I love Irish Whisky and had never tried this. After reading all the reviews, i have been so looking forward to trying it. I've given it 4 stars as i thought it was very nice. But i thnk my expectations were too high.I will say that this is quite possibly the smoothest Whisky i have ever tasted. It practically wraps itself in velvet pyjamas before sliding down ones throat. It's sweet and light and very easy to drink, with a lack of afterburn that even the most famous of malts cannot boast. My problem was that, for me, Green Spot lacked character and depth. There was little to the overall flavour, when compared to many other mianstream malts that i have tried over the past year. Don't get me wrong, they could all learn a lot from that sweetness and smoothness here. But it was so close to being the best in all but the most important factor, i felt a little disappointed.I appreciate that this is all personal taste and i am not an expert. I can only judge by my own tasets and experiences, and i really wanted to like this a lot.

Not knowing a great deal about Irish whisky I decided to try the Green Spot after reading a few reviews, and to be honest wasn’t expecting too much due to the price being at the lower end of what you would pay for a decent Scottish single malt.Best way to describe this whisky is by using two movies: Good Will Hunting (How’d you like them apples?) & Oliver Twist (please sir can I have some more?)Wow and Wow, Single ‘Pot Still’ Irish Whisky has blown me away ....Nose/Taste/Finish ... imagine the best fresh crisp orchard aroama with a toffee creamy smooth taste with a hint of spice. It’s so well balanced it’s very satisfying but will have you saying ok just one more.No water, no ice,no special requirements, just pour, inhale the beautiful smell and enjoy.

This review is based solely on my reading of 20-30 reviews of this rare fine whiskey. It was bought for my Dad's 70th Birthday; a man whom knows and appreciates his whiskeys. Why review without tasting? I will taste it in a few weeks, but i was struck by two things. 1. Most reviewers absolutely loved this rare 7-9 year old (6000 bottles made per year has been standard) fine Single Malt (though made also with unmalted barley, so not strictly a single malt). The fact that Amazon have managed to source this stunning rare (don't take my word for it, read up for yourself!) fine spirit is yet another feather in Amazon's cap. If you have any doubts, read the online reviews.I can't wait to try it (my dad's promised me a dram-). A great gift. Happy 70th Birthday Dad!

I have purchased several bottles of Green Spot in the last year and a half as gifts for my father and father in law.Having heard about Green Spot, from an American guest at a wedding who never goes back to the US without some, I thought it would make a great gift for my father as he would be a bit of a whiskey connoisseur. Regular off license's do not stock this so Amazon was my first port of call and promptly purchased a couple of bottles. My father was pleased with his present and even more pleased after sampling some Green Spot, being a Jameson drinker normally I was dubious about the outcome of the taste test, but he has since asked me to order more.My father in law also was very pleased and I would recommend as a gift to any whiskey drinker.

This is the first Irish I tried, as I'm normally a scotch person. I was hesitant to pay £35 for it with all the great scotch you can get for that and less, and also hesitant about having no age statement. Gladly, I can tell you it's worth it, even though it has no age statement, the whiskey in this blend is aged 7-10 years I found out. There's no hint of young spikyness just a lovely nonaggressive, sweet whiskey. The flavours you get will be sweet apple, a hint of biscuit, some calm spice as well. It's a very drinkable whiskey, and a great one to introduce people to whiskey for the first time. By no means however is this a simple and boring whiskey, it's just very well rounded.

Very nice Irish whiskey, probably close to the archetype that cheaper brands would like to emulate. Not as sweet as some Irish whiskeys and full of flavour. But the price is just too much for me to justify buying Green Spot again even when it's on offer. When you look at the single malts that you can get for less than this I can't thoil repeatedly spending so much on a blend, no matter how nice an example of a blend it is. Definitely worth trying a bottle if you like Irish whiskey though.

It smells young, I think it's 6/7 yrs, fruity - apricots, but it could be apples or pears - has obviously used ex-Bourbon casks, sweet, creamy.Tastes very smooth and thick mouthfeel - it really fills the mouth. Sweet, flowery, toffee, fudgy, vanilla, creamFinish is continuation of above. Later sips reveal a longer finish of lingering apple crumble which has been spiced with cloves and cinnamon and covered with well vanillered custard.Great. Good value.

Not as similar to redbreast 12 as some people would suggest. This doesn't have the same lingering aftertaste that warms your whole mouth. However, fantastic bottle of irish whiskey that everyone will enjoy. Nice gold colour that's crystal clear. Bottle pours very well and comes in a nice box. Will be buying another one of these when this is finished! Highly recommend you try this out if you enjoy redbreast, but don't expect it to be the same.

This whiskey was recommended to me by a friend. The brand was prevoiusly unknown to me, however in for a penny in for a glass or three after having sourced a bottle via Amazon. It proved to be a very smooth and enjoyable tipple and is much to be recommended if you enjoy Irish whiskey neat. The only problem is that the bottle seems to empty rather quickly and will require replacing rather too frequently. I suspect a design fault in the bottle!!

A superb whiskey, very smooth, great pot still flavours, sweet/ spicy, glides down the throat, and good value for the price. If you're patient you can get it for under £30, well worth the wait. It's not as good as the Yellow Spot, but not far off. I wish I could compare it to the others ( Chateau Leoville/Montelena, Red Spot), maybe soon.I'd sooner drink this than any Scotch in a similar price range to be honest. You won't be disappointed.

I love Scottish malts but it's taken a long time to start appreciating Irish whiskey ! Started with Jamiesons and found it a veryeasy drinker then my wife bought Green Spot for my birthday . Well it's gorgeous stuff and very moreish , I now plan to tryas many Irish as can .I would highly recommend this whiskey at this price.

I'm not a Whiskey expert but I loved this. So did my neighbour who I gave the bottle to. I had a glass when he opened it and left the rest to him - it was gone in a few days. Why did i like it - this Whiskey is smoothness personified. maybe not to everyone's taste but perfect for me.Will definitely try again.

Whilst not as sophisticated a flavour as its big brother, Yellow Spot, this is an extremely drinkable whiskey at a very accessible price point. If you like Irish Whiskey, you'll like this. It's a very smooth dram that will sit nicely in any drinks collection. We drank our bottle in a mere three weeks!

For me, this is second only to Blue spot. The fragrant green apple notes really set this apart from any other Irish whiskey I've ever tasted.Superb taste and at this price point, an excellent high quality whiskey that's within reach for anyone.A real easy sipper, and a great one at that.

This whiskey really hits the spot! Definitely get an apple taste coming through, it's very smooth and easy to drink as Irish whiskies tend to be in my experience. Many compare this to redbreast 12 and in my opinion this one is the tastier whiskey. Both would get a 5 from me though.
