I got this tripod as part of a offer bundle with an entry level SLR in 2012 and it has turned out to be one of my most reliable bits of kit. My main photographic interest is long exposure night photography (typically 1 min to 10 mins) so a steady base is essential. I am pleased to report that this basic tripod has proved more than up to the task. When I was kitting myself out I thought I would have to purchase something much more substantial (and expensive) but the tripod came with the camera anyway so I didn't have anything to loose. After I had tried it however I was so impressed that I decided to prioritise my spend on a good wide angle lens and leave the tripod until I could afford it.Two and a half years (and several other lenses) later I'm still using this tripod and it still gives me everything I need. So, what makes this tripod good?1. Provides a rock steady platform for my DSLR fitted with a hefty wide angle lens.2. Locking mechanisms on the leg extensions are robust and easy to adjust3. Camera mounting plate mechanism is easy to operate and locks securely (I leave the plate permanently fastened to my camera)4. Rubber feet are on self adjusting ball type joints and take up the angle of the ground.5. The struts between the legs and the centre column add stiffness to the structure and can even be locked in position if conditions are really rough.6. The hook on the bottom of the centre column can be used to hang a plastic bag with a couple of weighty stones in to provide even more stability if the wind is too strong.7. There is a bubble/ circle level positioned in the top moulding of the tripod which can be used to accurately set the tripod level.8. The Camera mounting plate assembly can be swung vertical to enable a switch from landscape compositions to portrait to be made quickly and easily.9. The tripod comes with a simple zip up carry case which makes packing it in a rucksack easy as all the protruding parts which would snag are kept inside the case.10. The tripod is light and I have used it quite happily on multi day wild camping trips up in the mountains of the Lake District & Scotland. One tip I would give to those wishing to set the tripod up on thick springy grass (which I do frequently) is to use your boot to kick away the grass where the legs meet the ground so that each foot is sat on a solid base. This helps really helps with the stability of this (or any other tripod) for that matter.Summing up, for the money this is a fantastic buy. I have given mine some real stick over a period of over two years and I would recommend it to anybody. Give it a try before spending a large wedge of cash on a more expensive model.

Let me start by saying I am an avid photographer and have 2 other tripods. My favourite is over 20 years old, but is one of the sturdiest I have ever found and will not change it. That said it is very heavy and cumbersome so not very suitable for mobile shots so I wanted something lighter that I could effectively not worry about if lost etc.I ordered this when it was on offer and am very happy I did. The tripod comes well packaged in a plain box which literally contains the Tripod and carrying case and nothing else. No superfluous packaging or materials. It is lightweight, and the carry bag has an adjustable strap so you can sling it over your shoulder when on the move.It is made of a fairly cheap feeling material and I'm not sure of it's longevity, but perfectly useable. On to the tripod itself. This feels very sturdy for such a cheap model. The three legs are fully adjustable and there are two spirit bubbles to assist with levelling the platform. It uses a latch system on the extending legs which again feels quite sturdy, although I have only used it a few times so again I'm not certain of longevity. The mount uses a quick release system very similar to a couple of others I have useful if moving about and for quick setup and teardown if you leave it on your equipment.I've stated the tripod is lightweight and my only gripe if I had to have one is it can feel a little top heavy if using with heavy equipment. Obviously for most tripod photography this isn't a problem but even though it is solid the top heavy feeling can reduce confidence when in use. It doesn't inspire the same confidence that I have in my main tripod, but as this cost less than £20 when I bought it and my original cost roughly that over 20 years ago I wouldn't expect it to.I would happily recommend this product and indeed already have to a couple of friends. This is my honest an unbiased review, although it was on offer it was a general offer and I was not given a discount in return for a favourable review. If you find this review helpful, please click the button below.

The easel, as we know, is a quite indispensable accessory for anyone who wants to approach the world of photography, a world that is really full of accessories of all types and, above all, prices. The most famous accessories are, of course, the most expensive and then those who do not know the saying "Who spends more, the less you spend"?Fortunately, sometimes we can find some exceptions, and this is the case, thanks to the stand for photography of Amazon Basics.A super-economical, lightweight, versatile tripod complete with an articulated head and carrying bag.Of course, don't expect the quality of professional tripods, we are still talking about joints, clips and plastic head, but it will do its job easily and you will be surprised.I use it with several cameras, Sony a5100, Canon 1300D and 800D, also with the GoPro, alongside a second more professional tripod.I have often carried it around with me because its transportable 'is really one of its strong points, then the handle is something exceptional. When closed, the footprint is minimal.I was not happy with the panoramic films, the plastic head is a bit "jerky" for nothing fluid, forget the "micro adjustments" during filming. It reaches a great height, like a monster in the video, thanks also to the central extension, adjustable through a crank, quite precise but if you are not careful to tighten it well, it will tend to go down in case of heavy camera.Convenient the possibility of the slide to release in a super rapt and the possibility of being able to position the camera both horizontally and vertically. There are also two levels, one for the tripod and one for the head, good Amazon. For those who think it can break after a week I can say that, from my experience, I have been using this tripod for over six months, bought on Amazon UK and I have never had any problems and no structural failure.Value for money, in my opinion, unbeatable.I highly recommend it.Greetings and see you at the next review.Good Shopping.

I had been browsing for a few days solid for a decent tripod for my quite heavy 25x70 binoculars, one that doesn't cost the earth. This one had mixed reviews, but I decided to go for it anyway telling myself I would return the item if it was not up to scratch.Upon arrival I immediately set about setting up the tripod, first impressions are good, seems pretty solid! The tripod legs extend twice, using quick release clips. Easy up, Easy down!& If the legs being extended still aren't enough, then the head extends further with a few turns of a handle and a collar that, when twisted slightly, locks it in to place. The head of the tripod isn't as smooth moving as I would have liked for stargazing, but for this price I am NOT complaining and I can cope with that! There is also a small hook on the bottom of the tripod, which allows the user to add weights if they feel the tripod is not sturdy enough in their situation. As I previously said, my bins are pretty top heavy being 70mm. However, the tripod tilt head locks into place and they don't move unless I unscrew the tilt handle enough to free the tilt off.I had this outside under the stars gazing at the moon (until I got pretty damn cold) and it did not move once. Granted there is a bit of shake on the bins to start with, but after a minute or so that soon settles down (which I think is largely down to the rubbish plastic tripod mount I got with the bins)Once finished, the small twist lock just above the hook, twists slightly allowing the legs to fold in on themselves for quick and easy storage. All in all a brilliant Amazon basics product and I would not hesitate to buy another!Edit: Forgot to add you get a neat little carry case too that's pretty substantial!

Nearly only gave it 4 stars overall but then I remembered the price - and, for that reason, what you get here deserves the full 5 stars.I’ve used it on and off for 18 months now, and from my collection of about half a dozen, its versatility has made it my go-to tripod. I know I can rely on it to remain stable and locked on shot, at any required height up to my own shoulders. Uneven ground is no issue as every leg junction has an independent control. Its lightweight nature means I’m less concerned about standing it on other things (e.g. a TV digibox) which a steel tripod would probably damage (as well as making it easily carried when out on location). The downside of it having been used more than any of the others has been that it’s also the first to have broken, which is what triggered this review while I look for a spare part. The quick release plate is kept in place by a spring clip, and it is the plastic moulding into which the screw is driven to enable the clip to rotate that has snapped. I was lucky because it’s a very clean break and one large elastic band would be enough for an effective workaround. But superglue wasn’t suitable so I think the part must be replaced. It seems from what others have said that I’m unlikely to be successful here but I will try to remember to return with news of whatever solution I find.Something else to note: unlike a couple of others I’ve bought, this tripod comes with its own bag for ease of transport. You might have thought this is so bog-standard as to be practically mandatory but apparently it isn’t, so if you’re trying to choose a tripod to buy, make sure that each comes with a bag - this one’s bag is perfect :-)

This tripod is not that "basic", and is very light (although a bit plasticy) but pretty stable with a wide range of adjustment for diferent ground levels and the ability to go from about 2 feet for tabletop use, to around 5 feet as required (but a bit unstable at that height!).It is aluminum (probably) and plastic but looks fine, although I would be nervous of setting it up in a strong wind -even though it has a useful hook for (I assume) hanging a weight? To help with getting everything level (and avoid that odd tilted horizon look) there are two bubble levels, one on top of the tripod itself, and one set on the camera mounting,to make sure that your camera is lined up correctly. There is an infinite range of height adjustments (and different leg lengths for unstable ground) to get the camera to the required level. Further control by a winding handle adjusts the camera height to exactly the position required. There are nifty little rubber feet at the end of each tripod leg which swivel to help with uneven ground. It also comes with a basic nylon travel bag - but there was no manual. However it took my daughter only 5 minutes to explain how it worked so I am now fully conversant with the various tilting mechanisms! So - not bad for basic use - and I am sure all the professional photographers out there would laugh at it - but for me it is just fine. Simple to set up and get level, light to carry, pretty obvious to use (assuming you have a daughter to hand!)

As the name and price might suggest, this is a basic, lightweight tripod, so this is not going to be suitable for some scenarios, or for those looking for a really sturdy tripod. The build quality of the product is half and half. The quality in general is not bad. It will feel cheap due to the thin aluminium and plastic construction, but it seems to be built well, and it seems as good as any other low-priced, lightweight tripod you will get. You may find some movement when using it, but this mainly depends on how you use it more than anything. Indoor shooting or long exposure shots shouldn't be too much of an issue with this tripod. The movement is a lot more noticeable when the tripod is at full length though.I was quite impressed with the features on the tripod for the price. There is a hook in the middle for you to hang anything on, which should help with weighing the tripod down and making it slightly sturdier, but this is made of plastic, and honestly, it didn't look or feel that strong when I seen it. There is also two spirit levels and a quick-release mounting plate on the tripod. For those starting out in photography, looking for a cheap and cheerful tripod for occasional use, this is an excellent choice considering the price, but for those who are looking to for a high-quality and sturdy tripod, avoid this and invest more money into a better quality tripod.

This looked heavier than it is. It is nice and light, not too large to throw over your shoulder and carry or to pack in a suitcase if you want to take it away with you. The adjustable legs adjusted very easily with the quick release clips and by the using the very useful 2 spirit level indicators provided it was easy to get it set up dead level to be able to take nice straight photos. It also comes with a quick release attachment to attach the camera to it. Unlike my old one which you had to position the camera on top and screw into from a knob underneath. This attachment made it easy to quickly attach the camera to the base and slot the base into the tripod in less than 30 seconds. It's stable despite its weight and folds up easily to move with or without the camera attached. It is a good height and has a screwturn winder to further adjust the height of the camera once attached and of course the usual tilt handle. For the price, it offers everything. If you are starting out in photography or want an inexpensive tripod for occasional use, this one will do the job. It is from the Amazon Basics range so do not expect top of the range but it is certainly sturdy enough and offers all the features you need to do the job it is intended to do. In fact, I am so pleased with it I have now started thinking of upgrading my camera and doing a bit more photography using this.

We have just come back from our Iceland trip (yesterday) and this tripod was purchased last minute before we went away for a week. The tripod is excellent given Iceland’s unpredictable weather and strong winds. We took many beautiful photos of Iceland’s landscapes with us in the photos also. The tripod did blow over about two times but this was due to highly strong winds (10mps +) and we anticipated this would happen. For the most part when it was very windy, we just used the tripod cover and placed it over the hook between the legs and put some weighted stones in them to give it a bit more weight - This especially helped in windy places like Jokulsarlon’s Black Diamon Beach. We are highly impressed with this basic tripod and super pleased with how our photos came out on our Yi 4K Action Camera. We were also pleased that we did not have to ask people to take photos of us and grateful we bought this tripod because a lot of southern Iceland is fairly isolated with no one around. In terms of use, this is super easy to use and probably one of the best purchases for our Icelandic trip. We highly recommend this! Oh and lastly, we are not professional photographers or anything, we just wanted to capture some beautiful images of Iceland for ourselves.

I was expecting a lot less from a product line called 'AmazonBasics'. While this isn't the sort of build quality you would get from professional kit costing 5 times as much it is more than good enough for normal use and far better than my old tripod which really is the definition of basic. When fully extended this is about 5 feet high, and the footprint is quite large (about 2 feet) making it very stable when everything is screwed up properly, even with a an SLR camera with a big lens on it. There is a quick-release plate for the camera, a useful handle, a carrying bag, two spirit levels and a mysterious hook on the bottom - presumably to hang a bag or weight for stability, especially outdoors. When unextended this could be used on a tabletop, but it will still be a couple of feet off the table. I think you would want to have a mini-tripod or Gorillapod for those times when this is just too big.Just about the only complaint I have is that the crank handle for raising the platform is plastic. It doesn't feel weak and it does its job OK but it is the only way in which my old tripod is better, but overall this is good value and suitable for everyday use.

I bought this to help with filming and I have to say it's been a gem! I'm 5 ft myself and so the tripod is a good height for me but also excellent in case you wanted to do any kind of sit down and talking work. The width of the legs can be adjusted by pulling them closer together if you have a smaller space to work in. I have a very small room and limited space between my drawers and desk but being able to have the tripod legs closer together meant it would fit in the right place. The handle is great for positioning the camera and the spirit level double-checks your filming or shooting on a flat level. It's honestly been a dream to work with.If you aren't using a camera that has the screw in the bottom to fix to the tripod you will need a camera phone holder with a screw base to fit onto it, but I already had one from a previous tripod holder. It's very sturdy. The legs can also be adjusted by height and will be lowered or increased to any height you like.Wonderful purchase. Easy to use with no instructions. If you want to film yourself, others or use for photography I think this is an excellent buy!

First things first - it's a basic tripod - don't be expecting super-smooth pan/tilt movements if you're videoing, but it's more than adequate. For still photography, it'll support a compact or bridge camera with ease. I haven't tried it with a DSLR, but I imagine it should be fine unless you're using huge lenses. It feels well made and sturdy, and reaches a good height - I'm 6'5", and it goes high enough for me.It includes mini bubble level indicators to help you ensure it's set up on the level. The feet are articulated on a ball joint, so will stand steadily on the ground even on a slope. It folds down to a convenient size and comes with a useful carry bag (although it wouldn't have hurt for thebag to include a couple of pockets for storing other stuff). If you're looking for a professional-level tripod or want to put a DSLR with massive lens on it, or want a tripod with a smooth head for pan/tilt whilst videoing, you probably want to be looking at spending more on a better tripod, but for basic amateur/enthusiast photography, this will do the job and at a good price.

i bought a large pair of stargazing binoculars so it was recommended i used a tri-pod so after a bit of research i decided to go with the Amazon basics 60 Inch Tri-pod. I read many good reviews and didn't want to spend lots of money as its just an amateur past time for me. the product arrived quickly as always from Amazon & was well packaged. The tri-pod is very light weight & fold up securely into a small package easily enough to carry around on a walk or leave in the car. it comes with a nifty storage bag with carry handle. the tri-pod has lots of features including swivel handle, 2 x spirit level bubbles & is very light weight & well made. its easy & quick to set-up & does the job easily, its also sturdy & easy to take down & fold away within just a few minutes. Overall i'm very please with my purchase & would defo recommend this tri-pod to anyone keen on star gazing or taking pictures with camera & does the same as many more expensive products on the market i'm sure. Great product for the price £24.99 high quality & easy to use & looks good once set-up :) 5 star product!!

I have had a few entry level tripods that I use not only for photography but also for mounting a spotting scope for use when shooting over the archery field. This "Amazon Basics" tripod is pretty much on par with the others I have had in terms of construction quality. Much like other lightweight telescopic tripods, it features three section telescopic aluminium legs with snap type friction locks that can be set at any height. The mount is all plastic, but does feature a quick release mechanism and a spirit level bubble. It also comes with a basic nylon carrying case (something that a lot of cheaper tripods lack).Compared to my current fairly cheap Hama tripod, this tripod actually feels slightly more sturdy and solid when set up and locked into position.Overall: 4 stars - Considering that this is sold as a "basics" product, it certainly feels reasonably well made and is more stable than I expected. If I have any criticism at all it is that the crank for raising the head of the tripod is a bit notchy, but other than that it's not a bad little general purpose tripod.

This ‘Amazon Basics’ camera tripod delivers a lot for the money. The telescopic legs are aluminium and the camera bracket, locking clasps and handles are tough plastic so it’s lightweight, weighing-in at only 1.2kg. Folded length for transport is 614mm and a zipped, lightweight carrying bag is supplied for the purpose. The tripod has two built-in spirit levels. If you just want a simple tripod with basic functions to hold a zoom compact or lightweight DSLR, this will do the job OK at a very reasonable price. In fact it’s ideal if you’re just starting photography with a DSLR on a budget, as it’s almost impossible to find a tripod this good for so little money. You’ll likely be surprised at how chunky all the fittings are and how everything has the feel of basic, good quality. If however you want to deploy a heavy, multi-function DSLR with multiple lenses for long-term professional use, then it might be best to get something more high-end – for which you’ll pay maybe four or five times as much.Four stars for quality & features; five for overall value.
