Let me explain my situation in one word...bachelor. In a few more words, single male living alone in his 30's with a passionate dislike for vacuuming but a love for cleanliness and tidiness.Roll back a few years and I'd be vacuuming religiously once a week with a classic corded Dyson, putting up with the day-to-day dust, crumbs, etc until a Sunday morning. Then I got a cat. Short of shaving the blooming thing (PETA please note, i did NOT shave my cat, and would not condone it!) I had no choice other than to up my vacuuming game to twice a week, at least in the areas she frequented most...ie. everywhere!A good few months back my approach to vacuuming changed upon purchasing a robot vacuum...see my other reviews on the Neato D5 Connected...it's BRILLIANT by the way!But...the main draw back is the fact it can't do stairs (like any vacuum) and I still found myself dragging Mr. Dyson from his dark cupboard, like Harry Potter being un-grounded, on a weekly basis to do the stairs and the hard-to-reach areas the robot could not go. I still resented vacuuming, albeit "Steve" the Neato relieved a lot of the pressure. The only other downside of Steve (short of scheduling in two cleans a day with him, which is probably excessive) is the cleaning up of the occasional mess, like crumbs, moths, flies, garden fodder.Enter Hoover Freedom FD22BCPET...this needs a better name. George. As in George Michael of Wham! fame "Freeeeedommmmmm".The Steve/George dream team has now banished Dyson to the deathly hallows for WEEKS at a time! Steve (the robot vac, for those who lost interest) does the daily whip round, and George (this Hoover) is whipped out at a moments notice to do the stairs and any extra bits needed. Dyson is only used for a 'deep clean' once every 3-4 weeks.So..what is this Hoover good at?Stairs!! Absolutely brilliant. Even a corded vacuum is a challenge to stretch the hose up the stairs, or operating from the top, thinks it's a suicidal slinky.Cobwebs! As a moments notice they're goneFrequent spruce ups - No bother un-holstering this bad boy to clear up, unlike having to carry the cumbersome Dyson, undo the cord, plug it in etc etc.Cat food. My cat seems to think she's a hamster and transports her biscuits to where she wants to eat, making crumbs not over the bowl, or sometimes leaves them. Steve doesn't like cat biscuits. Hoover does!Cat hair! I'm pleasantly surprised at how well this deals with cat hair, even in carpet. (Not sure why I'm surprised...it's called the "Pet" model!) Suction is great and easily picks up as much, if not more than the robot vac.Accessories. Extension pole is great when using on floors. Big and small powered heads for carpets and stairs are fab. Detail accessory is perfect for tight spaces and skirting boards, cobwebs etc. And a handy brush too for delicate surfaces.Weight. Nice and light. perfect for sustained use. Well balanced too :)Continuous on. Great feature in my opinion, pulling the trigger for 'up to 25 mins' can fatigue the fingersBattery Life. While it's claimed it's up to 25 mins, given my infrequent usage of this I have never had the battery run out...I'd say 10-15 mins of actually being switched on. I can imagine this 25 mins will be reduced when using the powered rollers. The Bad:Being critical here, the bin is a bit of a pain to empty with cat hair in it..the dyson simply falls out when you open the bin..this, it gets a bit stuck between the filter and the bin...a shake doesn't free it up. It's not jammed by any means, but gravity isn't strong enough. I simply use a pencil to swish around the bin gently to scoop it all out. Minor, minor negative. The Indifferent:Battery life - Depends on your lifestyle and usage. If cleaning a 4 bed top to bottom including all carpets etc I doubt 25 mins will be enough. But, in the way I use it, it's perfect.Suction - it's not going to pull a mcdonalds milkshake through a paper straw but level your expectations - i'm really impressed by how much suction this has!Build Quality - While a very sturdy unit, with the extension pole being detachable ad the press of a button, there is a small wobble/twist to it. It's very secure and sturdy but not 'perfect'. I'm okay with this given the fact it's fully interchangeable with ease.#Charging - Why didn't they add the charger to the dock? That would have been great if I could just dock it and away it goes, rather than having to plug it in. I know, this is particularly critical but these tiny attentions to detail make a huge difference.TL;DR:I can't compare to dyson handhelds but I am impressed with the suction on this little machine. At a fraction of the price of Dyson's I personally am super happy. It'll never replace a corded vacuum in my opinion for the 'deep' cleans, but it'll definitely reduce the time you're using your corded one! Suction is great, accessories are fab, and battery life is good for me :) Recommended.

I have a love hate relationship with vacuum cleaners, a wonderful invention but infuriating to use, if the cable does not get caught or tangled then the cleaner itself is sure to get stuck behind a door or some furniture, and if it can't manage that then it will just turn turtle on me. The cordless stick vacuum cleaner totally eliminates these aggravations, it is a pleasure to use! Remarkably lightweight (one of the lightest) and very maneuverable it is so easy to run it across open areas of around obstacles and under furniture, helped by the not overlarge head. The makers claim 25 minutes of use from a six hour charge, this is about average for a stick cleaner (some offer up to 40 mins use while others manage just 10 mins, and range from a two hour charge up to around 16 hrs). In practice the 25 minutes seems more than adequate for what it does, and the six hour charge is no problem unless you intend using it for several long session each day.The canister or bin holds 0.7 litres, which is quite good for such cleaners (which range from 0.3 to 1 litre), but it still means you are likely to be emptying several times in a 25 minute run, Emptying is easy although it does take a little encouragement to extract all the contents. As said, in use it is extremely easy, not just on both carpet and hard floors but being so light it is easy to point it up to ceilings etc to catch cobwebs. With long arm removed and the attachments fitted directly to the cleaner, stairs are a doddle, and it is ideal for cleaning the car.It comes with its dedicated wall mounted hanger which also provides storage for the attachments (this ideally needs to be located in reach of a power socket). The three massive screws provided are a bit overkill considering how light the cleaner is, whereas the bracket itself seems a little insubstantial. It's a pity the unit does not plug into the wall mount to make the connection for recharging, but instead it is necessary to connect a separate cable to recharge..While I absolutely love this cleaner with its hassle free use and ready accessibility on its wallmount, it can in practice serve only as a convenient way to do a quick clean. For there is one big drawback, the suction power is poor compared to a mains powered vacuum. It does well with is powered rotating brush head but with the crevice nozzle or the small brush head it is not good at lifting dust, which raises the question as to how much dirt it is really getting out of your carpet even with the rotating head. So for a thorough clean it means falling back on a mains powered cleaner. While not the most expensive stick cleaner it is still not cheap. Specification wise it compares very well with similar priced alternatives, and to be sure of getting better you may have to pay a lot more. But even with its not so good suction I am delighted with this, and can see it will be in use much more than a regular cleaner simply because it is so easy. Perhaps convenience wins over efficiency,

Wonderful, can't find anything serious to fault. It's not too heavy, and well balanced. Wife and I are very pleased! The parts click together easily and securely. The suction is quite good considering it's battery operated. Not as powerful as a mains unit, of course, but adequate. The motorised head makes up for this, by sweeping up dust, hairs etc out of carpets and into the tube.Emptying the dust-container is very simple and clean. As it's hand-held, it's quite a small capacity, so will need emptying after a couple of rooms - depending on how dirty, of course. But it's so easy, it's not a problem. All the parts are very well labelled - including filter, battery (it slides out and is replaceable!)The metal down-tube and plastic parts feel tough and well made. The colour is a darker red, closer to burgundy, it looks better than photos show. It's not too noisy (video makes it seem unbearable - it's not that bad).I don't think this fully replaces a mains corded vacuum cleaner. You would use a mains operated one for main cleans (say weekly) and the cordless for spills and perhaps areas that get dirty quickly, such as the hallway, where you might want to spruce it up frequently. The charger is tiny, and takes a long time to fully charge. The idea is that it's permanently on charge. It only runs for 25 minutes before needing recharging - but as above, you wouldn't use it that long anyway. It's perfect for five minute vacuuming jobs, where you can pick it up off its holder quickly and replace after use. For the main weekly clean, you would use a mains, corded vacuum.UPDATE - working well after three months, and gets used daily. We finally found out what the second "Open Bin" button's for - it's for removing the entire bin, rather than just the lid. We needed to do this as the inlet had got clogged with dust. When this happened, everything seemed to sound normal, but the bin was not filling. Removing the entire bin allowed the blockage to be removed. There was also a blockage the other side of the inlet to the bin - removing the tube from nearest the bin allowed that to be cleared. One blockage in three months, not bad! Still very, very pleased with it.

I bought this hoover not expecting much as the last battery vacuum cleaner I had lasted about a month, and was terrible from the start.I got to say this is a really good handy hoover. I read a lot of reviews and some say it’s not powerful enough but how can this be when it picks up everything I go over. I have used it a few times now and it gets full with stuff, so its definitely picking it up.Works on both my tiled and carpet floors. The battery has lasted every time I need it too. (hasn’t ran out on me yet)I have to point out that I am not using this as my main hoover. this is just to clean up after the kids. so for this reason I didn’t want to spend loads on this kind of hoover.I got fed up getting out my main hoover every time the kids made a mess. so it’s perfect for me.Would I use this or any battery hoover as a main hoover for my house, No. obviously a hoover that plugs in would work better and have much more suction.am I glad I bought this hoover over the more expensive ones on the market( you know the ones), 100% yes, I am so happy with this hoover.I have to admit that I did want to get a Dyson, but i think that’s what good marketing tells me I want. and I am such a sucker for good marketing. Seeing this pick everything up and knowing I spent £200 to £350 less than the ones I really wanted makes me happy. Some reviews said this Hoover is hard to move about! Seriously! I can’t see how they can say that, then again I haven’t used any of the other makes to compare. It’s a light hoover so I can’t see how it can be classed as hard to move. The only thing that would have been good to see on this hoover and is my only negative towards it is the way it charges. I wish you could clip it onto the wall mount and it charges, without having to plug the charging cable into it, once you hang it on the stand. I know other makes charge once you clip them on to their wall mounts. This is niggly but not a deal breaker for me.

So I'm someone that has always hated vacuuming. I'm still don't like doing it but this hoover has made it much easier to do so. I hated having to drag out the big wired hoover and lug it around and have the wire sticking under the door and just how cumbersome it was. I always ended up with a sore back afterwards, especially after doing the stairs.Using this bad boy has changed that. It isn't a hassle to drag out from under the stairs, isn't cumbersome to lug about (especially on the stairs) and obviously wires don't get caught in places. Using the short attachment with brush to do the stairs meant no bending over going up stairs and balancing the big hoover at the same time,it was just so much easier to use and did a great job. My utter hatred for vacuuming has been reduced to a dislike because this hoover makes doing it a lot easier and less painful to do.As for how it performs, my stairs and upstairs carpeting is quite heavy, woolly kind of stuff and things like a bit of fluff coming off socks or stuff like that which gets walked in can be difficult to lift and this actually deals with that quite well. There will be occasions where I'll have to pull that bit off the carpet by hand and then hoover it up but I found I had to do that sometimes with my larger wired hoover. That part for me was going to be the acid test for this hoover as I have read many reviews of this kind of hoover that says suction isn't great. Well for me and my carpet which whilst nice is a nightmare to vacuum at times, this performed as well as any other wired hoover I've had. On hard floors like wood or tiles it works great as they all mostly do but I'd have no problem recommending this to anyone. It helps that I got it on sale on Boxing Day for £89.99 so if you're lucky enough to find it on sale and are considering I'd say go for it and at least give it a try.

This is Hoover's latest take on the cordless vacuum with echoes of a famous cyclone technology brand's version with the business and collecting bin in the handle, and it's a pretty good piece of kit, works well on both hard and carpeted floors, handy for hard to reach and manoeuvre areas, stairs and valet your car but the limited run time of 25 minutes on a full charge is not enough for a medium-large home.We are lucky to have a reasonably roomy house and 25 minutes is not enough to get around our home with the Hoover, certainly not for a good or deep clean. As such it will not replace our corded vacuum cleaner for a proper clean but this is indispensable for the stairs AND on a daily basisbecause it is better than a broom or dustpan and brush for a quick djuzz to tidy up the daily sprinkles of crumbs, dust, hairs etc that accumulate especially with two very young children.I especially like the 2-in-1 attachment that is fab for dusting in corners, skirting and coving, easier than using a tickle-stick duster especially living in the country with tenacious spiders. The upholstery or mini turbo head is great for stairs and tackles stubborn dog hairs with ease as does the longer fixture we have two short haired dogs and three long haired female humans and a toddler whose hair is on its way to match so there's a lot of long blonde hairs in the rotating brushes of our vacuum tools... What's great about the upright tool is that you can pop the brush out and untangle/snip the hairs and replace easily which is fabulous.Overall we really like this Hoover it's a fab way to speed up the daily cleaning and tackle some chores difficult with a regular vacuum, it's not going to work for us as the only vacuum but would be for a much smaller home and is certainly light enough for an older person or with lesser mobility issues.

I don't ever write reviews, but I thought my views below would be most helpful!Carpets:I am really pleased with this hoover and use it all the time... BUT I would say it is pretty rubbish for carpets when you use it normally (my entire house is cream carpeted), however I find it is much much much more effective when you use your other hand to push down on the tube, this puts weight on the brush bar at the bottom and it makes a huge difference, it sweeps everything up!! I am 26 and fairly fit so I'm happy to do this as I go around the whole house (you have to bend over to apply the weight on the tube), but I do find my back aches a little after this so an older person wouldn't want to do this.If I don't vacuum in this way I find it rubbish and would probably not use it!No matter what I do, I still find that I have to go over the same spot a few times for some more stubborn bits on the carpet, but as it is so light it is still quick and easy to do this.Hard Floors:It's very good on hard floors (kitchen and hallway), no real issues there apart from larger pieces like dry cat food - I find I have to place the brush bar on top of these bigger pieces rather than push it over for it to suck up.Conclusion:Overall, when using the Hoover in the way I do, I'd say it is great... it will never be as good as a normal plug in vacuum, so I keep ours for deep cleans, but it does a good enough job for this to be a rare occurrence. Also it's great for cleaning the car and stairs and any tough to reach crevices. Use it the way I do: 10/10. Use it the way it is supposed to be used: 6/10.

I have been using the Hoover Freedom for the past few months around my house, and have been pleasantly surprised with how well it has performed. The unit is light which makes it easy to carry up and down stairs and get into smaller spaces. Especially when compared to my much larger corded vacuum! The suction is good for a cordless battery powered vacuum and can take on most cleaning tasks without forcing me to reach for the larger, corded alternative. However I have come across some issues. Firstly, the rollers easily get clogged up with hairs causing them to stop operating until the hairs are manually removed. On average I find it needs clearing after every use. On the plus side this is easy to do,and the instruction manual shows you how to do this quite clearly. Also the battery doesn't quite last the claimed 25 minutes. More like 20 minutes. For me, that's still more than enough time.Overall I still think this is a great product. The small form factor allows it to be stowed away neatly in a utility cupboard, taking up very little space. It recharges quickly and I have not seen any deterioration in battery capacity over my months of frequently using it. The turquoise colour looks quite nice, too. Some minor assembly is needed from the box, but this is easy to complete with a clear pictorial guide for assistance. I would estimate it took me around 10 minutes before I was testing it out in the lounge. All round I truly believe this is a great product, and I would not hesitate to buy one myself. Great job, Hoover.

Mine just arrived. I got it for £44 second hand - Very Good - from Amazon. It looked like new. Tried it out from the box and it lasted about 5 minutes then cut out so I charged it about 2-3 hours and just gave the flat a once over. It's awesome - quite powerful and about ten minutes using the carpet attachment it had filled up with dust and fluff. Not any competition for the Dyson ball vacuum I already have but seems to work very well and much easier to use. It's actually for use on my boat, for which it will be perfect, once I have found a smaller non powered brush head to use with it. I'm sure a Dyson version will be completely mind blowing, but with a price tag to match. Can't complain for under £45!UPDATE 31 January 2019: Its working well - almost perfect for a boat. It picks up dust, dried mud and small bits well, not so good for hairs, which tend to get wrapped round the beater brush and have to be cut off. Larger bits of grit don't make it up the tube, but I upend it while its still running and they fall into the collection chamber. It can be charged during the day when the solar panels are operating and doesnt suck the life out of the boat batteries. Its a little hard to empty as the dust gets stuck in the chamber but I'll make a little hook to help with that. Together with the Gtech Ram I already have I think I'm covered for most things. I'll keep the Karcher wet and dry vac for bigger jobs like spills or cleaning out bilges.

This vacuum cleaner is ideal for anyone living in a flat or small house. It is small and unbulky and is extremely flexible in that the handle swivels in 360 degrees so it can go into and under small areas. Upon opening the box, assembly looked a daunting task but much was packaging and accessories and, in fact, assembly was a simple matter of clipping the three main components together. The motor unit detaches to make an effective handheld cleaner so you don’t have to buy a separate one, unlike with some cleaners. I currently have a Gtech Air Ram and am pleased with that but I will continue to use this Hoover cleaner as it is lighter and more flexible to move around the place. It comes with the usual range of attachments that you find with most vacuum cleaners. After using it, I was amazed at how much dirt it picked up (and I vacuum regularly). One sweep around the house and I had to empty it, OK, it is not a big collection space but about the same as the Gtech, which usually lasts 3- 4 goes before emptying. If I have one gripe it is that the charge doesn’t last long. The intructions advise running the battery right down before recharging so you can’t just top up the charge after each use. This means that you will probably be half way through hoovering when the battery goes flat with a 6 hour recharge before you can start again. Other than that, I can recommend it.

I was very pleased with this Hoover vacuum. The turquoise and black made it very stylish and being only of a moderate weight makes it ideal for elderly and/or disabled people like myself. Living in a bungalow, the run time for this cleaner was more than adequate and so also makes it ideal for people living in flats. With no stairs, I don't need to comment how practical this cleaner was and so will leave that to other reviewers. For a quick clean, this cleaner handled carpets, rugs and laminate flooring with extreme ease although I shall probably use a mains cleaner on the carpet every so often just to shift those stubborn particles. The cleaner easily picked up crumbs, other small debris and even particles of cat grit, which my other battery cleaner has difficulty with so this was a bonus. Using an attachment, I was easily able to vacuum up balls of cat fur which collect in the corners of the room and along the skirting boards, so I was very pleased with that. I also like the fact that the brush can be detached from the housing so that hairs and threads can be untangled and disposed of and the dirt collector container is easily removed for emptying.I could find absolutely no fault with this cleaner, hence the five stars, and consider it good value for the money.

Compared to Dysons products this was priced as the poor mans answer to their cordless Vac. A third of the price. I have a good quality (Vax) upright corded Vac so I took a risk. (Not slagging Vax. Mines lift the carpets off the floor but its cumbersome) I wanted something for a quick vac of the house but more importantly for the two cars. On arrival product looked good. But I've tried dust busters and the like before and when I held my hand under the suction I was so disappointed. However when used this cordless vac is awesome. It picked up everything and can need emptied often. You attach the plastic "station" on a wall out of sight. You store and attach the power cable to charge it whilst its there.Mines is in a built in wardrobe hidden by clothes. Now I can do my stairs in the house and have it safely packed away in 5 mins. As for the cars its incredible. 15 mins and its done. I used to set up the corded vac once a week. Plugging it in at the top of the stairs then plugging it in at the bottom. Now I use it every day. In fact as soon as I see something on the stairs this vac is deployed. No idea how long this product will last but in the meantime as a bloke I am in vac heaven.

The reviews I read were a bit of a mixed bunch but for me this is simply a great piece of kit. Its now hanging on the provided wall mounting nicely hidden away under my stairs in a cupboard, and charging. It does an absolutely brilliant job and is so light and easy to use.The instructions (Pictorial) are clear and the ease of operation and cleaning the unit are pretty straightforward. Now due to hair on carpets my house was in need of a good vacuum and this did not disappoint although I had to 'defluff' the head after as it had done such a great job.....the instructions for this were clear to in picture form.At a quarter of the price of some well known brands I cannot believe they could be four times better. This unit is so light and easy to use that vacuuming is actually fun as well as being quick.True battery usage is relatively short and charging time a little long but I did a three bedroom house top to bottom including stairs in 10 minutes so no problem for me but could be one if you live in a mansion. The suction for a cordless was brilliant, much better than I tought having always gone for corded units before now.All in all great value.

Love this! This is a powerful little hand held cleaner - perfect for small areas and especially carpeted floors. It comes neatly packaged, and is simple to put together. I really liked the added attachments - perfect for nooks and crannies, stairs and other tricky places..Once assembled, it's a case of switch on and go. There's no real variance in power, just different heads for different areas. I appreciated this on my carpets, as I found it a challenge to get pushing the vacuum head at first and needed to change the head. It's very powerful - lifted the carpet up in places so I'd not recommend using it on or near rugs! The power cable attaches easily and charges quickly, which I like very much. What niggles me though is the pet hair turbo rotator brush head - it's fixed without a swivel joint so it's hard to manoeuvre. At certain angles, it's frustrating! The main vacuum head is swivel jointed and this makes movement easier. But it's got no rotator brush so not as efficient. It's loud, and there's no getting around that. But it is light, powerful and really does the job, is nimble and efficient, and so I think it is great value for money.

I am in domestic bliss - no low flying piece of furniture is safe because this cleaner reaches underneath almost anywhere. There are no cobwebs above, no crumbs below, the stairs are the cleanest they’ve ever been and there is nothing heavy or daunting about swishing this light little magic wand aroundIt can be charged up while being stored and I can do all of my large house on one charge. The suction is quite surprising because the Freedom glides around and doesn’t feel as though its dragging with suction power, but when you look and see how much detritus it picks up out of carpets you’ll be delighted and ashamed at the same time.If there is a downside,it would be nice to be able to buy an add on toolkit with extra multi purpose cleaning heads for curtains and light fittings and a hanging hook, but you don't seem to be able to do that. I had a look on the Hoover website and it appears you have to buy one of the other models if you want those extras rather than being able to pick them up later. However, all in all, this is the best cleaner bar none that I have ever had, absolutely in love with it.
