I've made use of Bose products in my professional life as an airline pilot for some time now and came to appreciate their overall build quality and so when it came to my fathers 60th, I couldn't think of a better present than a portable home speaker. He loves his Alexa Dot but it's lack of portability often saw him trailing extension leads out into the garden during the summer. The portability of this item solved that one right away.My main takeaways from this product:1. It feels very well built2. The sound quality is amazing, even at lower volumes3. The handle feels sturdy, and has a nice rope effect.4. The Alexa implementation is the full Alexa service, and not a half-baked version like some of Bose's earlier attempts.Set timers, use Alexa Skills (Such as BBC Sounds etc) and anything you need to do. For my Dad it's a great replacement for his Alexa Dot in that respect and has the full service he is used to.5. It's bigger than I thought it would be, but that perhaps explains the sound quality being as good as it is. I include a photo next to a UK Apple charger plug to show the height of it.6. Incredibly lengthy battery life.If I can list a negative it would be the material used on the control panel at the top. It's like a mouldable matte plastic and unfortunately leaves finger prints very clearly visible anytime you push a button. The lights on the top of the unit are white too, and not using Alexa's typical blue light ring. Volume changes are not represented on the light rung until you press up/down four times.. even though each individual press does alter the volume slightly! We also bought the separately sold charge stand for the unit which means we simply place it on it's base to then charge. We hid the cables behind a unit so it removes a need to have cables visible then! All in all, a great product. Whether it be gift idea, or for spoiling yourself I recommend it! It's overpriced and you're paying for the name like most things Bose, but even at the overpriced value it's a great unit and affords Alexa services with portability.

This speaker has some of the loudest and clearest sound I have ever experienced when using a portable speaker. I mean what would you expect from a company such as Bose. The bass is what really impressed me as it is so powerful especially for it's sizeThe overall design is rather compact, with a sleek matte black finish and nifty handle that makes it easy to carry or move around the house. The speaker itself is also splash proof which makes it perfect for taking to the beach or on holiday because London unfortunately doesn't have any beaches :( , but please note that the product manual states it shouldn't be submerged fully. The top of the speaker is basically a built in Alexa that as you would expect, allows you to control the speaker with your voice. If outside of wifi range, it can be controlled via bluetooth or the Bose app. It ofcourse, also has buttons so it can be controlled manually too.It also works very well with AirPlay 2, so you can use your apple device to connect to it.Battery life is also pretty good and can easily last a whole day or a long party without needing to be charged.Yes the price is a bit steep, but you are paying for insanely good bose speaker at the end of the day :)Easily 5/5( Click “Helpful” if this helped ^__^ )

Firstly, the sound is amazing, hi-fi quality from such a small device. You can also put it in the middle of the room and it doesn't matter where you sit, everyone will hear it properly because the sound comes out in all directions. It will be great in the garden next summer. It connects by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi so you are able to take around the house with you, as long as the device that is providing the music is also connected to your Wi-Fi.The problem for us is that we have literally a few thousand CDs that we have spent a lot of time getting onto our computer and we want it to play those but it won't. It will play anything that we have stored on our phones or tablets because it needs the Bluetooth but it won't play these over the Wi-Fi for some reason that I don't understand,I think hubby does but I don't. Hubby got a new phone on Black Friday last year that came with Spotify free for 2 years and that works well but whether it is something that we will want to pay for when the freebie is over when we have so much of our own music that we have bought and paid for is debatable. If you are happy to pay for a monthly subscription to a music service then I have no doubt whatsoever you will find this a 5 star product.

It's oh so close to being perfect! If you're buying Bose, I'm guessing your first priority is the sound. You won't be disappointed here, lovely rich (but not over-powering) bass, with a clarity that is stunning. Volume-wise it packs a punch that will fill the largest rooms in a house, and the volume tops out before any distortion creeps in. Alexa works well and it's fabulously portable. The waterproofing is an added bonus and means it will certainly be providing a soundtrack to the garden when the weather warms up next year. Why a lost star? Connectivity set up was a nightmare. We have loads of connected speakers in the house (Sonos, Echos and Sonys) and all of them have been easy set u.For whatever reason, this took multiple reboots before it would connect to the wifi via the Bose app. No problem with a bluetooth connection (which worked immediately), but the wifi was problematic, and clicking on "more help" in the app led to a 404 error and a page of html rather than any answers. To be honest, it's probably worth 4 3/4 stars, but the hour of frustration with the wifi meant I couldn't give five stars

A good idea executed well. This is easy to set up, connect to and use, even if you don’t see yourself as technical you shouldn’t have any problems with this speaker. The voice control is new to us and we have all been enjoying playing around with it, it is even coming to understand our North East accents after a few stumbles. The sound quality is amazing, it is clear even when played loud and the design gives you true 360 degree sound, if you sit it in the middle of the table everyone sat around it gets a good sound experience .Portability is good, is not huge so fits in a bag, you can buy additional carry cases but I don’t think I will need one as it’s pretty robust. It can withstand a little rain etc if you’re outside using this (it’s great for BBQs) but needs to be inside in heavy downpours, in the bathroom using for music in the bath/shower is fine as long -as it’s not in the water with you, the steam isn’t a problem.

This is an excellent speaker. The sound quality is a cut above anything else we have in the house, including our Sonos speakers, so it scores top marks on that front. It is also very nicely designed - compact and with a handy carrying handle that's missing from most portable speakers. We have used it all over the house in a way that we haven't with our other speakers. The fact that there's a built-in Alexa is brilliant. It was no bother to set up and has all the brilliant Alexa qualities but with FAR better sound than that of the Echo Dot. I also like the fact that it has a standby button. Yes it's expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

As you would expect the sound quality is excellent. It is a massive improvment on my phone's speaker or may laptop's speakers. have tried it with a variety of music and it has performed well with all of them. However I'm not quite certain if the sound quality justifies the high price tag. For me it doesn't really which is why I have given this four stars rather than five. Alexa works okay on this.It connects easily enough but on one laptop it does seem fall off quite regularly and I quite often hear that that it is now connected. The build quality is very impressive. I have used it outside a few times without any problems.

The sound quality of this speaker is brilliant. It's crystal clear, with impressive bass. The overall functionality is good too; it can be connected to either Amazon Alexa or Google and the various apps associated with these work well. It's easy to control via Bose's own app too.

Awesome! I can't praise this gorgeous piece of kit enough. Best thing ive bought in a while. If I had to carp it would only be to say that on the Bose Alexa is American and moody as hell with next to no sense of humour. ???Otherwise, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
