I have never used a tripod before as I am more of a point, click and shake photographer taking just general family and holiday snaps. When I got a digital camcorder for vlogging purposes I knew that I needed a tripod. To be honest I went for the cheapest floor standing option as table space is limited in the filming area and I needed it to go behind. Literally, that is the extent of my product knowledge - what's cheap and floor standing. That led me to this little beauty.I am super pleased with this tripod. It is lightweight but feels nice and sturdy and feels like it would support quite a weighty camera - as you can see from the photos mine is a low end, light unit so it has no issues with holding it at the required filming angle.Attaching the camera is super simple - providing the camera has a tripod socket fitted to the base - and so is removal. Admittedly I have to get my other half to do it as I am the world's clumsiest person and would probably break something but that's just me - he has no issues at all.Leg adjustment is simple and secure once adjusted. There are three stage telescopic legs and each leg has a retaining clip so you unclip, extend and then clip down again. I explained that really badly but once you have it in your hands it will make sense. Even better this means it is ideal for using on uneven terrain as each leg can be adjusted individually to get it level.Lightweight and the included carrying case is a nice touch. Honestly, the value for money here is astounding. Very, very pleased with the purchase.

PROSIf you're on a tight budget and just need to hold your camera still, this will absolutely do the trick. It packs up very small. It unpacks into a rather large rig, comfortable to take photos/video while standing (I'm over 6')The colour isn't as obnoxious as I thought it might be.CONSYou do compromise on quality; the tripod legs feel delicate and bend under forceThe swivel head is far from smooth. The short arm on the swivel means you have less precision in movement. At it's default "horizontal" position, the base plate lists slightly to one side - probably by 1 or 2 degrees (barely noticeable). The head of the tripod has the previously mentioned horizontal position as well as a vertical one, however there is no mechanism to change the position. So if you're focussing with a long lens, the rotational force on the camera body (and therefore the tripod) can quite often lead to the tripod head flipping into its vertical (portrait) position. Not ideal if you're shooting video at the same time because your picture goes from landscape to portrait in one shot. From my experience so far (2 months regular use): great for photos and okay for stationary video and video that tracks on one axis (vertical OR horizontal, mixing the two makes the movement of the swivel head far too jerky).Oh and don't try to zoom while filming.

Purchased : Nov 2016Reviewed in Nov 2016This is my first ever tripod. I have a simple Sony cybershot camera. My camera easily fits on it. This tripod extends to a very good height. I bought it specifically so that we don't have to ask for strangers to click the pics. Also, the main reason is to use it to take pics and videos of Northern Lights in Iceland. This tripod will surely provide me non-shake pics and videos, which is a key to operate the camera at night.I am quite happy with it.The only thing is it is a little bit wobbly. I think it will struggle a little bit if the camera is heavy. But for my light weighted camera its serves the purpose.2nd Review in Mar 20192nd Review after 3+ yearssince I purchased itIt is just an update to my previous review including pics and a video. After 3+ years of its fairly regular use, I could not find any changes to my first review. There is no additional downside. The plus point would be that despite its regular use there is no noticeable wear and tear. Its functionality is still the same. I will stick to my 4 stars for it.

If you are used to professional kit in any measure this will look like it came from a large Christmas cracker. Having said that if you need a super inexpensive tripod for very basic use it’s good. For example I bought it as a quick and easy solution to position a webcam for a particular shoot I was doing. You can move the head around but please don’t buy this expecting that you will be able to get smooth movements from it for video. It will be fine if you simply need to attach a camera, make some adjustments and then leave it. Personally I wouldn’t attach a camera of any great value to this. It doesn’t feel any where near sturdy or reliable enough for that. It’s ideal for what I needed it for and for the price it’s great.I imagine it may also work for vlogging if you have a phone attachment as it’s light weight and small. But this isn’t going to last long if it gets lots of use. Also do hold a tape measure up from the ground before you buy it so you can see how high it goes. It’s exactly what you’d expect for this price so I gave it 5 stars. Hope this helps :)

If you just need a cheap, very light and highly collapsible tripod, this is great. However, if you need something with a more fluid movement, especially for very small micro adjustments (this tends to stick and requires moving past what you want ffor it to adjust back a bit... As I was using this with a telescope and camera mounted on it, it was very noticeable when looking at things far away. However, using this just with my camera for more every day usage has proved quite easy, the camera can be taken off easily without compromising the safety of its attachment, the legs take a minute or two to collapse or extend but feel sturdy.I would just recommend, for those people who might be wanting to have a snappy reactive movement to this, perhaps look elsewhere. However, you don't need a really smooth and fluid movement in all directions, this will do just find and for the price it's a decent piece of equipment that I use frequently.

This Amazon Basics tripod arrived well packaged, in a compact box then inside a convenient carry case that's included. It looks and feels nice for a tripod at this price, a nice bronze colour with a matte finish. The first thing that caught my attention, coming from a rather heavy smaller tripod is how light this is, making it very portable. The legs fold out and extend with ease and are amply solid, nothing exceptional, but this is to be expected for a product like this. The camera mount also works well and is great quality at the price.Overall a great tripod, very light and portable, great value at this price and should be great for many casual users. Portability and low price are clearly the main aspects of this particular tripod, but if you're looking for one to rely on during the longest of hikes and wildest of weather, consider a more expensive and solid one as this is only intended for casual use.

For the cost of this tripod it is a great value for money item. if like me you are an occasional photographer, this is the perfect tripod to buy. Inexpensive in the first instance, but pleasantly surprising when you receive it! It comes with a neat carry bag. Very light weight with a small profile when collapsed. The legs are extendable with three locking clips - so fully adjustable to a good height when completely extended. The fixing plate for your camera is completely secure, and the option to adjust the angles of your camera view trajectory are able to be loosened and tightened as you wish to get you the perfect steady angle for your photograph. The plate also has optional height adjustment, bringing the overall height when all options are fully extended to approx. 4'8", with the camera still secure with no wobble or show of weakness in the extended legs of the tripod. Overall - a great little buy!

I needed a light tripod for my Canon Powershot sx430 is, as I work mainly from home and I’m a content creator. Sometimes I also travel and I stay on the road for more than a month due to my job as Sports announcer and I wanted something light, compact, and adapt to my needs.I found this one and I read all the reviews before taking a decision and I couldn’t be more happier than this. The item arrived this morning, super well packed, the color is beautiful (kinda a dark dust pink / champagn), it includes the bag to transport it, and it is super light. It fits perfectly in a backpack or handbag and my camera is stable while on it.Has a quick release system, a bubble meter to find the perfect center, and I’m absolutely in love with it.The costs of it is nothing compared to what I received and I would absolutely recommend it to friends and family.

I was a bit worried when I first purchased this tripod because its so cheap. Its a banging piece of kit. Legs extend out fully making it floor standing. Im 5ft 10 and it comes up to my chest from the floor. Has a threaded metal rod onto to mount webcam or other cameras. I also have a galaxy S20 ultra which clamps onto it aswell. It is extremely lightweight to the point you would have to check you were still carrying it. It comes with a little level on the rear end so you can make sure you are set up nice and flush. Everything on this tripod is adjustable so you will always be able to get it level. Inwouldnt recommended putting a big heavy camera onto though as I could imagine this getting blown over in the wind.Other than that, if you want it for a webcam mount it is perfect and it is extremely well priced?

This is the first tripod I have ever used so cannot compare it to any other but as a complete amateur just wanting to steady both my camera and camcorder when filming or taking stills, decided I would just buy a cheap one to see how it goes. I can say I am really pleased with it and surely nobody can argue about the quality at this price. I thought I had been misinformed about the maximum height as the legs only extended to 43" but then realised the actual mount can be raised to bring it to the full 50" as advertised. Each leg has 3 seperate sections and each section can be moved and locked to cope with any uneven terrain. All in all a good little buy and I am sure it will last for years with just minimum use that I will give it but if you use a tripod constantly, I would recommend something a bit stronger.

My brother wanted a tripod which was compact, light weight, had a removable mount, didn't have screw threads on the legs, and did not cost a zillion pounds. After looking at a few hundred, non of which matched all the criteria, eventually we found these. He decided to give it a go. I was so impressed I straight away ordered one for myself too.The legs seem a little flimsy as you set them up, although once put up everything is steady enough. And I'm not convinced the plastic clips which hold the legs will last very long. But it does meet all the above, and at an almost bizarrely low price. If you don't have a massive, expensive, really heavy camera and just want something to steady a compact/bridge camera which is cheap but very functional, then I'd definitely recommend giving this a try.

Another great Amazon Basics product. This will fit in a Ryanair sized cabin trolley bag, and can fit in the bottom of a childs stroller basket when folder. It's lightweight, so ideal for travelling. Great for the hobbyist photographer looking to take better low light shots or just be in some of the family photos! It say this has it's uses in the kit of a more serious photographer also (I'm definitely not there yet), but probably as a secondary tripod. It's neither flimsy or robust (meaning it's lightweight tripod, so this is it's main selling feature). It doesn't feel like my DSLR will fall off it all, but I still treat it very carefully so as not to damage it.I have a feeling this will be travelling with me for years to come.Measurements exactly as described.

I have bought the Amazon Basics Tripod very recently to use for YouTube and video recording and I have to say, I am very impressed. The value that you are getting for such an amazing product is unthinkable. This tripod is very sturdy and is a decent weight, meaning that it can easily hold up a full sized DSLR. A thing that I love about this tripod is that it comes with its own carrying bag and that the tripod can fold up to be really small, which is great for me when I’m on the go and filming at different locations.Overall, I have a really strong feeling that this tripod is going to last me a long time due to its superb build quality and functions. Amazon Basics have done a really good job here,so well done.

This is the first tripod I've bought and I must say I was impressed. I thought as it was so cheap it might not be great but thought, what the hell I'll give it a go.Looks really nice and sleek, it's a modern bronze looking colour, comes with it's own sleeve, too.I used this tripod to do my own indoor maternity shoot using my Nikon D750. Attaching it to my camera was simple enough and cannot fault the tripod throughout the shoot. Did what it needed to I.e. held my camera up.I'm not sure how this tripod would be in other settings such as outdoor etc which is why I've only given 4 stars. The legs are a bit skinny when fully extended so I do have my concerns about how sturdy it would be in anotherenvironment.

What an amazing price! But even a low price is too much if the product is poor. Well this tripod is brilliant. Admittedly it's nowhere near as sturdy or versatile as a professional tripod but as a light travel tripod it can't be beaten. It folds up very small (very slightly longer than my laptop) and fully extended it's height is good. On top of that it's very light and is unlikely to tip your baggage allowance into the red. It's adjustable sideways and up and down. It has a small spirit level to ensure a level horizon. I found it a bit 'sticky' when panning a movie. For a versatile, lightweight travelling tripod, I've not seen anything to touch it at double the price.
