This device is simple, efficient and easy to clean. It sits firmly on a suitably sized saucepan but for extra stability I prefer a cast-iron casserole (you are, after all, sliding the dough container to and fro over hot water).The container holds sufficient dough for a reasonable serving and as spaetzle can be kept warm in the oven for 15 minutes or so you have time to make further quantities, the process is very quick. Getting the perfect dough dropping consistency takes a little practice but my first effort was edible and not entirely unlike the Bavarian versions that prompted the purchase. Probably best though if your first outing with it isn't a dinner party! You can have fun trying e.g.

I was very pleased with this product. It works as it says but care must be taken to keep the mixture from hardening prematurely and clogging the holes so keep it at a distance above the heat. One could also put less of the mixture on a time.Spaetzle is a tasty alternative to potatoes and it looks like they will be scarce this year with the bad summer.
