Paid a bit more to get a gigabit adapter to try to futureproof as much as possible. If you've got a USB 3 laptop or PC and a gigabit connection, why connect them together with a megabit adapter?! The name of this device should be 'StarTech USB 3.0 to RJ45 Ethernet LAN 10/100/1000 Network Adapter', not '10/100/100' as it's currently described. It does support gigabit networking.

Bought to use with my MS Surface Pro. Works perfectly although I might now go for the StarTech hub as I experiment using the surface pro as my main squeeze. Might need to add a USB keyboard as well as the network, and possibly a mouse if I can't adapt to the pen and touch methods.

I have purchased a couple of these in the past ( usb2) and I have had a few issues with reliability . This time I stumped up the extra cash on a more expensive option and its well worth it.,, great product.

Works just like it says on the packet. Just plug and play, no need to install anything. Super quick ethernet speed too

It works as expected on Dell XPS 13 developer edition, with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit.
