Firstly, I'm impressed with the price. It's strange that whisky has to leave Scotland to Germany, to then be imported back to the UK in order for it to be £10 cheaper than anywhere that would sell it in the UK. Surely more money has been spent shipping it around Europe?!The tasting notes of this whisky (from the website) are:Nose: Red apple, ripe melon, hot porridge topped with brown sugarPalate: Full bodied, round and rich. Macerated fruits, marzipan, walnuts, then warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville marmaladeFinish: Long, warm and dryWell... I'm not an expert at this but I definitely noticed the apple and the brown sugar. I quite like the oaky taste of older whiskies too, and this has that, definitely. When I read the tasting notes while drinking the whisky I could get the same notes, but I'm not advanced enough in whisky tasting to get them all without looking. All in all, this is a brilliant whisky. I may get again, I may keep looking for "the one".

I don't agree with the other review - this is 'the one' for me. The only other malt which delivers such incredible bang for your buck is the Balvenie 12 single barrel, but if you want a sherried whisky, then this is absolutely it. Whilst it's true that the whisky in a Glendronach 18 will currently be older (due to the distillery being closed for a few years), so the extra £10 could be seen as 'worth it', that won't always be the case, and either way, I'm still not sure there's another £10 of taste in the other bottling. Notwithstanding anything else, the Glengoyne is a rival for any other whisky in taste, including big brands like Highland Park, MacAllan and Glenmorangie, many of which charge twice as much for a bottle of the same age.

This is a great whisky that sits nicely between the 15 and 21 year olds in the range.Rich, caramelly, and smooth. Doesn't quite have the punch and complexity of the 21 year old but still a fantastic whisky that easily stands toe to toe with Glenmorangie 18, Glenlivet 18, etc.
