Personally having played none of call of duty games before i didn't know what to expect all i have to influence my purchase of call of duty modern warfare was the hype surrounding the release created by the media and gaming experts.Modern Warfare kicks off with a brief tutorial designed to teach the player about the game’s controls, followed by a trip through a testing area. Though this was created to determine which difficulty level the player should attempt, this editor highly recommends that hardcore shooter fans play on the Hardened difficultly level. Like Halo 3, the normal level is just a bit too easy, and most players will be able to get through it without too much trouble. There have been a lot of people questioning how long Call of Duty 4 is, and the answer depends mainly on how you want to experience the game. Personally, I found that 8-10 extremely intense hours on Hardened was more fun than 6-7 very intense hours on Regular. As you might have gathered, this is one hell of an intense ride no matter what difficultly you play on.Part of what makes the story so great is the fact that you’ll actually feel an emotional attachment to the soldiers fighting alongside you. These aren’t just a bunch of random dudes who run into battle with you, although there are a few of them here and there. Instead, you’ll spend the majority of your time watching their backs as they watch yours, and you’ll likely come to enjoy the interplay between your teammates. The British S.A.S. squad is particularly memorable, and we’re sure that Capt. Price and Gaz will go down as two of the most beloved supporting characters in the history of the Xbox 360. To say that Capt. Price is one of gaming’s biggest badasses is an understatement, and we really hope that he gets a spin-off of his very own in the future.Although some people out there might gripe that they can’t give orders to their teammates or some such nonsense, we found that not only could our squadmates hold their own in battle, they were actually too good at times. There were some sequences in which my teammates took out a room of enemies before I could even enter. The squad AI is remarkably impressive, perhaps the best seen in a video game to date. I found that whenever I couldn’t figure out where the enemies were, all I had to do was take a breath and watch my teammates. They’re really on top of things, even managing to save your life on many occasions. That’s right, they’ll save your life, even if you don’t always deserve it. For instance, during one of the game most intense firefights (in game with dozens of intense firefights, this one is particularly memorable), I was being overwhelmed by enemies, yet I was managing to hold my own. However, once I heard the clink of a grenade a few feet away, I knew that I was probably a goner. Suddenly, I saw one of my squadmates run out from behind the rubble he had taken cover behind, grab the grenade, and throw it into the air, where it exploded. This is just one example of the excellent Team AI, and we’ve heard of a number of other “oh man, did he just do that?” moments.Personally my first experience of call of duty is a good one i would reccomend to anyone who likes war games or shooting games hope this review helps influence someone to get what is a great gameRead full review...

When I purchased this game a few days ago, I thought I was buying a pretty good FPS to help while a way some time. The saga that followed receipt of the game should be a warning to all! The game installed brilliantly first time and, having reading other comments online, I went online and downloaded the 1.7 patch. I then prepared myself for an entertaining hour or so...only to be told when launching the game that my cheapo integrated graphics chipset was not sufficiently capable to run the game!Note - why Activision can't tell you this at the beginning of the install is beyond me.Nevertheles, I went online again and did some research on graphic cards!I discovered the GeForce GT430 with 1.0Gb clocking at 700mhz selling for £48.00 so placed an order for collection the next day.Like a kid on Christmas Eve, I could hardly contain myself and (because I am know nothing about the inside of computers) I took my actual PC along to the shop bright and early the next day. Before buying the card, I asked one of the techies to take a look inside my PC to make sure that the card would work. He was a cheerful soul...until he looked with dismay inside my dusty machine and pronounced that, although the PC was more than capable of taking the card, the power supply was NOT up to it as the card needed a minimum of 300W and my 'box' only went up to 250W! And, yes, they DID sell power supplies and could sell and fit one immediately for £60.00! I left the shop in a daze, £108.00 lighter and desperately trying to work out how a minor purchase of a game for £10.00 had led to an investment of nearly £140.00 with transport costs!I got home quite angry with myself and deliberately avoided the boxes which I had dumped in a corner. An hour or so (and a couple of whiskeys) later, I slowly unpacked the PC, connected it up and attempted to run CoD4 MW again...it loaded...I entered the Single Person game at 8:20PM on Sunday evening...I have just forced myself out of the game (to be honest, I had to quit because I got stuck on a level!) at 02:10 on Monday MORNING..and I am due at work in a few hours! This game is unbelievable - you know that feeling at the end of a VERY good film when everyone just sits there for a few seconds in silence...? That's how CoD4 left me! It completely pulls you into the story and you GENUINELY feel that you are actually there - I even found myself turning to check on squad buddies who got shot, ducking as bullets flew overhead and mentally wrinkling my nose whenever the flies were buzzing around! Maybe it's just me, but I also got the impression that CoD4 wasn't glorifying warfare at all - just check out the commentary from the 'War Hammer' crew... Finally(!) I mentioned the graphics card saga for two reasons - firstly to warn about the need to carefully check the minimum requirements for the game (I didn't!) and be aware that, although the bare minimum specs WILL run the game, if you seriously want to see what CoD4 is capable of...you might need to invest a little. Secondly to stress how TRULY brilliant this game is. I am NOT a 'gamer' but the extra money I spent to play CoD4 was worth every penny! To me, CoD4 is not your average gaming experience but a completely mind blowing event... Why not 5 stars? Because I can't wait to see what the latest CoD has to offer!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD4) is quite possibly the best game ever made for the Xbox360. It's a first person shooter (FPS), meaning that you basically run through a map and shoot everything that moves and a few things that are standing still but look like they might move. What separates this from the glut of FPS games on the 360 is the stunning attention to detail and the endlessly replayable online facet. The graphics, sound, environments, explosions, character modelling (vast amount of motion capture), textures and feel to the game is simply spot-on. The game plays exactly the way you want it to: heavy weapons feel powerful but slow, wall-piercing bullets rip around you making zinging noises, smoke and explosions cloud the battlefield, characters scream and generally there's a whole lot of glorious activity. The single player campaign, telling a dual narrative set in a contemporaneous Middle East and Eastern Europe lasts about four hours or so, depending on difficulty level. However, as much fun as this is, it is really no more than a primer for the online action. The Xbox Live experience is where this game excels above anything else released.Teamdeath match and capture the flag ("Domination") are present, as is Sabotage, where a bomb is in the centre of the map and must be carried, planted and defended into the enemy's territory; this game of back-and-forth relies on teamwork and can last twenty minutes (especially if you are unfortunate to be on a team composed mostly of snipers who refuse to push forward!). You can also tweak your online character to suit your game style: perhaps you want an automatic carbine with a mounted grenade laucher, combined with deeper impact, wall piercing bullets. Alternatively, you might opt for a submachine gun with a quicker reload, combined with a "last stand option," where, before dying, you can pull out a pistol and fire off a few more shots at your attacker. There are dozens of possible weapon configurations and perks, allowing personalised customisation, right down to the rifle pattern, such as tiger stripes or desert camouflage. Some people seem to prefer Halo 3 (its' nearest FPS rival) but I for one am not really interested in silly monsters and 'plasma' weapons. Others have played the sequel to this (World at War, set during the Second World War) and have returned back to this, as this game gets just about everything right.I've played and enjoyed many other games on the 360, such as Gears of War 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Those games are great but Call of Duty 4 is the one game I just keep returning to, month after month. The online gameplay is compulsively addictive (but does require patience and practice, as it takes some time to learn the maps sufficiently to stay alive). If you only buy one game on the 360 and you have a broadband connection and have paid for the gold Xbox Live experience, get this game and get this version as it includes a free download code for four extra online multiplayer maps, making a combined total of twenty. CoD4 is one game that is worth the money. Now repeat after me: "Cover me - I'm reloading!"

The Call of Duty series is a highly established WW2 shooter series that competes with other series like Medal of Honor and Brothers in Arms. Whereas the latter focuses on team tactics and player cunning, Medal of Honor has always followed a highly unrealistic interpretation of the war. I hate both games. I don't need every aspect of the war to be perfectly represented, but Medal of Honor manages to bastardize so many elements that I feel a deep set hatred (being someone who has a great personal interest in 20th century history). Brothers in Arms is the polar opposite, being so obsessed with realism that the game ceases to be fun. So my two options for a mainstream WW2 fps are either: A)A game designed for over exited eight year olds with zero historical knowledge, or B) A game made for realism junkies, whose main goal in life is to receive irreversible war trauma, but were rejected by the army? No. Call of Duty manages to maintain an acceptable level of accuracy, while being fun. More fun, even, than the Medal of Honor series, because I don't have to wince every ten seconds. And so I come onto the actual game at hand; Call of Duty 4.COD 4 represents a desperate attempt to save the series after they basically re-released COD 2 as COD 3. Unlike most desperate attempts, this one actually worked. So what is it that makes COD 4 so great?First up are the graphics. People tend to get stuck on graphics, partially because it's the most noticeable advance and partially because most gamers don't really understand anything else. Games of one era tend to have similar graphics, which just proves how pointless the hype is. Anyway, COD 4 gets a mention because many of the scenes here are frankly beautiful and graphics are definitely a high point.Second is the story. Most first person shooters don't have much of a story to speak of, and that's OK, because the main focus is on gameplay. COD 4 earns a few extra brownie points by including an immersive story that is integrated into gameplay very well and manages to keep up. The story itself is far from original. It could have been decided with a role of the die: It's a ... Crisis, Involving ... Nuclear missiles, In... Russia. Oh gee, that's never been done before.Thirdly I come to Gameplay. The ultimate goal of gameplay is to make the game immersive and COD 4 fulfills that task brilliantly. Really everything ties together in gameplay; the story, the graphics, the controls; everything. And that's how it should be. Gameplay is also brilliantly varied as you go from large scale invasions by the US Marine Corps to sneaking through grass wearing a camouflage suit with the SAS. Add the graphical beauty and the scale you feel when you're playing the game, and gameplay definitely becomes COD 4s best aspect. So how do I conclude? COD 4 is a fantastic game that strong foundations and a strong structure. It isn't perfect; it's not very intellectual, all the enemies are very similar looking, and it tries and fails to bring many aspects across subtly. I can't argue with it winning game of the year. It fully deserves it.

Firstly, the extra maps "included" with this still have to be physically downloaded (but free) so don't expect to just whack it in and get on with them. They are quite good maps, and make a change from the usual map listings once you've been playing the game for a total of 6 days (144 hours)!Right, on with the main game. The most stunning thing about this game that you immediately notice is the graphics, they are absolutely unbelieveable and look gorgeous, even on a non-HD tv. On HD, it looks even better. Even when turning your head/camera, the graphics stay as smooth/crisp as ever. The controls are also sublime and are very intuitive. The single player element to this game is cracking and is an excellent storyline. The levels for each of the missions are brilliantly designed, and offer just the right difficulty curve to keep you hooked and to consistently challenge you. It is great fun, and is definitely worth a couple of replays at higher difficulty levels to get the full experience. The only issue with the single player, as has been mentioned several times before, is that it doesn't last very long. You could easily do the single player campaign in a day. If anything, I think this is a testament to the enjoyability of the single player missions that you don't want to put it down, and would rather carry on playing it till the end!BUT, multiplayer is where this game is at. Currently, CoD4 is the most played game on Xbox live, and with good reason. It takes all the brilliant graphics, level design and weapons handling and chucks them into an extremely user friendly lobby/server system, which will have you playing in a minute at most. On most of the game modes, you can respawn within a second, which is great when you just want to get on with the fight. Probably the best feature to CoD4 (and FPS as a whole) is the Killcam. This gives you a quick 5 second replay of your death, from your killer's point of view, and is extremely useful in exposing your flaws, things you can improve etc. The other great feature is the ranking system, and the perks/weapons you can unlock as you build up experience. Once you get to the highest level, you can even reset your rank (this is called prestige)and start again with the basic weapons to work your way up again, but with a unique rank badge for that level of prestige (10 in total). This only resets your rank and weapon availability, your total kills/score is still kept on the leaderboard. The only downside to CoD4 is that it doesn't have the Rainbow Six Vegas feature of cover behind a wall (and peeking around/blind fire) if it had that, this game would be 100% perfect. If you haven't bought this game by now, what are you doing? Get involved ASAP, before they release CoD5 and everyone jumps ship to that!

I played Modern Warfare years ago on the PS3 and class it as a pretty flawless experience. So when I picked up a 2nd hand Wii recently, I was curious to how such a grand PS3 game translated to a console with the power of a PS2.On the whole the game is very impressive. Lets start with the graphics, I played my Wii using a component cable allowing playback at 480p on a HD monitor, and in this mode the games looks really good, its looks like a PC version of the game running on lower settings. The characters, levels and weapons are all the same as the PS3/360 versions, in fact its hard to see where the Wii's hardware lets it down. The only time I could see the Wii struggling is in some of the larger battles, you only end up fighting a few enemies, before the game loads more in.<br>The controls are maybe one of the weakest parts of the game. The Wiimote is a great piece of kit, its accurate and responsive, however the level design of the game is the same as the PS3/360 versions. So there are times when the control set up really lets it down, for example there is no 'quick turn', your character will turn when you point the Wiimote at the left or right of the screen, but this turn is slower than a traditional controller, as such when you enter a building and find an enemy in the corner (or behind you) it takes forever to turn to attack them, this can lead to many deaths. The game desperately needed a 'classic controller' or 'gamecube controller' option for those players who just want to chill on the sofa playing a bit of COD. As have to stand and move about means you only get through a few levels at a time.Multiplayer; Lets be clear there is no offline multiplayer at all, which is a bit of a downer but you can understand that the Wii is already punching above its weight just playing the game. However as of 08/2017 there is still online multiplayer severs up and running, which came as a big surprise, but is very cool to play online almost a decade later.Replay value; With no offline multiplayer, and infuriating controls there is little to do after the main campaign and that control issue means playing it through at anything higher than medium difficulty is going to take some serious dedication.Overall the game is good fun, and for the most part the new control system does add to the overall gameplay. For a few quid its worth picking up, and makes for a good party game, passing over the controller when you die on a campaign level, and seeing your mates who've mastered other console versions of Modern Warfare, just fall about like idiots, and getting furious trying to get through levels on easy difficulty.Read full review...

I have only played 1 Call of Duty before, that was the Big Red One. This time, infinity ward takes you to the present day battles in the middle east, giving you action ranging from the Bering Sea to the dark ruins of Chernobyl. When i got this, I was impressed by the realism the game offers. The graphics are amazing, the AI is challenging, and overall offers a fantastic experience. You ethier play as 'Soap' McTavish, of the 22nd Britsh S.A.S Regiment, hunting down the V.I.P targets of the game, and switch to Sgt.Paul Jackson of the U.S Marines force, which role in the game is primarily fighting the enemy army. The Voice acting is very good, and actually sounds as though its coming from them, and always has an appropriate accent. The AI is suitable, and the enmy actually forces you to move via throwing hordes of grendaes at though, though there is the occaisonal stupid guy.The weaponry is accurate, the guns making the right sound, and sniper rifles having the ability to hold your breath, unlike games where your recticlue is infintley still!Despite the short storyline, it is all throughly enjoyable, ranging from an all out main assault by the U.S forces, to a quite steath mission in Pripyat. The biggest thing is multiplayer, as it have an extensive system in which you have levels(though in-game the pc says its promotion) and the ability to customize a class to your personal taste, whith loads of weaponry, which you can customize, ASWELL, there are endless choices. You can call in 3 different types of support, so it should be really quite fun. However, there are a few things that are quite annoying;Maytrdom - You drop a live grendae when killed, real pain if you want the postion your enemy was occupying(banned on some servers)Noobtube- another name for the grenade launcher, really quite accurate, but most servers ban it because of it easy killing potential.Last Stand- clue in the name. Stead of dropping down dead with 2 shots or so, you whip out your pistol halfway down, and are left like that until you die. This means you can ethier pull the trigger on yourself, on have fun killing unsuspecting enemies. Very annoying banned on alot of serversCamping - Most gamers know what this means. You stay in a good spot and shoot people who think its safe to go past your spot, or out of the dorrway your by. Can get you banned on most serversAnnoying by funny stuff-You can get killed by the shockwave off an airstrike, yes im not kidding - have first-hand experience. You can get shot through sheet metal, thin walls and wooden fences. No sidestep reload is safe.I recommend 9-10/10

So I'm sure you already know enough about this to have made a decision. Basically if you like FPS', particularly Infinity Ward's prior entries you'll love this. A reimagining of the franchise set in a modern day crisis not too dissimilar to that which we are living through now provides the back drop for a more story driven CoD.The series staple of multiple participants remains, switching mainly between American marines in the Middle East and the British SAS in Eastern Europe and Russia. For the most part you are the surprisingly un-heroically named Soap MacTavish in the SAS. The plot revolves around a military coup in the Middle East and civil war in Russia with the constant threat of Nuclear War.The distinct characters in the campaigns become a great comfort to you, well developed and likeable they show personality whilst maintaining the military attitude, a balance that can be hard to hit. The story develops at a good pace in a variety of in game set pieces that feel well spread and just realistic enough not to be convoluted. As always the controls are strong, the variety of weapons is appropriately varied and suited to whichever scenario they need to be applied to, and they will be applied to a variety of scenarios. One minute you're calling in airstrikes on a hostile controlled building, the next your sneaking through the bushes silently taking out tango's when they're alone with their backs turned before taking a shot from two miles away, holding out for evac and then your shooting choppers down with the gun on another downed helicopter. The level design remains easy to manoeuvre whilst not being constrictive and overly linear and explores a variety of settings from nuclear facilities to Chernobyl, post historical incident. There's really not much more to say about the game other than it is suitably challenging and engaging with a strong story arc for the game type and a good sense of flow. Oh and the end, yeah that'll have you on the edge of your seat. The Final Word: Great reimagining, surprisingly well realised story and characters and possibly the strongest entry in the series in all areas.

I got into gaming very late. The only gaming systems around when I grew up were the little bars either side of the screen, knocking a ball back and forth! However, having kids of my own, the PS3 became part of the houshold. Then, as I read the reviews, I thought I would give Call of Duty a go. I started with Call of Duty 5;World at War. I was blown away with the graphics, and the graphic content!I bought Call of Duty 6; Modern Warfare 2, and then found it was a follow on from a previous story, so I bought this one. All of them were purchases off eBay, as I refuse to pay the ridiculously high prices for the "most recent release!"Call of Duty; Modern Warfare is an absolutely addictive game.My partner has become another Call of Duty widow! The missions get harder, and harder. The storyline engrosses you. Before you know it, two hours have gone past! In fact Modern Warfare is better than World at War, in thet each checkpoint is shorter, so you can stop, save and quit, at more points through out the game.. but it is just so hard to stop!Where World at War is better than Modern Warfare is in the split screen multi-player mode, where you can involve you partner. In World at War you have to work together to complete the same stages as in the solo game. However, note that it never saves your progress, you can only get to have more choice of each of the levels by unlocking them in solo mode.In Modern Warfare, you can only play one on one against other, or in pairs (you can have up to 4 players on split screen), just killing each other. Which is not what we want (cos she kills me everytime!).I am told Modern Warfare 2 has the co-op campaign like World at War on the Black Ops section, but I have not tried this out yet.In any case the solo game is awesome enough to make it a worthwhile component of any games collection.Read full review...

This was the fifth game I got for my XBox (bought about 4 months ago), and I have not played anything else since. I have even bought other games and I have shelved them for later as this is just SO addictive.Play it in single player mode first. It has a good story line, which rings almost too true to current events in the World. The in game graphics are the most photo-realistic I have ever seen and some of the effects such as smoke, heat haze, depth of field and blurred focus make it even more real. The single player mode is fairly long (well, it took me a while anyway!) and leaves you wanting more...That is where the multiplayer comes in. So you have learned how to aim and shoot etc.But now see how you compare with real opponents who can take a few bullets just like you. I had not played any multiplayer before on the xBox so maybe there are other games out there as good, but I became an instant addict! I wait for my wife to go to bed each night so I can go on line for an hour or two!!! I am actually rubbish (rarely in the top half of the leader board when the games end), but it doesn't matter. You find yourself playing against your own personal best, and constantly trying to get to the next rank in a 'bogus' army! It also gets better as you learn each of the many maps (where to hide, snipe, or throw grenades etc) and unlock the different weapons and perks. So in Summary, what makes it the game of the year? Great graphics, excellent gameplay and lasting fun which I still don't know will ever wear off!If you already own it I have probably just validated your own opinion, and if not... just buy it!(One caution is that the graphics and realism make it unsuitable for kids. They would no doubt disagree, but as a parent I wouldn't want my kids playing this until they were old enough to understand what war is)

Why wouldn't you buy this.Cod4 is by far the best release in the entire Cod series of games. The campaign mode and multiplayer are 'still' vastly superior to all recent efforts including World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops.Play the campaign on Veteran for a proper challenge and you won't have any complaints about it being too short. There are difficulty spikes, which will make you want to break something. There's unforgiveable grenade spamming by the enemy, but it's still a joy to play. The pace and variety of the campaign is exceptional. It flows perfectly and doesn't descend into the ridiculous like MW2 i.e. you don't go from fighting in the dessert to back yards in America. It all feels more realistic (for a computer game). The characters in the campaign are fantastic and you will become attached to them. Very rare these days. This is all married with excellent voice acting and a great sense of humour delivered by your SAS comrades.Playing Cod4 to experience the legendary "All Ghillied Up" sniping level is worth the purchase price alone. It's been poorly copied and never bettered since. No spoilers here. The multiplayer is a lesson in balance, which was completely missing from MW2. There are only 3 set kill streaks, 3 kills = UAV, 5 = mortar strike, 7 = attack helicopter. No nukes, no chopper gunner. It's perfect. The weapons balance are excellent. Many of the same weapons featured in MW2 and were tweeked and completely ruined. Also, you get a had gun as your only secondary weapon, which again added much needed balance missing from MW2.Nothing I can say will do this excellent game justice. Cod4 is still graphically stong. There is still a strong online community and this shows no signs of fading. Why, because it's that good.Just buy it and enjoy.

I started the COD series with Black Ops, before going back to Modern Warefare 2, then up to Modern Warfare 3. However, as much as i like the other games, i kept hearing that COD4 was really good, and was better than the newer COD games. I have to agree, to an extent.Playing this was really fun, i like the fact that almost all of the players seem to be slighter older in age (not little kids), so theres no inane chatter, hardly any campers etc. Which is really good. Also, the basic 3 - 5 - 7 (i think) killstreak is really good. It makes the games more evenly balanced. Also, the UAV being the only way to detect enemy players on the radar is sooooo good. I hate that in Modern Warefare 3 you have the UAV,Advanced UAV, heartbeat sensor, portable radar and im sure theres more! Anyway, COD4 online multiplayer is really fun, i enjoy the selection of guns, the maps are fun and are more open, rather than very straight-forward (again like MW3).In my opinion, the damage that a gun does is too little. I think in MW3 guns are too over-powered and doesnt take much accuracy, but in COD4, it takes a little too long to kill an enemy. There have been times when ive emptied almost a full clip into an enemy before they die, which is no good when there are multiple. The biggest downfall with this game is that with it being quite old now, there isn't an awful lot of players online, and there are quite a number of hackers! i would say that 1 in every 20 online games i join have been hacked, maybe even more.I can't say much on the campaign as ive only played a small part of it, but as for multiplayer, the game is worth the buy. Im not sure how long the COD4 servers will be up for though!

I got this game about two weeks ago and have been playing on it with every spare moment of my time, it is amazing, the graphics are superd and if anyone tells you it's just a rip off version of the Xbox/PS3 version they are so wrong.I am a huge fan of the PS3 version of this game and was hoping that I would not be disapointed with the wii version and i can safely say its easily as good, the graphics aren't quite as sharp but it doesnt make any difference overall and the controls although hard to get used to are brilliant. I have only played online because I have been so addicted so I can't say much about the levels. If you are wondering all online modes are the same and it supports all maps weapons attatchment and perks, the only thing it doesnt have is kill cam (but I usualy skip that anyway). If you haven't played call of duty already it is by far the best FPS and in my opinion the best game on the wii. I did quite a bit of research about this game before I bought it and was slightly put off by the critical reviews but don't be they don't know what they are talking about it is an amazing game for any standards. In conclusion BUY THIS GAME it is absolutely amazing and sooo addictive. I rate it 10/10!By the way if you are worried about playing online it is realy easy to set up and there is very little lag (I have an amazingly slow internet connection and i have had no problems with it. I don't have a wii zapper with it but apparently they are good.If you are looking for how the game looks just go onto youtube and type in wii reflex online gameplay.

First of all I really enjoyed playing this game on single player ! Such a great storyline and really gripping from start to finish . The graphics are fantastic , enemy AI is like nothing ive ever seen before and weapons are wicked ! This game was hailed as being one of the best online shooters ever made , well hmm I am enclined to disagree with that . After playing Frontlines to death over the past couple of months I would have to say I prefer that . Dont get me wrong I really enjoy COD4 online but there always seems to be something lacking . For me this was vehicles and the addition of being able to form your own squads , none of which are evident on the game .I loved those aspects of frontlines and they just are nowhere to be found on COD4 . This is unfortunate because on COD3 there are a few vehicles to choose from : tanks , motorbikes , jeeps etc , I was looking forward to more modern vehicles with number 4 but to no avail :( also there is no Medic class on 4 like there was on 3 :( .I do like it that you can be promoted to high ranks when playing online , this seperates the noobs from the geeks ! The storyline to this game is very intense , and it interlocks events between two different types of forces in the military .On the whole I love this game I really do think it was worth playing . However I dont think that the price of the game can be justified , it is very overpriced and just has not come down at all (having said that , now i have baught it at full price it will come down !!)Anyway Go out buy it , play it and enjoy it !!

After having the previous two installments of Call of Duty 2 & 3 on Xbox 360 which were both set in world war 2, I was at first, a little dubious about the switch to modern day. I love WW2 games, CoD 3 was a shining example of a classic WW2 title, epic, cinematic battles, great visuals, and a fantastic array of weaponry really set the game apart from its competitors. Online is where Cod 3 excelled. It was awesome. Enough Said. Number 4 has a lot to live up to.On to the new version. Firstly the campaign. It is nothing short of epic. Every level is a masterpiece in engaging the player in the surroundings and sucking them into enormous firefights that are truly spectacular. The atmosphere in the levels is very intense and leads to an extremely dramatic conclusion at the end. Overall, the campaign is, admittedly, short, however, if you jump in on the harder difficulties you'll find it a lot more challenging, especially veteran difficulty.Online play is where this game excels. With the ability to create custom classes and upgrade weaponry with scopes and camouflages, it truly makes for an epic experience. This is, without doubt, the best online game i have ever played, beating gears of war pretty much hands down which is one hell of an accomplishment as gears is still one of my favorite online games.Overall, the Graphics are stunning, one of the best on any console. The campaign is short but incredibly sweet. But online is where this game truly excels. Be warned, if you buy this title, you won't be playing anything else for months!
