If you keep hearing 'toy box only' and don't understand let me quickly catch you up... the Disney Infinity game has two modes. Toybox mode and playset mode (in which you need to put one of those fancy looking crystal pieces on the base). The playset pieces are actually a game of their own. In the starter pack there is a Monsters Inc, Incredibles and Pirates one. Only characters corresponding with that world will work in it... so for example, Sully from Monsters Inc can't be played in the Incredibles game, only Mr Incredible, Violet, Dash, Mrs Incredible and Syndrome will work in the Incredibles game.Toybox mode is where you build your own game... possibilities are endless e.g You could make a town featuring pride rock,Cinderella's castle and the apartment block from Wreck it Ralph... and stick a car in to race around. Within toy box mode there are lots of mini games to play and EVERY infinity character will have its own mini game to access in toy box mode.Elsa is a toy box only character so there is no Frozen game to play her in. Even without a game though she is an awesome character for the toy box. She is very strong and in the battle arena games can get very far from a low level with her ice powers alone. It's also very cool visually to watch her freeze characters as well as enemies. Anna didn't fare as well for me because all she has is a climbing hook which I found quite boring.Elsa's mini game is a slingshot game, firing as many infinity balls as you can in the time limit. Found this a little random and not a great match to the character but her special powers and strength in the other games made up for this.Elsa is also voiced by Idina Menzel who also provided the voice of Elsa in the movie. If you leave the character alone for a while she'll mutter a few things to you.UPDATE: All infinity characters old and new will work in the toy box mode of the new 2.0 version

I have a few Infinity figures and Anna is my favorite, for one simple reason: her spade. My children call it the spade of death as I chase after them and clout them with it. The sound effect of the spade smacking some one is just straight out of an episode of the Young Ones and makes it even more fun.The spade is her close up attack, and it works well. Smack, Smack and Smack and then the enemy gets sent flying. Her grappling hook is not so good, its range is not very far but when you hit someone with it, you can pull them to you. Cue more screams from my kids, they escape the spade to get pulled back again. At this point you are thinking I am mean to torment my kids in this way,but it has taught a 4 year old to block in the game to stop the spade killing him, and also Anna can't fly so that my kids can fly off and escape.Anna's special move is useless as it is a ground slam option, that all the other characters have in their close range skill tree. (4 skill trees to spend points on as you level up - health, ranged, close up and special move). She even says in the game that she has no magical powers. You can spend points to make her walk faster. The figure is well made, it is a Disney Toy so high quality is expected and I have not been let down on that regard.Anna can only be used in the toybox mode of play, and my little girls (aged 6 and 8) quite often play with Anna, so Santa did well with this figure at Xmas.

This figure, which like the others in the range, unlocks play in the Disney infinity game, as well as being a nicely made real life figurine, is one of my kids' favourite characters. Like the other resin figures, Dash fits on to the base of the infinity set when you wish to play with him in the game itself. He is a little smaller than other figures at about 5cm tall - as befits his character in the film.As any owner of Infinity will know, some figures are only for use in the Toy Box mode, whereas some can be used in a playset too - in this case Dash can join his family in the Incredibles Adventure. One point to note is that you will have to unlock his ability (running very fast)in the playset by completing training at the Incredibles HQ when playing in adventure mode. In the toybox he runs fast from the off. Once his abilities are unlocked Dash is a fun addition to the family;R2 will make him run very fast and makes him adept at outmaneuvering the baddies.Though Dash doesn't add enormously to the game or complete the Incredibles set (for that you will need to buy his sister Violet and the evil Syndrome) game play wise he is one of the more satisfying characters and the figure itself is well made and rendered. Recommended.

Or so my son tells me.My lil prince was overjoyed and beamed with delight when he opened the BIG over wrapped box full of extra brown paper, to see Davy Jones!!! The joy on his face made my heart sing! We played together and I can concur this is the best character we have played with....so far.I will be back to buy more but not in a hurry as the cost is thievery! Games used to have characters built in and you simply select who you want...ala Street Fighter, Tekken, Even Star Wars.....never Have I seen such extortion upon parents to buy buy buy every character for a game!!!! That being said...it is great marketing and got me sucked up as we now have a neat collection should keep my son happy for a few years!!!(It had better)Very pleased with service also...quick and fast FREE delivery came a day after i PAID for deliver for two other characters.Lesson learned DO NOT PAY for delivery again!!!

I bought this for a friends daughter, well actually I bought two characters as he has two daughters - Anna and Elsa - both from the film Frozen. He had recently purchased a new Wii U along with the Disney Infinity game. What these characters do is bring additional story/activities/interactions to the game - in that once you have added these characters to the Disney Infinity Game, they then become part of the game. You then make the story go as you want, creating new adventures on the way. I understand that Anna has a hook, so amongst other things, she is able to pull enemies closer to herself, climb walls etc. Elsa has the ability, amongst other things, to freeze people! At just under £10 per character, including postage and packing, these are a great addition to the game. You can of course use the characters across a number of devices, as listed through Amazon. Highly recommended.

My Daughter's have finally found a game they love to play together in split screen, which doesn't involve killing each other. They love the exploration and building worlds involved in the game, and their only disappointment is that some characters like Anna from Frozen don't have full levels devoted to the relevant film, but are for "Toy Box" use only. Also they would really like to buy the power discs with a special feature (freezing the toy box world for instance, as Elsa) without having to play a game of lucky dip, with no guarantee that they'll get the disc they want or just get a repeated one, I notice than in the US you can get Anna and Elsa with the power discs included all in one Toy Box Pack, another case of rip off Britain?

Really enjoyed the movie frozen and loved the sisters Anna & Elsa so went out and bought the characters for use on our Disney infinity game, sound investment, they're great fun to use both with really cool unique ability's, Elsa's being able to freeze enemies, objects and other players with her combat moves, this also involves her range attacks which is her creating snowballs to launch at enemies, Her figure is also one of my favorites, shes in a really cool pose which I think is the best looking figure released so far by Disney. To round off Elsa is a really awesome character which I recommend you add to your collection :)I've reviewed Anna on her own feedback page if you wish to check my review of her also.

My daughter was a huge fan of Skylanders, which was the original video game that required you to buy endless figures and paraphernalia for use in the game. She is also a huge fan of Disney, so I thought Disney Infinity would be a huge hit at our house. It wasn’t. She just never really got into it - and I kept encouraging her by buying the figures of her favorite characters. She did play Disney Infinity some, but it just never took hold the way Skylanders did.THE KID SAYS: The included toy box modes had good stories but beyond that there was so little direction that some people could get overwhelmed. The stories were easy to finish up and after that it was hard for me to come up with ideas for the sandboxes.

Instead of giving my daughter pocket money, I buy her gold stars off her from school as she had been too busy messing around to concentrate on working, naturally she has since been coming home with countless gold stars, her work has improved and lately has been getting 'star of the week' badges! Those elusive badges earn her £20... Although I'm now beginning to think pocket money would be cheaper! Anyhoo... She saves her earned pounds and buys herself things she wants, like disney infinity characters. She loves this character, she likes to drive around and run things over, she gives it the big thumbs up, she says she would buy it again if hers broke and would recommend to other children. :)

Good price - £5 at the time I ordered it and one of a '3 for 2' offer so it worked out at about £3.33 per figure. These infinity figures were £15 new at time of release and still tend to be about £4 each second hand these days, so essentially getting new figures for the price of second had ones.My kids love the Infinity game, so they are happy whatever the model. I tend to think the infinity models look quite plain and bland, but this is quite a nicely sculpted model. At these prices its possible for kids to build up quite a sizeable collection of these figures to play their Disney Infinity game ...... which is nice for the kids and the good for the future of the Infinity game series.

My three year old wanted this addition to her Disney Infinity collection so it became an incentive in potty training. The CARS characters (Francesco, Holly, Lightning, and Mater) are all special due to the fact that they cannot "climb" or perform other human actions in the toy box so think about that as you purchase these characters. They are great within the Cars play set so this was a nice addition to open the main vault with this fourth and final character to our collection and also just to run around Radiator Springs doing the challenges and completing missions.Final Thoughts: Highly recommended if you have the Cars Play Set... In just the Toy Box, though, I might hold off.

Really enjoyed the movie frozen and loved the sisters Anna & Elsa so went out and bought the characters for use on our Disney infinity game, sound investment, they're great fun to use both with really cool unique ability's, Anna's being able to launch a grappling hook at enemies to pull them closer or launch it at objects and buildings to help climb up them, this and her combat involving beating her foes with a shovel (similar to Rapunzel's frying pan) to round up Anna is an awesome character which I recommend adding to your collection :) I've reviewed Elsa on her own feedback page if you wish to check my review of her also.

Mater was the first individual figure i have purchased, I have gotten the Sidekicks Triple Pack & the other Playsets, so i wanted to pick one on it's own.The Figure itself is very nice, he has some nice details and his expression is as goofy as you would have guessed. Like the Playsets & other packs he does come with a registration card, so you can unlock him to be used on the upcoming iPad & PC versions. If you want to add another figure to the collection, he's great, but like all mass produced figures there are some flaws in the paint job, but not bad enough to ruin it.

this is a great item at the price i paid for it less than £10 ..terrible that some sellers are selling it at the extortionate prices they are charging now just before christmas and it certainly isn't worth paying more than a tenner for. my son loves the game and that he can collect discs and figurines that unlock more from the game, yes it is a good concept but an expensive one even when sellers are selling the items at a fair price it all mounts up. my son has all the characters and most of wave 1 and wave 2 discs and i dread to think how much it all cost.

We recently purchased the Disney Infinity system from Amazon, my sons however already requested certain characters for their crimbo wishlists. Mike was on my six year old's wishlist as he's a major fan of Monster's Inc fan.I'm not sure 'exactly' what he does but they love him. Apparently the game is a cross between Minecraft and Skylanders and it's Violet (The Incredibles) and Mike (Monster's Inc) that they always choose. I have three sons ages seven, six and four and they all love him so I'd definitely recommend him as an Infinity character.
