This nail polish system with the colour and the top coat is fantastic!I am a nail polish addict and have tried everything. I can't wear gel as it just peels off and I have tried loads of different brands and loads of different professionals. Also regular polish just chips the same or next day, therefore, I am always looking for a longer lasting manicure. In order to achieve this I have tried all the gel hybrid polishes such as Sally Hansen Miracle Gel, OPI Infinite Shine, CND Vinylux and Orly Epix. These systems are much better than regular polish and some are better than others; however, the best by far is Essie Gel Couture. It does stay on the nails for ages, at least a week and for me that is amazing.

Some reviews talk of these gel nail polishes not being durable, and it seems that some have used the colour alone without the Top Coat. The Top Coat is essential to set and gloss the colour below and make it durable.I received colour 40 Fairy Tailor, a very light shell pink, as well as the Gel Top Coat to finish it off properly. I don't know whether the topcoat actually hardens the colour beneath or if it is a hard shell itself to stop wear and damage to the colour layers below but the Top Coat plays a major part in setting, glossing and making the coloured varnish long lasting.The bottle has an attractive twist and is easy to hold and handle, and both the colour polish and top coat is a decent size of 13.5ml.

I wasn't certain what to expect from this top coat which claims to mattify your manicure. I decided to try it on a shimmery gel polish (also by essie) as it claims this can be used as the top coat on *any* essie nail polish.It went on easily and evenly, and immediately the shimmery nail polish turned completely matt. It seemed to be touch dry in a relatively short time too; it also seems to avoid chipping as I've been doing a lot of typing and not managed to chip it (and I always chip a manicure, usually within a day or two).I am not certain I like the effect so will probably give to a friend to try; I prefer the original shimmery manicure I had before adding the top coat. You can watch this matte coat in action over the course of a few minutes, despite you technically 'watching paint dry', it's pretty interesting to watch!I've used a matte top coat before and found this one works better for a few reasons. It is really easy to apply an even coat to, so the result gives a smooth finish. It also dries super fast, I'm quite impatient with nail varnish and usually touch it before it's fully dry - within minutes this is 'fully dry'. So really impressed with it, I find using matte coats literally doubles your varnish collection as the results are so different from the original varnish.One small comment, which doesn't affect the product so it still gets 5 stars,

I am new to this ESSIE range and would recommend - especially the top coat.This is a two step varnish system which boasts up to 12 days of wear - however you do need to put a new layer of top coat daily so not quite as long lasting as it sounds.The polish is quite thick and with a lovely application brush is easy to use. I found this polish dries quicker than conventional ones - pop on 2 layers then a top coat from the same range to give the gel like appearance.I tried 2 shades - both lovely pastel hues which apply true to the colour in the bottle.The bottles are "twisted" which makes them incredibly easy to hold when in use.My nails lasted 4 days without the need to re-apply so quite short

From Miss LThis is a great matte nail polish. It subdues the shine of your colour coat while preserving it for longer. I always put a clear top-coat on but often find the gloss too shiny and eye-catching.With the matte top-coat over a cheap colour, my nail polish lasted one week and 2 hair washes before it started to chip at all, and lasted almost another week before it was chipped too badly to keep. Normally the two coats of the cheap colour barely last a week without a top-coat.This matte polish is quite cool to watch as you can see what I presume to be a chemical reaction between the two polishes. The colour goes slightly darker as well as completely matte.

I’ve tried this Matte finish top coat only once and I think it’s amazing - I tried it on top of the Essie nail varnish, and I’m really satisfied with the results. It really does take the sheen away from the varnish and leaves a matte top coat finish. This top coat applies really nicely, the brush runs over my nail smoothly, I get a clean finish. Once dried and cured, this top coat feels really strong and durable, providing extra protection to the nail varnish. I highly rate this to be honest and I wish I had tried it sooner, I love that I don’t need to buy new nail varnishes to get a different finish. This is good value for money in my opinion and I’d definitely consider using this again.

I have always loved Essie products due to the last efforts it has on my nails and was so excited to try this.I first applied my nail varnish and waited a while for it to dry completely. I then used a thin coating of the gel setter and ran it along evenly with the brush over the top and side of my nails which helped provide a seal to prevent the nail varnish from chipping.I found by using a thin coating this helped my nails dry quickly as opposed to putting on a thick coat. A second coating can also be done if needed but I found one to be enough and the best bit is no UV lamp is required to dry them.Once dried my nails had a lovely shine which made my nails look like salon quality all by using

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Soooo alot of colour I absolutely adore but I really hate being left with super Shiney nails, I'd never heard of a matt top coat before and really wasn't expecting much.... So on it went, which by the way is really easy to do little goes along way. Stares at it nothing much looks different but then when it dries *cries* the matt finish is beautiful!! I can use all the colours I wish and it doesn't have to be Shiney no more.... It lasts really well on my busy mum hands and a week later most of my polish remains in place bar a few chips. This is definitely my new favourite must have

A really good top coat that makes every nail polish matte. I was very pleasantly surprised when I applied it on top of Essie nail polish and it made it matte and long lasting and then applied it on top of another brand of nail polish and it did the same. Even when applied on top of pearlescent nail polish it makes it matte. That is impressive!I’ve noticed it dissolves the nail polish a little bit as the colour can be seen on the brush afterwards. The brush is good quality and spreads evenly when applying the coat. It smells like nail polish does but the smell goes away after it dries. Very satisfied with this

When I paint my nails, I don't mind a nice, shiny finish to them but I personally prefer a matte finish as it is a bit more subtle and not so eye catching.I used this varnish on top of nail varnish from the same range and it worked very nicely. I only had to apply a thin layer and my freshly painted, shiny nails turned into beautiful matte nails. I found the varnish to dry very quickly and you can see it turning matte as you apply it which is really nice.Since I got this, I have applied it every time I have painted my nails! I don't think I can go back to shiny nails now I have this!

This top coat compliments the gel couture nail polish by essie. I found it gave my nail colour a proper high-gloss finish, and kept the colour going for longer. It dries very quickly and is not gloopy or too runny. I would recommend it for use each time you apply nail polish, particularly the gel polish, as it definitely stops the colour from chipping. I have tried it on two different colours now, and both times, I’ve managed to get away with not having to redo my nails for at least a week, and I’m sure it’s the protection of the top coat that have made this possible.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had Essie Matte About you top coat to try and was quite impressed with it. It was easy to apply and not too thick and dries to a lovely matte finish. I did feel that it made my nail varnish last longer and it didn't chip at all. The only thing that I personally found annoying was that it takes quite some time to dry. I would say to be on the safe side to wait at least 15 minutes before doing anything that may smudge your nails. Well worth it in the end though for a lovely finished longer lasting gorgeous nails.

I use gel on my fingers, but regular polish on my toes, and my daughter uses regular polish on her fingers too, so we tend to share products.This is unusual as it is a matte polish, so rather than the shiny finish you get with most polishes and top coats, this is matte, so no shine.Its very easy to apply, a good texture and a nice shaped brush.It dries quickly and gives the desired none shiny matt effect.The nail polish does tend to stay on longer when using this, so overall I would recommend it.Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

I really like this top coat,it doesn't actually make my nail polish last 12 days as claimed, I think it says up to 12 days, but I find when I use 2 coats of Essie nail polish and one of top coat, my nails last half a week so I only have to do them twice a week.All the other polishes and top coats I have tried have started to chip off almost immediately, so this is loads better.I find the top coat goes on easily and dries quickly,and it really seems to bond with the varnish underneath, making it much tougher and chip resistant.Five stars from me.
