When I tasted this in the airport, I could really taste the chocolate notes, but tonight, on first opening (world whiskey day is a good enough excuse), I’m struggling...It’s a fine drink and i need to put the 4 star score into context, I’m comparing this to my favourite whiskey, the glenmorangie 18 yr old.If you’ve already got the 18 and the spare cash to spend on this one, then I’m sure my review won’t stop you buying this and I wouldn’t want it to either - it’s a very nice drink - smooth enough to drink straight without letting down with water..However, if you’re looking at treating yourself to a good bottle and you haven’t tried the 18, then save a good wad of cash and give it a go,you will be blown away - add it to your wish list and track it until it’s less than £70 a bottle...meanwhile, this dram will never fall below £120 - this is the best price for miles around...

This Gelnmorangie certainly isn't cheap, but the smoke bottle and impressive wooden box give off a reassuringly expensive feel to this single malt. It would be for nought though if the taste was not up to scratch. Thankfully, it's worth every penny! The nose has plenty of candied fruits and orange peel, which would be the signature Glenmorangie notes coming through. The taste is completely different though, rich, warming and smooth, with a strong note of coffee and cacao beans. The finish is mouth watering, not the longest but certainly pleasant and with no alcohol burn - this is a very mellow and smooth whisky. Despite there being some younger spirit in the bottle than the eldest 30-year old chocolate malt, you'd not really tell. Superb, the best I have had in the 100-150 price range by a good margin.

So I really wanted to give this 5*s but I couldn't quite. I agree very much with the reviewer who gave this 3 stars (maybe a bit harsh) - it's smooth, like incredibly and lovely velvet smooth, but it lacks the real character that you'll find in other quite premium whiskey's.I got some mild chocolate and the aroma is decent - slightly orange and coffee - and the taste is really smooth and a clean finish.I just would have liked a bit more port imparted on it and a bit more of the "explosive" spiceness that was mentioned. That's not to put you off. As somebody who enjoys Glenfiddich 18 (about 1/2 the price) and is not very experienced at 3-figured bottles of whiskey, I would say this is still an excellent whiskey,it just lacks true character to be something I'd return to.

My regular drinking whiskies include (from cheap to pricey) The Famous Grouse, Compass Box Great King Street and Abelour Abundah. Dalmore 12 year-old is good too. I wanted not to like Signet, figuring that I was probably paying all of that money for marketing and a fancy bottle. I was wrong. In the US, I get this dram for $160 to $200 per bottle, and it is worth every penny. It is smooth and delicious and such a treat on a cold evening that I savor every drop. The chocolate on the nose when you first pour is just the foreplay to the main event. Drink it in a Glancairn glass for the full effect. A wonderful Scotch. BTW, if you like alot of smoke, this is not your dram.

A dark whiskey in the glass. Almost like a good cognac on the nose and initial taste, with hints of vanilla.Starts with cream and treacle, goes through grass and and ends up with a hint of smoke and fruit. The length is amazing. You’ll be tasting it half an hour afterwards.I didn’t think it was worth the price until I tried regular glenmorangie straight after (I love regular glenmorangie) and it tasted like the cheap shots they give you after a meal in Spain/Greece/etc.Bought for burns night and is sadly nearly finished after another visit from friends. Will buy again but not for a while due to the price!

Fantastic whiskey although quite steep at the price without age statement.Quite complex at 46% and my recommendation is to enjoy it neat or all the complexity melts away.I tried a very decent and favorite 15 year old single malt in between a couple of drinks, and it felt weak and watery in comparison.Definitely better than any 18 year old single malt I had with the exception of MacallanPrice point is lower than most 21 year old single malts so fits the bill for special occasions very nicely without going overboard on pricing.

I was hoping not to like this Whisky because it certainly isn't cheap, however this was right up my street. Smooth with vanilla, spice and candied fruit notes, this is a whisky to be savored and enjoyed. This whisky is warming and decadent and it pains me to say this, worth the money! Trying to save it for special occasions, such as getting home safely, a Friday, the weekend, being home alone or having company!

I’ve been enjoying this whisky a lot over the past few weeks. Admittedly it didn’t impress me that much with the aroma however the creamy/coffee texture is delicious. I won’t go into tasting notes to bore you however I would certainly recommend this whisky if you enjoy Glenmorangie and are looking for something different (also makes for an excellent gift to someone special or to yourself ;).

The nose is subtle but distinctly vanilla and chocolate. The taste... I can't think how to describe it... I guess it has strong hints of an expensive tawny port but it develops, with dried/spiced fruits. It feels like the most complex whisky I have ever tasted. I want to say aniseed... I want to say liquorice... And then a sweet burn on exit. Oh man!Tastes like Xmas, only better!

A bit pricey but tastes wonderful. Comes in a beautiful bottle and box too though I'd prefer a cheaper price and less expensive packaging to be honest, since it's the liquid I'm interested in! I have already thrown the box away, and I'll do the same with the bottle after I've drunk it. I suppose it would make a nice present.

Simply the best whisky I have ever had and having sampled dozens of whiskeys I can definitely say this is worth the £120 mark up! Sit down and enjoy a perfect glass of single malt whiskey. The design and packaging is very impressive it gives it the luxury feel that the taste matches just as equally!

I would say this is probably the best whisky for the £100-150 price range. It explodes with spicy notes in your mouth. Get ready for a knockout punch of an explosive taste. I never was a fan of cheap normal glenmorangie, but this is well worth the extra cost. In this price bracket, its in my top 3.

I have an ever growing whisky collection and as I had decided to do stoptober this year I thought I would buy something to that myself with once it was over! This was a great choice! it is a really smooth and rounded whisky for anyone who enjoys a really good single malt!Thoroughly recommended!

I bought this as a special gift for someone and they VERY much appreciated it. The only thing i would say is once i had already purchased it, i spotted it considerably cheaper on another site. But for a special occasion i didn't mind paying that bit extra.

If you like Glenmorangie, you'll love this. Sweet, smooth, definite hints of chocolate. Comes in a gorgeous bottle and box, looks rather swish when put into your drinks cabinet. Very pleased with it.
