I was getting tired of swapping drives in my laptop so bought one of these to be able to read / write to SATA drives through a USB dock instead. It's a USB 2.0 dock so is limited to 480MB/s. There are USB 3.0 docks available if matters to you. This cost me under £10 so I wasn't expecting much but I'm really glad I bought it.This fits 2.5" SATA drives. It comes with a Y lead to take power from two USB ports so you don't need an external power source. It works equally well under Linux or Windows mounting the drive as an external USB drive. The only problem I found so far is that the Intel SSD toolbox won't recognise / run on an SSD plugged into the dock.Apart from that it works just as I expected.

I used one of these to clone my MacBook's hard drive onto an SSHD for replacement. Using OS X Yosemite, the dock worked straight out of the box with minimal fuss and the transfer speed seemed pretty respectable. It's a fairly light object, and so are SSHDs, so having a flat surface which isn't going to be disturbed seems a good idea when using the dock - there's a little stand that twists round for lateral stability. The LEDs provide a useful visual reference as to whether or not your computer has finished when leaving it to get on with a large transfer. A bit more weight would be appreciated, but at the price, it seems like a great product.

I repair computers for a living, and have used this about two dozen times over the past two years, with 100% success. It sometimes feels like I have to push harder than I'd like to get the drive in, but I've gained confidence and haven't yet broken a drive nor the dock :)It has two USB plugs, and to be on the safe side I always connect both to the computer, even though (with my MacBook Pro at least) the drive will spin up with just one. This leads to a word of caution: to connect both plugs, you'll need two USB ports no more than about three inches apart. Many modern laptops don't have this. I guess an extension cable could be used though.

This I bought to transfer a NetTop data for a client. Performance is quite satisfactory, easy 'Plug & Play'. Just need two USB slots to make it work. Initially I was worried why it wasn't showing my Blank SATA Drive in My Computer. Then I found actually the blank Disk will not come in My Computer- need to partition that first using "Disk Management Extension". So- don't get scared if you don't see your new BLANK Disk in My Computer.Works well, no error so far, good data transfer rate- USB2.

Superb Value for money and works straight out of the box. If you are looking for an easy way to mount a drive, to either access data or transfer data from one drive to another. For a comparable price to this, you may get a wire, so I was thrilled when I found a dock for such a good price. This is simple to use, has worked every time and clearly very well made.Overall, if looking for a way to dock a hard disk, for value for money, you can't beat it....

I used this to clone the hard drive of my mac for the purpose of installing a new hard drive. Worked with out problems. It also has an excellent little stand on the bottom which, when turned perpendicular to the body of the dock, makes it very hard to knock over.Excellent product for a good price

Simple and it works! Comes with a UDB Y connector so you'll need two adjacent ports. Not as adaptable as other docks I've seen as this is restricted to 2.5" drives and I'm not sure it would be powerful enough to work if there were disk faults, which is when I tend to remove drives from my PCs.

Fast transfer, takes my hard drive to its maximum output of 180Mb/s. Well built and I like the on/off button on the top. The only downside is the length of the USB cable, it's a bit short especially if you have to plug it into the back of your computer.

What can you say, you slot a 2.5" drive into it, connect via USB to your PC and it works. My only slight concern was that the drive can be quite a tight fit, making you worried the first time you use it that you are using too much force.

Works perfectly...I'd definitely recommend getting a hard drive cradle as opposed to a cheap external case, they last a hell of a lot longer and are less prone to breaking if you treat them with care.

This is an excellent docking station, but only for 2.5" sata drives. It is very easy to install, plug and play.It is very small and portable, and I would recommend it to anyone.I am very pleased with it.

Does the job, doesn't seem to have any issues except possibly a shortish lead on it but then a lot of manufacturers seem to only give out a short USB lead with items anyway.

The product works really well and is useful if you need to read a hard drive quickly without putting it into a system, however it is quite expensive for what it does.

It is not very often an item that is fairly inexpensive works so wellbut this item most certainly does.5 Stars to Ballicom International for a brilliant service!

Such a small and useful piece of equipment. It's a bit light, yes, but for me that's been an advantage since I use it while travelling. Hence 5 stars.
