I am a 6' 215 pound male in my forties. I purchased this shoe primarily for walking and in the cushion and comfort department, it does not disappoint. I have very high arches and it is difficult to find shoes that fit my feet correctly. I purchased the mid-width in this shoe and it fits great and true to size. Brooks fit my feet better than any other shoe, with Asics running a close second.I found this shoe to be so cushioned that while walking, it almost feels like I am stepping in mud. My calves definitely get more of a workout than with the New Balance shoes that I was wearing before (which were free from work). For running for a person my size, I think this shoe would be great and absorb a lot of impact.(I am a heavy footed runner.) For walking, they are almost too soft. I think I would rather wear the Adrenaline for walking as it is not quite as padded. I have had a few versions of the Adrenaline in the past and really like that shoe. All in all, if you want a very padded shoe that is comfortable to wear and not too heavy, this is a great shoe. I created it a 3 for working out because I think of working out more as in the gym and not cardio. This isn't exactly a weight lifting shoe to me. With the amount of padding it has, it could be less supportive in some ways than shoes with less padding in my opinion, thus the 3 for support. For comfort, it's as soft as a cloud. I think I would prefer it to running, but due to Achilles tendon issues, I don't run anymore. For walking, in the future I will purchase the Adrenaline as it has a little less in the padding area, but adequate for what I prefer.

First off, I'm a power lifter looking to get back into running and cardio in general. That being said, these are the best running shoes I've ever had.I'm typically a size 9 1/2 and sometimes this size can run a bit tight, depending on the brand. To be safe I got a size 10 for Brooks, but the fit seems perfect in the toe box for me (I have semi-wide feet). I weight 200+ lbs (90+ kgs) and these don't stress my feet or ankles during a long haul (10K).I bought these off amazon alongside Asics gel kayano 25, asics gel numbus 21, and hoka one one gaviota to compare. These shoes weighed the least, seemed to adapt to my feet the quickest, and the support was the comfiest of all the shoes. The cushion was also great for both heel strike and forefoot running (I tend to interchange foot strikes during a run).Overall, I'd buy these again. If not these, probably the gel numbus. These felt like the most natural gait for running which is great, hokas tend to feel like bricks which I hated. They seemed too squishy for weights, but I bought them with the sole purpose for long distance running and they are perfect for the job.

I was that McFatty who was in shape thanks to Uncle Sam but then got out and ate Dominos pizza like it was going extinct. Pizza didn’t go extinct but I almost did. It’s okay, you can laugh, we all know at least one of those types. One day (6 years later), I started to run again and the shoe didn’t matter - I just had to finish my run - no excuses. Over time, my legs got stronger and so did my lungs. Wait a minute, could I run more than 2 miles now? Yup, I sure could!! So I set my sight on finishing a 10-mile race! But that actually meant buying a decent pair of running shoes. I tried all the popular brands: ASICS, Nike, etc. Nothing against any of them but for the shape of my feet, running style, and comfort, Brooks Glycerine shoes it was and it has been since. That was five 10-mile races and a half-marathon ago! And McFatty did it! Off his butt and in shape. Okay fine, I still cheat and enjoy some pizza now and again (focus on the latter). But with my GLYCERINE shoes, I’ve managed to do “my fit & in shape”! Get the shoes, you WILL do it, and best of luck! Remember, McFatty did it, so can you!!

I have been running for 3.5 years now and I used to just use ASICS like the kayanos, but some running buddies were all wearing brooks so I wanted to try them out. Best thing I ever did. I got the glycerin 17s because I like to have some cushion when I run and I did the test on the website. Very helpful by the way. The test recommend neutral cushion and the glycerin was the shoe it recommended. So I bought them and I have put in about 100 miles into them so far. The cushioning is still there unlike most cushioned shoes and the bottom is holding up good. I run heel to toe so the heel part is a bit worn but will last at least another 200 miles. The thing I don’t like is that they say super soft, when it is soft but not like everyday shoes kinda soft. They look great and for my workouts they work fantastic. The sole fits my foot perfectly so I don’t get that arch pain you get if the sole isn’t the right fit. Overall I would give this shoe a 10 out of 10.

Casual weekend runner on city sidewalk pavements and outdoor running trails along with the seasonal 5K races. Tried tons of different running shoes from Nike to New Balance. Finally found the running shoes that provide incredible cushioning, support and shock absorbent.Pros:1. Incredible support from the sole both inside and out, shock absorbant running on city sidewalks, and plentyof bounce when running.2. Well made and sturdy material. Purchased grey/navy/white style - color scheme camouflages dirt well.Cons:If you're into sporty stylish sneakers, this is not the shoe for you, these are your dad's sneakers.Overall - very satisfied with the purchase, they are so comfortable you will want to make thisyour regular walking shoes. My feet are no longer sore/tired after a nice long run. 5 Stars for a running shoe, would be 6 Stars if Brooks could have got much more creative/imaginative with their appearance and style...

This is one of the few truly neutral shoes that has medium/high. I suffer from plantar fasciitis, and these have great support without messing with my mechanics. Construction is solid and the colors look great. The cushioning is soft, but I won't go so far to say it it plush. There is plenty to protect your foot, but not so much to cause instability. The upper appears durable and breathable, and and the outsole has fantastic grip.My only concern with these has more to do with my feet than the shoes. My right foot is slightly shorter than my left, and I struggled to lock in my right heel. I could do it with tighter lacing or a heel lock, but I wasn't comfortable. If I'm spending $150 on a shoe,I need a better fit. Ultimately I returned them. That being said, don't let me deter you from these. I recommend them to anyone looking for cushioned neutral shoes with medium/high arch support.

This is my second pair of Brooks running shoes. The first ones was brooks ghost 10 and I have done 2300 km on them. 3 times more then I should really, but they are still in a good condition. This pair of Brooks Glycerin 17 is very similar to the Broogs ghost series. It has the same feel, similar support and even the look is not that much different. I have done over 50 km on them as of now and can say with confidence that they are good running shoes and fit well. The only downside is that in mid summer your feet will feel very hot during a run. The design is not that great compared to other brands of running shoes and the box they came in is a tight fit for the shoes.I like to place them back in the box after each run and it's annoying to squeeze them in after a muddy run. Those are small problems I have with the shoes and overall they are great.

I'm 5'10", 295lbs, and bought these for hitting the gym to lose weight, and get back to shape. I've struggled to find shoes that can take the weight and keep my feet comfortable/cushioned while working out, and these shoes are just amazing. They fit like a glove over my feet, and the cushion and support are perfect. The arch support is low to medium, probably better for low arched feet. I couldn't be more pleased with a pair of workout shoes. For everyone I recommend getting a half size bigger for your feet as the interior is all one sleeve and a little extra room helps. As for heavy people, this shoe will compress a bit after a solid hour of working out(mine start to compress around 10,000 steps in a work out)keep that in mind...I only use it for gym time(treadmill) or long walks...it's a great walking shoe! I highly recommend these!

I’ve owned Glycerin 12s-16, and now 17s . While I love Glycerins, they seem to have declined over time. For example, comparing an older pair of Glycerin 15s to my new Glycerin 17s, the heel cushioning in the 15s is noticeably softer. The change is subtle from 15 to 16 and 16 to 17, but my 17s felt harsh when I got them so I compared them to my old shoes to make sure it wasn’t me. Also, brooks has somehow changed the footbed or the lower side of the shoe where the footbed ends because there is now a pressure point on the middle of the outside of my right foot in the 17s that’s not there with the 16s or the 15s. Finally, brooks has gone from round,cord-like laces to flat laces which I’ve always found to be less durable.Hoping the 17 is just an aberration.

I am a 75 year old walker more on than off since retiring 15 years ago. I have feet issues - so it is all about Comfort!I have evolved in search for THE perfect shoe. The best I have found by far is Brooks Glycerin 17. My previous best was an outstanding competitor, except I needed more toe box space. I thought I was doomed in my search for the perfect walking shoe. Until I tried this Brooks model. I drifted away from another Brooks model years ago they were a nice shoe, but they were too heavy. The Glycerins are the lightest I have found, they give me the toe box space I need, and as a unexpected plus - the aeration system is perfect for Arizona desert walking!I am still looking for the perfect PILLOW ?

I read many runner reviews before deciding upon this shoe. I have used my Ghost 11s for two years and have been so satisfied. Unfortunately they are worn out. I intended to replace them with Ghost 12s, but decided upon Glycerin 17s for extra support and cushion. I was not disappointed. They immediately relieved my foot and hip pain. They are indeed a bit narrower in the toe box, but not to the point that it aggravates my forefoot nerve problems. They are also a tad warmer than the Ghosts. That took me some days to adjust to, but I do not notice the difference any longer. The Glycerins also seem to have more arch support, but then I have not compared them to a new pair of Ghosts,so perhaps it is similar.

These shoes are nothing short of a miracle. All running shoes I’ve tried up to now have made my outer foot ache after a few minutes (the usual suspects- Nike, Adidas). To put it bluntly, I’m a fat bloke that wants to start running, so cheaper shoes didn’t offer the support I needed. I bit the bullet and paid a decent amount for these based on reviews, and the fact that they’re recommended for the heavier runner. They’re the only shoes that I’ve been able to run until I was put of breath, as opposed to running until my foot ached too much. Highly recommended. Hopefully by this time next year I go from being a fat bloke jogging to some semblance of fit chap entering 5k or 10k races.Watch this space...!

These are by far most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned. My previous pair shoes were Brooks Pureconnect which served me for quiet well. Sadly it; has been discontinued and replaced with other line. Keep in mind they are half a size smaller. Other people mention it too. I should also mentioned this pair of shoes is suitable for someone who has wider feet.Shoes it's self are quiet springy and soft yet feels solid, wraps around feet like your own skin. It has enough sole thickness across all sole to support someone forefoot striking. I am forefoot striker too.I normally do 3 runs a week around 5k each run. So far I am happy with product.

Great running shoes. Super comfortable and make getting out there to train much easier and enjoyable.Training for half marathon and bottom of right foot started hurting in old shoes... thought I was going to have to stop. Got these and not only continued but have been hitting goals more regularly cause strain on feet and knees gone.I'm 6-3. 215 lbs so can attest that they are still cushiony for heavier folks. Also surprisingly stable. Very sure strides and landings. Even though I tend to pronate, I never feel unstable or that I'm going to roll an ankle. Can't recommend enough.

i have tried many different types of running shoes through differt brands. I remember my friend from the UK in the 80s used to get his to him from over there. i saw the brand on linr and decided to try a pair. I have not looked since. Ive tried the different types from addiction walkers right through to Adrenaline GTS 20s. I tried the Glycerin17 and all I can say is SOLD. There comfort and fit is unmatched from any other shoe I have purchased. I have now purchased a new pair of these and cant wait till they arrive. I would like to try the Glycerin 18 or Transcend 7 next purchase.
