I bought this as a replacement for a Gorillapod clone that I had had for about a year before it gave up the ghost and one of the legs snapped, fortunately a few moments before my camera was due to be attached to it.The Octopus Deluxe is a bit more expensive than the Gorillapod clones that are around but is a considerable improvement on these. The main feature is that this has a ball and socket head that makes it much easier to compose the picture properly. I have also found that the legs, that are covered with a soft material, give a better grip. It is quite firm when in place and copes well with my Lumix TZ-28 which is a larger sized compact, but would not be recommended for anything heavier such as a DSLR.Overall,
