I needed some speakers that could be installed near a pool and really didn't want to spend a heckuva lot. I saw these and figured I couldn't go wrong for the price. As usual when Amazon ships UPS these arrived on time and in great shape (I wish I could say the same for when they ship things USPS, but I digress. Anyway, I unpacked these and they were a little smaller than I expected but seemed pretty solid. Some folks on here have complained about the thumbscrews that come with the speakers to attach to the brackets. Now sure if they've updated the accessories or if people are just neglected to install the pads that come with the bracket, but the thumbscrews were fine.I hooked this up with the supplied speaker wire just to try them out. I attached the speakers to a Lepai amplifier. They sounded just fine, which given that this meant I had spend under $40 and had a stereo next to my pool that sounded just fine was amazing. I've seen some folks complaining about the grid rusting, which it very well might sometime down the road, but for what I paid, that's not the end of the world - a little white paint will fix that. You could spend significantly more on speakers and probably not improve that dramatically on the sound, particularly since we are talking about speakers that are going to be next to a space where people are likely to splashing about. Concert hall sound? No. Loud enough to hear when you're splashing about and chatting in the pool? Yes. Tinny? A bit, but not too bad all things consider.

I have another pair of similar speakers in this price range (Dual Electronics LU43PB). These here are rated for a wider frequency range according to the specs'. Frankly they don't really sound much different than the Duals, and I've had both running from a few different amps to test them. I guess I would prefer THESE if I had to choose, because of the more compact size--and the high end MIGHT be a bit cleaner. I'd prefer the Duals for a satellite system w/a sub. I mounted them near the ceiling above a door on a semi-enclosed porch. They're about as perfect an example of what I was looking for as possible. Small, quality, very inexpensive, and they certainly sound bigger than they look. The brackets DO seem to be holding them, but they're made of plastic and I was careful while mounting not to screw them in too tight as to crack the bracket. The brackets for the Duals are metal and I think these should've been as well. If you're really mounting them on a boat or near salt water that would make sense though; why you may not want metal brackets. Once again, as I felt about those Dual speakers I got, I couldn't expect anything better at this price. EXACTLY what I needed; perfect size, sound great running an mp3 player through a stereo mini-amp. I'm totally satisfied.~JSV

I am no audiophile, but I do really like music and have decent ears for it. My son is constantly running our bluetooth speakers down in battery and not charging them. And let's be honest, most of those have to be turned up way too loud to hear them well, distorting the sound. I bought these speakers and this bluetooth receiver/amp https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QY68JQY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with the intention of putting the amp in a weatherproof box on the side of my house out on the patio and the speakers on the eave. The speakers showed up quite promptly, but as the amp board was taking an ice age to show up, I just placed the box with the speakers on my work bench in my garage. The amp showed today and I hooked it all up at my desk just to hear what they would sound like together. (I have a different board driving old surround speakers in the garage and the sound leaves much to be desired). Not only was I surprised by the sound quality of these speakers, but they handled a good amount of volume without distorting the sound. I believe I will be ordering more to replace the existing in the garage. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone looking for a good sounding set of outdoor speakers to solve a similar issue as mine.

Let's be honest, you aren't considering these if you are a sound aficionado, and/or want bass. I wanted something simple and cheap to mount in my Polaris Ranger 570 and these were just the ticket. The only downside I see is that, like others have noted, the mounting brackets are questionable. they are plastic. Sort of thick plastic though so I don't know how they will hold up for my application.. To be on the safe side, I just added a couple of large washers to reduce and better distribute the strain on the mounting bolt slots. I am confident that this should help prevent them breaking, but if they do, I will just bend a piece of scrap steel in a U-shape and replace the factory brackets. No big deal, but again, if there is an area of concern, this would be it. As for sound quality, they are actually better than I expected. Not a lot of bass obviously, but I didn't care about that. Otherwise the sound is clear and I can crank up the volume more than I need and still sound fine. Just wanted to be able to listen to the radio in my Ranger and these will do the trick nicely I think! And at a ridiculously low price IMO. Like I said, have the right expectations and I think you will be well pleased as well!

My grandkids and I love music and we play our favorite MP3 oldies when they are helping me with projects in my shop. However, whenever we ventured out on the property in the golf cart to work in the garden, tend to my dwarf goats, prune trees, etc., the music has been missing. I found a mini-receiver / amplifier for the cart but could not find suitable speakers. Most were too big and bulky, and there is limited space on any golf cart. I saw the reviews on these outdoor Pyle units, along with the compact size, and decided to give them a try. I have found them to be perfect for my application. I tried them on the bench first, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. I found that, in spite of their size, they have great range with clear music reproduction. I mounted them on the overhead rear canopy bar in my cart, and they are working out very well. They are hardly noticeable, but provide great sounds when we are working outside. Whenever the grandkids and I begin a project I always ask them, "What's the first thing we need before starting anything?" The always answer in unison, "Tunes!" We now have tunes on the go, and we are all enjoying them immensely, with these great units from Pyle.

These are amazing for the price... They sound like they are worth at least double...I'm only running a 45w per channel amp but they are so loud and they have really decent reproduction and rich bass for such little things..They are very plasticy and feel somewhat cheaply made but how often do you fondle your speakers! The bracket is also plastic but the threads in the speaker for the thumb screws are metal which is a nice touch on something this cheap. They also come with two decent lengths of speaker wire and nuts and bolts for mounting though i wanted self tapping wood screws so I used my own.As a side note it would have been nice to have some kind of anti theft screw rather than a tool freerelease on something that's going to be outside all the time but can't really fault them at this price and if they do walk away they are cheap enough to replace.Over all I highly recommend these to anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot and wants to have background music in their back yard...They won't compare to higher end larger units and i probably wouldn't use them in my HIFI system but they aren't meant to and are an excellent value.

For the money, these speakers do a great job. They feel solidly made and are easy to mount. At only slightly bigger than a pair of desktop speakers for a PC, they're also pretty compact and will fit discreetly in most locations. The sound they produce is adequate for outdoors where there's lots of ambient noise and you don't need to hear the finer detail of your music. They're also reasonably loud for their diminutive size - we haven't cranked them anywhere close to maximum out of consideration for the neighbours but they do a great job of playing music during a BBQ etc. They've lasted several weeks outdcoors so far in a reasonably exposed, south-facing location. There hasn't been any rain to speak of but the sun has been pretty harsh and they still sound good. I have high hopes that they will make it through the winter (although I will probably take them down come Autumn and put them in the shed as we won't be using them thorugh the winter). If you're looking for a cheap solution to piping music to an outdoor location these are a better choice than I had expected - highly recommended.

These speakers are ok, to tell the truth. Nothing fancy at all... but then again, I wasn't expecting fancy. The pictures, descriptions and other reviews describe them well. But they're reasonably attractive speakers... smaller than I imagined (though I read the dimensions). Construction seems to be some composite of metal and plastic, which may make sense for outdoor application. However, I am using them indoors in my store room, so will have to see how they hold up. They are certainly of inferior construction to other similarly sized off brand speakers, e.g. Acoustic Audio, which I've tried, as well. The speakers are extremely easy to install with the included mounting brackets. But even there,I'd still be careful, since everything appears fairly flimsy. In terms of the sound, which is the main thing to be concerned about - again, they sound alright in my application - as surrounds in my store room. I can't see them being mains in any application unless a separate subwoofer is used.In summary, you'll get what you pay for. The speakers are cheap! Don't expect anything more.

Pleasant surprise here. My summer project was refurbing a boat. Replaced the stereo, replaced the built-in speakers. And thought "I bet it could be even louder with more speakers".But they had to be waterproof (again - "boat") speakers. These looked too good to be true. Small, waterproof package. They looked rugged enough. And they advertised 200 Watts of power.Point/click/order.BAM! They arrived on time. Perfect, brand-new speakers. When I plugged them in, THEY ROCKED! (And when I cranked them up, the ROCKED LOUDER!).My challenge was how to install them on a boat, without causing a hazard, and without messing up the way the boat cover fits. Solution! Velcro! Big, heavy Velcro pads on the rear (stern)of the boat and on each speaker. Now I can zoom out (with sleek lines and a cool boat). And I can slap down the speakers (Velcro!) and angle them inward to the boat or OUTWARD TO THE SWIMMERS! Brilliant! Now we have great, vibrant tunes, built in to the boat, and jamming while we are relaxing in the South Texas summer.Great product! Great sound! We be jammin!JDMc

A pair of weatherproof box speakers for my golf cart (btw not used for golfing). I upgraded my car with a 2 Din video DVD head unit radio so I took the old factory Radio/CD/Tape player and mounted it into my Yamaha golf cart with an amplified antenna and these Pyle PLMR24S (silver) speakers. I turn the key and the radio fires up and these speakers kick in while I trail through the woods. For 3.5 inch speakers (plus bass ports) bass is sufficient, highs are excellent. My factory radio is probably pushing only 15 watts per channel (only using L/R fronts). These speakers (200 watt PEAK for 2 speakers, that probably means 100 watts peaked per speaker, which means about 35 to 50 watts NOMINAL handling per speaker)so it's almost a perfect match (of course I believe amp power should always over power speaker capacity for optimal clean sine waves as in my dual amp 2,700 watt peak 8 speaker car system) But HEY! We're talking about a golf cart here! PARTY ON GARTH! P.S. My border collie "Diogee" (D.O.G) loves rockin while ridin too!

I bought these a short time ago to use with a FM stereo receiver in my shop. I often work on home projects outside the shop in the back yard with the roll up door open, and wanted something I could hear in the yard. I read dozens of reviews for larger and/or more powerful speakers, most of which were much more expensive. I selected these because of their power and small size, as well as the affordable price. My stereo is 300 watts and these speakers are 100 watts each - a perfect match and just what I needed. At only half volume I can hear these anywhere in my back yard!! Back yard isn't huge, about 100 ft. x 100 ft, but I can even hear the music behind the shop, and it is insulated!I've not experienced any distortion at 70% volume, and don't need them to ever be any louder than that. My only criticism is the brackets are flimsy abs plastic. I gave 5 stars anyway because I mounted the speakers on the shop walls and it was not an issue for me. Great product, great sound at a low price!

I will not claim these are "HIFI". Frankly I couldn't tell in the location they are in. But they do produce clear load distortion free pop (1 direction etc) and old rock (Motorhead, AC-DC etc ) when driven from a 90W/Channel AV amp and seem capable of taking full power without problems.Ours are at one end of a domed swimming pool (4m x 9m) , that can be opened to the surrounding garden. They can easily be heard over a loud party of 11yr olds when the enclosure is open. When the enclosure is shut then the speakers are more than loud enough for me (obviously your desired levels may differ so hard to quantify). No problem (after 3 months) from the fact the enclosure is hot (25 to 35 deg C)and damp/humid (it is an enclosed pool area) when fully enclosed (which is how it is 99.9% of the time), and the speakers have been soaked by chlorine pool water (splashing, water pistols etc) more than once.

The mounting bolts for these speakers are too long for the threaded inserts, so you will need to add at least two #10 washers under each mounting bolt to prevent them from bottoming out and self-destructing. These are not included in the package. This mechanical issue aside, these are excellent little box speakers. I give them 5 stars for their sound quality. By reading the reviews for these and other similar box speakers, you can avoid the mechanical issues. You can tell that the bolts are too long just by looking at them.I'm using four of these with a Legacy LA-160 amplifier, and they work very well together at a maximum average power level of 8 Watts per channel. Above that, the speakers begin to distort. I have no way of knowing if that's an amplifier or a speaker issue. The bottom line is that they work really great for me. This system will be mounted on my boat this spring.

Purchased two sets of these speakers to set up audio in the backyard. I matched these speakers with the Lepai LP-269FS 4 x 45 Watts Mini Amplifier with Remote USB/MP3/SD and FM (also available here on Amazon). The combination is nothing short of fantastic. Very realistic sound, seamless, no hiss or static...just prefect.Cannot speak to longevity as the system only went in this past weekend, but I am very pleased with the sound quality...in fact I was blown away from the first moment I turned the amp on. Not sure if the bulk of the credit should go to the amp, or to the speakers, but I can say with conviction that in the system I put together (using the LePai mini amp mentioned above),these speakers are beyond fine. Whether that would be the case with a different amp I have no way of knowing for sure, but i am quite pleased with my new little system. 5 stars all the way.

This is the second set of these speakers that I purchased. The first pair made it through the last summer season, delivering great outdoor sound. But during the NJ winter, the white grate on the front rusted a bit. The sound was still fine but they looked awful. I decided to paint the rusted front plate at ruined one of these little guys in the process.Since i really liked the sound that they produced, for such a small and inexpensive pair of speakers, I purchased them again for this summer season. So far so good... but keep in mind that the front grate will show some weathering if you do not "winterize" these speakers. Lesson Learned...Bottom Line:If you are in the market for good outdoor speakers, considering the price, take a look at this pair. They may work well for you as they do for me.Watch my video clip for more detail.
