Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick - No. 16, Honey MoodThis product is like a cross between lip gloss and matte lipstick. You brush it on your lips with a lip gloss-style wand and it gives a hint of colour and a moisturising matte finish. It is fun to wear, though does require frequent reapplication.=== THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT ===* The product comes in an elegant square clear glass jar with a twist-off plastic lid in the same colour as the lip colour and is about the same size as a lipstick* The packaging seems marketed at a more mature age bracket than some wacky product designs, and I'd be happy to carry it round in my handbag* Attached to the lid and resting within the colour itself is a small sponge wand, enabling precise application and control of the product* Gives a lovely sweet medium peach colour and leaves a moisturising matte finish on the lips* You can spread the lip colour thinly in one layer for a barely-there hint of colour or slather it on more thickly for more colour* Smells fairly neutral (some lip products can smell sickly sweet)=== NIGGLES ===* The online listing claims the product gives "2 hour hydration" and "long-lasting colour", but in my experience no lip product ever stays on for very long and this lip product seems to only last a short while; it does say to reapply frequently=== INGREDIENTS ===Aqua (water), Octyldodecanol, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polybutene, Synthetic Wax, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Acrylates Copolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide, Glyceryl Caprylate, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Zea May (Corn) Starch, Parfum (Fragrance), Tocopherol, Limonene, Caprylyl Glycol, BHT, Citric Acid, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick is a lovely lipstick to use which provides a velvety smooth surface. Though if you have dry lips I would recommend not to purchase this as it has a very drying effect on the lips and personally I had to apply a moisturising lip balm to keep my lips from feeling dry and papery. This is a good colour which will leave a stain on your lips, which will provide your lips with a nice deep colour. The one thing I did notice when I applied the lipstick using the applicator the colour was vivid red and very bright, which would suit a younger person but for me who has left her twenties quite a few years ago the deep, bright red was simply too vivid in colour and it certainly did not suit me.I,first of all, applied a good lip balm, making sure my lips felt healthy and moist. I would also recommend giving your lips a bit of pampering using either a damp flannel or a delicate scrub to remove any dry flakes of skin. When my lips were soft and silky smooth I used a lip brush or even your small finger to softly apply the matte lipstick to the lips, building up the colour to your own satisfaction. The lipstick provided my lips with a nice healthy red colour, which looked and felt velvety smooth. The colour lasted and did not come off every time I ate or took a drink, this is a lipstick which will stay on your lips long after the others have vacated my lips.If you like cosmetics which do not need constant retouching this is one which will certainly provide you with colour which will last.Happy to recommend Bourjois Rouge Edition.

Red is THE colour of Autumn-Winter 16 thanks to being the focus of the debut collection of Chanel's new global designer for cosmetics and colour Lucia Pica. Thus the high street are looking to provide affordable alternatives!Bourjois now owned by Coty echoes the Reds collection and other Autumn-Winter trends of matte texture here through a velvet matte deep red wine colour (see swatch) in a liquid lipstick format on the traditional textured foam applicator.I like this colour it's a raspberry-wine with a tinge of blue tone that is very Autumn-winter and suits a wide range of skintones, everyone I've tried this on it looks a flattering colour, though some 'natural look' people may find the tone a little dark. The texture is a bit strange, slippy from the silicones but ever so slightly gritty which made me feel the need to blot, it's creamy like clotted cream but super-light to wear (I can't stand a very textured lip you can FEEL constantly). It wears surprisingly well, I was shocked that it transferred so easily on skin (I took some vitamins after applying and looked like I'd cut my hand open!) but it didn't look worn at all on my lips. It lasted ok without eating, eating decimated it though and thus required reapplication.Would I buy this again? I'm not sure, I preferred the lasting power and shades of the other new releases than this but it is still pretty and wearable, even in the day, and it will certainly get used up rather than sat in a drawer.

When I was given the chance to review this Bourjois matte lipstick I jumped at the chance not having tried this lip colour before.Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipsticks are supplied in a modern style lipstick barrel with an angled sponge applicator attached to the lid.  This range of lipsticks come in various fashionable shades and the one I received is number 17 and is called 'Cool Brown'.The first thing I noticed when applying this lipstick was that it went on extremely smoothly and afterwards my lips felt wonderfully moisturised. The lipstick is a lovely soft and creamy in texture and a browny peach in colour, this colour would suit most colourings … from fair to very dark.It is the perfect colour to wear during the day and also into the night.  I applied this colour before I went out at 10am, I was out for a about six hours and during that time this lipstick did not need reapplying.Other colours in the 'Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Range' … I just love the fun and original names:• Beau Brun• Don't Pink of it• Funchsia• Honey Mood• It's Redding Men• Jolie-De-Vin• Red volution• So Hap Pink

Less of a brown colour and more of a sort of pinky nude shade on my pink lips, this looked fairly nice on and very natural with just a hint of softness as it is a slightly thick consistency it does tend to make lips look a little softer and plumper. It has a nice scent, unlike a lot of these products, this one thankfully does NOT smell like vanilla, toffee or chocolate. The smell I'd say is somewhat like cherry, it is pleasant, but not strong. The only thing that I didn't like about this is that although it says it is a "velvet" matte, it does not ever seem to dry and does not go to a velvet finish. This is NOT going to be a substitute for those Anastacia Beverly Hills or Jeffree Star liquid to matte lip tattoo types that don't come off.You do need to keep applying this to maintain the look.I have it in several colours but I think this is the most natural shade they have. I'd say it'd probably suit most skin types as it's such a neutral shade I think it'd go well with anyone from pasty Scottish white (like me), caramel skin tones to the darkest of skin. Perfect neutral shade to go with any look.

I'm very keen on red lipsticks - they go well with my paleish skin and green eyes - and I have a boxful to choose from. I've been moving away from glosses and shiny lipsticks as I get older, and enjoying the matte trend. This lip colour isn't really a stick as such - it's a tube of goop with a small sponge applicator. A little goes a long way, and the colour build up is excellent. The matte really is a true matt too. However, unlike other matte products, it doesn't dry - it stays pretty viscous, which means it transfers to everything - cups, food, fingers, other people ... but oddly, it doesn't seem to diminish the colour any!By the end of a long day at a conference - where I had multiple coffees and a light lunch - I still didn't need to refresh my lip colour. And by the time I got home four hours later (and after another coffee and some snacks) there was still a trace of red stain on my lips!Definitely one to apply and forget - as long as you are the type to blot crumbs with a napkin and not the back of your hand!

I am reviewing the Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lipstick Number 01, Appechissant. Here are my thoughts:^^ The first thing I notice is the 'square' lip gloss pot lids resemble the colour. So when you have a few of them all lined up next to each other they look pretty cool. Plus it's easy to pick the right colour you want.^^ The Number 01, Appechissant colour is a lovely peach colour, but it's not a faded out peach, but more of a bright peach with a hint of red in it. It's very different bright gloss shade.^^ I have to say the taste and smell is lip-smacking!^^ Less heaviness than I expected, which is nice.^^ I would be careful if applying a dark lip liner on first,as this may show up on its own once the gloss has worn off.^^ Not overly sticky either. And that definitely makes a nice change.Overall: A nice coloured lip gloss from the Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lipstick range, which despite the 'rouge' in the name is actually not just a stark red, so you are more likely to find a shade that suits you.

I wasnt sure what to expect from a liquid matte lipstick. I like matte red lipsticks but mine are all sticks rather than liquid but i do like Bourjois stuff so i thought id try it out. The main difference i have found is solid matte lipsticks that i have go on matte but this stuff is shiny and stayed shiny. It was heading for a really low score, its not matte at all i thought! but then i blotted it. I dont tend to blot it as i like a strong colour and i wanted to get the strongest colour i could to see what it looked like but i waited and waited and it didnt dry at all. I then thought id try and see if it had any staying power so i blotted it to see what would come off if i touched somethingto it and lots came off but what was left behind was still a strong highly pigmented shade and definitely matte! This is highly pigmented with strong staying power, i put some on the back of my hand and its hard stuff to shift, part lipstick, part stain, not at all gloss. As to the shade, its a very bright poppy red.

WOW LIPS=========Lipstick is one of the best accessories that you can wear. Most are fine, some are good, whilst some are excellent. The excellent ones are easy to apply, maintain their colour, and don't bleed. This is one of the better one. It adds a little lip colour to your lips and I think it can pull together your entire look.COLOUR=======Nude lipsticks are fine but for me it's a red lipstick that works on all skin tones. You can be fair or dark skinned and a good red lipstick can set off your look.PROSStunning colour.Good brandboldlasts about 6 hoursno bleedingapplicator brushmore accurateAPPLICATION===========Apply to lips and it lasts for 6 hours and after that a little hint of colour.CONS=====noneTESTING=======In the evening whilst out (obviously for the purpose f the review)I only had to apply once all night with the colour staying on throughout the whole evening.OVERALL========If you're after a reasonably priced lipstick these are ones to put on your shortlist.

The Formula is great! It doesn’t feel sticky, or overly creamy so that it smudges, and the applicator is great. It’s small, which is odd, as nowadays applicators are huge in order to appeal to customers as they hold more product. This is the issue with Maybelline’s liquid lip because it holds so much product and the sides get messy. But not with this one, and as it doesn’t hold a great deal of product it means you can apply a lighter layer. The formula is much better than NYX and Maybelline. The only issue I have is with Amazons option to see the colour on with someone of a similar skin tone. I tried it, and it looked great on the model, almost like a nude on her. But on me it looked so bright and just looked very bad.I think they need to sort that out. But, I would definitely buy another colour because the formula is great, but just be wary or using that try on option.

These are my favourite option when it comes to affordable matte lipsticks. This is an excellent one to go for if you don't like the dry feeling that products like this usually have. The formula of this product is awesome because it leaves your lips feeling mousturised while still providing a completely matte effect. The colour range is superb, with something for everyone. My favourites are the neutral colours and the reds. There is something in each colour family to suit everyone. They are great for special occasions because they last all day without coming off and you don't have to keep applying it.It's a great option for a bold lip because it doesn't budge and you don't have to worry about it getting smudged all over your face.In my option these are the best budget option for a matte lip. They are the best ones that I have found.

This is a long lasting, high sine gloss which is excellent quality. I am really impressed with this product because it lasts so long without wearing off. It is really thick and opaque in colour but is also not sticky or gloopy. It is very comfortable to wear and I completely forget that I am wearing it at all because it just feels like a lip balm.It lasts a really long time but also leaves a slight stain as it wears off, making it perfect for someone who doesn't want to reapply their lip gloss constantly throughout the day.The consistency is very nice. I have never felt anything like it.I am impressed with the longevity and the full colour that you get from this gloss. The price is very reasonable for the great quality of the product. I would highly recommend it!

Coty has has been around forever, and I generally like their beauty products. Just this time though, I found the Hap/Pink to be a little too dark for my personal taste. It is statement lipstick, such as the gorgeous winner of GBBO might wear! The Rouge Edition Velvet goes on neatly, stays in place, is easy to apply where you want it to go on the little sponge-tipped wand. The effect is flattering, makes my teeth look much whiter...The lipstick lasts and settles down to a flatter look rather than glossy. As you might expect from a 'Velvet' finish. I didn't find it irritating or annoying, it tastes faintly of an attractive scent as it were. The glass pot is tidy, easy to find in a handbag and the lid is the exact colour of the lipstick. Well presented all round.

Initially, this appears to be similar to a lip gloss. The applicator, the texture and consistency, all are very much as a lip gloss. However, it's very definitely NOT a lip gloss, because with a sparing application, the lip stain dries to a stunning Matte finish.I personally, don't think that the applicator does the product justice - hence 4 stars. For me, it's too messy, and not accurate. I much prefer to use a good lip brush, and take my time to outline first, and fill in after.Coverage is good, but I needed to carefully apply a good 2-3 layers to get an even finish. Once blotted, it lasts a good 4-5 hours before needing reapplication. It's a strong, nicely coloured product in a delicious shade of red.Very nice, but let down by the applicator.
