I was concerned by several reviews referring to the failure of the C-clip within the body of the monopod that retains the rotating rod that screws into the camera's mounting bush. As an engineer I know that if the shoulder on the shaft is square (as it should be) then only excessive force can cause the clip to fail. Since the mounting base appeared to be covered with rubber, only moderate tightening of the screw would be necessary, Hence I went ahead and purchased one of these monopods, and have been quite pleased with it despite one section not retracting particularly smoothly due I suspect to the clamp not releasing quite far enough. As a security measure in case the C-clip failed or I am clumsy when dismounting the camera I have provided a security system.Whilst I use a ball joint both to enable portrait mode photographs as well as being more convenient than having sometimes to tilt the monopod through large angles in landscape mode, my technique applies were I not usIng a ball joint.Firstly, I clip through the one of the lugs provided on the camera the smallest available size of split ring. Onto that I clip a quick release miniature spring toggle of a visitor badge with lanyard, obtainable from stationers. Over the other end of the lanyard I slip a single black plastic spring cord stop available from camping shops. This stop I adjust so that I can just squeeze my hand through the loop formed at the end of the cord away from the spring toggle. Whilst this secures the camera to my wrist I do not want the body of the monopod dropping off, so there is another step that I take.On the monopod I fit a 1" split ring around its wide wrist strap and then slip into this ring another 1" ring on which there is a further smaller split ring which attaches to the ball joint. On the intermediate ring I fit a quick release miniature spring toggle which when in use I clip to the lanyard that is around my wrist.

So as anyone who works with cameras knows it's always best to use a tripod for better results, but it is really inconvenient carry one round and setting one up to get a quick shot. This monopod is a perfect middle ground making it easy to take around but gives you a much steadier grip when out and about.Pros- Lightweight- Classic Manfrotto build quality- Portable and convenient- Extended 5 year warranty if you register with Manfrotto. YES, 5 YEARS!Cons- Doesn't give you as good results as a tripod, but that's fairly obvious.I'm astounded that you get the same Manfrotto quality and convenience, with a 5 year warranty, for £15.It's an essential for any photographer or videographer and because of the price there's no excuse!

I have some good tripods but have never used a monopod before, so I bought this to use with my Panasonic GH5 to take shots in 4k at a circus in confined surrounding with a 14 - 140 (fairly extreme) zoom lens. After a bit of practice I got used to holding it steady and placing in on the ground in a position that allowed me to tilt back and follow acrobats up to the top of the tent. Results were very steady, though it's lateral movement that is hardest to keep steady and I wonder whether I should make a fold-out arm to give better control of twisting motion. The main thing is that it's compact to carry in my camera back when collapsed, and quick to lock solidly.A useful addition which I should probably have had long ago!

This is a great product!I ordered this product over 2 weeks ago and I have loved it ever since. It makes like so much easier as you don't have to switch camera battery every few minutes as it has run out because you have 2 in there instead. Your camera life is double by 2.There is only one iffy bit to it, you have to take off the battery door when you want to use it which is going to lead it you losing it if you don't keep an eye on it. Also it can take a few goes to get the battery's out of the grip as the clips holding them in place are very tight. But with that out of the way this product is amazing for the price. I wound 100% recommend it to anyone thinking of buying!

i bought this for my action-cam doing winter-sports (snowboarding). It's incredibly easy to use, and very sturdy, unlike most telescopic selfie sticks. Since it doubles as a mono-pod for any other camera, i'm sure it'll come in handy for taking more serious still shots with the DSLR.A lot of people are talking about hot the ball joint is a bit crap, but for the sony action cam (i think its heavier than a go-pro), i found it more than sufficiently sturdy. It is a little bit weighty compared to other selfie sticks but in the weight vs robustness trade-off, i'm more inclined to settle for something robust, rather than have to buy something new every time a lighter one breaks.

Brought to replace a tripod on a long duration photo walking event as wanted to keep weight of bag down. Definitely a lighter weight compared to my compact tripod. Did find that one of the extendable joints kept sticking though. Only used once for the specific so far and it was very hot so will see if this continues to be a problem or not. Does extend to a nice height although when fully extended I would not want a heavy camera and lens arrangement on it. My biggest kit on the day was a d5600 plus 70-200mm lens- not sure I would want a big 500mm or more in it especially if using a heavier camera body with battery pack etc.

Lightweight, but strong enough, and tall enough to do the job. Okay so it doesn't have an adjustable head but it's not difficult to lean the pole a bit to get the required result. Also quite useful as a walking stick ! It fits into a small bag and like the little Canon sx720 doesn't represent a large amount to carry about. I bought the compact because I just wasn't using my Canon slr due to its bulk and weight, especially with a telescopic lens. The sx720 changed all that but it is necessary to stabilise it at longer telephoto lengths. This little Monopod does that without a lot of extra bulk.

Often these things are nowhere near the quality they appear in the photos. This one is. It's light, folds up nicely, has a useful strap and the rubber cover for the camera mount. I'm not convinced how that would stand up to constant use but it's only rubber so that's expected. I bought a separate knob to go on there when I don't have my camera on it. The clips to hold it at various extensions are quite solid feeling and definitely likely to last longer than the twist version I've had before. There are also enough of these that you can adjust the stick to suit nicely. Overall a success for me.

I bought my Manfrotto some time ago and would not be without it .It is very easy to use very sturdy. Mine doubles up as a walking pole when I am out and about .when out walking in the local park at times I fix to the camera and just use the neck strap to carry the camera the monopod is not to heavy and I am always ready for a shot steady the pod with one hand just press into your body this gives that little bit more stability for quick shots of the wildlife.I would not be without mine now a fantastic buy .unlike a tripod not heavy to take away on your trips away

Surprisingly sturdy little monopod. I suspect the price has to do with the name but I bought this for my compact camera and for travel with a dslr and lightweight lenses. It held my Canon 6d with grip and 135mm lens no bother. I do own a larger carbon fibre monopod but wanted a tiny monopod for foreign travel and cheap. Its not very high compared to my other one however it is described as a compact monopod and really does the job. Its ridiculously light and has a nice grip on it. I've ordered a tilt head for it to be a bit more flexible. Very happy with it..

Good sturdy monopod for mirrorless cameras and similar. I've been using this for months with a Sony A6000 and zoom lenses and I find it really well made and it looks like it will last for years. The pole is solid in use and it retracts to a surprisingly small size and is very light. The monopod also has an easy to use loop so you can quickly attach and remove it from your backpack or camera bag.I found adding ballhead to the monopod when needed made it easier to use for photographing wildlife etcExcellent

I find the best type of camera accessories are the ones that are zero hassle to carry around with you. As this is super light and compacts into a bag friendly footprint, this fits that bill. The 1/4" thread on the top has the nice addition of a integrate screw mount, making it super easy to fit your camera without too much hassle. All in all it's a well built fully functional monopod. If you're in the market for a portable lightweight mono, for your smaller dslr or mirrorless camera, then get this, simple.

Bought this for use on walks with GoPro and so far really pleased. The reach is great and still easy to hold at full length. With GoPro bracket and Gopro its only 380 gramms total weight. Its oval in shape which fits the hand easier than a circular pole I found and also helped to keep the camera level while all sections were out. Youve got the hand strap as well so easy to carry in one hand while still using a hiking stick in the other.Quality is there as you'd expect being a Manfrotto.

I'm happy with this monopod. It's light enough to carry around and sturdy enough to be useful! It extends tall enough for anything I would expect to be using it for and packs away nice and small so I don't feel daft carrying it around. My only gripe is that the process of extending the leg is a bit clunky and not as smooth as I'd like but at this price-point I'm nit-picking. The wheel to attach a camera is easy to use and the grip is ergonomic. I would recommend this product.

A light weight sturdy monopod that is ideal for compact, compact system and DSLR cameras (DSLR's with up to medium telephoto / zoom lenses). Bear in mind that this monopod comes with a fixed head and so tilting capability is limited. I would recommend the purchase of a monopod tilt head if a more dynamic camera tilt is required (ie. for airshows etc.). It was the weight (only 0.35Kg) that originally attracted me to this and it has not disappointed.
