Let's just address the photo firstly. That one with the wooden box, it's the Grandeur 24 y/o, >5 times the cost of this one. If you want a fancy box, you won't find it here. This is smartly presented in a typical cylinder, which is fine, because I'm buying the drink, not the packaging (even though I do collect decent bottles as I buy as a reward, it's just a distraction). Now then the drink. This is pretty yummy, and in my opinion fair value. The first thing I did upon tasting the whiskey was google it because it is a strong alcoholic drink. That it came in at 48% wasn't surprising. It's bold and assertive, but quickly you feel that's confidence rather than misplaced arrogance. You get the impression that the barrels used have enjoyed a great life, first the Pedro Ximenez and now this, but they give a lovely thank you back to the drink. The initial oloroso oak mellows as you drink, and whilst the citrus (orange and lemon) give a fleeting hello, they are quickly replaced by spiced plum. The sherry and oak remain prominent through the drink, with just a hint of vanilla and warmth toward the end.You get the impression that the distillery unashamedly made this for serious drinkers. It's complex for sure, but in a good way. I like a whiskey with character and this certainly has it.Also worth noting for the purists that this whiskey is lighter than most Scotch's, I believe that many of even the good ones add colourings, whereas this one seems to only be coloured from the wood. It looks much paler than other 21 year olds, but don't worry, it drinks great and you it's a genuine number.I got this after reading a review comparing to the Glengoyne 21, which I also 5 starred. This is at a similar price point and like the Glengoyne makes a bold play with a strong ever present but never overpowering wood flavour (and cinnamon for the Glengoyne). This feels fractionally more full and complex, and is a smidge better for my tastes in terms of the fruits and spicing.Definitely worth trying both, but if you can only have one, go for this.

This is not a scotch for the beginner, nor for the casual whisky drinker. The 21 year old Glendronach is a true masterpiece which stands out from the crowd. The nose is wonderfully complex with a full and rich sherry influence, dark fruits, citrus, chocolate as well as faint spices of cinnamon and clove pepper. On the palate it is creamy, smooth velvet, fruity and slightly spicy. The only critique I have is that this whisky has ruined all other whiskies at it’s price point and even beats most 25 year old scotches that I have tried. Unbelievably good! And just as a potentially helpful side note Glendronach was mothballed a few years back and they are actually bottling older whisky than the label suggests. For example a bottle of the 21 year old bottled in 2019 is actually 24 years old. The 21 year old will hit its peak in 2022 at which point it will be 27 years old. Enjoy!

Simply the finest whisky I ever consumed so glad to have it in the collection i questioned if the extra price from the 18 year was worth it. I was blown away the extra 3 years and slightly different finish are worth every penny arrived in good time and well protected. If you are looking for an exceptional single malt do this without a doubht! ive had 30 year olds that dont comlare with this currently drinking mortlach 18 cask strength the glendronach 21 will be the end of the night no problem

Has a very deep profile on the nose that doesn’t quite express itself on the palate but still enough well rounded notes to appreciate. Over all a very pleasant whisky and would recommend to anyone if your budget allows.

In a class of its own. Bought as a 40th birthday present along with a personalised wooden box. Warmly received. Rich, dark and mature whiskey which reaches all the senses. No better whiskey out there for £100.

Sherry bomb - sweet complex addictive - marvellous dram if you are into sherry whiskies such as Mac 18/12, Yamazaki 18 - great value for price tag and age!!

This whisky is incredibly smooth with lots of sherry and vanilla on the nose. This is perfect with the addition of 4 drops of spring water from a pipette.
