I liked this single malt. It's for drinking. Perhaps Amazon should amend their guidance for product reviews? Because of current Draconian restrictions on personal freedom in Scotland - being unable legally to dine in a restaurant - my monthly expenditure has been less and I have been able to sample some exotic Islay single malts. Lagavulin 16YO and Laphroaig 15YO for example. But Bowmore 15YO trumps both. "Tropical Fruits with Sherry Finish" as was sold to me on the website or "An exquisite Sherry Cask Finish that develops layers of rich peat, smoked complexity" on the label of the bottle that arrived courtesy of UPS. Technically, the product described not the one delivered?Contact Bowmore Distillery for an explanation? I don't seek one. Chocolate, smoky (tobacco), peat, spicy vanilla, heart-warming glory. And a dark, rich copper colour. At £42, a great dram. OK - you'll get a nice dram from Tesco's Laphroaig 10YO at £28 per bottle - but the warmth and grandeur of the setting sun is contained in this Bowmore 15YO.

I purchased said whiskey as it was highly reduced £35 and I will be more than willing to pay £50 next timeFirstly when I ordered I opted for the free 3-5 days delivery and it arrived the very next day in excellent condition couldn't ask for better serviceNow the whiskey, as an Islay malt lover (lagavulin 16) I love a real peaty smokey whiskey and upon opening the bottle the peaty aroma filled the room which had me dying to taste and the taste did not disappoint I have had islay s before that were all nose and no umph but Bowmore just instantly warm your soul a real subtle heat but no harshness smooth all the way down Beautiful an excellent purchase

Bought this as an alternate to lagavulin 16 as the price went up. It's tasty it's smooth typical sherry and oak flavours not sure about the chocolate claimed on the box. It doesn't have a very strong scent in the glass which is a massive positive if you have a non whisky drinking partner. HOWEVER it lacks the balls and the punch you would expect for a premium single malt and when you are half a bottle in you will still be wondering whether you will remember this bottle next time. Good for your cabinet as a quality regular but never something to treat your guests to. Annoyingly disappointed. If you are buying as a gift for an expert just don't.

As this has been bought as a Christmas gift I am yet to hear how it tastes but the delivery was perfectly timed and the packaging incredible. There was no way the bottle or box could have been damaged at all! The box itself it easy to pop up and is perfect for gifting!Edit: The recipient has informed me the whiskey is very peaty and quite different to other sherry cask whiskeys however he loves it still and is sure the taste will grow on him the further down the bottle he gets. Apparently he can tell the quality from the taste and smell - so 5*s from him and me!

Not being a smoky/peaty type of whisky man I felt that I had to broaden my horizons with a foray into the Islay peated variants and have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I am not about to go into all the usual guff you read from so called whisky buffs but this whisky, I would say, is an ideal starter for people, like me, wanting to test their palate. Not sure about the pricing but will keep an eye open for when its on offer again as I found it very enjoyable.

Bought this for the first time last January from a shop in Bakewell - saw us coming as it was £65! However it was so nice when Amazon had it at £40 had to get another bottle. I've now had it on my wish list for a few months waiting for a price drop - this morning it was at £35 - 2 bottles on order! :)It has had a change of name, no longer Bowmore Darkest but now Bowmore 15yo, hopefully the taste won't have changed.

This whisky is full of depth and flavor. There are rich and smoky flavours which fill the palate. This whisky has benefited from careful aging and it can be instantly tasted. Beyond the peat, smoke, sherry and wood note there is a slight salt which gives a level of vibrancy. Without doubt this has to be one of my favourite whiskys. Smooth with a wonderfully balanced array of flavours, a fine Islay malt!

A lovely unctuous whisky. Full of sweet caramel flavours and smells.Very reminiscent of the Dalmore 15 year old.2 fingers make a lovely nighttime treat. Not the cheapest, but tasty for that special occasion.Drink it neat or with a tiny amount of water and at room temperature to fully release the gorgeous aroma.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

This Is a fantastic whisky, after drinking auchentoshan three wood for many years was after a bit of a change, and was pleasantly surprised, after reading reviews on here about this whisky not being the same as the darkest 15, I rang bowmore and they confirmed it's just the same as the darkest just rebranding .

In my view, the very best Bowmores are better than all other Islay whiskies. This example falls short of the best but is still very good; it has all the flavours we've come to expect of a good Bowmores but it lacks the deep and luscious intensity of, say, the 16 year old. It is though a very enjoyable tipple.

This is a truly special whisky which expertly brings together the sweet fruity taste of a sherry cask whisky with the unique salty peat smoke taste of a good Islay. Neither element is too prominent here.Let this one sit in the glass for a while and enjoy an unbelievable nose of fruit and berries.

an islay but not a crazy tcp mind blowing one. this of course does have a slight peat taste but also plenty of christmas cake fruity like flavour. i loved it and i would say its nice and smoothe for most tastes with a twist. a bit like chilli chocolate, both nice and spicey at the same time.

Surprised me as I'm not usually a fan of peaty type malts, but this is actually beautiful. After enjoying dozens of malts this one has now made it into my top 5. This will not be my last bottle of Bowmore. Good price from Amazon

Good and great price. I like Islay malts, so I try this on. Compared to Ardbeg, it tastes the light flavour of Islay. But if compared to Laphroag, not too much-changed flavour. However, it is also amazing me with fruity sherry.

This was bought as a gift and on face value to me it is exactly what I ordered. Delivery time quicker than first advised, a good thing! Packaging very sturdy. Product arrived in perfect condition.
