In short this item fixes lens problems and is a great bit of kit.I bought the 18-35 and 50-100 for use with my 80d. I nearly sent it all back as I couldn't take a sharp photo anywhere near wide open. I researched into it and found there was a problem with sigma lenses and new canon dslr crop bodies with the dual pixel AF. So i bought this to make micro adjustments to the focal point. You plug this item in to the computer and lens and the software loads. You then have the option to calibrate the focus point on four different distances per focal length. My zoom lenses had four focal lengths each, so all in all i had to complete 32 calibrations (its tedious hence the four stars).I got a cardboard DSLRKIT Lens Focus Calibration Tool for a few pound from amazon.I stuck it down to a table mat to keep it fixed down. I put the camera on a tripod and raised it to line up with the centre of the calibration tool. I placed the camera away from the tool, the distance dictated by the software, having measured with a tape measure from the 0 on the tool to the sensor on the camera body (which should be marked out). I then auto focussed and took a picture (nb it needs to be well lit in order for the autofocus to work correctly). I dismounted the lens, uploaded the picture and checked the focus point. All were well out, so I'd then move the slider in the software in the corresponding direction depending on if it was front or back focussing. This is trail and error, but you save the new settings, disaassemble and retake the shot, then repeat until all distances and focal lenghts are shap at the 0. (I took at least 3 pictures for each of the 32 to attain shaprness, sometimes several more). It takes ages!An important tip. When focussed lenses will have some distance in front of the focal point sharp and some distance behind sharp. The distance in focus will be effected by the depth of field BUT the ratio will remain 1/3rd in front to 2/3rds behind. So when using this the 0 will be sharp as will a few lines either side. Aim for 2/3rds behind and 1/3rd infront. trying to get the front and back eqidistant will result in losing sharpness on the 0. - If that made sense!

This arrived yesterday, and although I’m only half way through setting up the lens (a Sigma 18-300), it’s already well worth reviewing. I also bought one of the cheap calibration charts a while ago, and having tried to adjust focus via the in-camera settings on my EOS 70D, I wasn’t at all impressed with the results. This is a different story. One thing to bear in mind with this tool is that it takes a LOOOOOOOONG time to do the adjustments, as to do it properly there are 16 different zoom/distance calibrations to do, and unless you shoot tethered (I don’t) you will be removing the lens and card after every shot, and probably taking a minimum of five shots per calibration unless you get lucky.I’ve spent 3 hours this afternoon and I’m only half way through the settings. You also need good light, so either a very well-lit house (with a decent length room), or a windless bright day outdoors so that your tripod is stable. All of the above is worth it though. The lens is. now so much sharper across the range, and if I left it as it is, I would be more than happy, but I’m going to complete the job tomorrow as every length/distance so far has needed a minimum of three “clicks” of adjustment.Quite what I’ll do with the dock after I’ve finished is anyone’s guess (my other lenses aren’t Sigma), but even if I never use it again, it was well worth the money.

First day using it I immediately attached the dock to my Sigma 150-600 as I've been a little skeptical about the focus speed and accuracy. I say accuracy, but it depends on the situation and a lot of camera settings can have affect on the final image. So as soon as I attached the dock and loaded up the software it said there was new firmware for the lens, brilliant, exactly why I purchased the dock, bearing in mind I only purchased the lens July 2018.I also set up my C1 and C2 settings. C1 - Priority AF focus for quick wildlife shooting (which is really quick now!) and Moderate view mode for Smooth Optical stabilizer. Then C2 I have set up for filming so, slower auto focus and moderate view again for OS if filming hand held.I haven't used the full focus adjustments yet, but will leave the Easy to use as 4 star as I have heard trying to get the correct focus settings if it's front/back focusing too much can be very tedious as you have to set up a tripod and fine tune each focal length. But for now I do not have Micro AF adjustments in camera so if it takes few hours and it works, then money well spent.

Using this on a Sigma 150-600 sport. No software provided - has to be downloaded from Sigma's site (best way in my opinion for any new piece of software or drivers), but easy to download & install. Software for this is basic but usable (automatically checks for firmware updates for both dock & attached lens when lens connected) - hopefully new features will be added over time, software also provides information not provided on lens box or lens (needed the serial number for this lens for my camera insurance - nothing on box or lens, but showed up on the home page of the software). Device itself has a plastic (yet robust) feel to it,provided cable is reasonable length (have been able to use this on my desk without the need for an extension cable or replacing the cable with a longer 1 (unlike some other peripherals I have) and has a solid feel when connecting the lens. Overall a good addition if you have a compatible lens.

The Sigma USB Dock Mount for Nikon Lens is an interesting widget for sure! On one hand, you have to ask yourself is it really required? On the other hand, it's an absolute god send and why hasn't the big players like Canon and Nikon joined the band wagon?I do not use the Sigma USB Dock Mount to fine tune my camera / lens combo; I use another program for this. I do however use the Sigma USB Dock Mount to dial in my lenses to suit my specific requirements. And that, is one of the reasons I like Sigma lens so much. I could use the Nikon range like everybody else, but Nikon lenses are not programable. And there in lies my problem. My advice, do your homework and decide if the dock meets your requirements. If you are looking to fine tune your Sigma lens' there are other options available. If you are looking to lock them into how you shoot, the dock is the go to widget.Personally, I wouldn't be without mine.

The dock has enabled me to adjust the focus on my Sigma 35mm f/1.4, which needed correction at longer focus distances. Your camera's autofocus micro-adjust function may be able to do the same thing but only at one focus distance, whereas the Sigma allows four different focus distances to be corrected individually. On zoom lenses, it also allows four different focal lengths to be corrected in addition to the four focus distances, making 16 combinations in total.I've also updated my lens's firmware via the dock, although no information was given about what the firmware update was seeking to improve. For the price,I think this is an essential accessory for any owner of one or more compatible Sigma lenses.

Brilliant kit for sorting your customer settings. Easy to install, and pretty much self explanatory.Price is good as originally these were at £75-£80. I waited and as expected they have come down to £39Only criticise is in order to fine tune the focusing, you have to keep dismounting it from computer and mounting to camera. The other thing is in order to fine tune focus on a sigma 150-600mm lens I have to focus on something around 30 metres away (50 X the focal length).Short of having a huge house or being somewhere undisturbed, followed by fetching the lens and then connecting it to computer, you can see how time consuming this and so have chose not to do this at all.

the first thing it did was update the firmware on my 150-600mm contemporary and it focused twice as fast and image stabilisation was way better after, autofocus calibration is a time consuming but simple operation, it took me 3 hours to get the lens sharp as a pin and the front focus v back focus variation through the focal length's and distance were quite considerable varying from minus 12 to plus 10 and all points in between, it's like having a new lens, faster focusing, more stable and accurate, if you own a compatable lens it's a must have, very happy with it,one niggle is the usb connection, it's a tiny flimsy affair so make sure you get the lead the right way up

Bought one of these little gizmos when I purchased my Sigma 14mm, f1.8, which was handy as I discovered the lens already needed a minor software update when it arrived.Fairly straightforward to use in conjunction with the free software (Sigma Optimization Pro), which is downloaded from the Sigma website. You simply attach the dock to the rear of the lens as you would the rear lens cap and connect it to your computer via the supplied USB lead. Then follow the online instructions. Simples!...A word of caution: The dock is NOT compatible with all (older?) Sigma lenses, so check compatibility on the Sigma website before you buy.

Title says it all. For now, the use of this dock is very limited. I only have the 35 1.4 Art and just updated the newest firmware. Since then I can't find any other practical use of this dock. The autofocus adjuster feature is not intuitive at all. I understand how it works, but don't have the nerves and time to deal with it. Basically you have to constantly attach and deattach the lens from the dock in order to mount it on the camera and check the results. Annoying is a small word. It could be great if there was some way of automatic adjusting... Or at least easier workflow.

You need to download the software from Sigma's website first. Configuring the settings are easy, I've heard people make a change, write to the camera then disconnect and reconnect for a another? This want the case for me, I was able to change all parameters of C1 switch, write the changes, disconnect/reconnect then do the same for C2. I didn't have to do it for each setting. The above mentioned are really easy settings to change, but there is a section for geeks that I have no desire to delve into.Bought this to use with my Sigma 150-600mm C.

This new Sigma Are lenses are worlds appart from some of their much older lenses. A real top line of lenses by Sigma. I see that Nikon are now intreducing a simler thing with their new line of Cameres the D5 and D500. The Nikon sisten works inconjunction with the Live view on the camere back. I am not sure if you tune it in with the lens set to manual and wate to see the constant green light shoen?? Or it could work in auto I realy dont know but it will save on postage if you need to send a lens ans camere back in for fine tuning??Mike

Does what it says on the tin.Software installs easily and is very intuitive and easy to use (for me at least)Used to program the C1 and C2 profiles on my Sigma 150 - 600 mm F5 - 6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Nikon (on Win 10 PC)Have yet to get round to testing focusing adjustments but need to find a well lit area with enough distance to use focusing chart at correct distances. Have gone through the software and it all looks simple enough.

24.11.2017

Easy to use and I have found it essential for the Sigma 24-105mm as the settings vary a lot over the 24-105mm range, much more so than say,a prime or a short zoom when I have used the camera's micro focus adjustment.I used it with a Sony a99 and even found the settings to be useful when using the lens on my a77II.It can be a time consuming procedure but once it's done... comparing before and after makes it very worthwhile.

1.5.2017

Even though I have on just bought my sigma 150-600mm it has shipped with the old firmware so this allowed me to update it. It is plastic but seems quite robust and the pc install only took a couple of minutes from the sigma website . Programming the lens options is just a choice from three options for each of the 3 categories , I haven't tried the micro focus adjustment yet but it seems easy to do but long winded.
