2011. I have four 500GB mobile drives (ST9500420AS) and is configured to run RAID 0+1 giving me 1TB mirrored and striped. RAID support on motherboard. I have never had a single problem. Its fast, quiet and wonderful.

Love these Icy Dock cages. Makes working with SSDs a breeze. Have 2 in each of my machines now to quickly swap things over. Just remember to enable Hotswapping in your BIOS, or risk data corruption when removing drives in Windows machines!

Sterling product for the price, works perfectly and gave my server a whole new storage array. Use lvm stripped and you have yourself a blazingly fast array :)

Three of the HDD activity LEDs are appearing very faint, unlike the top right cage which lights up perfectly. Never-the-less it does its job perfectly.

A good and useful dock, enabling easy changing of drives whilst live. Quality is good, as is appearance. We are pleased and intend to buy more.

...and it has been inside a computer that is switched on 24/7 and it is still working perfectly. Full of SSDs, fan still works. Very pleased

Four SSDs fitted, all working.Fulfills its design purpose with no issues so far. Metal trays would be nice but, those supplied do their job.

Had bought an unnamed model and it had a short as the PC would refuse to start up with it plugged in - the Icy dock worked flawlessly

Perfect allows me to used 4 2.5" drives, runs cool, not flimsy at all. You have the option of screwed or screwless drive fitting.
