Disney Infinity is a great title to play, This is coming from an adult player with no children, i didn't buy it to be played with children in mind. I bought it for it's interesting concept. First of sure the figure aspect is the same as Skylanders, but that is where the comparisons end. Disney Infinity is entirely different once inside and exploring it's content.Obviously the starter pack is the best way (and only at the moment) way to play. You get the three starter figures which are very charismatic and filled with charm, and match the in-game models perfectly, it truly feels like you see the figure itself represented on screen. Inside you also get a random Power Disk which grant special things while in the games Toy Box mode, which is it's own level maker/editor! Which is crammed with content and possibility. There are three types of Power Disk, The red circle disks grant power-ups such as attack boost/more health etc which can be used inside the playsets (I'll mention later) and Toy Box, then there is orange hexagonal which are classed as 'Toys' for use within the Toy Box, and are based on various things from Disney movies such as Cinderella's Carriage (Which plays the song "A Dream is a wish your heart makes" while riding) or Stitch's Blaster which is the same gun used by the character in the movie. Finally you have purple hexagonal disks that add themes to the level you're making. For example place the "Marlon's Reef" disk on the base and your toy box background changes to a seascape and plays music from Finding Nemo. The extra packets themselves are blind packaged, so be aware if you buy them this way, you will eventually get doubles, but there's always other sites you can buy individual disks from. The best thing about Toy Box, is that it can be played online with up to 4 players. Finally there's the playsets which are based on the worlds from the Movies, the starter set comes with The Incredibles, Pirates & Monsters University included, so you get three individual games to play, Incredibles is more about battling robots and going about the town with various objectives, Pirates is more action adventure, with sword fighting, exploring and Pirate ship battles (Similar to naval battles from Assassin's Creed 3) and Monsters University is very objective based, and resolves around taking down the rival university (there's a great Paintball mini game in this one) There are also 3 other playsets that you have to buy seperate, Based on Cars, The Lone Ranger & Toy Story in Space, Which the latter is out in October. The only gripe with the Playsets as there is no online mode, so if you want to play two player the only option is split screen local play, and characters CAN NOT cross over, so Sully will not work in Pirates, so if you plan on playing two player, pick up the Sidekicks/Villains Pack to be able to play multiplayer on all three starter playsets. While it's a very pricey concept, it's worth buying into for at least the starter pack, The Toy Box mode offers a depth of content and can become the pinnacle feature of this game. The playsets themselves are very fun, but don't come with a lot of depth to them, they can be completed in 4-7 hours but can take longer if you go for every single collectible and complete all challenges. It's a worthwhile game to look into even if you are an adult, don't let the 'Child friendly' Disney brand put you off.. there's a lot on offer for everyone.

Disney Infinity costs a lot of money if you want to get the most out of it. There's no denying it and it's definitely a hard obstacle for some players to overcome. The good news is that you don't *have* to buy anything extra if you just want to play by yourself in the playsets and mess around in the Toybox mode. But this game is designed to be played with more than the starting figures and your progression through the game is going to be slowed down if you only own the first three. If you want to play splitscreen co-op through the playsets, you'll need to buy one more character from each movie set. You also unlock new items faster in the Toybox mode with more characters, because each time a character levels up,it grants you one random toy.In fact, I'd say that the game's randomised unlock system for the toybox is my biggest disappointment from Disney Infinity. The game makes you jump through a lot of hoops to get "spins" for a menu that picks a random toy from a group of sixteen locked items. It sounds like a really minor complaint, but some of the locked items are important for making even basic games (checkpoints, enemy generators, alternative camera views, scoreboards and more). Disney Infinity advertises itself as an open, creative experience but you have to play through most or all of the playsets and challenges before you can collect what you need to make what you want.If the game is good, the figures themselves are fantastic. Sulley and Mr Incredible are quite simplistic in design, but Captain Jack is wonderfully detailed. Each character has been redesigned to fit the toy theme of the game and even without the game, these would make great display items. Finally, the Wii U version of the game lacks a couple of features that should really have been included in this version. There's no Wii U Pro Controller support for the second player - only really fiddly Wii Remote and Nunchuck controls - but the Infinity website FAQ suggests that a patch may be introduced to fix this. Also, the local multiplayer is only available as a splitscreen, rather than one player on the gamepad screen and the other on the TV. This is especially disappointing for me, because my TV isn't very wide. So, in conclusion, Disney Infinity is a really fun game if you're only buying the starter pack, but to get the most of the experience you'll have to put in a lot more money and time than you might be willing to.

Disney does Skylanders. The concept of have a figure that comes to life on a portal was first introduced by Skylanders, Disney have cleverly introduced a version of their own using Disney Characters. If you played Skylanders then Infinity is pretty much the same, place a figure on the portal and that figure comes to life in the game.My boy of 9 loved Skylanders, wasn't as keen on the second version called Giants as it was to easy, he was bursting with excitement to get his hands on Disney's Infinity. The Starter pack has three figures Mr. Incredible, Jack Sparrow, and Sulley which are very detailed figures. You have the Infinity base, Play Sets for Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles, which I tell you about in a bit. and one Disney Infinity Power Disc (Xbox 360/PS3/Nintendo 3DS/Wii/Wii U) which is a blind pack that unlocks different features in the game such as a new vehicle on toy etc.The play sets open worlds, the pack comes with one which opens the Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles worlds, to open another you need to get your wallet out and buy another set of figures, we purchased the lone ranger pack, the figures are very detailed.Game play is brilliant, you get to Battle the enemies, plenty of doable puzzles, overcome obstacles and complete a variety of other unique quests, the more you play the more features get unlocked. They are a few packs to buy,Disney Infinity Sidekicks 3 Pack (Xbox 360/PS3/Nintendo Wii/Wii U/3DS), Disney Infinity Villains Figure Set - Davy Jones, Randy and Syndrome - Pre-Order, these do not come with a play set to open a new world, I guess more packs will follow. We purchased the Disney Infinity Lone Ranger Playset Pack (Xbox 360/PS3/Nintendo 3DS/Wii/Wii U) at the same timeOut favorite worlds are Disney Infinity Lone Ranger Playset Pack (Xbox 360/PS3/Nintendo 3DS/Wii/Wii U) and the Pirates, although the Monsters and Incredibles are really good. This is going to probably knock Skylanders off the top spot, the thing that is great is you know the characters, with Skylanders they were always a mystery until you unlocked them.Disney Infinity is brilliant, its going to cost to buy the play sets the power discs, but what doesn't.

It's safe to say that anyone who has even seen the game knows what is happening here. You get the basic starter pack to 'start' you off and then to unlock most of the potential in the game you are required to buy the extras. The sets you get in the Starter Pack are as follows:Mr Incredible - Incredibles, probably the most fun of the three since you get to act the part of a Superhero in a large city world.Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean. Another fun one, explore the Pirate world on a quest to stop Davy Jones, those who enjoyed the Naval Battles in Assassin's Creed 3 will enjoy this one for sure.Sully - Monsters Inc. Probably the worst of the bunch. It feels more like the sneak aspect of Assasin's Creed as you creep around Campus scaring others, there is some small combat in the game but it's minimal compared to the others.I found each title lasted around 5-8 hours to get through the initial missions, however after all of those there was little else to do except for collect some of the scattered things around the area. Considering most full priced games are around the same length these days you are essentially getting three games in one.The Toybox mode is very similar if you have played Toy Story 3 before, You are given a large area and can set toys, buildings and features to it. Unfortunately to unlock most of these additions you need to randomly 'spin' to win after levelling up. Which is a long and annoying process.Currently there are two other playsets out there, a Cars set and a Lone Ranger one. Upcoming is a Toy Story one. It's nice that they are getting more out however it's not all of them. Upcoming are packs for Wreck it Ralph, Frozen and others including Nightmare Before Christmas. These will only be used for Toy Box mode.Overall Disney Infinity is a fun game however it's an expensive one.

Bought as a birthday present for my youngest daughter (8 years old) at first it was a little confusing but after the initial animation (every new user has to go through it) and a little messing around in the Toy Box we delved into the three separate "worlds" that come with this set.Of the three "worlds" The Incredibles is the favourite of both my daughters but having sneaked a play or two myself (ahem!) I have to say I thoroughly loved the Pirates of the Caribbean with Jack Sparrow by far my favourite character. At first Monsters University was a bit too simple and dare I say "dull" but persevere and it livens up to a remarkable degree...if anything I would say that this is the most child friendly of the worlds as Pirates & The Incredibles do involve "killing" Davy Jones crew and robots respectively... all in a "Disney" sense of course. We bought the Wii U version and although two players is available using a standard Wii controller be aware that a lot of functionality for player 1 using the Wii U controller doesn't appear to be readily available for player 2.... then again that could simply be down to myself and the kids not understanding the rudimentary instructions given for pairing and using...If you are undecided it will make a great Christmas gift but be prepared for lengthy periods of your kids (or anyone else for that matter) lack of interaction with the world around them for several hours at a time. All in I give this a four star rating, it really is excellent fun for all the family. It would have been a five star rating but I can already sense this is going to be a very expensive pursuit as more and more characters arrive...

This isn't cheap, but the price is clear to see for all. If you can't afford it, that doesn't mean it deserves a low rating.I paid about £35 for this starter pack and it came with three figures and a crystal to unlock the worlds in which those characters live. So I get a Monsters University game, a Pirates game and an Incredibles game all in one box. There are many hours of gameplay in here without any additional purchases and it represents excellent value.I'm working through the Monsters U game and finding areas that cannot be unlocked without using some of the other Monsters U characters, these cost more money - about a tenner a piece. Do I want them? Yes. Do I need to buy them? No.Worth noting that you cannot do multiplayer in these worlds unless you have at least 2 characters from that world. e.g. we got Sully and can't play 2-player Monsters U unless we buy a Mike character or similar. Some areas of the game require all 4 characters to complete - the costs will add up, but the base game is great value. If you split the starter packs between three worlds, that's about a tenner a world. Add on the 3 extra characters you need to complete all the challenges and you're talking about £40. That's about how much a standalone game might have cost anyway, so I don't believe this is an expensive way to play - it's actually quite cheap if you are happy with skipping over some of the multi-character challenges.Great game, well designed. Would be 5 stars but I found a glitch in the game that should have been fixed before release. Not the end of the world, google found me a workaround, but clearly not (quite) 5 star perfection.

I had researched this game a lot before buying it for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas. My 9 year old son used to love Skylanders and I expected this to be much the same with Disney characters.Although the popping characters on the portal is the same, the actual games are much more open world which my kids love, Skylanders was very linear. We had the starter set and then my daughter bought the toy story play set with her Christmas money and has had hours and hours of fun. She plays 2 player on a split screen and each player can run around independently grabbing different missions off characters or work together for a larger mission.Loads of unlockables along the way.My son has unexpectedly taken to it mainly due to the Toy Box mode which they can start from nothing and build their own worlds with access to all the different building blocks that build the play sets. He is currently building a Wreck it Ralph level. I have had a try at this but find the controls a bit fiddly to use, not particularly instinctive but my kids seems to doing fine with it so maybe I'm just too old. Both children enjoy the game Minecraft and I think the toy box appeals to that side of them. All in all we are very happy we bought this. You do need to have 2 characters from any play set that you want to play 2 player which is something to bear in mind but the Toy box is a great game by itself.

I bought this for my son and I love concept of this (and Skylanders) where the playable characters are interchangeable. I looked at both this and Skylanders but eventually went for what appeared be the more considered Disney world as opposed to the blood and thunder of Skylanders. The starter pack comes with 3 starter figures (Sully from Monsters Inc, Mr Incredible and Cpt. Jack Sparrow) which are well represented on screen when you're playing the game. You can play the playset game of the character you are using or set up and build your own world in Toy Box mode. Personally I like the ToyBox because the options to build and play your own world are endless. So far my son prefers the playing the more structured game but,as a say above, he's still only 5.The ways in which you can expand the game and the Infinity experience are multiple too. You can add to a character's powers buy buying Power Disks and you can add different characters to play with (we have bought Mike from Monsters Inc already so that 2 players can play Sully and Mike in the Monsters playset). Obviously the Disney back catalogue is huge to the options here are pretty well unlimited. Obviously the additions all come at a cost but it also makes this perfect for any future birthdays or christmas and additional gift.

I got this game for my 9 yo daughter & her mom cause I wanted something that was a little different, something more creative and so far haven't been disappointed, although there are a few gotcha you need to know. Firstly although the starter pack contains three characters, you need two from the same set to play in the same world, indeed for two players to play at all; so you find yourself immediately going to out to spend even money, almost immediately. Secondly although there are 3/4 characters in a set, it seems that you can only play with two of them @ once; understood that you can play on the net with more, but then co-operating with them to win would be a challenge indeed I fear. That said you only have to play for a few minutes to start to understand why this game costs what it does, with a seemingly endless universe to play within. First impressions levels within the game don't seem as challenging as say Rayman Legends, but never the less not too easy. Perfect for the age group I think this game really targets the 7 to 12 age group. My only real criticism is the lack of imagination that has gone into the non movie star players/characters, a missed opportunity on part of Disney who could/should have put more effort into their design perhaps.

Not played this but have seen the kids play it loads. Still playing in the next three to six months as well probably. we have bought quite a lot of figures & play sets & can say I have never spent so much on a game. the power disks are a little tricky as you buy a pack blind not knowing what they are but have teamed up with some locals & we swap them free to each other(thanks you lot). at the moment they are hooked on the lone ranger set (crap film) but the game is the best yet they say. I have seen this on the xbox 360 & can say the Wii U version is a lot better on the graphics & seems to have much better colour. Couple of gripes - the second remote screen is not used & a max of 2 players at a time.we have 4 kids. Very good package & if you are prepared to pay for all those extras then GO TREAT THEM. Ps it is worth spending money on the play sets as they open up complete different game worlds. The total money we have spent makes me want to down mark this game but the kids really like it!!!! so full marks it is then. A+++++

After buying the starter pack for my 2 sons aged 4 & 7, I would have to say Disney Infinity has been a hit from the start! They love playing their favourite characters and the different play worlds you can enter is great! We have since purchased The Lone Ranger pack and other characters from Monsters Inc, Pirates of the Carribean and incredibles so that they can play in these worlds together! However I would say the downside to these figures are that they are not robust at all! We had skylanders before and when they weren't being used on the portal my sons liked to play with them, they thought they could do the same with these and although my boys are not that rough with their toys,2 broke and required super glue to fix! Which is why I'm giving 4 stars! Also it would be great if the new released characters were actually available as we have been waiting for jack skellington for a while!!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this. It is amazing! My daughter (and myself) are utterly addicted. The only drawback that I have found is that when I played the 'Pirates' game through myself, it only took about six hours. There are also parts that I know my little girl will struggle with, but she seems more than content with the 'toy box' for now. The figures are great, there's something about having a 'real' character which you can 'place on de base and use in de game'.Speaking of the Toy Box, you have to spend some real time, both in the toy box and the adventures, to aquire special building items, and it's worth it!I say concentrate on the incredibles as a set,but then it is perhaps my all-time favourite animated film. Why, oh why, do I see people paying more for used items like this on Ebay instead of simply buying new from Amazon?!At Amazons prices, these are worth it!!

This is a fantastic game for absolutely all ages, there is just so much to do the characters are a little expensive as only one character in each of there own sets say monster's uni only mike, sully or randy has a long story line not all 3, but saying that it does last a least 8-9 hours depending on how you play, the toy box is great and to be able to invite friends and build on each others makes it alot more entertaining, there's also game-pad play only too which is great if someone wants the telly which happens alot in my house, I've never watched lone ranger the film but its my favourite one so far so don't be put of if you haven't seen or don't like a certain film it's nothing like ityou'll love this it's nothing like skylanders either for all those who say its a knock off its completely different apart from the both having figures and a port!I'd recommended this to everyone

I bought this game for the PS3 after long consideration. At first I was going to buy it for the Wii but then realised that you could not play 2 player in the playsets due to platform issues, which would have been a bit upsetting as I have enjoyed playing 2 player with my sister! I think this is an amazing game which provides hours of fun! The playsets are amazing and I especially enjoyed the Incredibles and Lone ranger ones, the lone ranger playset is not included. The toy box is incredible and the further you progress in the game the more toys you get. Also the higher level characters you have the more toys you can acquire. I really enjoy getting better characters and upgrading my hall of heroes as a result of this. The mu playset is also really fun although once I got lost and sneaking around the base of fear tech is hard; especially when throwing the fireworks in the window.

Great game and is for any age group in my opinion. This starter pack is the best out of all the games because you get 3 character and a power disc which is very cool. It is a very fun game and is like skylanders but with Disney characters and scenes such as monsters inc, pirates of the Caribbean, toy story and the incredibles. Characters are quite cheap now and most are around £5-7 from what iv seen. Plus all the characters from this game can be carried over to the new ones! Although they cannot be used for the stories in the game!! Just for exploring the toy box which is where you just run around finding things and creating your own Disney world.
