If anyone knows anything about Russian women they love to look glamorous whether going to the shops, the gym or even just staying in. They are very particular about their beauty regimens and will only buy products that actually work. Thus, my wife has said to me that she is always going to buy ESSIE from now on.

My nails have become quite ridged so I have given up wearing nail polish because it doesn't look good now. I thought I would give this a try without much expectation.It was not as thick as I thought it would be, more like a regular polish than a 'filler', but it went on easily and smoothly, didn't smell nasty, and dried very quickly. Despite my scepticism, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it did make a difference to my nails. It did not smooth out all the ridges but my nails definitely felt smoother than they did and the polish looked a lot better and more even after using the Smooth-e.Having just read the info on the Amazon page again,

I've had some issues with my nails in recent years with pitting and ridges appearing, meaning I've not been able to get a smooth effect when wearing nail varnish. I've tried a number of different base coats and whilst they do help none of them really fill in the ridges. I'm super happy with this base coat which is specifically designed to fill in ridges and create a smooth effect, which certainly does! It even helps to even out the nails on my toes.It is easy to use and drive relatively quickly and arrived quickly and well packaged as well which was a nice bonus. I think for the price this item is definitely worth it and I will be re-ordering as it works so well for me.

This nail polish base coat fills in the uneven parts of my nails - particularly ridges - and gives a really smooth base from which to add colours. You need to apply this about 15 minutes before starting on applying colour to give it time to harden and complete its job of filling in.This is a compact package holding this simple glass phial the contents of which you apply with the brush provided. When you have ridges it can so often ruin your nail polish, so this undercoat is essential to achieving your desired finish, and it delivers 100%. This is an excellent product and one that you have to have in your repertoire.

I absolutely love having my nails done, I like the salon visit, the time taken to choose a design and people commenting on how lovely they look but hey, who can afford to go to a salon every week which is how often I see designs I like. So having the option to paint my own nails every now again is attractive to me. The devastation of staining my own nails or my gel overlays is one that I can get over but hate with a passion. However, this product did indeed do the job it claims to do, it created a nice smooth layer for the paint and there was no staining at all. Great job done but …. why are the prices so high?

My mother reviewed this. 'I have developed quite a lot of ridges in my nails and one in particular does show through nail polish. I wanted to give this a try as it is supposed to provide a better surface to put your colour coat on and disguise imperfections. It also acts as a barrier against nail colour staining. I found that it went on well and so long as you allow it to dry properly it will provide a good even surface to put your nail colour on to. It did not completely cover the really bad ridge I have which splits at the nail tip, but it does look a lot better now than before. I like this and I would buy it again as it is a good product for a reasonable price.'

essie Nail Care Smoothing Nail Varnish Smooth-e Nail Polish Base Coat 13.5 ml is a nail product I now like to use to protect my nails from outside damage e.g. water etc. I do like how it helps them look a healthier even though it does not fill the deeper ridges which my nails have due to arthritis.I like the look of the product on its own and would happily wear this without adding another colour or varnish to my nails which can sometimes cause more damage rather than protection.A nice to use product which I am happy to recommend.

I have quite prominent ridges on my nails and im quite lazy about removing them and I dont wear nail polish to cover them but I do wear a clear polish quite often which doesn't really hide them, i had the chance to try this and it has really made them alot less visible. Its a nice thickness and is a clear matt finish when dry so I can still use a clear polish on top. I'm really happy I had the chance to try this and it is something i will continue using in the future and is not overly expensive.

I’m a big fan of this base coat. I’ve used so many that dry down glossy or shiny, but this base coat dried down matte. I think the formula of this base coat is really great, I gave it 10 minutes to dry, but it only really needed 5. The base coat smoothes out your nails and any imperfections on your nails which I love. I don’t get any of those weird air bubbles with this base coat. Great base for any colour polish to go on top!

This Essie Smooth-e nail polish base coat is a ceramide infused formula which helps fill uneven surfaces on the nail and protect against staining – the latter being a particular hazard if you wear regularly wear coloured polish. The base coat is easy to apply and dries quickly and I am finding that my manicure and polish is lasting longer without chipping or splitting. 4*

If you have deep urges this isn’t going to help, it does go on very well and it has stopped the polish from staining my nails so it does what it says on the box.My ridges weren’t Noticeably lessened thou so for me it didn’t perform as expected.The polish does dry very quickly thou so if your in a hurry this is a good base coat to apply.

Great top coat which left my nails With a lovely Shiny hue over my subtle coloured pink nail varnish.Wide brush gives good coverage so no need to go over the nail multiple times possibly causing the undercoat to bubble or streak. Not too thick either, just the right consistency.Thumbs up for this.I hope you found this review helpful

A natural like base coat that will prepare your nails for the nail vanish and protects the natural oils from the chemicals that nail vanish may have. Will leave your nails smooth and enriched and will care them carefully. It hasn't got a specifically strong smell. Easy to apply before using nail polish. Highly recommended.

A base coat is vital for your natural nails, it protects them against staining and strengthens them also leaving a smooth surface for the coloured polish to go over filling in any small ridges.It is also handy just on its own giving your nails a little shine and strengthening them against breakage.

So I can't honestly say this "filled in" or "smoothed" my nail but it did go on nicely and provided a good base for my nail polish. It's not too thick and goes on smoothly leaving almost a matt look to your nail pre-polish. Not bad but nothing fancy I could tell ?
