I bought a bottle of UK version for 50 quid and the Japanese version for 25 quid in Japan.The Japanese version is 12 year old where as the UK version is a non age statement whisky. Both whiskies were awesome. The UK version is well made considering that it is a non age statement whisky. It is like a French red wine with sophisticated subtle taste where as the Japanese version is an American red wine with intense taste. Yes, I am generalising a bit but I hope you get the idea. The nose between the two is noticeably different in terms of intensity. The initial taste is very similar but as the whisky goes down the back of your tongue and to your throat, you can notice how different the two whiskies are.

I drink a lot of whisky and for the price this is hands-down one of the best whiskys I've had in a while. Even most japanese whiskys don't use mizunara oak anymore because it's so expensive. This combines the best of scotch with that oaky finish, and it's just delightful. Smooth enough that the gf likes it, but complex enough that I can sip it for 1/2 the price of the next best thing.
