Firstly, great service from Very! After receiving, I thought I would be quickly bored with it after the novelty had worn off and because it at first sight seems a bit limited in what it can do (funnily though google can get upset and annoyed if it's unable to carry out your repeated requests) .. but no, having found more details online on how to increase its functionality eg play specific youtube songs/artist, audiobooks, and any number of functions to control lights/plugs and even send text messages or leave tweets, all without having to pay for premium services. One can play games, it will tell you jokes, time, weather, any number of questions ..One thing to be aware of is that all of your google home activity is saved/logged and it is wise to delete often from your activity account settings in the google home app, to mute when not in use and even unplug it if you're worried about it snooping. If you use the US English setting google home can answer consecutive questions etc without having to say hey google each time (hey booboo and similar work too). The sound is relatively loud, it has a lot of bass and the overall sound levels can be set by either saying eg 10% or level 1. There is an equaliser of sorts in the google home app but in truth it doesnt make a lot of difference. If you have a newer model of tv one can 'cast' youtube videos to the tv etc , if your telly is not internet / bluetooth ready it needs the additional chromecast (to be fair one could do this without a google home but it does make it a lot easier). The google home can be used as a bluetooth speaker, it can 'cast' to other bluetooth speakers (but it wont play itself). One can group more than one google home -- and if you have an old style of 'hi-fi' you could use a bluetooth receiver to enable google home to cast music to it (one can do this from any phone/laptop/tablet too). I couldn't be happier, because it is more fun / useful than I had thought it would be.

I found Google Assistant to be slightly better than Amazon Alexa (I have both). Amazon Alexa has more compatibility, true, but most of those are the ones no one uses ever. The main ones, Hue, TPLink, Samsung Things, Logitech Harmony, Spotify, Netflix, Nest etc.. Where Google does things MUCH better than Amazon, is when it comes to ask random questions (who is the president of.., what's the weather in paris today,...) or when you want to know how long it will take you to drive to a certain location (how long will it take me to go to [location or post code]?). This, Amazon no can do! Google uses its own amazing services such as Google Maps to tell you everything you need to know (accidents, traffic etc...). As Google has its now search engine, it also answers questions in a much better way than Amazon will ever do. Also, the customization is much better. For instance, you can assign shortcuts to render questions more human-like and you can change keywords. For instance, if I want to set my Nest Thermostat to 32°C with Amazon, I have to say "Alexa, tell Nest to set thermostat to 32°C". Not great, right? But with Google, I can say "Set thermostat to 32°C" and that's it. I don't need to tell the assistant to contact a specific app first. That's because I can totally change the way I ask a question and assign it to a particular action. For example, with Google I could even say "feed the dog when it's 32°C" and it would set thermostat to 32°C. I can say whatever I want by creating a "shortcut". Amazon can't do that and it's a shame. Plus, Google is newer than Alexa so it's normal that some things are not available yet (such as Uber unfortunately). I can order a Uber from Alexa but not yet from Google as it is available only in the US for now. But in a few weeks, all of these missing functions will be implemented in the UK also.

Whilst the quality of the speaker is great, Google is still working on the software. I use Chromecast and Google Home to control the TV. It works fantastic on TV. You can ask it to increase/decrease volume, play anything specific on Netflix, or skip the intro and so on. It is quite decent for at least playing the TV. What you can't do is play something on TV and use Google Home as speakers. You may need this if you are using a monitor. Also, it won't work with Amazon prime. For Q&A, as you may imagine. Google is quite good too. It answers most of the basic questions. For weather and news, I use it once a day to know the headlines (just the US news as it won't play the UK news)and to know the temperature and rain forecast. For music, it sucks! It will only play Spotify and Google premium. I use other apps such as Amazon Music and Gaana but they won't work. Sometimes, Google Home behaves funny- it will automatically speak random stuff and will keep on forgetting or mixing up things that I have had asked Google Home to remember.

I was bought a google home mini as a present . I got to like it for various reasons. I then purchased the google home hub for the kitchen liked that too. I thought I might as well complete the trio with the google home. Absolutely brilliant. sound quality is the best of the three. Would recommend especially if you like music. The sound is superb, Its a lot richer than the mini and the hub. You can also ask it Questions which it will answer. You can have fun with it ask it to tell you a joke usually corny but fun. If you say to it thankyou google it will say something like you are welcome. You can use it as an alarm and various other things .Easy to set up all you need is an android telephone and an internet connection.I listen to music all day on it sound is great

What a brilliant piece of kit, easy to set up and use. I was looking out for a bluetooth speaker for my laptop music streaming and this certainly fits the bill, brilliant bass sound and quality with no vibration and I have never had it above half volume for nearby listening. But that's only part of it ask Google for the news, weather, jokes, quiz, translation, alarm clock, shopping list, currency exchange just to mention a few and not forgetting accessing a smart home appliances suitable adapted. With one wire to mains supply it sits on the corner of the desk and looks really smart with voice activation or finger tip volume and pause control on the top of the unit. Connects to a Google account on laptops, mobiles and tablets via casting.

Very smart looking unit. easy to set up with the 'google home' 'app'. integrates very well with my chromecast hdmi dongle and my chrome cast audio dongle."hey google play 'album name' on 'lounge'" or "... on 'kitchen'" - it's like living in the future. My next set of home electrics (lights, thermostats etc) will have to be 'home' compatible.getting better all the time as it integrates with your google services. To maximise the benefits, I would say you need to be a keen google user and have "taken the google shilling".I might get another one to sit on the landing so I can here my music better in the bathroom!google play video and youtube need to be better integrated.hence 4/5 - it's not 5/5 yet.

Lots of fun to be had asking questions, setting up play lists etc. We use it mostly for radio, it's really handy to find unusual stations on line. Two minor quibbles, it won't search for answers the way conventional Google will so you have to be very specific, also I set up voice recognition but it refuses to recognise me so I've found the easiest way to use it is to do a Michael Jackson impersonation, much to my wife's amusement! Other than that the sound quality is very good for such a small item and we're very pleased we went for it. Btw I'm 59 and my wife is 55 but we're not in to all of the latest tech so if we can set this up and enjoy it anyone can!

Google have really done their homework here. I've had a go at Apple / Amazon offerings and whilst they work, this is just more complete. Answers most questions and requests and saying Ok Google Play my Rock Mix to get the tunes going is great. Volume / Skip / Rewind all works on voice and if it is playing a song you don't recognise you can as Google what it is & add it to a library which can be synced to your phone or tablet.Great for asking quick questions or to read out recipes as well, you can say Next Ingredient and do it step by step, no need to look at a screen.I bought it out of interest as it was reduced in a sale but I'm so glad I did.

My son bought this for me for Christmas. We have had great fun testing its knowledge and playing games with it. It understands speech very well and we are in the process of linking it some of the things in the house that are compatible. Some of the features are not available in the UK yet, but I understand they will be in the future. It looks smart and unobtrusive. You can buy plugs to plug non compatible things which means you dont need to necessarily have up to date audio / visual to be able to use it with. I researched this before deciding whether to have Google Home or the competitor and I remain convinced it was the right decision.

I have used Google voice for years so I thought I would take the next step and make my home a smart home. The device is amazing and very intelligent, I can ask it to remind me of things days away or remember to call someone at a set time. Weather, news, jokes, information, I just need to say, Hey Google and that's it is ready to help. You can stream music around your home and move it from room to room. If you have smart bulbs and forget to turn the lights off, no problem, Google can do it for you. Best feature is it recognises each persons voice, so each experience is unique to each user. Will worth the money.

Do away with typing/searching with Google Home, makes a difference using voice and saves some considerable time on many of the tasks that you can do with Google Home. Many benefits like reminders, to-do list, questions, directions, weather updates plus stream music (Spotify or Google Play). Can have some fun throughout your journey of learning more about Google Home. Great speech recognition, no need to reduce to clear your speech up and on most occasions provided the results you'd expect.Google Home is evolving all the time so don't worry if some actions can't be completed as it'll be available in the near future.

This little assistant/speaker is a great fun gadget to have around the home and for it's size has very good sound quality. I have yet to unlock it's full potencial as I don't have any other smart home gadgets to link with it, but it is great for information like weather, traffic knowlege etc and if you have a music subscription it can play you almost any song you want. My only little critisism I with it is that it would be nice to have a line out socket to link with other audio equipment and the option to be able to control the unit from a PC and not just a smart phone.

Really wish i had got 1 of these before now. When compared to the amazon dot i think this comes out head and shoulders above. Sound quality is amazing and after a lot and i mean a lot of testing it with every question under the sun that i could think of it still had me beat. Its nice and compact yet gives out so much. 1 comment said to me was it cant make the coffee but after getting a smart plug it proved that it could so now looking for every smart device i can get. The only negative about this product is i have yet to find any thig negative about it.

Excellent product very handy the speaker sound seems very good quality better than I thought it would be I use it to turn my lights on and off and my TV and to play music IV got three Google home speakers this big one and two mini nests well worth the money I think Google assistant is better than Alexa the assistant is very responsive and seems to understand most things you can ask the assistant to turn the volume up or down as well it's very easy to set up very quick just using the Google home app on your phone so yes I'm very happy with it so far.
